Desai, 50, suffered severe <keyword id="141908" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="brain-haemorrhage" source="Orion">brain haemorrhage</keyword> after falling on a hard surface while going for a walk outside his residence on the evening of October 15, the official said. "Desai fell and suffered a brain haemorrhage, and fainted. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital, and from there to another hospital where he underwent brain surgery. He was kept under observation, and breathed his last at around 7 pm on Sunday," said the company official who is close to the Desai family. Another official said Desai fell while trying to escape from stray dogs when out on an evening walk. Desai was one of the two executive directors on the board of the Ahmedabad-based tea group, the other being <keyword id="1904588" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="paras-desai" source="Orion">Paras Desai</keyword>. Parag Desai was the son of Managing Director Rasesh Desai. He had done his MBA from Long Island University in the USA. He spearheaded sales, marketing and export departments for the group and was an expert tea tester and evaluator. Wagh Bakri Tea Group is one of the country's leading packaged tea companies with a turnover of over Rs 2,000 crore and more than 50 million kgs of distribution. It is well-known for its premium tea and has been in business since 1892 when it was founded by Narandas Desai. "Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner of Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain haemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India," Congress' Rajya Sabha member Shaktisinh Gohil posted on X .

Homegrown auto major <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> on Monday reported narrowing of consolidated net loss at ₹4,450.12 crore in the quarter ended June 2021. The company had posted a consolidated net loss of ₹8,443.98 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations during the period under review stood at ₹66,406.05 crore as against ₹31,983.06 crore in the year-ago period, the company added. British arm <keyword id="42034" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaguar">Jaguar</keyword> <keyword id="44719" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Land-Rover">Land Rover</keyword> (<keyword id="45218" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JLR">JLR</keyword>) posted revenue of 5 billion pounds in the first quarter, up 73.7 per cent than Q1 in the prior year, the company said, adding JLR had a pre-tax loss of 110 million pounds. JLR retail sales in the first quarter were 1,24,537 vehicles, up 68.1 per cent year-on-year as sales continued to recover from the impact of the pandemic but shortage of semiconductor supplies constrained production. Commenting on the performance, JLR CEO Thierry Bollore said, "We are pleased to see a continuing positive recovery from the pandemic, with year-on-year growth in all regions, demonstrating the appeal of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles." Though the current environment continues to remain challenging, he said, "We will continue to adapt and manage elements that are within our control and ensure that Jaguar Land Rover is well-placed to respond to any further market developments." On a standalone basis, Tata Motors said its continuing business posted a net loss of ₹1,320.74 crore, putting up a better performance from a net loss of ₹2,190.64 crore in the year-ago period. Standalone total revenue from operations stood at ₹11,904.19 crore as against Rs 2,686.87 crore in the same period a year ago, the company said. "In Q1FY22 wholesales, including exports, increased 351.4 per cent to 1,14,170 units. The volumes across all segments significantly grew as compared to Q1 FY21, however they were lower than Q4 FY21 due to the lockdowns imposed due to the second wave of pandemic," Tata Motors said. Company Executive Director Girish <keyword id="1316783" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wagh">Wagh</keyword> said the successful implementation of a comprehensive 'Business Agility' plan enabled it to manage lockdowns effectively and also deliver competitive growth as markets reopened. "In the near term, we remain focused on fulfilling customer demands while driving all levers of the business to mitigate the unprecedented commodity inflation," he added. Looking beyond the short-term challenges, Wagh said, "We see significant opportunities to leverage the mega trends shaping the Indian automotive industry." The company is working to transform the customer experience digitally and also strengthen our lead in sustainable mobility, he said adding "we will continue to make the requisite investments to ensure a competitive product portfolio whilst driving down the cash break-evens of the business to deliver consistent, competitive and cash accretive growth over the medium to long term". Tata Motors’ net loss narrows on strong growth in exports

India's largest <keyword id="19657" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="automobile-company">automobile company</keyword> <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has come up with a new version of sports utility vehicle (<keyword id="45454" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SUV">SUV</keyword>) <keyword id="1127321" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Safari-Storme">Safari Storme</keyword> in the market, with prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 
 

	So what’s new in the updated version of Safari Storme? As per a PTI report, the SUV comes with a host of integrated connectivity features for a more complete vehicle experience, new design elements to the exteriors and the interiors. 
	 

