The 2015 edition of the World Athletics <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Jason-Dufner-Wins-The-PGA-Championship/articleshow/21770198.cms">Championships</a> is scheduled to start from 22<sup>nd</sup> August and go on till 30<sup>th</sup> August in Beijing, China. This sporting extravaganza is touted to be the largest event to take place in the Beijing National Stadium after the 2008 Summer Olympics.<br />

With just one day to go for the festivities to begin, we take you through the lives of the five fastest men on Earth.<br />

<strong>1. </strong><strong><keyword id="28723" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Usain-Bolt">Usain Bolt</keyword></strong><br />
Twenty-eight year old Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is a name familiar to most of us. Widely regarded as the fastest person ever, he had announced on February that he would retire after the 2017 World Championships, making this his second-last run. Among his many achievements, one that stands out is undoubtedly him being the first man to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records.<br />
At the world championships this year, Bolt will face Justin Gaitlin for the first time and their race which will take place on Sunday evening in Beijing is easily going to be the most anticipated race.<br />

<strong>2. </strong><strong><keyword id="74856" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tyson-Gay">Tyson Gay</keyword></strong><br />
Thirty-three year old American track and field sprinter Tyson Gay is the second fastest athlete, with his 100 m personal best of 9.69 seconds making the American record. Gay is also a four-time U.S champion in the 100 m.<br />
In July 2013, Gay had tested positive for a banned substance, following which he withdrew from consideration for the World Championships in Moscow, leading to the United States Anti-Doping Agency suspending him till 23 June, 2014 and stripping him off his silver medal earned at the 2012 Summer Olympics.<br /> At the world championships this year, he is looking to emerge victorious against Justin Gaitlin, who defeated him and <keyword id="77839" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Asafa-Powell">Asafa Powell</keyword> in a 100m in Lausanne, Switzerland in July, which was considered a preview of the World Championships.<br />

<strong>3. </strong><strong><keyword id="143714" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Yohan-Blake">Yohan Blake</keyword></strong><br />
Twenty-three year old Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake became the youngest 100 m champion when he won the gold medal at the 2011 world championships. Nicknamed, ‘The Beast,” Blake’s 100 m personal best of 9.69 seconds equaled him with Tyson Gay for the distinction of the second fastest man. Blake is also the only man, apart from Usain Bolt to break the 19.30 in the 200 m.<br />
At the World Championships this year, Blake should look towards overcoming the fear of an injury, as said by his coach Glen Mills.<br />

<strong>4. </strong><strong>Asafa Powell</strong><br />
Thirty-two year old Asafa Powell, another Jamaican sprinter who specializes in 100 m races, held the 100 m world record for almost three years, between June 2005 to May, 2008, with times of 9.77 and 9.74 seconds respectively.<br />
Powell had won the men’s 100 m event at the Luzern meet this June after clocking 9.87 seconds. At the World Championships this year, he is eyeing for nothing, but gold.<br />

<strong>5. </strong><strong><keyword id="143216" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Justin-Gatlin">Justin Gatlin</keyword></strong><br />
Thirty- three year old American sprinter, Justin Gaitlin is a twice World indoor champion in the 60-metre dash, who clocked his 100 m personal best of 9.74 seconds, this May in Doha.<br />
Going head-on with Usain Bolt in the 100m and 200m races at this World Championships, Gaitlin is unfazed of the big ‘bad guy’ tag handed down to him, in case he defeats Bolt.<br />
Gaitlin also refuses to consider himself as a ‘doping cheat,’ arguing that his testing positive for a stimulant for the first time was a result of medication he was using over the years. The second, he claimed was a result of a masseur rubbing testosterone cream into his legs.<br />

