This would be Asian Development Bank's first investment in a water sector company in the country. The capital raised would be used for working capital requirements of the company and would be within the current borrowing limits thereby not increasing the debt-level of the company, it said. "This is an important milestone for WABAG, as we add another feather to our cap with this strategic funding tie-up with ADB. ADB's decision to collaborate with WABAG, in their first private sector water investment in India, is a key validation of its leadership," said chief financial officer of the company <keyword id="15622768" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="skandaprasad-seetharaman" source="Orion">Skandaprasad Seetharaman</keyword>. In terms of sectors, the highest allocation is to companies focussed on infrastructure construction. This may be a bet on government's willingness to spend more of taxpayers' money to boost economic growth. The zero weightage given to telecom may reflect the battered prospects of the sector amidst intense competition, piled up debt, and the imminent pressure of having to bid for 5G spectrum when the auction opens up in the coming weeks. Some stocks like ICICI Bank and Axis Bank are expected to more than double their profits in the next couple but that is largely due to the low-base effect in the last financial, which was marred by rising bad loans and provisions. The return to normalcy may look better when compared to the performance last year. The three IT stocks -- HCL Tech, Mphasis, and Tech Mahindra-- are expected to give the highest return on equity, above 20% each, according to the estimates in the model portfolio of stocks. This model portfolio may give one a perspective on how to invest their surplus profitably. The BSE index was trading 0.52% higher at 38,636.36; while the Nifty was up 0.57% at 11,436.65. Kotak Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising around 4%, followed by Asian Paints, HDFC duo, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI. On the other hand, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, PowerGrid, Titan, Infosys and TCS were among the laggards. Eicher Motors gains 8% on the stock split date Eicher Motors gained over 8% as its stock split comes into effect from today. The board earlier approved a stock split of existing one equity share of the face value of ₹10 per share into ten equity shares of the face value of ₹1 each. ICICI Lombard up over 1% ICICI Lombard General Insurance gained nearly a percent during early trade hours on Monday after the company said it would acquire Bharti AXA General Insurance operations in a share swap deal. The shareholders of Bharti AXA will receive two shares of ICICI Lombard for every 115 shares of Bharti AXA, as per the share exchange ratio recommended by independent valuers. Minda Industries down nearly 3% Minda Industries shares slid nearly 3% after the company said it incurred a loss of ₹118.3 crore in the first quarter ended June 3. The revenue was down sharply from ₹1,439.7 crore to ₹417.1 crore in Q1. Balaji Telefilms opens 4% higher Balaji Telefilms shares gained nearly 4% after the government announced standard operating procedures (SOPs) for resuming shooting of films and TV programmes. Future Retail down nearly 4% The shares of Kishore Biyani-led Future Retail were down nearly 4% as the company faces a debt repayment deadline after missing an interest payment of $14 million in July. The 30-day grace period also ended on August 22. Reliance Industries up over 1% RIL gained nearly a percent after the company concluded amalgamation and merger amongst its wholly-owned subsidiaries Reliance Holdings USA into Reliance Energy Generation and Distribution. Merger entity Reliance Energy and Distribution has further merged into RIL. Union Bank gains nearly 3% Union Bank shares were up nearly 3% after the bank reported a 48.3% increase in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30. The bank’s total income grew by 101.2% YoY to ₹19,891.26 crore. Union Bank of India up over 3% The shares of the state-owned Union Bank of India gained over 3% after it reported a 55.3% jump in its net profit to ₹517 crore in the second quarter ended September 30. The bank’s gross non-performing assets (NPAs) ratio improved to 14.71% of the gross advances at the end of September this year compared to 15.75% during the same period last year. Ashok Leyland down nearly 2% The shares of auto giant Ashok Leyland were down 2% in an otherwise firm market after the company reported consolidated loss at ₹146.7 crore in the quarter ended September 30, against a profit of ₹38.9 crore during the same period last year. Blue Star gains over 2% The shares of air conditioner manufacturing giant Blue Star gained over 2% after it bagged an order worth ₹128 crore from Wistron Infocomm.
