Los Angeles, American streamer Hulu has started developing a new version of popular series "<keyword id="16897" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prison-break" source="Orion">Prison Break</keyword>". According to news outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the new show is currently in the early stages of development and hails from "Mayans MC" showrunner Elgin James. <br /><br />If given a go-ahead, the latest iteration would be set in the same world as "Prison Break", which ran on Fox network for five seasons and also spawned a TV movie. <br /><br />The story, however, would not follow the central characters from the original show, played by <keyword id="16918" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="wentworth-miller" source="Orion">Wentworth Miller</keyword> and Dominic Purcell. <br /><br />The new installment is backed by 20th Television, and will be executive produced by James alongside Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. <br /><br />Created by Scheuring, "Prison Break" follows Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), who has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and his brother Michael Scofield (Miller), who hatches a plan to help Lincoln escape from prison. <br /><br />The series also starred <keyword id="2525119" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="robin-tunney" source="Orion">Robin Tunney</keyword>, <keyword id="1529034" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="peter-stormare" source="Orion">Peter Stormare</keyword>, Amaury Nolasco, Marshall Allman, <keyword id="19369597" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="wade-williams" source="Orion">Wade Williams</keyword> and Paul Adelstein.

Hulu develops new version of popular series Prison Break

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="16918" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Wentworth-Miller">Wentworth Miller</keyword> confirms that he will not make a "<keyword id="16897" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Prison-Break">Prison Break</keyword>" return because he is no longer interested in playing straight characters. </li><li>Miller posted to this Instagram account on Sunday and explained his decision saying that the stories of straight characters "have been told (and told)."</li><li>His former castmates, including co-star Dominic Purcell, replied in support of Miller's decision.</li></ul><p>If you were waiting on a second "Prison Break" reboot starring Wentworth Miller, you're out of luck. </p><p>The 48-year-old actor took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal that he is no longer interested in reprising his role as the criminal mastermind Michael Scofield for the popular <keyword id="17242" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Fox">Fox</keyword> series. </p><p>"I'm out. Of PB. Officially," he said. "Not bec of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told)."</p><p>He continued: "So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry. If you're hot and bothered bec you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one… That's your work. - W.M." </p><p>Miller's fictional brother and "Prison Break" co-star, Dominic Purcell, responded in support of the post. He said: "It was fun mate. What a ride it was. Fully support and understand your reasoning. Glad you have made this decision for you health and your truth. Keep the posts coming. …. love ya brother."</p><p>Sarah Wayne Callies who played Miller's wife on the show also responded to the announcement with a separate post on her Instagram account.</p><p>"With gratitude for all the work we did together, &amp; with deep love, I'm voicing my support for that choice," she wrote. "To all the fans, know this: the cast of prison break is a queer-friendly space. we stand with – and among – our friends &amp; family in the LGBTQ+ community with full-throated support for their rights and artistic work. all the time. always."</p><p>There have been several rumors, largely spurred by teasers shared by former cast members, that a sixth season of "Prison Break" was in the works. Earlier this year, <a href="https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a34105521/prison-break-season-6-dominic-purcell/">Dominic Purcell appeared to confirm a season six of the show was imminent</a>, and Fox TV president Michael Thorn said that the network was actively discussing potential <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/01/24-prison-break-update-on-potential-new-installments-reboot-new-season-revival-1202824072/">spin-offs for the show</a>. </p><p>A sixth season of "Prison Break" will mark the show's second reprisal. It first ran for four seasons from 2005-2009 and spawned a straight-to-video movie. Wentworth Miller says he's done with 'Prison Break' and playing straight characters

<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:480px"><div class="image"><p class="source">iyoshi Ota/Getty</p><p class="caption">After years of speculation, actor <keyword id="16918" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Wentworth-Miller">Wentworth Miller</keyword> finally comes out as <keyword id="6464875" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="gay">gay</keyword> in an open letter to the public.</p></div></div>"Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller officially <a href="http://www.glaad.org/blog/wentworth-miller-rejects-russian-film-festival-invitation-gay-man-i-must-decline" target="_blank">came out as gay</a> Wednesday after publicly declining an invitation to be honored at the St. Petersburg International Film Festival in protest of Russia's recently passed anti-gay laws.</p>
<p>"As a gay man, I must decline," Miller wrote in an open explanation on the <a href="http://www.glaad.org/blog/wentworth-miller-rejects-russian-film-festival-invitation-gay-man-i-must-decline" target="_blank">GLAAD website</a>.</p>
<p>He continued further in his <span>letter to festival director </span>Maria Averbakh.:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">However, as a gay man, I must decline.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where <keyword id="6360040" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="people">people</keyword> like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice.</p>

'Prison Break' sequel is moving forward at Fox

They'll be led by a man from the future, Rip Hunter ("Doctor Who's" Arthur Darvill). The 'Arrow' and 'Flash' spinoff 'Legends of Tomorrow' looks amazing

