"The government has decided to extend the validity period of the Teachers Eligibility Test qualifying certificates from seven years to lifetime with a retrospective effect from 2011," the minister said in a statement. "The respective state governments and UTs will take necessary action to revalidate and issue fresh TET certificates to those candidates whose period of seven years has already lapsed," he added. Pokhriyal said this will be a positive step to boost employment opportunities for the candidates aspiring to make a career in the field of teaching. Possessing the TET qualifying certificate is one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a school teacher. The guidelines dated February 11, 2011 of the <keyword id="76195" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Council-for-Teacher-Education">National Council for Teacher Education</keyword> (<keyword id="146582" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NCTE">NCTE</keyword>) laid down that TET would be conducted by the state governments and the validity of the TET certificates was seven years from the date of passing TET. Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal extends validity of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) from seven years to lifetime

The Central Board of Secondary Education (<keyword id="6356155" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword>) has reduced the syllabus for the social sciences exam by providing relief to the students of class 10 all over the country. CBSE has taken the decision of reducing the syllabus in view of providing leeway to students in the class 10 board examination. The CBSE would conduct the social sciences paper for class 10 on May 27. A total of five units from the social sciences theory topics have been removed for the students. The revised syllabus would be displayed on CBSE's official website. According to the Union Education Ministry, due to the coronavirus pandemic the working days of schools have been reduced significantly this year. Most of the students have been provided education through the online medium. In such a situation, now the students, parents and teachers themselves are also in favour of reducing the curriculum for the students. Earlier, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, "In view of the extraordinary situation arising across the country due to Covid-19, CBSE has been advised to reschedule and reduce its syllabus." CBSE has reduced the syllabus by 30 per cent in various subjects after the Union Education Minister directed that the syllabus must be reduced. A specific syllabus would no longer be part of the board examinations and prescribed subjects scheduled for internal evaluation. School principals and teachers would also ensure that students are explained about the reduced subject contents to combine different topics. According to the Union Education Ministry, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, concrete suggestions were invited from academicians from all over the country on the subject of syllabus reductions. More than 150 academicians across the country have sent their suggestions on this subject.

India approves a new education policy after more than two decades

The Union Budget for 2024-25 will provide Rs 1.48 lakh crore for education, employment and skilling in the country. She said, "1,000 ITIs will be upgraded in hub and spoke model, course content and design will be aligned to the skill needs of industry and new courses will be introduced for emerging needs. I am happy to announce a new centrally sponsored scheme for skill development in which 20 lakh youth will be skilled over period of 5 years". "The model skill loan scheme will be revised to facilitate loans up to RS 7.5 lakh with a guarantee from government promoted fund..this measure is expected to help 25,000 students every year," she added. Budget 2024-25: Govt announces loans up to ₹10 lakh for higher education in domestic institutions

<keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kolkata">Kolkata</keyword>, Dec 26 () <keyword id="485341" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-West-Bengal-Board-of-Secondary-Education">The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education</keyword> on Saturday announced that the class 10 exams for 2021 will start from June 1, with strict adherence to all COVID-19 protocols. The secondary exams will continue till June 10, an official of the board said. "We have uploaded the details of the schedule for the 2021 Madhyamik (secondary) exams on our website. The examinations will be held with strict adherence to COVID protocols," he said. The exams for class 10 and 12 are usually held between February and March every year, but the 2021 tests have been deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state government had on Wednesday announced that the secondary and higher secondary (class 12) exams would be held one after another in June next year. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal '<keyword id="913696" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nishank">Nishank</keyword>' had earlier ruled out conducting board examinations for class 10 and 12 till February next year in view of the COVID- 19 situation. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has already announced the dates for the class 12 exams for 2021, but the authorities have been asked not to hold any test on June 30 on the occasion of 'Hul Diwas', state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee said on Saturday. Hul Diwas is observed annually on June 30 in memory of tribals - Sidho and Kanhu Murmu -who led the Santhal hul (rebellion) on June 30, 1855. Class 12 board exams for 2021 will start from June 15. Asked about the possibility of reopening of educational institutes, the minister said, "The COVID-19 situation in the state is under control now. We will take an appropriate decision at right time." The educational institutes in the state have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the authorities of schools, colleges and universities have made arrangements for online classes. In 2018-19, the former Finance Minister, <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> allocated ₹850 billion towards the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/an-in-depth-analysis-of-indias-education-budget/articleshow/67777731.cms">education fund</a>. This year, in the interim budget, he announced a 10% increase in the education budget, dedicating a total of ₹938 billion for schools and higher education programmes. The economic survey conducted last year has shown that the government had limited fiscal space to increase spending on education. While the school education budget increased in 2019 with a ₹500 billion fund, the higher education budget allocated for prominent institutions including Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) saw a drop. India ranks third in terms of education score of BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa).