World Athletics Championships: Meet the five fastest men on Earth

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="28723" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Usain-Bolt">Usain Bolt</keyword> says he's "disappointed" by Jamaica's current crop of male sprinters.</li><li>The country was without a runner in the final of the men's 100 meter dash in Tokyo.<a href="https://www.insider.com/watch-marcell-jacobs-wins-100m-olympics-succeeds-usain-bolt-2021-8"></a></li><li>"It really bothers me to know that this is where we are right now," said Bolt.</li></ul><p>Usain Bolt gave a scathing assessment of Jamaica's current crop of male sprinters, saying he's "disappointed" in their performances, and seeming to suggest they aren't training hard enough.</p><p>The Caribbean nation was without a single contender in the final of the men's 100 meter dash at the <keyword id="395647" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tokyo-Olympics">Tokyo Olympics</keyword>, <a href="https://www.insider.com/watch-marcell-jacobs-wins-100m-olympics-succeeds-usain-bolt-2021-8">with Italy's Lamont Marcell Jacobs winning an unlikely gold.</a></p><p>The last time Jamaica failed to have a runner present in the Olympic 100m final was at Sydney 2000. </p><p>It also has just one athlete, Rasheed Dwyer, in the semifinals of the men's 200 meter dash. </p><p>Bolt, the greatest men's sprinter in history, won gold in both the 100 meters and 200 meters at Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016, and <a href="https://www.espn.co.uk/olympics/story/_/id/31935188/olympics-2021-usain-bolt-experts-why-no-jamaican-men-qualified-100-meter-final">told ESPN:</a> "I felt like we had a good crop of [male] athletes for the last couple of Olympics, so for me, it really bothers me to know that this is where we are right now, where most of the world is ahead of us.</p><p>"I'm just disappointed because I think we do have the talent, it's just to harvest it and people to take the training seriously and get it done."</p><p>A number of Jamaica's potential finalists in both of the men's sprint events have been hampered by injury.</p><p>A toe injury saw 20-year-old Oblique Seville miss out on a spot in the 100m final, while Yohan Blake, who won silver in both events at London 2012, has been struggling with an injury to his leg.</p><p>The 31-year-old's time of 10.14 seconds in Sunday's semifinal wasn't enough to see him make the last eight.</p><p>"Definitely my last Olympics," Blake said after. "You know track is not easy. I won't be ungrateful. I've gained a lot. I don't think that the males are there."</p>

There are still some primetime slots left.</p><p>Seth Winter, NBC Sports Group EVP of advertising sales, says in the release: "The value of live, big-event programming is more important than ever to advertisers because of its ability to reach large audiences. The Olympics' ability to dominate primetime for 17 consecutive nights is unmatched. If brands want to reach viewers and their customers in the third quarter, they have to be in the Olympics."</p><p>The London 2012 Olympics was the most-watched television event in US history, <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/08/13/london-olympics-on-nbc-is-most-watched-television-event-in-u-s-history/">according to NBC</a>, which said it pulled in more than 219 million viewers in the US. That number was up on the 215 million who tuned in to watch the 2008 Beijing Olympics. NBC says it has already reached $1 billion in ad sales for the Rio Olympics

It's the <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/jun/27/trayvon-bromell-sprinting-world-us-trials">fastest time ever for a teenager</a> and ties for the 2nd-fastest time of 2015. At age 19 Bromell is the <a href="http://www.alltime-athletics.com/m_100ok.htm">10th-fastest man of all time,</a> and the <a href="https://twitter.com/nzaccardi/status/614242504796471296">4th-fastest American</a>. He went on to finish second to Tyson Gay in the 100m finals at the US Championships, which earned him a spot on the US team at the World Championships in Beijing in August.</p><p>"I started slowing down, I didn't want to run too fast and wear myself out," <a href="http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/252246-USATF-Outdoor-Championships-2015/video/772973-Trayvon-Bromell-runs-wind-legal-984-in-prelims#.VZFXee1VhHw">he said after his historic performance</a>. "I'm really surprised. When I slowed it down I didn't think I was going to run that fast. Man it's crazy. Historically, sprinters peak in their 20s. Alistair Tweedale&#xa0;of the Telegraph <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/athletics/11703204/The-next-Usain-Bolt-Trayvon-Bromell-is-the-fastest-teenager-ever.html">dug into the numbers and found that the five fastest active sprinters</a> - Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin, Yohan Blake - only Blake broke 10 seconds before age 20.</p><p>Bromell is <a href="https://twitter.com/usatf/status/614633824534663168">the first US teenager to ever qualify for the worlds in the 100m</a>.</p><p>Baylor coach Todd Harbour told USA Today's Paul Myerberg that <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/2015/06/27/trayvon-bromell-track-and-field-world-championship-baylor-university-star/29381627/">it's only a matter of time before a shoe company offers him a monster deal to go pro:</a></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"If he runs the way he's been running … my gosh. It's going to be hard for some of these shoe companies not to say, 'This is the next one. This is the guy we've been waiting for.' They've been waiting for the next great sprinter to come along."</p><p>Bromell's assent to the top of the US track world has been rapid. He <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/jun/27/trayvon-bromell-sprinting-world-us-trials">broke his left hip in 10th grade</a>, but two years later he set the high school record in the 100m at 9.9 seconds and won the Gatorade Track &amp; Field Athlete of the Year award.
