Companies operating in India will not have to carry with them a number of identifications, because <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/CBDT-advises-I-T-officials-to-be-strict-towards-illegal-charity/articleshow/47601533.cms">Central Board of Direct Taxes </a>(<keyword id="128665" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="CBDT">CBDT</keyword>) will soon bring in one unique identification number using which they would be able to carry out all business transactions. <br />

CBDT and the<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Ministry-of-Corporate-Affairs-accuses-Infosys-of-botching-up-its-website-threatens-to-cut-payment/articleshow/51975790.cms"> ministry of corporate affairs</a> are integrating their back-end operations so that they can provide a simple identity to the companies operating in India; in a way, this will do away with the multiplicity of numbers that they currently use, like corporate, employer and tax payer identification numbers. <br />

"While this will be implemented at Centre's level, states will have a unique number under the Goods and Service Tax," a senior government official told ET.<br />

"Since it is a multi-ministry exercise it could take some more time," another senior government official told ET. When the government will integrate company identification number, tax and labour IDs to form a unique identity, this will cut on a lot of compliance requirements and filings for companies, thus saving them a lot of time and money. <br />

"From regulator's point of view also, a single number will provide them all the information about companies. The platform would be the single largest database of all sectors," Sai Venkateshwaran, a partner at KPMG, told ET. <br />

However, the Indian government has been expecting fewer enrollments as its estimates show over 1.22 billion people in India already have Aadhaar. <br /><br />In September, India’s Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of Aadhaar, but put several restrictions on its use. For example, it said it was no longer necessary for its citizens to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar and asked private companies to refrain from asking for Aadhaar details.<br />

Indian cows to have a unique ID number

<ul><li><strong>Unique ID to help identify passengers and make boarding process for domestic flights simpler.<br /></strong></li><li><strong>The unique ID will be biometric-based. <br /></strong></li><li><strong>Vijayawada and Varanasi among the three airports where <keyword id="6549368" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="paperless-boarding">paperless boarding</keyword> will be tested.</strong> <br /></li></ul>With the Indian Railways increasing the fare for air-conditioned coaches, many people who preferred trains to flights have now started travelling by air. Thanks to the competition between different airlines, flight ticket prices have become affordable and in many cases, even cheaper than what train journeys would cost. Why waste hours on a train when you can pay lesser and get to your destination sooner? <br /><br />The process of boarding and deboarding a plane, however, remains tiresome. With many ditching trains for flights now, airports have become as crowded as railway stations. Naturally, the queues for boarding passes and for security checks have become longer. <br /><br /><strong>But there’s some good news!</strong><br /><br />The government might soon implement a new feature -- a biometric-based unique ID -- that will make the boarding process for domestic flyers smooth. A unique identification number, similar to the Aadhaar, will soon let commuters dodge the boarding processes for domestic flights.<br /><br />A technical team from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) along with four private metro airports where the new scheme is set to be tested, finalized a completely paperless boarding process for domestic flyers. The team has also finalized and proposed the format for biometric-based identification called “Digi-Yatra” (DY).<br /><br />Under the new process, each commuter will be allocated a unique ID from the aviation ministry portal. This unique ID issued will also be linked to the person’s biometrics.<br /><br />Passengers wishing to use the new service will then have to provide the booking site with this ID.<br /><br />Getting the new ID will be optional for passengers. The existing process will continue to remain in place. <br /><br /><strong>How do you register for <keyword id="6549964" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="digi-yatra">digi-yatra</keyword> ID?</strong><br /><br />A Digi-Yatra link will be made available on the Air Sewa-II portal soon. Passengers can register there. The verification of the individuals will be done using government-issued ID proof like Aadhaar, driving licence etc.. <br /><br />After registration, whenever the registered person visits the airport the next time, he/she needs to carry the given ID proof and a photograph with them. Iris scans and the details will be captured at the airport. <br /><br />Once that’s done, you can say bye to the long queues for boarding passes. After biometric authentication of the traveller, the E-gate will open. The passenger will be able to avail all the services like check-in, security check and boarding using QR codes and biometrics.<br /><br />Airport websites will also be updated to accommodate the new feature after the proposal is approved by the ministry. <br /><br />The government has selected three airports to test the new scheme. “We have selected three airports, including Varanasi and Vijayawada, for rolling out DY,” <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/unique-id-to-enable-paperless-boarding-for-domestic-flyers/articleshow/64264988.cms">the AAI chief said.</a><br /><br /><br />

The Indian government is trying to make airline boarding passes obsolete

<p>You then decide which of your social profiles - be that Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Hype Machine - you want to share with your personal and professional connections.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">It seems to solve and simplify the whole, "Find me on LinkedIn, add  me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, and peep my favorites on Hype Machine." That's because it's dead simple to explore someone's social presence even if you're not following them on that particular network.</span></p>
<p>For example, I'm sharing my professional profile with Atmospheir VP Vince Crumine. I'm not able to tell which profile he's sharing with me, but he's allowing me to see his presence on Hype Machine, my favorite service for listening to music. I wasn't following him before on Hype Machine, but now I am, and I've already discovered loads of cool music. </p>
<p>And that's probably my favorite part about Atmospheir - the ability to quickly and easily discover a contact's presence across the Web. Given that it syncs with just about every social network, video service, and pinning service, it can be a great tool for discovery.</p>