	Further, the vehicle has various features including a multi-function steering wheel, dual air-conditioning, anti-lock braking system and electronic brake distribution. "The new Safari Storme launched today is based on Tata Motors Horizonext strategy, having evolved for a more engaging and connected drive, boasting added masculinity, with increased power," Girish Wagh, Tata Motors senior vice-president, <keyword id="1679682" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Passenger-Vehicles-Business-Unit">Passenger Vehicles Business Unit</keyword>, said in a statement. 
	 

	Tata Motors had launched the Safari SUV in 1998 and the company has so far sold over 1.20 lakh units in India.

Tata Motors’ new Safari Storme valued at Rs 9.99 lakh

With refinement of engine playing hurdle, <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> is scrapping the plan to introduce diesel powered <keyword id="6371021" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Nano">Tata Nano</keyword> anytime soon. As per a news report by The Economic Times, the company, which is launching the GenX Nano soon with newer cosmetic changes, had developed a 2-cylinder 800 cc diesel engine that was also aimed at powering the small car. However, for the time being they won’t be implementing the same. 
 "The reason is that as we stand now, refinement is a challenge and what refinement can be given on this kind of a car (Nano) won't be acceptable to the Indian customer," Tata Motors Senior <keyword id="11696" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vice-President">Vice President</keyword> (Programme, Planning &amp; Project Management, Passenger Vehicles) <keyword id="6427444" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Girish-Wagh">Girish Wagh</keyword> told news agency <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword>. 
 
"Economics is also a challenge... When diesel price comes to its natural level, all the price advantage will go. Although it has higher fuel efficiency, meeting higher emission norms in diesel is more costly... Therefore, below a particular price level, diesel making economic sense both for the customer and the OEM is very difficult," Wagh added. 
 
When asked if the company has completely given up on a diesel Nano, Wagh said: "We continue to work on it. We don't rule out any possibility but currently the refinement and economics for both the customer and the OEM is a challenge."

​Diesel-driven Tata Nano is now a distant dream

These days whenever Maruti gives the shout of credibility with its Alto being the best small car of the decade, there’s a honk followed by a feeble head lamp. It’s <keyword id="6371021" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Nano">Tata Nano</keyword> promising an enhanced feel every now and then. Ever since the much talked about (thanks to the then opposition and now CM of <keyword id="6357783" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-Bengal">West Bengal</keyword>, Mamata Baneerjee) Tata Nano came into being its has undergone some kind of changes in every <keyword id="106984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="edition">edition</keyword>. While most of the time, the changes have remained limited to cosmetic, this time Tata Nano is quite serious of the makeover. 
 As Tata rolls out the all new NextGen Nano, the Indian carmaker seems to be more concerned about <keyword id="154361" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="feedback">feedback</keyword>, interestingly both urban and rural. Cars in India have mostly been known for its suitability with urbanity. However Tata Nano being priced quite low, it’s appeal has extended even to the small towns and villages where driving a car is considered a luxury. 
 Talking to 1500 Nano owners , Tata has zeroed on the fact that Indian <keyword id="624" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Women">women</keyword> like coloured interiors. At least that’s what Girish Wagh, Tata Motors' <keyword id="192401" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="senior-VP">senior VP</keyword> told the media recently. 
 While smoothness in drive was <keyword id="6357415" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="missing">missing</keyword> in the Nano, the new edition of NextGen Nano adds to the comfort with electric power-assisted steering systems and AMT (automated manual transmission), a hype Maruti is encashing on with its Celerio. With a 5th speed gear in auto transmission , Tata’s new Nano sounds like a super powered entry level car. 
 
