Styrene gas leak from the plan had claimed the lives of 15 people and affected around 500 in the surrounding villages. However, independent studies estimate that at least 8,000 died within the span of two weeks and eventually 8,000 more were reported dead due to the gas-related diseases. The government and private hospitals in Visakhapatnam are admitting hundreds of patients who were exposed to the gas. They have symptoms like breathlessness, headaches and frequent vomiting. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that a probe be conducted to determine who is accountable. An FIR has been filed against LG Chemicals, the parent company of LG Polymers, to investigate the issue. "The plant was strictly following all protocols. Investigation underway. Forensic teams are also being sent to the spot," Andhra Pradesh DGP Damodar Goutam told ANI. As per information received by the Director of <keyword id="23032347" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Visakhapatnam-Airport" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Visakhapatnam Airport" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Visakhapatnam Airport">Visakhapatnam Airport</keyword>, Raja Reddy, a suspected bomb threat was received by Air India station security in-charge for flight AI-471 from Delhi to Vishakapatnam. As per Reddy, the threat call was initially received from a passenger in Delhi by the Delhi Police, which in turn alerted the Air India security officials, who in turn alerted the Air India officials in <keyword id="19999262" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vizag" source="keywords">Vizag</keyword>. Following the landing of the aircraft at Visakhapatnam Airport, the aircraft was thoroughly checked by Air India security and subsequently by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team, where the authorities found no issues with the plane. After carrying out all the security protocols under the circumstances, the aircraft was cleared for boarding departing passengers to Delhi. Currently, Delhi police are trying to apprehend the passenger who gave the false information.

Smart Store will enable a local shop to launch a digital storefront, thereby enabling customers to discover products, read reviews, evaluate offers while in the store or from anywhere using the Amazon app. I will also enable local shops to offer Amazon Pay reward coupons to attract new customers. Amazon Pay launches 'smart stores' to empower local merchants in India

New Delhi, Jul 15 () The exports of coir and its products stood at Rs 2,757.9 crore in 2019-20, registering an all-time high record, the government said on Wednesday. The outward shipments of coir and coir products in 2018-19 were Rs 2,728.04 crore. "9,88,996 MT of coir and coir products were exported during the year 2019-20 from the country as against 9,64,046 MT exported during the preceding year," the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said. While the exports of coir pith, tufted mats, coir Geo-textiles, coir rugs and carpets, coir other sorts, coir rope and power-loom mats registered growth both in terms of quantity and value, products like hand-loom mats, coir yarn, rubberized coir and power-loom matting showed decline in terms of quantity and increase in terms of value. Coir pith with export earnings of Rs 1,349.63 crore constituted 49 per cent of the total export of coir products from the country. Coir fibre with an export of Rs 498.43 crore constituted to 18 per cent of the total exports. The value added items put together constituted 33 per cent of the total exports. Tufted Mats topped among the value added products (20 per cent in value). The export of coir and coir products never showed decrease during the period, which shows there is no chance for the coir entrepreneur to worry about the business. The domestic market for coir and coir products also shows an increasing trend. Exports are made through several ports of India out of which around 99 per cent of the exports of coir and coir products are made through Tuticorin, Cochin and Chennai Ports. Rain clouds threaten to ruin India's Diwali festivities with rains and thundershowers, according to the latest forecast from India's Meteorological Department. A well-marked Low pressure area has intensified into a Depression and it is located over east central Arabian Sea. A Cyclonic Circulation and a trough extended from this system is located over Odisha and adjoining area. These systems produce moderate to heavy and thunderstorms over Southern and Eastern India with torrential rain over localized places. The Cyclonic Circulation will gradually move northeastward and rainfall area spread over North Eastern India until Saturday, a Weather Channel report said.

 Rain totals of over 150 mm in 48 hour are likely with localized spots receiving up to 200 mm over Odisha, Meghalaya, West Bengal and part of Jharkhand until Saturday morning. Total rainfall of over 100-120 mm in 48 hours is likely over Goa and adjoining area until Saturday. The threat of the rains particularly high along the country's peninsular coast as seen in the image above. "It is very likely to concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours and into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 48 hours," a Met Department official said. There is also a 'yellow alert' forecasting heavy rains in and around Mumbai and Thane. Indians have a clutch of festivities starting from Dhanteras on Friday to Bhaubeej on Tuesday (October 29), with Diwali and Lakshmi Puja in between. The Met Dept has also warned the coutnry's fishermen to not venture out into the sea on Saturday and Sunday.
