These tier II &amp; III cities included Coimbatore, Guwahati, Indore, Nagpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Rajpura, <keyword id="50863" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bhubaneswar" source="Orion">Bhubaneswar</keyword>, Kochi/Ernakulam, Madurai, <keyword id="6357203" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="varanasi" source="Orion">Varanasi</keyword>, Hubli, Ludhiana, Patna and Hosur. Among the major cities in India, Delhi-NCR led the pack with the highest industrial and warehouse land absorption in 2022 at 16% followed by Mumbai at 14%. Pune and Bengaluru saw absorptions at 13% and 12% respectively, while tier II and tier III cities accounted for 22%, Savills shared. The sectors that drove the absorption in 2022 were 3PL and ecommerce (52%); followed by manufacturing (16%) and retail sectors (13%). Increased demand in 2023 As per Savills, the industrial and warehousing market in India witnessed transactions of 3,800 plus acres of land across tier I, II and III cities in 2022, of which 64% was private land and 36% was government land. The warehousing sector in India also raised private equity to the tune of $1.5 billion in 2022. The interest in the market is expected to grow further in the future. “The market is likely to witness increased interest from investors in this asset class in 2023 owing to inherent domestic demand and expansion of distribution networks in tier II and tier III cities,” Savills said in a statement. As per Savills, tier II and III cities are poised to gain further momentum in 2023 and 2024 with ecommerce, retail and 3PL firms capitalizing on consumption-driven growth and pushing up the demand for warehousing space. As per the <keyword id="2646256" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="unicommerce" source="Orion">Unicommerce</keyword> 2022 report, more than 6 out of 10 orders shipped in 2022 went to buyers in tier II cities, and orders from tier III cities have also surged 65% since 2020. “The industrial and logistics sector is likely to see absorption of over 40 mn sq. ft in 2023. Tier II & III cities see 17.4% growth in industrial and warehousing absorption: Savills

New Delhi, E-commerce in <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> grew by 36 per cent and 30 per cent year-over-year (<keyword id="63194" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="YoY">YOY</keyword>) in terms of order volume and gross merchandise value (GMV), respectively, in the fourth quarter of 2020, said a report on Wednesday. However, the average order value declined by 5 per cent in Q4 2020 as compared to same period last year, said the report by <keyword id="2646256" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Unicommerce">Unicommerce</keyword>, an e-commerce focused supply-chain software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology platform, and global management consulting firm Kearney. The report showed that personal care, beauty and wellness as well as <keyword id="34523" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="fmcg">FMCG</keyword> and <keyword id="6354525" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="healthcare">Healthcare</keyword> were the biggest beneficiaries and saw volumes grow by 95 percent and 46 percent YoY, respectively. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities accounted for a 90 per cent YoY incremental volume and <keyword id="2657724" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="value-growth">value growth</keyword>. Interestingly, brand websites reported 94 per cent volume growth in Q4 2020 as compared to same period last year. "The e-commerce industry has emerged as the backbone of the retail industry and small and big players have realised the immense potential that e-commerce holds," Kapil Makhija, CEO, Unicommerce, said in a statement. "The e-commerce volume growth continued to accelerate in the last quarter of the pandemic hit year." E-commerce in India clocks 36% volume growth in Q4 2020

The total percentage returns (as a percentage of forward dispatches) saw a decline of ~13% as compared to last year and it constitutes ~17% of the overall order volume as compared to ~20% in the previous year 2 ● E-commerce companies have invested extensively to reduce COD returns as they constitute large part overall returns. The return percentage on COD orders have reduced from 27% in 2019 to 20% in 2020 and for prepaid orders, the total return has decreased from 12% in 2019 to 11% in 2020. New Delhi, May 12 () Online commerce platforms are estimated to have regained about 30 per cent of the pre-lockdown order volume in the last one week after relaxations were eased in the third phase of lockdown, a report by Unicommerce eSolutions said on Tuesday. Unicommerce is an e-commerce focused supply chain solutions provider, and claims to process over 20 per cent of the country's e-commerce volume. Its clients include Myntra, Bulbul TV, Urbanclap, Forever New, House of Anita Dongre, Jack &amp; Jones, Vero Moda and others. The company said it processes 4 lakh order items a day, amounting to over USD 2 billion (about Rs 15,000 crore) in gross merchandise value. "The overall e-commerce sector showed a good sign of recovery in the first week of lockdown 3.0 and made up for the steep decline of 40 days due to lockdown. The overall industry has reached 30 per cent of pre-lockdown order volumes which is a good sign for the industry," the report