This includes India’s largest public sector bank — the State Bank of India (SBI) — and ING Australia, the fourth biggest bank on the island nation. The company also sold its entire stake in Denim Group, a application security firm, for a consideration of $22.42 million. That’s triple what Wipro paid for its 33.33% stake back in march 2018. Furthermore, the enterprise picked up a minority stake in Squadcast, an incident response platform that helps software engineers do on-call scheduling, for $1.2 million. Wipro outshines TCS, Infosys and others with a 31% jump in share price over the last two months

According to a media report, <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> may appoint some vertical heads by the end of this year. The company has already made nearly a dozen changes at about 50 verticals since December 2013. It is likely to appoint new heads for product engineering services and global SAP practice, The Economic Times Reported. 
 "<keyword id="534477" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="TK-Kurien">TK Kurien</keyword> (Wipro’s chief executive) realises that vertical heads now have the most important role to execute our long-drawn work," said a head of a vertical at Wipro. However, a company spokesperson denied the report. "Wipro has no plans to announce any organizational restructuring and any such suggestion would be purely speculative," the spokesperson said. 
 Wipro's sequential quarterly revenue growth rate has not surpassed 3% since the July-September quarter of 2012. It registered a sequential growth of 1.8% in the second quarter of FY2014-15. While its rivals Infosys and <keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword> reported growth of 3.1% and 6.4%, respectively. 
 
Kurien had earlier said that the real measure of his success would be touching the growth of 4%.

Wipro May Appoint New Vertical Heads By December, Says

Not only Wipro, all other technology firms are struggling with the increasing employee cost for quite some time. But for Wipro, the rate of employees leaving the company has been the highest in the December quarter. Going forward, the IT giant is planning to hire 30,000 freshers in 2023 as the attrition rate increases to 22% from 20.5% in the last quarter. Here’s why Infosys and Wipro shares fell despite good earnings

Wipro CEO says dollar revenue will grow 2-4% in the next three months

<ul><li><keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> added more than 12,000 employees in April-June quarter as it expects attrition rate to go up further.</li><li>The IT giant’s total headcount has risen to 209,890</li><li>Wipro reported 12.2% revenue growth in June quarter, out of which 4.9% was organic growth and the rest came through Capco.</li></ul>The war for talent seems to be a rising concern for all information technology (IT) companies in India. While Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys have started gearing up on the expectations of a rise in attrition, Wipro has added about 12,000 employees in the June quarter alone. It is the highest ever in a decade. The company’s IT services workforce crossed the milestone of 200,000 taking the overall headcount to 209,890. Wipro has added more than 12,000 employees, which is 80% of what it had added in FY21 and highest in the last decade, said Thierry Delaporte, chief executive (CEO) and managing director (MD) of Wipro. Like its peers, Wipro is also expecting the attrition rate to go up and hence it has been hiring aggressively. In fact, it will roll out 30,000 offers for freshers to join in FY22. “Attrition, as I had called out last quarter itself, will see an uptick, which is very much in line with the demand environment in the industry,” said Saurabh Govil, president and chief human resources officer at Wipro. <div type="image" title="Wipro attrition" height="900" width="1200" msid="84445950" hostid="261"></div> He mentioned that 80% of the organisation will go through three promotion cycles in 12 months- December 2020, June 2021 and again in December 2021. Besides, the company has been conducting several employee training activities and distributing bonuses to retain its employees. “We had called out last quarter that we will do a skill based bonuses [sic]… Apart from that, to augment the supply chain, we are doing unprecedented hiring in terms of freshers into the organisation. We will be onboarding 6,000 freshers in September quarter, which is the highest every Wipro has done. And we will be rolling out more than 30,000 offers this year for freshers to join us next year,” added Govil. Wipro delivered exceptional results in the June quarter with its acquisition of Capco finally making it onto the books. The company reported 12.2% sequential growth in revenue, out of which 4.9% came organically, while the rest came from Capco, said Jatin Dalal, chief financial officer at Wipro at a press conference held after the announcement of June quarter financial results. Wipro had announced its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/wipro-share-price-has-outperformed-its-peers-in-the-last-one-year-but-analysts-are-still-cautious-about-giving-it-a-buy-rating/articleshow/81345564.cms">acquisition of Capco</a> on April 29, this year, for a whopping $1.45 billion — the largest acquisition by the company that is expected to boost the consulting segment of the financial services vertical. However, the former IIT Mumbai alumnus had reportedly little experience in <a href="http://neemuchwala">client facing roles</a>, which is crucial for a software exporter like Wipro. The profit after tax in the financial year ending March 2016 was nearly ₹10,600 crore, three years later it was lower by 7%. And, the prospects are not looking very good either.

 As recently as October 2019, global investment bank Morgan Stanley placed Wipro in the ‘underperform’ list, blaming the management. “The company management is uncertain of macro environment, and with growth lower than peers, Wipro should sustain lower P/E (price-earnings) multiple,” said<a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/foreign-brokerages-give-thumbs-down-to-wipro-post-q2-numbers/articleshow/71614624.cms?from=mdr"> Morgan Stanley.</a> The ‘price to earnings ratio’ measures its current share price relative to its earnings per-share (EPS). It is a way of the company. Higher the P/E ratio, more valuable the company. After the most-recent earnings for the three months ending December 2019, Neemuchwala hinted that the worst is behind for Wipro. “If you look at the portfolio, I do feel good that things that we had set out to both reengineer our portfolio and address Wipro-specific issues, as well as a lot of the investment in capability that we have been doing where we get the mind share and traction with customers with a very robust set of deal wins gives me confidence that those issues are behind us,” <a href="https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2020/01/14/wipro-limited-wit-q3-2020-earnings-call-transcript.aspx">Neemuchwala said in a call with analysts</a>. Not just Wipro, Indian IT has struggled as a whole The challenges, especially the reliance on banking, financial services, and insurance, are not unique to Wipro. Between Brexit, the US-China trade war, and a plethora of other challenges on the global scale, the growth in the BFSI segment has been volatile at best for most IT companies.

However, Wipro was lagging behind its peers on the recovery path at the end of December 2019.

The street was clearly not enthused. “The soft guidance for 4Q (Jan-March 2020) indicates that reaching industry-level growth is an uphill task. We reckon that growth will continue to lag peers ahead based on soft outlook on around 50% of rev comprising BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance, Communications and Technology (hi-tech sub-segment),” said a report by HDFC securities. The incoming CEO after Neemuchwala has a tough task at hand to pick up a flailing business uphill in a tough business environment. That would also make it tougher for Chairman <keyword id="197349" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rishad-Premji">Rishad Premji</keyword> to find Neemuchwala’s replacement.
