"I reached Baku and I got to know our Hon'ble PM wants to felicitate the Indian team. I was overjoyed when I heard this and I wanted to be a part of it. It's amazing at how such short notice he is taking out time for us," Gujrathi wrote on 'X'. Gujrathi, 29, has been replaced by Aravindh Chithambaram for the event to be held from September 25-30. This led to the birth of their entrepreneurial venture – Kyt. Launched on September 30, 2020, Kyt is an online academy that leverages technology to open a whole world of extra-curricular courses to kids. In just two months, the startup has raised $2.5 million and is a part of Sequoia’s accelerator program – Surge. The funding round also saw participation from Titan Capital, and other angel investors, including Kunal Shah, Amrish Rau, Jitender Gupta, Allen Penn and Martin Li. Over the last two months, they have over 1000 students enrolled in different courses. “The platform has more than 20 teachers onboard, and we plan to increase this to 500 over the next 12 months,” Rathod told Business Insider. Before launching Kyt, Rathod worked with Uber and was, in fact, one of the first founding members of the India business and went on to lead the UberEats business. While building Kyt, Rathod and Ahuja spoke to over 350 parents and understood that the need for such a platform was paramount. And Rathod is quite confident that amidst the roaring edtech growth in the country and the obvious growing competition, there is a huge space for extra-curricular activities that is currently not being tapped. “When you look at extra-curricular activities, there aren’t many players offering curriculum-driven courses, with teachers who have years of experience and are experts in their field,” he said. Kyt has celebrated teachers like Indian Chess Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi, Philippines’ hip-hop legend Ruel Varindani, and celebrity yoga instructor Sabrina Merchant among others. The platform offers courses like yoga, language, reading, and dance, and will soon be launching chess as well. Edtech has seen an enormous boom during the coronavirus pandemic and Rathod believes that the need for such a platform goes beyond it. "We intend to keep it online only as we believe the need is beyond the pandemic. There will be rapid adoption of online learning even beyond Covid-19, as these well-structured curriculums will build strong global communities, encouraging children to remain engaged over time,” he said. The India-Russia chess duel for the Online Olympiad gold came to a dramatic finish on Sunday with the global chess body announcing them as joint winners. The decision to declare India and Russia as joint winners was taken by <keyword id="9600548" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIDE-President-Arkady-Dvorkovich">FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich</keyword> after an appeal made by India saying three of its players were disconnected from the server. "We just told <keyword id="93857" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIDE">FIDE</keyword> that three of our players - K. Humpy, Nihal Sarin and Divya Deshmukh were logged out due to server crash during the second match of the final," non-playing Captain <keyword id="4353983" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="srinath-narayanan">Srinath Narayanan</keyword> told IANS. "We had asked for a fair solution - a replay of three games," he added. Announcing his decision Dvorkovich in a statement said: "The Online <keyword id="421028" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="chess-Olympiad">Chess Olympiad</keyword> has been impacted by a global internet outage, that severely affected several countries, including India. "Two of the Indian players have been affected and lost connection, when the outcome of the match was still unclear. "The Appeals Committee has examined all the evidence provided by Chess.com, as well as information gathered from other sources about this internet outage. After being informed of their considerations and in absence of an unanimous decision, and taken into account these unprecedented circumstances, as FIDE President I made the decision to award Gold Medals to both teams," he said. Srinath said the appeal was made stating it was due to a server crash of Cloudflare used by www.chess.com. The FIDE President's decision was welcomed by the Indian chess fraternity. Meanwhile, the finals between India and Russia began in the evening. The first match ended with a score of 3-3 with all the six games ending in a draw. The battle of two world champions in the fast chess format - women's world rapid champion from India K. Humpy and women's world blitz champion Kateryna Lagno was an absorbing game. Humpy, after securing an exchange advantage, sacrificed her queen for two bishops to have rooks against the Russian's queen. However, the clock was ticking against Humpy and on the 41st move, she missed out a winning line. Soon the game ended in a draw with perpetual checks by the Russian. All other games - Vidit Santosh Gujrathi vs Ian Nepomniachtchi, P. Harikrishna vs Vladislav Artemiev, D. Harika vs Alexandra Kosteniuk, R. Praggnannandha vs Alexey Sarana and Divya Deshmukh vs Polina Shuvalova - ended in a draw. In the second match, India brought in V. Anand and Sarin in the place of Harikrishna and Praggnanandha. The Russian team made three changes, bringing in <keyword id="4977457" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="daniil-dubov">Daniil Dubov</keyword>, Andrey Esipenko and Aleksandra Goryachkina and rested Sarana, Artemiev and Lagno.
