The December 24, 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight is getting a series treatment at Netflix with <keyword id="19913032" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="anubhav-sinha" source="keywords">Anubhav Sinha</keyword> attached as creator and director. The show is titled "IC 814: The Kandhar Hijack" and stars <keyword id="19901508" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vijay-varma" source="keywords">Vijay Varma</keyword>, Patralekha, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Amrita Puri, and Anupam Tripathi. According to the makers, the series revolves around "the 24th December 1999 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 which was en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi. It was taken to Kandahar. The hijack lasted seven days and while the crew and passengers suffered, officers back home tried to find a solution to bring them home." Sinha, known for films such as "Mulk", "Article 15" and "Bheed", said it was a responsibility to be as authentic as possible while working on the series. "When I started doing research, almost everyone remembers a few things about the hijack, and what all happened during the process. I realised it is a very complex story and a lot of things happened in those seven days and not many people know about it. "I met a lot of officers, passengers, the pilot, and there was a lot more to share. We have put it all in the show... We had to make it factually correct and yet dramatic and engaging... It was an interesting process," the director said at the Next on Netflix event here. Netflix announces series on 1999 Kandahar hijack, Anubhav Sinha to direct show

We just received the information from his family," a former India teammate of Yashpal confirmed to . According to sources, Yashpal collapsed at home after returning from his morning walk here. In his international career, Yashpal played 37 Tests, scoring 1606 runs, and 42 ODIs in which he made 883. He also picked up one wicket each in the two formats to his credit. He was known for his gutsy attitude and his stroke-filled half century in the semifinal against England in the 1983 campaign at the Old Trafford will forever be etched in the public memory. He was also a national selector during early part of 2000s. Former India captain Dilip <keyword id="31910" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vengsarkar">Vengsarkar</keyword> expressed shock at his teammate's demise. The 1983 squad had met on the sidelines of a book launch here couple of weeks ago. "It is unbelievable. He was the fittest among all of us. I had asked him that day when we met how about his routine. He was a vegetarian, teetotaller, used to have soup for his dinner and very particular about his morning walks. I am just shocked," Vengsarkar told . "As a player, he was a proper team man and a fighter. I fondly remember the 1979 Test against Pakistan in Delhi. We both had a partnership which helped us save the game. I knew him since my university days. Still can't believe it," he added. India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj is a reality series in which the channel invites contestants from all over India (and sometimes abroad) who wish to become actors in the film industry. The contestants undergo several trainings in acting, speech, dancing and overall attitude, and perform in front of judges every week, followed by the elimination based on votes. 
 Although the first season of the series received a wide fan following because of being a one of its kind show, and most of the final 32 contestants have become known faces in Indian television, the winners of the subsequent seasons could not even get a blink-and-miss appearance in any major <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> movie. 
 The first season was won by <keyword id="21729" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sarwar-Ahuja">Sarwar Ahuja</keyword> and <keyword id="516699" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Aditi-Sharma">Aditi Sharma</keyword>. As per the contract, they both were cast in a movie called Khanna &amp; Iyer, which came in 2007, three years after they were judged the winners. Even though the movie had seasoned actors like Manoj Pahwa, Mushtaq Khan and <keyword id="90309" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Yashpal-Sharma">Yashpal Sharma</keyword> in supporting roles, the movie tanked at box office. 
 
Sarwar Ahuja, who hails from Hyderabad, went on to do 4 films that went unnoticed at the box office. He was also seen in some television shows like Keshav Pandit, Jyoti, Punar Vivah and the latest, Hum Ne Li Hai... Shapath. 
 
Aditi Sharma, on the other hand, has had a pretty decent Bollywood career so far. Although her first film failed to leave a mark at BO, she was praised for her acting skills in every other film that she did, namelyBlack &amp; White, Mausam and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. She is also a known face in the Telugu film industry, as well as the Indian advertising space. 
 
The other contestants who could not win the show but managed to make a place in the hearts of viewers can also be seen doing leading and supporting roles in television shows. Some of them are Yuvika Chaudhary, Mohit Chadda, Ankita Lokhande, Sudeepa Singh, Shraddha Arya, Naman Shaw, Bharat Chawda, Bhoumik Sampat, Priti Amin, Himanshu Malhotra and Abbas Khan. 
 The second season, however, is the reason why we have our eyebrows raised over the success of the show. Blame it either on the marketing and advertising of the series or the bad luck of the contestants, but the show never got the viewership that its predecessor enjoyed. The winners, <keyword id="17982" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sabina-Sheema">Sabina Sheema</keyword> and <keyword id="2403455" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Piyush-Chopra">Piyush Chopra</keyword>, are unheard names in the industry, even after 7 years since the show was aired. 
 
Now, the third season, which starts airing today, is coming after 7 years of its predecessor. Although there is no big buzz amongst the audience as of yet, it might be a welcome change from other reality shows occupying the tellyspace if it brings good contestants and focuses on showing their transformation.

