Paris [France], August 8 (ANI): India wrestler <keyword id="20430890" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aman-Sehrawat" source="keywords">Aman Sehrawat</keyword> qualified for the <keyword id="20700639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="semi-finals" source="keywords">semi-finals</keyword> with another stunning display in the men's 57kg quarter-finals on Thursday at the <keyword id="20006192" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paris-Olympics" source="keywords">Paris Olympics</keyword>.<br /><br />Aman stormed into the semi-finals to have a chance of competing for the medal with a <keyword id="22702306" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="technical-superiority" source="keywords">technical superiority</keyword> 12-0 win over Albania's Zelimkhan Abakanov.<br /><br />Aman will compete with Japan's Rei Higuchi later on Thursday to fight for a chance to play for India's first gold medal at the Paris Olympics. <br /><br />He got his first point in the bout due to passivity from the Albanian wrestler. He went on to complete a takedown to take a 3-0 lead in the first period. <br /><br />In the second period, he outplayed Abakanov with his remarkable skillset to storm into the final four. <br /><br />Earlier on Thursday, Aman defeated former European champion Vladimir Egorov by a technical superiority 10-0 win in the first round to reach the quarter-finals.<br /><br />However, it wasn't sunshine for all the wrestlers at the Paris Olympics. Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the 50 kg freestyle wrestling final at the Paris Olympics after breaching the weight limit.<br /><br />She announced her retirement from wrestling following her disqualification in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling final.<br /><br />Anshu Malik, who featured in the women's 57 kg freestyle category, lost to USA's Helen Maroulis by 2-7.<br /><br />Nisha Dahiya's Paris Olympics campaign met an unfortunate end as she succumbed to North Korea's Pak Sol Gum in the quarter-finals of the women's 68 kg event. <br /><br />Nisha faced an 8-10 loss to Sol Gum. At one point, she was leading by 8-2, but she faced an injury and had to take some medical timeouts. Sol Gum took full advantage of her opponent's injury and made a comeback, which helped her prevail over Nisha.<br /><br />Antim Panghal lost to Zeynep Yetgil of Turkey in the women's 53 kg freestyle round of 16 bout. Paris Olympics: Aman Sehrawat storms into semi-finals with technical superiority win in men's 57kg event

Aman Sehrawat wins bronze, carries forward Chhatarsal's rich legacy

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Vladimir Egorov, a pro-Putin politician, fell to his death out of a third-story window last week.</li><li>Egorov was 46 at the time of his death, Russian media outlets reported.</li></ul><p>A prominent Russian politician fell out of a third-story window last week, adding to Russia's growing toll of suspicious high-profile deaths.</p><p>Vladimir Egorov, a politician in Putin's United Russia party, was found dead outside his Tobolsk home on Wednesday after falling from a third-story window, Russian media outlets reported.</p><p>According to a CNN report citing Russia's Kommersant newspaper, Egorov was just 46 at the time of his death.</p><p>Russia's state-run media service TASS reported the politician was found dead in Toblosk, the city where he lived. Baza, an unofficial Telegram channel with links to national security services, clarified that the politician was found dead in the courtyard outside his home, per CNN's report.</p><p>An autopsy is underway to confirm details of Egorov's death, which couldn't be confirmed by investigators at the time, Kommersant reported. Investigators found no "external signs of criminal death" on his body, the outlet said.</p><p>Egorov's death adds to a string of mysterious high-profile deaths in Russia, which include public figures and prominent businessmen <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/top-russian-military-official-dies-fall-window-high-rise-2023-2"><u>falling out of windows</u></a>, death by suicide, or <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/these-are-all-the-russian-oligarchs-mysteriously-died-in-2022-2022-4"><u>otherwise dying of unclear</u></a> or bizarre circumstances.</p><p>Some of those figures have been noted to be vocal critics of Putin. Patel Antov, a policymaker who criticized Russia's war with Ukraine, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/putin-critic-pavel-antov-dies-falling-out-hotel-window-2022-12"><u>died falling from a hotel window in late 2022.</u></a></p><p>Ravil Maganov, an energy oligarch who was also critical of Russia's war, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/lukoil-oligarch-fell-fell-out-of-window-died-state-2022-9"><u>died falling out of the window of a hospital room</u></a>, which law enforcement said was likely a suicide.</p><p>But not all of those who have died under mysterious circumstances were overtly anti-Putin. Anna Tsareva, an editor at a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-deputy-editor-of-newspaper-favored-by-putin-was-found-dead-at-35-2023-12"><u>pro-Putin newspaper</u></a> who was found dead in her apartment in mid-December, TASS originally reported. Her death comes about a year after the death of her boss, editor-in-chief <span>Vladimir Nikolayevich Sungorkin, who was</span> also known to be a Putin supporter.</p>