While Nano with diesel engine is on cards, NextGen Nano has a small bootleg fit to store a strolley and two hand bags. While 624 cc/37.4 bhp engine at rear still remains the same, the growling like autorickshaw sound seems to have disappeared from inside. 
To enhance safety, the front has been enabled to the frontal-crash crumple zone. 
With competition breathing warm on the shoulder, Tata Nano has to do something to grow in the car market. The Indian car market, which is yet to pick up speed in recent years, has seen quite a few revolutions. While Maruti is doing well with Alto 800 and Alto K10 in the low priced market, new players including Datsun is reshaping the market in this segment.

The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,496.04 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,19,986.31 crore, as compared to Rs 1,05,932.35 crore in the year-ago period. In <keyword id="20028449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q4" source="keywords">Q4</keyword> FY24, Tata Motors said all three auto businesses delivered strong performance. The company's British arm Jaguar Land Rover had "another record-breaking quarter in Q4 FY24. Revenue for the quarter was 7.9 billion pounds, up 11 per cent versus Q4 FY23", Tata Motors said. JLR's Profit After Tax (PAT) in Q4 was 1.4 billion pounds as against a profit of 259 million pounds in the same quarter a year ago, it added. The Board of Directors have recommended a final dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share and a special dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share subject to approval by the shareholders. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated net profit was at Rs 31,806.75 crore as compared to Rs 2,689.87 crore in the previous fiscal, the company said. In FY24, total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,37,927.77 crore as compared to Rs 3,45,966.97 crore in FY23. <keyword id="20430970" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors-group" source="keywords">Tata Motors Group</keyword> Chief Financial Officer, PB Balaji said in FY24 the Tata Motors Group delivered its highest-ever revenues, profits, and free cash flows. "The India business is now debt-free, and we are on track to become net automotive debt-free on a consolidated basis in FY25. The businesses are executing well on their distinct strategies and therefore, we are confident of sustaining this strong performance in the coming years," he added. JLR's revenues for FY24 were 29 billion pounds, its highest-ever full-year revenue and up 27 per cent compared to the prior year, while PAT for FY24 was 2.6 billion pounds. "We have delivered a record financial performance for the company, generating free cash flow of 2.3 billion pound, enabling us to reduce net debt to 0.7 billion pound," JLR Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mardell said. The foundation of this performance was the sustained global demand for JLR's modern luxury vehicles, led by Range Rover and Defender brands, underpinned by a consistent focus on operational improvement, he added. Tata Commercial Vehicles' Q4 FY24 revenue was at Rs 21,600 crore, while FY24 revenue was Rs 78,800 crore. In Q4 FY24, domestic wholesale commercial vehicles (CV) volumes were 1,04,600 units, lower 7 per cent year-on-year on account of increased pre-buy in Q4 FY23 due to BS6 Phase II transition, the company said. Tata Motors Ltd Executive Director Girish Wagh said the Indian CV industry grew by a modest 2 per cent in volumes during FY24, impacted by a high base effect of FY23, elections held across five states and the announcement of general elections. "Our sharp focus on profitable growth resulted in the CV business recording its highest-ever revenues of Rs 78,800 crore and profits of Rs 6,100 crore in FY24. Going forward, we will intensify our efforts to grow market share, profitably and consistently, in every business segment by delivering more value to customers with innovative products, smarter services and holistic mobility solutions," he added. Tata Passenger Vehicles clocked revenue of Rs 14,400 crore in Q4 while for the full year FY24 it was at Rs 52,400 crore. In Q4, Passenger Vehicle (PV) volumes were at 1,55,600 units, up 14.8 per cent from the year-ago period, supported by new SUV facelifts and multiple power trains, the company said. "Passenger vehicle sales in India set a record in FY24 with over 4.2 million units sold, driven by SUVs (50 per cent of overall sales) and emission-friendly powertrains. Tata Motors recorded its third consecutive year of highest sales volumes with 6 per cent growth in wholesales and 10 per cent in retail sales over FY23," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. The company sold 73,800 EVs during the year, marking a 48 per cent increase as compared to FY23 and crossed a milestone of 1.5 lakh cumulative EV production, he added. Tata Motors Q4 consolidated net profit jumps over 3-fold at ₹17,528.59 crore

