However, Infosys CEO <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword> dismissed all the concerns and compared the top-level exits with other companies. When asked about the attrition rate at the top management, Sikka said it was “far lower than other firms.” "It happens in every company. We actually did an analysis, both in terms of our own past as well as in terms of the other companies in our industry. And there are far more executives who have left every other company that we could think of," Sikka told a leading news channel. Recently, Anirban Dey, global head and chief business officer of Edge products, <keyword id="2825391" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yusuf-Bashir">Yusuf Bashir</keyword>, MD, <keyword id="3861225" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="infosys-innovation-fund">Infosys Innovation Fund</keyword>, and Ritika Suri, executive vice-president, exited the company. They were brought by Sikka from SAP. Sikka quipped that there is a "fixation" on Infosys, and exit of individuals, including assistants and engineers, keeps showing up on the list. Infosys has also been attracting limelight due to various other challenges such as governance issue between board members and founders, uncertain global economic environment, etc. Asked about co-founder <keyword id="51793" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NR-Narayana-Murthy">NR Narayana Murthy</keyword>'s reported comments recently that he regretted leaving the organisation in 2014, Sikka said it was a conscious decision to have an independent board and a professional management. "This was something that we had very consciously established as an independent board and a professional management taking over from a founder-led board and a founder-led management. So, that is a big change," he said.

This comes as a setback for <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword> who seeks to strengthen new digital and innovation capabilities. <keyword id="2825391" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yusuf-Bashir">Yusuf Bashir</keyword>, MD of Infosys Innovation Fund, had worked closely with Sikka at SAP and had joined Infosys in March 2015. Bashir’s exit comes after <keyword id="2558261" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ritika-Suri">Ritika Suri</keyword> also resigned recently. Bashir’s role was to identify and invest in early-stage companies doing cutting-edge work in areas including AI, machine learning, big data, cloud and analytics. Sikka’s vision is to build tech innovation and get more clients under its fold. Bashir made 12 startup investments and the last investment that Bashir made from the Innovation Fund was in December 2016.

Keeping a budget of $250 million (Rs 1,580 crore), Infosys is evaluating the start up firms. 
 
As per a news report by The Economic Times, India's second-largest software exporter is also finalising an agreement to sign up for software products think-tank iSpirt's mergers and acquisitions program to connect with early-stage product companies, sources informed the ET. 
 At a time when <keyword id="6360722" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword> and Amabnis are looking up to the startup ventures, increase in non -traditional technology solutions to solve new-age business problems are making IT companies look for an option for a viable collaboration 
 The ET news report reads, Infosys is keen on investing on startups that have a profile similar to that of enterprise software maker <keyword id="2211555" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SirionLabs">SirionLabs</keyword>, a technology developing firm. Analytics and artificial intelligence are the key focus areas for Infosys. 
 
 
"The discussions are still at a very early stage," the sources informed the financial daily. "Most of the startups that companies like Infosys are looking to tap are incorporated in India, with their founders based out of the Silicon Valley." 
 <keyword id="2825391" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yusuf-Bashir">Yusuf Bashir</keyword>, newly-appointed <keyword id="6411847" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="head">head</keyword> of Infosys's $500-million startup fund, visited Bengaluru in April to meet members of iSpirt's M&amp;A team and evaluate how to best tap into India's software product ecosystem. iSpirt executives also met Kaustav Mitra, vice-president, innovation ecosystems at Infosys. Like Bashir, Mitra too was a former colleague of Infosys <keyword id="24211" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="chief-executive">chief executive</keyword> <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword> at <keyword id="6358384" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SAP">SAP</keyword>. 
 iSpirt's M&amp;A connect program has a curated list of nearly 100 early-stage software companies under a business exchange program that typically connects large enterprises such as <keyword id="10875" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBM">IBM</keyword> and SAP with early-stage startups that are building disruptive software solutions. Companies like IBM, SAP, <keyword id="28115" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Intel">Intel</keyword>, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Flipkart and <keyword id="155484" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salesforce">Salesforce</keyword> are members. 
 
According to the ET, Infosys expanded the size and scope of its startup fund by five times to $500 million in January. Later, Sikka pledged to invest $250 million in Indian startups in the first such commitment by a cash-rich software services company.

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>DAKAR, Senegal (AP) - Nigeria's electoral commission will postpone Feb. 14 presidential and legislative elections for six weeks to give a new multinational force time to secure northeastern areas under the sway of Boko Haram, an official close to the commission told The Associated Press on Saturday.
Millions could be disenfranchised if next week's voting went ahead while the Islamic extremists hold a large swath of the northeast and commit mayhem that has driven 1.5 million people from their homes.
Civil rights groups staged a small protest Saturday against any proposed postponement. Police prevented them from entering the electoral commission headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. Armed police blocked roads leading to the building.
Electoral officials were meeting with political parties Saturday, asking their views on a postponement requested by the national security adviser, politician Bashir Yusuf told reporters. He said the adviser argued the military will be unable to provide adequate security for the elections because of operations in the northeast.
The Nigerian official, who is knowledgeable of the discussions, said the Independent National Electoral Commission will announce the postponement later Saturday. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.A major offensive with warplanes and ground troops from Chad and Nigeria already has forced the insurgents from a dozen towns and villages in the past 10 days. Even greater military strikes by more countries are planned.
African Union officials were ending a three-day meeting Saturday in Yaounde, Cameroon's capital, to finalize details of a 7,500-strong force from Nigeria and its neighbors Chad, Cameroon, Benin and Niger. Details of funding, with the Africans wanting the United Nations and European Union to pay, may delay the mission.
Nigeria's home-grown extremist group has responded with attacks on one town in Cameroon and two in Niger this week. Officials said more than 100 civilians were killed and 500 wounded in Cameroon. Niger said about 100 insurgents and one civilian died in attacks Friday.
Several security forces from both countries were killed.International concern has increased along with the death toll: Some 10,000 killed in the uprising in the past year compared to 2,000 in the four previous years, according to the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations.
The United States has been urging Nigeria to press ahead with the voting. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Nigeria two weeks ago and said that "one of the best ways to fight back against Boko Haram" was by holding credible and peaceful elections, on time.
"It's imperative that these elections happen on time as scheduled," Kerry said.

The elections had been called early. Elections in 2011 were postponed until April. May 29 is the deadline for a new government to be installed.
Officials in President Goodluck Jonathan's administration have been calling for a postponement.
Any delay is opposed by an opposition coalition fielding former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari, though the opposition stands to take most votes in the northeast.
Supporters of both sides are threatening violence if their candidate does not win. Some 800 people were killed in riots in the mainly Muslim north after Buhari, a Muslim, lost 2011 elections to Jonathan, a Christian from the south.
Analysts say the vote is too close to call, the most tightly contested election since decades of military dictatorship ended in 1999.
Jonathan's party has won every election since then but the failure of the military to curb the 5-year Islamic uprising, growing corruption and an economy hit by halved oil prices have hurt the president of Africa's biggest oil producer and most populous nation of about 170 million.
A postponement also will give electoral officials more time to deliver some 30 million voter cards. The commission had said the non-delivery of cards to nearly half of the 68.8 million registered voters was not a good reason to delay the vote.
