WhatsApp made the announcement on its blog after <keyword id="193629" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NPCI">NPCI</keyword> that operates the UPI payment infrastructure, gave its go-ahead to WhatsApp for its payment feature using UPI. “WhatsApp designed our payments feature in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), an India-first, real-time payment system that enables transactions with over 160 supported banks. We’re excited to join India’s campaign to increase the ease and use of digital payments, which is helping expand financial inclusion in India,” read its statement. WhatsApp's payment feature has been rolled out in 10 Indian regional language versions of WhatsApp. To send money on WhatsApp in India, one needs to have a bank account and debit card in India. WhatsApp will send instructions to banks that initiate the transfer of money via UPI between sender and receiver bank accounts. “We’re delighted to be working with five leading banks in India: ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, the State Bank of India, and Jio Payments Bank. People can send money on WhatsApp to anyone using a UPI supported app,” read the statement. Payments on WhatsApp will be available for people on the latest version of the iPhone and Android app.

Selling your gold for cash could be tougher from next month onwards

<ul><li>The Indian government is pushing for <keyword id="790242" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="WhatsApp">WhatsApp</keyword>, one of the country’s most popular messaging apps, to attain ‘valid consent’ for users before they’re added to any <keyword id="2588169" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="WhatsApp-groups">Whatsapp groups</keyword>. </li><li>The app ascertained that users can only be added to Whatsapp groups if the respective admins have user contact details saved on their phones, not randomly. </li><li>The government has reaffirmed that such a safe-guard is not enough because even if a user exits a particular group, he/she is re-added multiple times by various admins. </li><li>WhatsApp is yet to respond to the matter.</li></ul>Most phones in India have Whatsapp as their default messaging app, which is why the Indian government is ensuring that user’s complaints about consent with respect to Whatsapp groups are being addressed according to the <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/industry/technology/tired-of-whatsapp-groups-govt-to-your-rescue/1407824/">Financial Express</a>. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) asked the messaging platform to introduce a feature that explicitly asks users for permission before adding them to groups within the app after the advent of repeated complaints from multiple agencies within the government. Consent, and that too ‘<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indias-telecom-regulator-is-mulling-regulation-of-messaging-services-platforms-like-whatsapp-and-hike/articleshow/66602067.cms">valid consent</a>’, has been a burgeoning issue in the advent of data breaches this past year. Whatsapp has been on the government’s radar not only for its own shortcomings in terms of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/whatsapp-says-it-will-award-1-million-to-20-research-teams-globally-to-fight-fake-news/articleshow/66608253.cms">fake news</a> but also due to its association with its parent company, Facebook and its Cambridge Analytica scandal. As per Whatsapp’s official policy, group admins can only add users to their respective groups when they have the user’s number stored in their contacts. The messaging apps <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/technology/govt-wants-whatsapp-to-take-users-consent-before-being-added-to-groups-3268751.html/amp">claims</a> that in case an user exits a group twice, they can not be added to the group a third time. But reports suggest that this isn’t necessarily true. The complaints that have come in to government relay that users have been repeatedly re-added to groups by varying admins, that cross the imposed limit to be re-added. In other cases, new groups are formed from altogether different numbers. The government agencies also warned about fake content and misinformation being spread on WhatsApp groups just ahead of <keyword id="6355644" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="elections">elections</keyword>, which has raised concerns for <keyword id="6354632" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="social-media">social media</keyword> platforms to have a robust policy. India pushing back China in race to collect Lanka port assets

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Will-public-sector-lenders-prevent-banking-industrys-futuristic-makeover/articleshow/47910582.cms">Indian banking industry </a>doesn’t usually favour individuals when borrowing isn't cheap and savings rates trail headline inflation. However, with increasing competition, new banks have started to take notice of what customers want, and accordingly offer generous interest rates. 
However, one can’t be sure about the permanence of these offerings. 
 To serve the customers, new <keyword id="2419127" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="payment-banks">payment banks</keyword> (PBs) and <keyword id="4405380" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="small-finance-banks">small-finance banks</keyword> (SFBs) are offering interest rates as high as 7.25% on savings accounts, which is more than 300 basis points higher than the 4% offered by universal banks.

However, industry analysts and experts say these initial offers are like appetizers, adding that once the market evolves, rates will comed down. 
 
"Savings accounts are meant for transactions, and our belief is that people are not rate sensitive regarding such accounts: Attractive offers can give a temporary bump, but will not be economically viable for the entity in the long run," Samit Ghosh, CEO Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, told ET.

With the rise of IPL came a generation of younger bookies and bettors, who started to place bets on these teams and earn money, going up in lakhs. While earlier these transactions happened in hard cash, now the busyness has gone digital and payments are done online.  To this, <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> founder said, “Building a company is a hard task but if you decide to start a company and begin hiring, you lose flexibility. 
 
The idea is to first start building something that you really care about and once you are confident it can turn into something good, that’s when you start hiring. That will allow you the flexibility to growth and build the way you want to.” 
 
Talking about elements of an ideal startup, he said, “You need to care. Focus on what you want to do and the impact of what you want to change.” 
 
He also spoke about challenges and mistakes. 
 
“No matter what you do, you will make mistakes. Even I made them. Mistakes in hiring, mistakes while setting up the company, the product, anything that can be done wrong, I have committed those mistakes. I was a college student and no one is born with those skills. You learn from mistakes, from trial and error. But if you do it together with your team, you get the power to wade through a lot mistakes. If you are building something that is valuable for people, they will forgive you for all the mistakes. Do as much good as you can,” said Zuckerberg. 
 
He said there will be many cultural biases and differences that any one individual will find almost impossible to deal with. However, if one faces these very challenges with partners that are building the company along with him, then the results are infinitely better. 
 
“That is why you need co founders, partners to help you through. To help you run the business successfully. There is no way a person can face all these challenges, two-three partners and a good team can power you to overcome rough patches,” said Zuckerberg.
