Consulting and outsourcing firm <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Accenture+">Accenture</a> has announced Rekha Menon as its new India chairman. 
 The company has also appointed <keyword id="2989507" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Anindya-Basu">Anindya Basu</keyword> as its new country <keyword id="24973" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="managing-director">managing director</keyword>. Both the appointments will be effective from August 21, reported the Economic Times. 
 
Menon, who currently heads <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=human+resources+">human resources</a> for growth markets at <keyword id="6370971" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Accenture">Accenture</keyword>, will succeed <keyword id="304288" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Avinash-Vashistha">Avinash Vashistha</keyword> who resigned in July. 
 
"Rekha has made impressive contributions to our people and our communities," said Gianfranco Casati, Accenture's group chief executive, growth markets. 
 
According to the company statement, Basu will be responsible for driving Accenture's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=domestic+business+">domestic business</a> in India and building relationships with key clients. 
 
Casati said: "Her (Rekha) experience will be extremely valuable as we continue to build our brand and enhance our reputation as a leader in India." 
 
Menon will be the Accenture's first woman head in India, continuing a recent trend of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=multinational+">multinational</a> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=technology+">technology</a> firms in India appointing women leaders.

Meet Rekha Menon, Accenture new India chairman

<keyword id="10875" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IBM">IBM</keyword>’s ‘<keyword id="6411673" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Watson">Watson</keyword>’ enters India with one of the noblest solutions it could provide to the citizens of India. Manipal Hospitals would adopt 'Watson for Oncology' to help physicians provide individualised <keyword id="6355291" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cancer">cancer</keyword> care across the country. 

	'Watson for Oncology' was developed by IBM in association with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), one of the world's leading cancer hospitals. 
 

	This will help oncologists provide individualised healthcare, company officials said, adding this would be the first deployment of 'Watson' in India. 
 "This engagement represents a major step in the transformation of healthcare in India. With IBM Watson, we are bringing <keyword id="1968917" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="cognitive-computing">cognitive computing</keyword> to the healthcare ecosystem to help deliver greater value to patients in India," IBM India Managing Director Vanitha Narayanan told PTI. 

	Highlighting shortage of oncologists in India, she said there are over a million cases of cancer diagnosed every year. There are 1,600 patients to one oncologist in the country, compared to 1:100 ratio in the US, she said. 
 

	IBM said to date, 'Watson for Oncology' has ingested nearly 15 million pages of medical content, including more than 200 medical textbooks and 300 medical journals. 
 

	Using natural language, clinicians using 'Watson for Oncology' will be able to explore treatment options, analyse information provided, and gather evidence specific to a patients' individual health needs, it said. 
 

	'Watson' will benefit both oncologists and patients, Manipal Hospital Chairman Dr H Sudarshan Ballal said, adding that it be available for both rich and poor patients. 
 

	Manipal said it would implement 'Watson' at its hospitals across the country where it has facilities for oncology and also affiliate with community oncologists. 
 

	Manipal has 16 hospitals and 50 oncologists across the country and more than 2,00,000 people receive care for cancer at their facilities each year. 
 

	Stating that affordability is very important, Manipal Hospitals CEO and Managing Director Dr Ajay Bakshi said, "We have worked very closely with IBM to structure an economic model which works for Indian patients. That was our first starting point." 
 

	Without going into financial specifics, he said, "It will be incredibly affordable." 
 

	To a question, Bakshi said "It will take six months to implement 'Watson'. We are projecting that it will be done by May or June next year. For six months, we will be working with IBM to indigenise it and train it on Indian patients' database."

'Watson' enters India to provide individualised cancer care across the country

The self-sustaining estate that is spread across 330 acres of land and is home to over 5000 residents is adopting <keyword id="10875" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IBM">IBM</keyword>’s technology to become future ready. 
 
IBM‘s Intelligent Operations Centre helps collect and make sense of the rich data streaming in from several sources within the Estate to provide actionable insights. It offers integrated data visualization, near real-time collaboration and deep analytics to help enhance the ongoing efficiency that will improve the efficiency of services for its residents. 
 A Citizens Mobile App, created by IBM <keyword id="6354733" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IOC">IOC</keyword>, was also launched, which allows residents to report issues using the web and mobile. The data from reported observation will be supplied to city offices, where they can use the insights to make informed decisions.

Smart Energy Management: With over 1500 residential apartment and well-lit open spaces the Presidential Estate consumes over one-lakh units of electricity per day. IBM integrated its IOC system with electrical billing system. Data on consumption patterns of consumers, public and common areas, within the estate, is being collected to optimize energy management. Additionally, newer, eco-friendly technology such as solar power, LED lamps for street lighting and other applications to reduce energy consumptions are deployed. 
 
Smart Water Management: The water management at the Estate relied heavily on manual intelligence. IBM mapped all water domain assets such as underground water reservoirs, pump locations and tube well assets. The entire water distribution pipeline was mapped on a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) layer. Through IBM IOC system accurate information about the distribution network will enable faster diagnostic and resolution of water incidents. Moreover, residents will be able to track complains in real-time. 
 
Smart Waste and Horticulture Management: IBM mapped waste management end to end from waste bin collections, rickshaw routes, disposals, landfill, and processing, on to its IOC system. An interface was created for people to generate statistics on different kinds of waste. Digitized waste lifecycle statistics and trends helped relevant departments analyze insights and improve processes to enable timely actions. A Mobile App platform assists teams in maintaining a cleaner Estate. 
 
Smart Security Systems: IBM integrated its IOC system with e-visitor to facilitate analyses of all visitors’ statistics. IBM IOC is also leveraged for auto alerts and to generate notifications for upcoming events enabling teams to collaborate across departments and plan collectively for an upcoming event.
