The rumors of this pairing started doing rounds once again when Aditya announced Befikre on Facebook and everyone felt that these two actors make a perfect fit for this upcoming movie.

 However, the casting department of <keyword id="36603" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yash-Raj-Films">Yash Raj films</keyword> didn’t feel the same, which is why they chose <keyword id="1710502" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shuddh-Desi-Romance">Shuddh Desi Romance</keyword> fame <keyword id="182497" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vaani-Kapoor">Vaani Kapoor</keyword> as the leading lady opposite Singh. 
 
Kapoor, who did a Tamil film after SDR, which was a remake of Band Baaja Baraat, announced her selection in the same way as Ranveer. In a video shared by Yash Raj Films on YouTube, she can be seen talking about life after SDR and how Aditya Chopra believed enough in her to cast her in his next directorial venture.

The film's release was pushed from April 2021 to July 27 due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Increasing roles but not being cast While Bollywood might seem to be taking one step forward, it has brought out many issues – be it roles for the community and of course, casting transgenders for the roles. The apathy towards LGBTQ+ community is also affecting artists who intend to find their place in the showbiz which has been expanding thanks to the number of web series and more under production. Yet, it’s falling short of people to accommodate them. Transgender actor Sushant Divgikar criticises the casting of cisgender actors as transgender characters in Bollywood. This comes as Bollywood is making several movies on gender diversity but tends to cast popular actors instead of the ‘right’ fit. “If a transgender person is not allowed to play a transgender character on screen in a film, they are not allowed to play a man in a film and transgender people are not allowed to play women in a film so what do transgender artists play? transgender trees in the back?” asks Divgikar on his Instagram. Divgikar is quite vocal about challenges faced by <keyword id="1218847" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lgbtq-community" source="Orion">LGBTQ community</keyword> in society and Bollywood. Sharing another such experience on gender disparity on Youtube, Divgikar revealed that they were auditioning for a toothpaste ad when the casting director told them even before they entered the room, “You are too gay for this advertisement.” Yet, not all is lost. A few actors from the community have found their standing. Jim Sarbh, a popular actor who played a key role in the superhit movie Padmavaat, also plays a role in Made in India. He is on medication and living in quarantine at home. Ranbir's mother <keyword id="3608" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Neetu-Kapoor">Neetu Kapoor</keyword> took to Instagram on Tuesday to share her son's health update. Sharing a photo of Ranbir, Neetu wrote: "Thank you for your concern and your good wishes. Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well. He is in self quarantine at home and following all precautions." Commenting on Neetu's post, fans and followers shared their wishes for Ranbir's speedy recovery. Ranbir's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also took to her Instagram story to share a selfie with her ailing brother. Neetu Kapoor had contracted the coronavirus in December last year while shooting for the upcoming film "Jug Jugg Jeeyo" in Chandigarh. On the work front, Ranbir has lately been busy shooting for Ayan Mukerji's action fantasy film "Brahmastra" alongside rumoured girlfriend Alia Bhatt. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy. However, it is being speculated that shoot will be temporarily stalled with the lead actor contracting Covid-19.