He serves as a showrunner and co-director on the project. At the time of publishing this copy, the Nifty Auto index is trading flat while the benchmarks – Nifty50 and BSE Sensex – are half a percent in the green. India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has delivered an 8% increase in sales for the month of June, as compared to last year, thanks to the improved performance of its SUV range like Brezza, Grand Vitara and Ertiga – which surged two-fold. Even as sales of its mini cars – Alto and S-Presso fell marginally, compact car sales like Swift, Celerio, and Baleno slumped by 17%. However, its overall sales are lower than Jefferies’ expectations of 1.68 lakh units in June. As per Anand Rathi, the company management expects 5-7% industry volume growth in FY24, and Maruti Suzuki volume growth in double digits. The stock fell around 0.8% in early trade. Tata Motors posted a flat sales of 1% growth in domestic sales in June. Jefferies predicted that Tata Motors will see a 4-5% YoY decline mainly led by lower LCV volumes. Commercial vehicle sales fell by 15%, even as passenger sales went up by 8%. However, Girish Wagh, executive director of Tata Motors says that they showed a month-on-month improvement. “For the month of June 2023, they were 20.2% higher than the vehicle sales registered in May 2023. Looking ahead, the promising monsoon and continuing infrastructure thrust by the government augers well for the CV industry, even as it faces the headwinds of high interest rates, fuel prices and inflation,” said Wagh. The stock too has been trading flat as it fell by 0.2% in early Monday trade. Mahindra &amp; Mahindra’s stock was trading higher by 1.6% as it presented a strong 21% growth in overall auto sales. The BSE auto index is trading down by 0.6% as of 11:44 am, with most stocks in the red. 2W sales suffer on tepid exports Bajaj Auto sales fell by 2% overall, but the fall is lower than expected as Jefferies predicted it to fall to 3.3 lakh on account of lower exports. However, the automaker withstood it to 3.40 lakh. In spite of it, the stock fell by 1.1%. TVS Motors’ sales grew 4% but the growth was lower than analyst expectations – leading to a 0.7% fall in the stock. Hero Motocorp stock also fell by over 1.7% after it reported a 9.8% fall in sales. The company however hopes sales will pick up in the coming months. “The onset of monsoon in most parts of the country and overall economic indicators bode well for a growth in demand, and industry The company recorded a new sales peak of 5,592 units of electric vehicles in the third quarter of FY22, which is a growth of 345% year-on-year. However, the excitement around the rising sales may not remain long as the company admits it is cautious as the semiconductor shortage continues along with rising covid cases. “Going forward, we expect the situation to remain fluid as the semiconductor shortage continues, instances of COVID begin to rise and underlying demand continues to remain under pressure,” said Girish Wagh, executive director at Tata Motors in an exchange filing. New Delhi, Automobile major <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> on Thursday launched a new range of intermediate and light commercial trucks -- Ultra Sleek T-Series -- which it hoped will fulfill the growing demand for such vehicles in the country. According to the company, fast economic recovery has galvanised the demand for commercial vehicles. "We are seeing a gradual economic recovery happening. Headline numbers are pointing towards this recovery," Girish Wagh, President, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors told <keyword id="105681" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IANS">IANS</keyword>. "There is both, upsurge in rural as well as urban demand." On Thursday, the company launched -- Ultra Sleek T-Series -- trucks which are aimed for urban transportation. As per the company, these trucks are available in three models - T.6, T.7 and T.9 with varied deck lengths from 10 to 20 feet to adapt to all the required applications. "Affirming its versatility, 'Ultra Sleek T-Series' has variants available in 4-tyre and 6-tyre combinations and varied deck lengths, the range is curated to suit diverse transportation needs," the company said in a statement. "It is equipped to cater to a wide variety of applications, such as transportation of e-commerce products, <keyword id="34523" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="fmcg">FMCG</keyword>, industrial goods, <keyword id="6360114" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lpg">LPG</keyword> cylinders, and refrigerated containers for transportation of Covid-19 vaccine, pharmaceuticals as well as food items such as eggs, milk and fresh farm produce." The new truck range is powered by the <keyword id="2941346" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BS6">BS6</keyword> 4SPCR engine, with a 100hp power and a torque rating of 300Nm, the range provides optimum power and best-in-class fuel efficiency.
