GoDaddy launches new marketing campaign with MS Dhoni to inspire local businesses in India

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Secretive data-analytics company <keyword id="1058282" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Palantir">Palantir</keyword> is developing a system to help local authorities decide where to allocate <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword> vaccines, the Wall Street Journal reported.</li><li>The system is called Tiberius, and is named after Captain Kirk from the "Star Trek" franchise.</li><li>A document seen by the Journal said Tiberius will analyze "demographic, employment, and public health data" to aid local officials in deciding high-priority populations to vaccinate.</li><li>Palantir, cofounded by Silicon Valley mogul and vocal Trump-supporter Peter Thiel, has come under fire from human rights groups in the past for its contracts with the US government.</li></ul><p>Data-analytics firm Palantir, which has drawn fire from human rights groups for its US government contracts, is reportedly working on a tool to help local authorities decide where to distribute COVID-19 vaccines.</p><p>The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/palantir-to-help-u-s-track-covid-19-vaccines-11603367276">reported the news on Thursday</a>, citing state and local health officials briefed on the project. Palantir did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.</p><p>The software Palantir is developing is called Tiberius, and it will pool coronavirus data to help officials where to allocate vaccines, the Journal reported. It could show, for example, areas with high proportions of healthcare workers, clinically vulnerable people, or elderly people.</p><p>A spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services told the Journal that Palantir is acting as a subcontractor building Tiberius. She also said no personally identifiable information will be used by the project.</p><p>Palantir, which was cofounded by Silicon Valley mogul and vocal Trump-supporter Peter Thiel, has been criticized in the past for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/activists-protest-palantir-across-the-us-over-its-ice-contracts-2020-9">its contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)</a>.</p><p>A document created by Palantir about Tiberius, seen by the Journal, said it would "integrate a wide range of demographic, employment, and public health data sets to identify the location of priority populations."</p><p>Combined with infection data, the idea is the tool will enable local officials to "proactively identify distribution bottlenecks, inventory constraints, and gaps in administration across key populations," the document said.</p><p>Another of Palantir's services, called <keyword id="333946" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="HHS">HHS</keyword> Protect, is also currently being used by the HHS Department to track COVID-19 hospitalizations. The department's spokeswoman said Tiberius is built on the same software as HHS Protect.</p><p>The HHS spokeswoman also said the project was named after Captain Kirk from "Star Trek," whose middle name is Tiberius. </p>

"Next Monday, May 18th, marks two weeks following the May 4th Order loosening restrictions," the statement said. Tesla allowed to restart 'full production' in California after contentious battle with county officials, company execs tell employees

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Business Insider/Sam Shead</span></p><p class="caption">Apple's office at 90 Hills Road in Cambridge.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Apple has a secret office in Cambridge where it's working on Siri, the company's AI-powered personal assistant, according to multiple sources.</p><p>Walking around Cambridge, you'll be hard pushed to find many people outside the tech community who know that the world's most valuable company is developing one of its most important products in their city.</p><p>But that's exactly what Apple is doing in an unmarked office at 90 Hills Road, located approximately five minutes walk from the city's train station.</p><p>Those working inside are aiming to make Siri talk more naturally, according to a source that knows a number of Apple's Cambridge employees.</p><p>Two employees of a local company in an office less than 100 metres away had no idea that Apple had an office in Cambridge. However, an employee of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, which is located next to the building, confirmed that Apple is indeed the tenant.</p><p>Interestingly, the office doesn't show up in the right place on Google Maps. Apple has a lot of room to hire more people at the office, the source added.</p><p>In terms of why Apple chose to locate itself at 90 Hills Road, the source said that the property market is "tight" in Cambridge so it was "one of limited choices." They added that the office's close proximity to the train station makes it "commutable" for those that live in London, which can be reached in less than an hour by train.</p><p>Apple's only other known office in the <keyword id="6354868" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="UK">UK</keyword> is located just off Regent Street, in London. However, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/apple-uk-headquarters-14-billion-redevelopment-battersea-power-station-2016-10" target="_blank">the company plans</a> to move 1,400 employees into a new office in Battersea Power Station in 2021. Apple also employs over 5,000 people in Ireland, where its European headquarters are located. </p><p>Apple is competing with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google when it comes to creating AI-powered personal assistants. "I think it's extremely unlikely that [VocalIQ] is in Siri now," the source said. "In fact, I'm pretty sure it isn't. But obviously Apple have got it for a reason."</p><p>The source said they could tell that VocalIQ's technology hadn't been integrated into Siri just by talking to the personal assistant. VocalIQ has a "a very particular style of dialogue ... and I haven't seen that in Siri," they said.</p><p>But one of VocalIQ's early investors told Business Insider that it was "hard to tell" whether VocalIQ was in Siri or not. Earlier this year <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/how-apples-vocaliq-ai-works-2016-5?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank">Steve Kovach reported</a>:</p><p>"According to a source familiar with VocalIQ's product, it's much more robust and capable than Siri's biggest competitors like Google Now, Amazon's Alexa, and Microsoft's Cortana. In fact, it was so impressive that Apple bought VocalIQ before the company could finish and release its smartphone app. After the acquisition, Apple kept most of the VocalIQ team and let them work out of their Cambridge office and integrate the product into Siri."</p><p>He went on to write:</p><p>"It's still unclear when Apple plans to implement more of VocalIQ's capabilities into Siri. One source speculated that it may happen slowly over time, so as not to throw off users with a radical change. Tesla drops its lawsuit against California county over coronavirus shutdown

<keyword id="6355629" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google" source="Orion">Google</keyword> has alerted <keyword id="51500" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gmail" source="Orion">Gmail</keyword> users about five key scams and spams during the holiday season.<br /><br />The company advised users to avoid gift card and giveaway frauds, charity-related scams, demographic targeting scams, subscription renewals frauds and crypto scams.<br /><br />The tech giant protects users from around 15 billion unwanted messages a day and blocks more than 99.9 per cent of spam, phishing and malware, the company said in a blog post.<br /><br />A gift card and giveaway frauds are common during the peak holiday season. Many developments, pertaining to the airline, have occurred in a span of 1-2 weeks.<br /><br /> According to reports, the aviation security agency BCAS on Wednesday withdrew the accreditation given to Jet Airways' aviation security training facilities while last Monday, the airline temporarily cut the salaries of some staff by up to 50 per cent and some were sent on leave without pay.<br /><br /> In five days, the shares of the airline, which is currently at Rs 65.55 apiece, went down by almost 18 per cent while its shares declined 30.74 per cent in the past month. Its shares had been dropping by 45.01 per cent in the past six months. <br /><br /> Adding one more hurdle to the headwinds, the aviation security agency Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has withdrawn the accreditation given to Jet Airways' aviation security training facilities amid continuing uncertainty over the recommencement of the airline's operations,<br /><br /> "The competent authority has revoked the accreditation granted to both the Aviation Security Training Institutes (ASTIs) of <keyword id="15595241" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jet-airways-at" source="Orion">Jet Airways at</keyword> <keyword id="11900977" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gurugram" source="Orion">Gurugram</keyword> and Mumbai.
