New Delhi, Jan 20 () Organic food start-up Kesarwala on Monday sought incentives from the government in the forthcoming Budget for the fast growing sector to push the industry growth.
 "The industry needs adequate infrastructure in terms of number of testing and certifying labs in the country. This will help in cutting the cost as currently these things are expensive," Founders of Kesarwala Divaker Bhalla and Yousuf Khan said.
 They said that starting from the farmers to the industry, the sector needs support from the government.
 "To replenish farm land for the purpose of growing organic produce, which are completely chemical free, a farmer has to wait for at least five years as he or she can not use that land before that for organic farming. Leaving the land for five year is a long period. If government can announce some kind of subsidies to those farmers, it will provide a big help to them," Khan said.
 He also said increasing awareness about the benefits of consuming organic produce too is important for the growth of the sector.
 Bhalla said although people are gradually shifting towards organic foods, more steps needs to be taken in this direction in all big and small cities.
 "We can take cue from countries such as the US and Europe to taker forward this sector," he added.
 Further, Khan said that skill development is another area, which needs to be focussed.
 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget for 2020-21 on February 1.
 The company is running its organic food restaurant in Noida. It is planning to open 10 new franchise restaurants in the national capital region in next few months. RR SHW

Organic food industry needs govt incentives in Budget to boost growth: Kesarwala

More than 90 people have been confirmed dead after a <keyword id="404547" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pakistan-International-Airlines">Pakistan International Airlines</keyword> (PIA) passenger plane crashed into a residential area in <keyword id="6587" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="karachi">Karachi</keyword> near the city's airport, while a search and rescue operation continued on Saturday, according to authorities. Sindh health officials have said that 97 people have been confirmed dead, while two survived the crash on Friday that took place in the densely populated Model Colony near the Jinnah International Airport, reports Dawn news. According to PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez, the A320 Airbus was carrying 91 passengers and eight crew members from Lahore to Karachi. Eyewitnesses said the flight PK 8303 appeared to attempt to land two or three times before crashing. Meeran Yousuf, the media coordinator for the Sindh Health Minister, told Dawn news that two passengers had survived and were brought to hospitals. She identified the survivors as Zubair and Zafar Masood, who is the President of Bank of Punjab. "Zubair has 35 per cent burns and is being treated at the (Dr Ruth Pfau) Civil Hospital Karachi, while Masood has four fractures and is being treated at the Darul Sehat Hospital," said Yousuf, adding that both were in stable condition. Moreover, she said that 19 victims had been identified so far. A third person, who had earlier been identified as a survivor from the plane, was later confirmed to be a resident of the area where the plane crashed. She was among the 11 persons who were injured on the ground. Meanwhile, PIA's Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal Arshad Malik has ruled any possibility that the plane had any technical or any other issue. "All standard operating procedures were followed before the plane's takeoff," The Express Tribune quoted him as saying in a news conference on Friday night. He said the inquiry will be held to ascertain the cause of crash. But <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword> Airlines Pilots' Association spokesperson Tariq Yahya, while speaking on Geo News, said that the plane seemed to be gliding at the end. "Communications show that the plane did not have power at the end and was gliding and couldn't make it to the runway," said Yahya, adding that it didn't have power when it was asked to climb to 3,000 feet. The crash came just days after Pakistan allowed the domestic flights to resume operations after being grounded for days due to the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Imran Khan has offered condolences to the families of the departed and has ensured an immediate inquiry is instituted. Federal Minister for Aviation, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, expressed his grief and sorrow over the tragedy and has instructed the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board to come up with a prompt inquiry report for the incident. In Pakistan's most recent deadly crash, a PIA plane in 2016 burst into flames after one of its two turboprop engines failed while flying from the remote north to Islamabad, killing more than 40 people. The deadliest air disaster on Pakistani soil was in 2010, when an Airbus A321 operated by private airline Airblue and flying from Karachi crashed into the hills outside Islamabad as it came into land, killing all 152 people on board.

