Vserve claims in its press statement, the total revenue of telecom and direct-to-home (DTH) services in India stood at around $31 billion last year 2014. Roughly 10% of these revenues were generated online and this side of the business is expected to grow by 300% in the next 4 years.

Seeing the Indian startups at a crucial juncture , the offshore investment funds are aiming to bank upon early-stage startups such as Zop-Now, Vserv and <keyword id="143842" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mobikwik">MobiKwik</keyword>, says an Economic Times report. But as these investors plant themselves firmly in India's startup landscape, analysts as well as entrepreneurs are doubtful about the funds' potential to abruptly pull out in a crisis, as they did during the economic downturn that began in 2008. 
	 
	A long-anticipated interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve, the ongoing Eurozone crisis, and flat economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region could force hedge funds to slow their pace of startup investments in India, experts told the financial daily. "Hedge funds, above all, need liquidity. They have redemption windows. Instead of investing in an unlisted company, if they can get the same risk-reward by investing in a publicly listed entity, they will obviously swap," Srinivas Baratam, managing director at investment bank Kriscore Financial <keyword id="159121" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="advisors">Advisors</keyword> told the ET. 
	 
	Overall, 14 hedge funds including new entrants such as Maverick Capital, Tree Line Asia and Dragoneer Investment Group participated in transactions worth about $3.8 billion in Indian companies since the beginning of 2014, according to Tracxn, which tracks startup activity. These deals accounted for 31.3% of the total $12 billion pumped into Indian tech companies in the past 16 months. 
	 
	Ashish Goel, founder and chief executive of Urban Ladder in which Steadview Capital led a $20 million round in July 2014, believes hedge funds have a capacity to be long-term investors comparable with venture capitalists.

	Advertising: We partner with app developers and publishers to serve ads on their inventory. Advertisers looking to reach users on mobile, pay us for displaying ads on the apps and we share 60% of this revenue with the developers/publishers where these ads are served.
 

	Micro transaction: We partner with app developers and publishers to help them monetise their apps. A developer uses the AppWrapper to enable multiple types of pricing models and can plug in his choice of billing connectivity pipes (app store billing, direct telco billing, etc.).

	What are the new features introduced in 2013? We introduced our AudiencePro platform this year, a platform that has redefined the way targeted advertising is done on the mobile medium. <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> evaluated our platform and partnered with us to become the first telco to deploy AudiencePro. 

	We also saw that mobile advertising, while being super targeted, still lacked the key targeting parameters (like demographics and spending power) required by brands. While this data exists with different entities across the ecosystem, it is fragmented and, therefore, unusable in a scalable manner. This Mobile Advertising Network Wants To Get To The Number 1 Spot And Aims To Become A US$100 Million Company By 2015

Bengaluru-based <keyword id="2778113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rentomojo">Rentomojo</keyword>, a furnishing rental platform, has raised $2 million in Pre Series A from <keyword id="144381" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Accel-Partners">Accel Partners</keyword> and <keyword id="145350" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDG-Ventures">IDG Ventures</keyword>. 
 
Founded in 2014 by IIT Madras alumni, Geetansh Bamania and Ajay Nain, Rentomojo lets users rent furniture and home furnishings for a minimum period of three months. 
 
After the funding, Venkatesh Peddi from IDG Ventures India and Prashanth Prakash from Accel Partners have joined the board of Directors of Rentomojo, which currently operates in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bengaluru. 
 
Bamania, co-founder and CEO, Rentomojo said, “We are witnessing the birth of Access Economy with the advent of Airbnb, Uber, Rentherunway and the likes. We want our users to get an access to a personalized lifestyle without actually owning it. We work as a marketplace and keep this business asset light.” 
 
Accel Partners was one of the first investors for Flipkart, Freshdesk, Myntra and Commonfloor as well. meanwhile, IDG Ventures India is part a global network of technology venture funds and has invested in Flipkart, Yatra, Newgen, Brainbees (FirstCry.com), Vserv, Manthan Software, Valyoo (Lenskart.com), Ozone Media and Actoserba (Zivame.com).

Furnishing rental platform, Rentomojo, gets Pre Series A funding, raises $2 million

Nadella also promised that Microsoft will unify their stores, commerce and developer platforms. This move comes in after the company announced “Universal Windows Apps” at its Developer’s Conference in April, a key announcement for app developers. This would mean that developers would only need to write their app once for it to be compatible with all the major versions of Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox. It is aiming to boost its market share by making Windows free of charge for phones and tablets with screens smaller than 9 inches. This support is being reciprocated by app developers with the Windows Phone OS showing the fastest rate of adoption among mobile developers. 
 
The Road Ahead <keyword id="6377157" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IDC">IDC</keyword> predicts that the top three smartphone platforms (Android in top spot, followed by iOS and Microsoft’s Windows Phone) will retain their rankings over the next four years, with the top two platforms share shrinking and Windows Phone growing with shipments expected to reach 115 million in 2018. IDC expects Android's market share to slip mainly as a result of Windows Phone growth, especially with its attractive pricing. Furthermore, Microsoft is consolidating its third place position and steady growth in emerging markets where it receives strong consumer support, outselling the <keyword id="6354606" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="iPhone">iPhone</keyword> in several countries. iOS shipments are expected to shrink to 13.7 percent by 2018 due to their higher price due to market demand being focused on lower-cost phones. While Android will lead markets driven by cost competition, IDC predicts the largest drop in Windows Phone prices among the top three platforms.