Atmospheir Is A Quick-And-Dirty Contacts App That Helps Keep The Creepers Away 

New Delhi, Dec 28 () CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd, a special purpose vehicle under Meity, on Friday restarted Aadhaar registration and other related works which it plans to expand across the country next week.
<p> CSC SPV has signed an agreement with Aadhaar custodian, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), to roll out Aadhaar enrolment, make corrections and changes in the profile of the unique ID holders within its premises.
</p><p> "We have restarted Aadhaar registration work from our headquarters in Okhla, Delhi. Soon, this facility will be started in CSCs in 27 state capitals and gradually this facility will be started in all district headquarters across India.
</p><p> "We have received permission to offer this service within our premises. I thank Telecom, IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for reposing faith in CSCs and ensuring that we get Aadhaar registration work back," CSC SPV CEO Dinesh Tyagi told .
</p><p> Aadhaar enrolment work at CSCs in rural areas was stopped around two years back following complaints of data leakage and non compliance with security standards set by the UIDAI.
</p><p> There are around 3.6 lakh CSCs in the country that provide government services online to people in rural areas and small towns.
</p><p> The restart of unique ID registration work coincides with Aadhaar project crossing the 125-crore mark. This means that over 1.25 billion Indians have the 12-digit unique identity number.
</p><p> Aadhaar is now being used as the primary identity document. According to official data, Aadhaar-based authentication services have been used close to 37,000 crore times since inception and at present UIDAI receives about 3 crore authentication requests every day.

CSC e-Governance India restarts Aadhaar registration work

<ul><li><strong><keyword id="1293839" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="clubhouse">Clubhouse</keyword> was found pinging to servers ‘possibly located’ in China by researchers at the Stanford Internet Observatory.</strong></li><li><strong>The report identified that a Chinese company, <keyword id="263720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agora">Agora</keyword>, provided the backend infrastructure to the app.</strong></li><li><strong>The app was found transmitting unique user IDs and chat room IDs in plaintext, making them susceptible to spying.</strong></li></ul>According to a security research <a href="https://cyber.fsi.stanford.edu/io/news/clubhouse-china#access">report</a> by Stanford Internet Observatory (<keyword id="208026" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="SIO">SIO</keyword>), certain vulnerabilities were discovered in Clubhouse’s infrastructure, making it susceptible to spying by the Chinese government.<br /><br />According to the report, Agora Inc, a Shanghai-based company, provides the backend infrastructure to Clubhouse. Since it is a Chinese company, it is subject to Chinese laws and could be required to turn over data to the Chinese government, if asked.<br /><br />The SIO researchers were told by Agora that it does not store user data or audio, except for the purposes of monitoring network quality and billing Clubhouse for its work.<br /><br />In a statement to <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2021/2/14/22282772/clubhouse-improve-security-stanford-researchers-china-security">The Verge</a>, Agora said it “does not have access to, share, or store personally identifiable end-user data. This would allow spies to monitor internet traffic and figure out who is talking to whom.<br /><br />However, the SIO report adds that as long as the chat audio is stored in servers in the US, the Chinese government “probably” cannot access it.<br /><br />“Over the next 72 hours, we are rolling out changes to add additional encryption and blocks to prevent Clubhouse clients from ever transmitting pings to Chinese servers,” said Clubhouse in a statement to SIO.<br /><br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Should this be of concern to Indian users?" comment="subhead" text="Should this be of concern to Indian users?"><span data-til="noop">Should this be of concern to Indian users?</span></cmsannotation><br /><br />Users outside of China might not have to worry, especially if their audio chats are stored outside of China. <p>For those people, <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">John Gruber at Daring Fireball has</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> <a href="http://daringfireball.net/2013/09/the_iphone_5s_and_5c">a through, clear explanation</a> of how Apple will keep fingerprints secure.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">People who are spooked by the NSA will probably say this is nonsense, and that the government is out to get them no matter what. If that's your attitude, then we don't what to tell you.</span></p>
<p>For the rest of you, read this:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Your fingerprint data is not just "not stored in iCloud <em>yet</em>", it is not stored in iCloud by design, and according to my sources, never will be. iOS, even the system itself, cannot read from or write to the secure storage location where fingerprint data is stored - only the Touch ID hardware sensor itself can. And what is stored in that secure location are not fingerprint images, but cryptographically hashed values, unique both to your finger's biometric data <em>and</em> the device itself on which you scanned it. Even if someone does figure out how to obtain the fingerprint data from the secure storage on your <keyword id="6354606" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="iPhone">iPhone</keyword>, that fingerprint data should prove useless anywhere but on the unique Touch ID sensor on the iPhone itself - which device would have to be in the possession of your attacker/adversary in the first place for them to read the data.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">I'd be far more concerned about a nefarious criminal (or, let's face it, nefarious snooping government agency) decrypting the passwords I've saved on my iPhones ever since 2007 than their obtaining the fingerprint data stored by the Touch ID sensor.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/22/4136242/major-security-hole-allows-apple-id-passwords-reset-with-email-date-of-birth">The Verge first wrote about the security hole</a>, and Apple quickly took down the password reset page so it could fix the flaw. </p>
<p>Your Apple ID is the login you use to access iTunes and purchase music, videos, and apps. Millions of people have their credit card information tied to their Apple ID.</p>
<p>The flaw came to light a day after Apple enabled two-step verification for Apple ID logins. That means users have the options to receive a text message with a second unique password every time they want to log in. The process makes it more difficult for hackers to access your account because they'd need your cell phone too.</p>