The victim used to live in Delhi and work as a tailor, they said, adding that he had fled a Ghaziabad hospital and reached his sister's place here two days ago. "The man, about 45 years of age, died at a Bareilly hospital on Tuesday. He was admitted there two days ago," Chief Medical Officer Yashpal Singh said. Man dies of COVID-19 in Bareilly, days after escaping from Ghaziabad hospital

      Hisar (Har), Apr 28 () The sample of a male tiger at Punjab's Chhatbir zoo which was sent to the National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) here has tested negative for coronavirus, an official said on Tuesday.      After the zoo administration realised that a male tiger was ill, had reduced his food intake and was having trouble in walking, he was immediately separated from all other animals.       Director of NRCE, Hisar Dr. Yashpal said the zoo authorities had sent the sample of the tiger on April 22 for a COVID-19 test. On April 23, the test report was sent to the zoo administration informing them that the tiger's sample had been found negative for coronavirus.       Alarmed by a tiger in the US testing positive for coronavirus recently, authorities in several zoos had initiated preventive measures to protect the big cats from the infection.      The Central Zoo Authority in Delhi had recently asked all the zoos across the country to remain on high alert and collect fortnightly samples of suspected cases in the wake of the US incident. Tiger at Punjab zoo tests negative for COVID-19

Muzaffarnagar (UP), May 7 () A total of 24 Tablighi Jamaat members from Karnataka and Assam were booked for staying in a mosque without giving information to police in Kairana town in Shamli district, a police official said. According to SHO Yashpal Dhama, a case was registered on Wednesday against 24 people of the Jamaat under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. The accused were found residing in Patwari mosque in Kairana town in Shamli district since April 23. In another similar case, police registered a case against 10 Tablighi Jamaat members for residing in a mosque without giving prior information at Shernagar village under New Mandi police station in Muzaffarnagar district. Police said a case was registered on Wednesday against the 10 Jamaat members under IPC Section 188 and Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act in this connection. Among the 10 people, one member tested positive ffor the virus and Shernagar village was declared a hotspot by authorities. (Eds: Updating with fresh COVID-19 cases, minor edits) Patna, Apr 9 () Bihar was rattled by a spurt of COVID-19 cases on Thursday after 19 people tested positive for the infection, taking the total number to 58, even as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar urged citizens not to "hide" their travel history. Siwan district emerged as a hotspot, accounting for 17 of the fresh cases, all but one of them members of the same family in Raghunathpur block, which has been sealed by the local administration and from where close to 100 samples were collected and rushed to the state capital for testing. The 16 COVID-19 patients from Raghunathpur include a 10-year-old boy, three girls aged between 11 and 12, nine women in the age group of 19 and 50 and two men, aged 19 and 60. According to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar, all of them had caught the contagion from a coronavirus patient who had travelled to Oman. Besides, another 36-year-old male from of the district, with a travel history to Dubai, tested positive for the virus. The total number of cases from Siwan has now reached 27 - close to half of the statewide aggregate of 58. The remaining two cases, both boys in their teens, have been reported from Begusarai. They are residents of a village in the Teghra block and are believed to have got infected by two youths of the same age group, who had tested positive on Tuesday. According to Begusarai District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Verma, none of the four boys was known to have any recent travel history, but they were said to have been interacting with clerics at a local mosque and samples were collected after the village head informed the police a few days ago that the two had developed symptoms. Verma did not rule out the possibility of a connection with the Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which has been blamed for a large number of COVID-19 cases across the country and the Delhi headquarter of which has emerged as a hotspot. In Nawada, where a man with a travel history to Delhi had tested positive for the infection on Wednesday, District Magistrate Yashpal Meena said information has been sought from the national capital as to whether the 38-year-old had taken part in the religious congregation last month. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued a fervent appeal to the people of the state -- "Do not hide your travel history, whether outside Bihar or abroad". (Eds: Adds CM's quotes, other details) Patna, Apr 9 () Bihar was rattled by a spurt in COVID-19 cases on Thursday as 12 persons tested positive and the total number crossed 50, even as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar urged people not to hide their travel history and help his government in its fight against the pandemic.Of the 12 fresh cases, 10 were reported from Siwan district -- all but one from the same family in Raghunathpur block, which has been sealed by the local administration and from where close to 100 samples have been collected and rushed to the state capital for testing.The nine cases from Raghunathpur are a 10-year-old boy, two girls aged 12 years, five women aged between 20 and 50 years and a man in his 30s.According to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar, all of them caught the contagion from a COVID-19 patient who had travelled to Oman.Besides, another 36-year-old male resident of the district with a travel history to Dubai tested positive.The remaining two cases, both teenage boys, have been reported from Begusarai. Both are residents of the Teghra block and believed to have contracted the infection from two boys in the same age group, who tested positive for the disease on Tuesday.According to Begusarai District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Verma, none of the four boys was known to have any recent travel history but they were said to have been interacting with clerics at a local mosque.  12:00 PM As protests rage on in Delhi over opposing factions over Citizenship Amendment Act, a high level urgent meeting was convened in the national capital to discuss the events. Union Home Minister Amit Shah met representatives of different political parties including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to appraise them on the status of violence caused by the protests.
