<keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> has handed out more than Rs 14 crore in compensation to its four senior executives, thanks to stock-based incentives. The stock incentives shot up the total compensation of presidents Rajesh Murthy, Sandeep Dadlani and Mohit Joshi, and deputy chief operating officer Ravi Kumar S by over 50% in the previous fiscal year. As per the annual report of Infosys, the increase was mainly in the form of performance-based stock incentives that will vest over four years. The news comes after the tussle between Infosys founders and the board members over the pay packages is yet to be resolved. Infosys founder <keyword id="51793" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NR-Narayana-Murthy">NR Narayana Murthy</keyword> had expressed displeasure over the steep hike in compensation to chief operating officer UB Pravin Rao. In fiscal 2017, Rao's total compensation rose to Rs 11.80 crore from Rs 8.14 crore, including incentives. Also, last year, Infosys shareholders had questioned the pay hike given to CEO Vishal Sikka. Infosys has been battling a slew of issues - including questions on governance standards and slowing industry growth. Meanwhile, Infosys has also formed a 'committee of directors', which includes co-chairmen R Seshasayee and Ravi Venkatesan as well as board member DN Prahlad, that will support and advise the management in executing the company's strategy.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vishal+Sikka&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> Vishal Sikka, </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Infosys+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Infosys </a>CEO, while stating that any "discernible pattern" of clients worrying about is yet to be seen, said that he hope the policies of the new <keyword id="6354862" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trump">Trump</keyword> administration would be friendly towards business, innovation and entrepreneurship. 
 
"In terms of the new administration, the new President is going to take office next week. President-elect <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Trump+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Trump </a>himself is an entrepreneur and has a very business-friendly, innovation-oriented background. So, I expect that the policies of the administration are going to be friendly towards business, innovation and entrepreneurship," he told ET. 
 
He also said that if the companies continue to target on delivering value and innovation, "things will be okay". 
 
There are concerns that the new government in the US, under to curb "abuse" of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=H1-B&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">H1-B</a> and L1 visas used by foreign workers which will get about 60% of their revenues from the US. 
 
"Of course, visa policies and immigration related policies may change and we have to watch and see what happens there," he told ET. 
 <keyword id="281963" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sikka">Sikka</keyword> said there would be some impact of the H1-B depending on the nature of the policy that is enacted but added that "it is not something he is overly concerned about". 
 Noting that some clients did reach out to <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>, Sikka said: "So far, there is no discernible pattern in client behaviour." 
 
"Many clients have reached out, because everybody is trying to figure out what this means but I wouldn't say there is any noticeable discernible pattern. So as we see the policies take effect, we will let you know. We are waiting and watching," Sikka added. 
 
Sikka said the company has been increasing the number of local hires in its international markets, including the US. 
 
"We have quite a bit of H1-Bs and we also have a lot of local hires... we had articulated that we have to become much more local and locally-oriented in our strategy in the market and globally...So ultimately, regardless of the visa policies or so forth, the right thing to do for innovation is to have a lot of rich local talent," he told ET.

If you ever happen to visit Infosys’s Bengaluru office, you would find a computer outside CEO <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword>'s office that is never switched off. The live web link there is on 24x7, so that employees can talk to their counterparts in Palo Alto whenever they want to. 
 
"The whole idea is to get Infosys employees to chat with each other whenever they want. No need to block calendars, no need to send emails. Cuts out the bureaucracy," an employee told ET. 
 
Cutting down the layers has been a major push with Infosys ever since Sikka has come in. To ease this further, India's second-largest software exporter is also working on a pilot project with 10,000 people, in which the traditional, five-layer organisational structure has been broken down into a two-tiered one, a welcome step from the Indian IT industry's conventional pyramid model. 
 
"Traditionally, we've had several layers within the organisation. We've had project managers and then there is a senior project manager, a group project manager, etc., and so on. So we want to flatten the five layers down to two," Sikka told ET. 
 
The new structure would have a project manager at the centre, who along with his own team would get support from functional teams like human esources, legal, finance and purchasing. 
 
"Basically, this acts as a small startup. Instead of a traditional top-down pyramid, we create a more bottom-up thing where you have thousands of small entities like that and the management is enabling these people to go out there and be innovative. This is underneath what Zero Distance is," Sikka further stated. "The reason why it's called Zero Distance is because you have zero distance to the client, zero distance to the value. Otherwise in big organisations, layers form over time, far away from clients," he added. 
 
Sikka is of the belief that this restructuring would make Infosys more entrepreneurial and livelier.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infosys">Infosys</a> exceeded its expectations as it posted 9.8% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,398 crore for Q2 ended September 30, 2015.

Infosys had reported a net profit of Rs 3,030 crore and revenues of Rs 14,354 crore for the April-June quarter of this financial year. 
 
However, the company lowered down its full-year revenue guidance as Infosys’ CFO Rajiv Bansal quit, who will be replaced by strategic operations head Ranganath D Mavinakere. 
 
For the July-September quarter, Infosys posted a net profit of $519 million and revenue jumped 8.7 % to $2.39 billion.

Meanwhile, Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao said the company’s growth was driven by recent initiatives around service differentiation, improvement in client mining and higher focus on winning large deals.

For the first time in 14 years, US-based <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cognizant&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Cognizant Technology Solutions</a> could not beat <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infosys&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Infosys</a> and posted its slowest quarterly revenue growth. 
 <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword> also cut the upper end of their full-year revenue guidance and forecasted revenues in the range of $13.65 billion to $14 billion. 
 
For the March quarter, Cognizant registered a net profit of $441.2 million, compared to $382.9 million in the year-ago period. 
 
For the June quarter, the company forecast revenues in the range of $3.34 billion to $3.40 billion. 
 
New Jersey-based Cognizant Teaneck said that it was hurt by slow spending from top healthcare customers. 
 
"As anticipated, during the first quarter we saw softness in our healthcare segment due to M&amp;A activity, as well as softness in our banking segment due to financial market volatility," said Gordon Coburn, president at Cognizant, adding, “As we move into the second quarter, we are quite pleased with our momentum with new and existing clients, which we expect to drive sequential revenue growth in the second quarter of $140 to $200 million.” 
 Meanwhile, Cognizant also failed to trump <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> in growth rates for the first time since 2002-03, indicating that under <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=vishal+sikka&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Vishal Sikka</a>, Infosys is on track.

IT giants like <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> and <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> are using <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> to impress and win clients. In a bid to give new solutions to their clients, these companies have added startups they have partnered with in their portfolio. 
 
"Working with startups is a very important part of our strategy. Wherever necessary we will bring in startups into our solutions for clients and that helps to keep things, swings it in our favour," said Infosys’ Vishal Sikka. 
 
Infosys and Wipro have invested in multiple startups to make up for talent and technologies that are not present with them. 
 
"What we do when we make those strategic investments is we give them an opportunity to talk to our sales teams, business unit heads, how it can be incorporated into our business plans so that we can take it to the customer,” said Wipro’s Abidali Neemuchwala. 
 
When a client partners with a startup, it is an independent pact, which also favours IT firms as it builds its reputation. 
 
Executives told ET that Infosys had recently helped US financial services giant Visa set up a new technology centre and held talks with Daimler AG on building a technology facility for the German automotive giant. In both the instances, Infosys used some of their own portfolio companies like ANSR Consulting to help these customers. 
 
“It's very interesting to see how they (Indian IT cos) are all looking to startup tech firms to maybe pivot their own business models can actually do nothing but help us," Karenann Terrell, chief information officer at Wal-Mart Stores, told ET.
