Budget 2017 by the <keyword id="6355261" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Finance-minister">Finance Minister</keyword> <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> wasn’t much of an excitement for the tourism industry except for announcing establishing of five special tourism zones in the next financial year.

Prior to the budget, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">Business Insider had discussed</a> what the hurdles in this industry are. What needed to be done like tax-free bonds and income tax exceptions on profits used in re-investment in the tourism sector, development of tourism infrastructure at heritage site, setting up centres for adventure activities and experiential zones weren’t addressed. More support to drive job creation in this industry will help improve the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">poverty alleviation</a> in the country. 
 
Travel industry without sunshine 
"The Budget 2017 has once again disappointed the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">travel industry</a>. Despite being a key sector of the economy that brings multiplier benefits, the travel and tourism sector stands largely ignored. Our concerns about high tax rates are valid concerns and we are dejected that the government paid no heed to them. Across the world, governments provide huge incentives and tax breaks to the travel industry to encourage <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">inflow of tourists</a>. However, in India we continue to be a highly taxed sector which makes us less competitive as compared to other destinations,” said <keyword id="4127681" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kapil-goswamy">Kapil Goswamy</keyword>, CEO and Managing Director, <keyword id="4127680" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bigbreaks">BigBreaks</keyword>.com 
 
Silver lining 
However he added that the announcement to improve road infrastructure also has latent benefits for the tourism sector as it encourages travelling. 
 
Apart from that, there are some silver linings in the industry, though. 
 
“The 5% tax cuts proposed for MSMEs is one welcome step in this direction. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">Speeding up of infrastructure development </a>for airlines, rail &amp; highways will also help to boost more inter-state business activity,”said Adarsh Manpuria, Co-Founder , FabHotels. 
 
Cash less travel <keyword id="265813" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vikram-Ahuja">Vikram Ahuja</keyword> of Byond Travel, a boutique travel start up feels, “Focus on digital payments and encouraging online payments (Via BHIM and other initiatives) is a huge plus for a tech-first company like ours. Also the cap on cash deposits hopefully creates more transparency in the way travel services and packages are offered since the scope for inbuilt “cash-led” services will hopefully reduce.” 
 
 Better railways and broadband 
“The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/budget/common-man-budget">announcement for increase in railway connectivity </a>to the remote areas and upgradation of airports in Tier 2 cities, a huge number of people will be able to travel smoothly from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The high speed internet connectivity in rural areas will be the biggest advantage to them. This will help them to do more purchasing and online bookings. We are expecting more travel coming ahead. Along with this, reducing the income tax to 5% for the people having an earning bracket of 2.5 lac -5 lacs, it will be a crucial factor in their saving. of tourism in India. Here’s why

New Delhi, Jul 6 () A significant number of Indian professionals are focusing on sharpening their soft skills like communication and virtual presentation to adapt themselves to the changing talent landscape in a post-COVID-19 world, says a survey. According to the survey by Talent500 by ANSR that covered 20,000 tech professionals to get insights into the current recruitment scenario in India, a significant number of job seekers said the current process of hiring is complex and lacks clarity. Over 54 per cent respondents reported lack of transparency and delays in communication as the main reasons for keeping them away from pursuing open opportunities in a company, the survey noted. Talent500 by ANSR is a career accelerator for the top 10 per cent of tech professionals and the exclusive talent acquisition partner for Fortune 500 companies and global capability centers (GCCs) in India. As per the survey, 98 per cent of the respondents are actively upskilling to stay ahead of the curve in a post-COVID-19 world. Around 56 per cent of professionals leverage free as well as paid upskilling platforms in order to carve themselves into a suitable candidate for large enterprises. Further, 70 per cent respondents feel that changing times call for a newer approach in order to market themselves better. The biggest takeaway of the survey is the emergence of the 'gig economy' in talent as 56 per cent respondents expressed interest in pursuing gig-based or remote work. There is a growing demand amongst top professionals to have more control over their lifestyle. Working with flexible schedules, ability to work with multiple clients, and different learning opportunities are the key reasons for this emerging trend, the survey noted. "India's top professionals are aware of the complex and uncertain environment and are already thinking of ways to prepare themselves in a post-COVID world," Vikram Ahuja, Co-Founder of Talent500, said. Ahuja further said "a renewed focus on upskilling and an increasing demand for gig-based roles shows that the mindset of talent is changing. This will require enterprises to rethink their traditional recruiting models and employ simpler and more flexible approaches to engage with the top talent today." There was a time when start-ups were considered to be the next big thing, but seems like slowly and steadily, they are <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/The-Startup-Bubble-Burst-in-IndiaCorporateGossip/articleshow/50591251.cms">losing their thunder</a>. Senior-level executives who had joined start-ups in that wave have now come back to their traditional, established companies and conglomerates, and several others are thinking of doing the same. 
 
The reasons, one may ask, would be the lack of innovation opportunities, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/The-fixed-pay-culture-at-top-management-is-fading-away-making-way-for-stock-based-plans/articleshow/52108013.cms">culture misfit</a>, and redundant roles, and they have forced senior leaders from Flipkart, Jabong, Housing.com, Ola and others to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/These-top-executives-quit-Flipkart-Snapdeal-Ola-with-only-one-aim-in-mind/articleshow/51907027.cms">leave these start-ups </a>and move back to old and established companies. 
 
For example, Peshwa Acharya, Housing.com's chief of strategy, marketing and franchising, left the real estate start-up and joined a large travel, holiday and hospitality conglomerate as its chief marketing officer in November last year. Similarly, Suvomoy Sarkar from Ola left the transport aggregator start-up to join Sears Holdings Corporation as head of the India analytics centre in April this year. 
 
Manish Maheshwari, who was associated with e-commerce start-up Flipkart, has now joined Network 18 digital as its CEO, and Vikas Ahuja left his post as Myntra’s Chief Marketing Officer to join The Oberoi Group. 
 
Some other names are Aparna Ballakur, who joined PayU as VP-HR after her stint with Flipkart as Chief People Officer; Deepak Menon, who joined Microsoft after leaving Jabong; and Vikram Dasu, the now CEO of Avenue Ecommerce Ltd - Dmart, who left HomeShop18.