When he finally phoned after about twenty days, he told us that he had been tricked and taken to an unknown place in Russia, where he had received weapons training for a fortnight, along with a dozen other Indians," his brother, Sajad Ahmad Kumar, told Le Monde."He was deployed near the front line with the Russian army. I spoke to him on December 26th. He cried constantly. He told me he wanted to come home," he added.Another victim told Indian news outlet <a target="_blank" href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/indians-hired-as-russian-army-security-helpers-forced-to-fight-on-ukraine-border/article67868196.ece">The Hindu</a> that at least three Indians had been forced to fight for Russian forces after having been sent there as "army security helpers."He said he had also found the job through Faisal Khan and that they had been "categorically told" that they would not be sent to the battlefield.But after receiving basic weapons training, he said they were sent to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/images-wagner-troops-descend-rostov-don-apparent-armed-rebellion-2023-6">Rostov-on-Don</a> and then on to Donetsk, where they then were forced to join the fighting.The man, who said that he had not received any of the money he had been promised for the job, told the outlet that he had been able to escape the conflict area and had been admitted to a hospital for frostbite.He added that he was now struggling to get help from the Indian Embassy in Moscow, saying he had been "turned away several times."A spokesperson for India's Ministry of External Affairs told The Telegraph that the government was working to secure the release of those stuck in Russia."We are trying our best and we are in touch, regular touch with Russian authorities both here in New Delhi and also in Moscow and we are trying to do our best," he said.

An Indian science graduate was promised a job in Dubai but was tricked into fighting for Russia, reports say

JAMMU: This may appear counter-intuitive, but PDP — the main opposition party in Jammu &amp; Kashmir — as well as Hurriyat and separatist leaders believe that BJP’s “anti-Muslim” prime ministerial nominee, <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, is the best bet for Muslim-dominated Kashmir in the hope he can address both the internal and external dimensions of the region’s problem. 
 Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat’s moderate faction, was emphatic, saying BJP had a clear stand on Kashmir and has the “capacity” and political will to solve the problem. The Mirwaiz said a decade of <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> rule at the Centre reversed the work done by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government to resolve the conflict. 
 
“There was a forward movement on Kashmir during Vajpayee’s tenure as PM. He declared Kashmir a humanitarian issue which should be addressed within the ambit of humanity,” the Mirwaiz said. 
 
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said, “A section of Kashmiris believe Modi can take some tough decisions on the Kashmir issue... (they believe) he may emulate Vajpayee who took some bold steps to infuse in the people hope of a final settlement of the Kashmir issue.” However, she ruled out alliance with BJP in the state or even in New Delhi. 
 
Other separatist groups and several political analysts in J&amp;K are also wishing for an NDA victory to take the process of a Kashmir solution forward. Prominent separatist Nayeem Khan said a BJP-led government would address Kashmir with its external and internal dimensions. “It was Vajpayee who looked for a Kashmir settlement with Pakistan. The people of J&amp;K have great respect for his statesmanship and for the initiatives he took for the settlement of the Kashmir issue,” Khan said. 
 However, Hurriyat hawk <keyword id="48746" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Syed-Ali-Shah-Geelani">Syed Ali Shah Geelani</keyword>, who opposes any dialogue with New Delhi over Kashmir, thinks only the external dimension of the issue can settle the Kashmir imbroglio. He expressed dismay over Prime Minister <keyword id="6359397" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Manmohan-Singh">Manmohan Singh</keyword>’s lack of progress in dialogue with Pakistan. 
 The Kashmiri aam admi doesn’t seem to share Geelani’s view. They feel a BJP-led government can bring peace and prosperity. “The complex Kashmir issue can neither be solved by parties in Kashmir valley nor by the announcement of frequent bandhs and strikes, but by talks with stakeholders including Kashmiris. But overall, the confidence building measures that got diluted under the UPA need to be revived,” said Mohammad Sidiq Bangroo, a political analyst in <keyword id="41568" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Srinagar">Srinagar</keyword>. 
 <keyword id="2128881" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Mohammad-Yousuf-Mir">Mohammad Yousuf Mir</keyword>, a taxi driver whose top concern is peace so that tourists flock in large numbers to the Valley, said, “Modi is said to be communal but he would bring peace in Kashmir as the Valley is important for the integrity of India. Modi would try to bring Kashmiris around by announcing more concessions for a permanent settlement.” 
 
The perception in Jammu is similar. Most Jammu residents believe Modi will try to appease Kashmiris but wouldn’t allow “any nonsense” by the Kashmir-centric parties vis-a-vis their stand on the Kashmir issue. “Modi won’t allow the regional parties to do doublespeak, which they generally do. They say one thing in Delhi and another in J&amp;K for votes in the Valley,” said Madan Lal Gupta of Jammu.
