The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pointed out that many renowned <keyword id="143" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> actors haven’t complied with service tax norms when receiving payments from producers. The list of actors include <keyword id="6354583" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>, <keyword id="6357861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ranbir-Kapoor">Ranbir Kapoor</keyword>, Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh and <keyword id="2180" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword> and the revenue skipped is more than Rs 50 crore. "During the examination of records of Salman Khan, Arjun <keyword id="2182" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="rampal">Rampal</keyword>, Ritesh <keyword id="6359159" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vilasrao-Deshmukh">Vilasrao Deshmukh</keyword> and Vishal (Ajay) <keyword id="32994" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="devgan">Devgan</keyword> in in the Mumbai service tax commissionerates, we observed from the agreements between producer and actors that the producers, being service recipients, agreed to provide for and bear expenses relating to arrangement of the services for travel, lodging and boarding of the make-up artist, hair stylist and spot boy ," the ET learnt from reports. The auditor duly noted that these services fall in the ambit of additional consideration directly and inextricably linked to the services provided by assesses. Non-inclusion of the additional consideration during 2013-14 to 2015-16 resulted in non-payment of service tax by the actors. "Ranbir Kapoor acted in the movie ' Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' produced by <keyword id="4854211" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="dharma-productions-pvt-ltd">Dharma Productions Pvt Ltd</keyword>, shot both in India and New York. He received a consideration of Rs 6.75 crore from a foreign company , ADHM Films Ltd., (UK) based in London for film shot in UK and did not pay service tax of Rs 83.43 lakh treating the same as export of services," the auditor pointed out.

Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh and Dhiraj Vilasrao Deshmukh are the INC candidates for the Latur City and Latur Rural seats. From the Nilanga seat, Ashok Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar of INC will take on the BJP candidate Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar. The election commission has declared that the Maharashtra constituencies for the assembly will face the polling on a single day on October 21, 2019. The votes will be counted on October 24, 2019 and the results will be known by evening on the same day. During 2014 assembly elections, Chikhalikar Prataprao Govindrao of SHS won from the Loha constituency securing 45486 votes more than the runner up candidate of BJP Dhondge Mukteshwar Keshavrao. From the Latur Rural seat, INC’s Bhise Trimbakrao Shrirangrao secured 10510 votes more than the next candidate Karad Ramesh Kashiram of BJP and became the MLA. The Latur City voters elected Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh of INC who secured 49465 votes more than the BJP candidate Lahoti Shailesh Govindkumar. From the Ahmadpur constituency, IND candidate Jadhav Patil Vinayakrao Kishanrao won with a margin of 4006 against the NCP candidate Babasaheb Mohanrao Patil. The winner fromt eh Udgir (SC) seat was Sudhakar Sangram Bhalerao of BJP who defeated Sanjay Baburao Bansode of NCP by securing 24894 more votes. The Nilanga seat winner was BJP’s Nilangekar Sambhaji Deeliprao Patil who secured 27511 votes more than the runner up of INC Ashok Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar.

Latur is a Deshmukh stronghold.</li></ul>Dhiraj Deshmukh — youngest son of the former chief minister, the late Vilasrao Deshmukh— is contesting in the Maharashtra Assembly election for the very first time from the rural seat in Latur. Dhiraj has over 1 lakh votes to his name accounting for 67.57% of the vote share. He's currently poised to win by a margin of 1,21,482 votes. His elder brother, Amit Deshmukh, has won that seat for the Indian National Congress (INC) in 2009 and 2014. But, this time around, Amit will be contesting for the Latur’s urban seat — where the INC has also won the past two Assembly elections. Amit has 1,10,443 votes, which makes up for 52.48% vote share.  Money that would put a smile on any face The mega city’s generous 24 million population has accepted the civic body’s indifference as its fate. This, even after contributing ₹30,000 crore ($4.2 billion) this year to the municipal budget. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s budget has swelled nearly five times in the last 12 years but the plight of its people has only gotten worse. Even by the standards of commercial capitals in developing countries, Mumbai is a mess. Behind the veneer of its entrepreneurial spirit and a professional workforce, lies a city that has been plundered by the ruling elite at an unprecedented scale. Mumbai’s civic body is flushing billions down the drain Meanwhile, the cats at the BMC (which has 1.2 lakh personnel) are getting fatter every year. For instance, documents show that its Chief Engineer AS Yamgar of the Sewerage Operation Department made a monthly salary of ₹1,24,725 as of June 2018. This is nearly as much as <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/business/budget-2018-increases-salary-of-president-by-200-to-rs-5-lakh-per-month-1647855.html">the salary of the President of India before the hike last year</a>, or that of a mid-level corporate employee. However, for the BMC leadership and staff, the money seems to come without accountability.

 And the rot runs deep. <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/mumbai-bmc-driver-makes-more-money-than-commissioner-216408-2013-11-04">An India Today story in 2013</a> exposed how a driver earns more than the municipal Commissioner he serves. He simply slept in the vehicle after being relieved of his duties and got paid for working overtime. Shiv Sena, the party ruled by the Thackeray family, controlled the corporation for most part of the last three decades. Therefore, the blame for the shortcomings of the civic body squarely falls on them. The poor quality of the pothole-ridden roads of Mumbai reveal the enormity of misused funds. People tend to believe without question when it is informally said that less than 20% of the money is actually used in the infrastructure projects, and the rest is siphoned off. The passivity of the voters can be disheartening. Almost 81% of the total of 1,491 kilometres of roads in the city are managed by the BMC. But, the four best-managed roads in the city – Bandra Worli SeaLink, New Airport Road, Eastern Freeway and Bandra Kurla Complex-- are under the supervision of Mumbai Metropolitan Road Development Authority (MMRDA), which is also in charge of the metro rail construction that is currently underway. The MMRDA is not without flaws as exposed by <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/mumbai/mumbai-monorail-a-trip-to-nowhere/article29273282.ece">the colossal failure of the recent monorail project</a>. Yet, it has been slightly more efficient than the BMC in some cases. The devastating floods of 2005 that killed over a 1,000 people should have been a wake up call. At that stage, an honest leadership would have been embarrassed enough to pull themselves into action and resurrect the city to avoid a similar carnage in the future. Since then, there have been five Chief Ministers -- Vilasrao Deshmukh, Ashok Chavan, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Prithviraj Chavan, and now, Devendra Fadnavis-- but the people’s plight has got worse with every passing monsoon. One may expect the authorities to prepare and respond better given that an election is scheduled this year. However, the choice for the voters is between the devil and the deep sea as both Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) outfits have failed the people of the city over the years. In Mumbai, “<a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/393220611192996582/?nic=1">there are no heroes here, only survivors.</a>”