Russia's Su-57 'stealth' fighter may never see real combat as delays hit and only 1 jet works properly

<p>Russia's submarine fleet is one of the most capable in the world, perhaps second only to that of the United States. And it is only getting better.</p><p>Although a holdover from the Cold War, Russia has been steadily investing in and modernizing its fleet in both capabilities and range. Russian President Vladimir Putin has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-russias-grandiose-plans-for-upgrading-their-navy-2015-1">grand plans</a> to modernize the fleet through the purchase of additional submarines coupled along the development and acquisition of new models.</p><p>And Putin's plan has so far worked. Russian submarines are <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/russian-submarine-activity-in-atlantic-highest-since-cold-war-2016-2">active again</a> in the North Atlantic at similar levels as the Cold War. And their training and professionalism is suddenly drawing the concern of NATO. These subs are faster than diesel-electric submarines, larger, and can dive to significantly deeper depths. These subs carry ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. </span></p><p>The final class of submarine in the fleet are nuclear-powered attack subs. These submarines are generally the fastest in the fleet and are usually slightly smaller than ballistic missile subs, although they can usually operate at lower depths. These subs are used to hunt ballistic missile submarines as well as enemy ships. In some cases, the subs can be armed with vertical-launch tubes to target land-based targets. </p><p>Russia <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-russias-grandiose-plans-for-upgrading-their-navy-2015-1">plans</a> to replace its Delta III and Delta IV-class subs with Borei II submarines in the coming years. The Oscar II-class sub will be replaced with the entirely new Yasen submarine class after 2020. </p><p>Of course, continued Russian modernization of its fleet may face some serious issues. <p>Russia's submarine fleet is one of the most capable in the world, perhaps second only to that of the United States.</p>
<p>The submarine fleet is mostly a holdover from the days of the Cold War. Nuclear-armed Soviet and US submarines would pursue each other across the world's oceans and act as second-strike options in the event of all-out nuclear war. </p>
<p>Although Russia's submarine fleet had aged and shrunk since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Russian President Vladimir Putin has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-russias-grandiose-plans-for-upgrading-their-navy-2015-1">grand plans</a> to modernize the fleet through the purchase of additional submarines coupled along the development and acquisition of new models.</p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Russia's submarine fleet is divided into three broad categories: diesel-electric powered submarines, nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, and nuclear-powered attack submarines. Each variation has its own unique purpose and is further sub-divided into varying models. </span></p>
<p>Russia's diesel-electric submarine fleet is the least technologically advanced segment of the fleet and also the cheapest to acquire and maintain. These submarines, which are smaller and slower and have a shorter range than their nuclear counterparts, are limited in their total operational depth and are used for attacking surface ships and merchant vessels. </p>
<p>Russia <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-russias-grandiose-plans-for-upgrading-their-navy-2015-1">plans on adding</a> an additional six Kilo-class submarines to the Black Sea Fleet, along with 14 to 18 diesel-electric submarines similar to Lada-class subs over the next fifteen years. </p>

These subs are faster than diesel-electric submarines, larger, and can dive to significantly deeper depths. These subs carry ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. </span></p>
<p>The final class of submarine in the fleet are nuclear-powered attack subs. These submarines are generally the fastest in the fleet and are usually slightly smaller than ballistic missile subs, although they can usually operate at lower depths. These subs are used to hunt ballistic missile submarines as well as enemy ships. In some cases, the subs can be armed with vertical-launch tubes to target land-based targets. </p>
<p>Russia <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-are-russias-grandiose-plans-for-upgrading-their-navy-2015-1">plans</a> to replace its Delta III and Delta IV-class subs with Borei II submarines in the coming years. The Oscar II-class sub will be replaced with the entirely new Yasen submarine class after 2020. </p>