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Convicted murderers <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Richard Matt and David Sweat have pulled off what is now considered one of the longest prison escapes in New York history.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span>What's probably most striking about the escape is the similarities to the Fox television series, "Prison Break," which aired from 2005 to 2009.</span></span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span><span>In the television series "Prison Break," successful engineer Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) executes an elaborate plan to break his older brother Lincoln, who was framed for murder, out of jail. To do so, Scofield robs a bank to join his brother in jail and break him out from the inside.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span><span><span>The biggest similarity between the real-life jail break and the fictional one is the relationship between the convicts and a particular prison worker.</span></span></span></span></p><p>On Friday, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/prison-worker-accused-of-helping-two-murderers-escape-has-been-arrested-2015-6">51-year-old prison worker Joyce Mitchell</a> was arrested on charges of providing the men with the tools they needed to break out.</p><p> <span>In "Prison Break," Scofield befriends the prison nurse, secures her trust, and eventually recruits her into his escape plan, </span><span>asking her to leave the door to the infirmary unlocked - a crucial part of their path out of the prison.</span></p><p><span><span><span>Joyce Mitchell apparently told investigators she </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/joyce-mitchell-confesses-to-helping-convicts-escape-clinton-correctional-facility-2015-6">planned to drive the men away from the prison</a><span>, but later changed her mind. </span><span>The New York Daily News cites sources </span><a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/cons-planned-killing-husband-woman-aided-escape-article-1.2257909?utm_content=buffer5cc9b&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_campaign=ERosenberg+Twitter">who claim</a><span> Mitchell confessed she was going to take the convicted murderers to her home, where they would kill her husband.</span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span>While the prison nurse in "Prison Break" never arranged to have the convicts kill someone for her, the close relationship between the inmates and the prison worker is uncanny.</span></span></span></p><p><span><span>In addition, CNN </span><a href="http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/14/us/new-york-prison-break-plan/index.html">cites</a><span> authorities who say the inmates managed to leave their cells "under the cover of darkness to rehearse their escape in tunnels."</span></span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span>In "Prison Break," Michael and his hesitant cellmate make tools to burrow a hole in the wall of their cell, and rehearse their escape meticulously. On the night of the breakout, Michael (and 7 other criminals who weaseled their way into the plan) climb through the hole in the wall, and squirrel through the innermost pathways of the prison, ducking into sewer pipes, underground tunnels and long-abandoned rooms.</span></p><p><span>The home stretch is a thick bundle of wires that stretches from the prison to the wall that separates it from the outside world.</span></p><p><span>Most of them get out, some do not. But the principal characters, Michael and Lincoln are free and running for their lives. The similarities between the New York max security prison break and the show 'Prison Break' are unreal

<p>The company will check the popularity of shows on file-sharing websites when considering whether to buy broadcasting rights, an Netflix executive said.</p>
<p>Speaking ahead of the company's launch in the Netherlands, Netflix Vice President of Content Acquisition Kelly Merryman discussed the role sites such as BitTorrent have in purchase decisions.</p>
<p>"With the purchase of series, we look at what does well on piracy sites," she said a recent interview with <a href="http://tweakers.net/nieuws/91282/netflix-baseert-aanbod-deels-op-populariteit-videos-op-piraterijsites.html">Tweakers</a> .</p>
<p>Explaining the acquisition of rights to the show Prison Break in the Netherlands, she said: "Prison Break is exceptionally popular on piracy sites."</p>
<p>Prison Break is an American television series starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell which was broadcast on Fox for four seasons between 2005 and 2009.</p>
<p>Traditionally Netflix, one of world's leading video streaming sites, is seen as a rival provider to sites that offer films and television shows to download without the owners' permission.</p>
<p>Yet recent comments from another Netflix executive, CEO Reed Hastings, suggest that the company can actually benefit from the additional demand created by so-called "torrent sites".</p>
<p>"Certainly there's some torrenting that goes on, and that's true around the world, but some of that just creates the demand," Hastings said.</p>
<p>Netflix can then attempt to upsell some of those users with the offer of better overall watching experience.</p>
<p>"Netflix is so much easier than torrenting. You don't have to deal with files, you don't have to download them and move them around. You just click and watch," he said, according to <a href="http://torrentfreak.com/netflix-uses-pirate-sites-to-determine-what-shows-to-buy-130914/">TorrentFreak</a> .</p>
<p>Indeed three years after Netflix launched in Canada there is evidence that traffic to BitTorrent has halved, according to Hastings.</p>
<p>While Netflix remains heavily reliant on broadcasting shows created by other production companies, it has begun creating its own programmes.</p>
<p>Earlier this year the website premiered the political drama House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey as scheming Congressman Frank Underwood.</p>
<p>The first season's 13 episodes were released all at once for customers to watch immediately. A second season has been commissioned.</p>