said. However, business will continue to take a major hit as over 40 per cent of the e-tailers are based in metropolitan cities which are currently in the red zone, it added. E-commerce companies have been permitted to sell all items in orange and green zones starting from May 4, 40 days after the nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 25. In the first two phases of the lockdown, e-commerce companies like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal were allowed to sell only essential items like grocery, medicines and healthcare products. In the red zones, that include top e-commerce hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, e-commerce companies can still ship only essential items. "The online fashion sector is one of the major contributors to overall India's e-commerce volume and growth. It includes apparel, footwear, bags, and accessories and has suffered the maximum impact due to the coronavirus pandemic. "During the first seven days of lockdwon 3.0, the sector has recovered 30 per cent of its pre-lockdown order volumes," the report said. It added that the segment is expected to see further growth in the current week, as it took a couple of days for retailers to get back into the business. The fashion sector is expected to see the next big jump once e-commerce operations begin in metro cities, considering all metro cities are presently under the red zone, the report said. Order volume for electronic appliances increased significantly, with recovery rate of 35 per cent in the first week of the third phase of lockdown. It added that there has been a 5-7 per cent rise in the average order size compared to the week before the lockdown was announced in March. Given that eyewear was placed under the essential category, online eyewear players continued to operate during the lockdown as well. "During the lockdown, the number of orders for eyewear decreased by over 60 per cent despite multiple promotions by leading online eyewear players. However, the order volume has increased by 70-75 per cent as compared to a week before lockdown 3.0," it said, adding that consumers were probably not aware that eyewear products operate under the essentials category. For the cosmetics category, some products were available under the essentials category "However, the order volume declined by almost 90 per cent during the time period. In the first week of lockdown 3.0, the cosmetics sector has not shown any significant signs of recovery, as the sector has only been able to regain 15-20 per cent of its order volumes. "Having said that, the sector is expected to recover but will take a slightly longer time than usual," the report said. E-pharma and online grocery sector witnessed a massive spike of 100 per cent spike during the first two stages of lockdown, with the average order size increasing by 20 per cent, it added. "However, there has been a negligible change in the number of orders in the last one week, beyond a spike of 7-8 per cent in the overall order size as people may have already stocked up medicines and grocery items. The lockdown is expected to result in a major boost for the sector in the current financial year," it said. Unicommerce CEO Kapil Makhija said the last 40 days have had a major impact and changed people's mindset about online shopping. "Even though the government has permitted certain activities, consumers are still wary of leaving the house and have adopted social distancing as a way of life. The essentials category has witnessed a major surge during the 40-day lockdown and will continue to see an increase in the overall demand," he said. With certain relaxations in the non-essential sales in green and orange zones, a similar growth is being seen in other sectors, he said, adding that e-commerce industry is expected to see a steep increase in orders in the long run as consumers would adjust to the new norms post-lockdown. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 434 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. Total income rose to Rs 10,448 crore for the period under review as compared to Rs 9,142 crore in the year-ago period, TVS Motor Company said in a regulatory filing. On a standalone basis, the company posted a profit after tax of Rs 577 crore for the first quarter as compared to Rs 468 crore in the June quarter of the last fiscal, it added. Total income rose to Rs 8,412 crore for the first quarter as against Rs 7,275 crore in the year-ago period. The company said its overall two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales including exports grew 14 per cent year-on-year, registering sales of 10.87 lakh units in the quarter ended June 2024 as against 9.53 lakh units registered in the quarter ended June 2023. Motorcycle sales grew by 11 per cent year on year at 5.14 lakh units in the first quarter as against 4.63 lakh units in the same period last fiscal. Scooter sales grew by 19 per cent year-on-year to 4.18 lakh units in the April-June quarter this year. Three-wheeler sales for the quarter under review stood at 31,000 units as against 35,000 units in the year-ago period, TVS said. Electric scooter sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2024, stood at 52,000 units as compared to 39,000 units in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. Shares of TVS Motor Company on Tuesday ended 0.75 per cent down at Rs 2,474.45 apiece on the BSE. TVS Motor Q1 profit rises 6% to ₹461 crore; total income at ₹10,448 crore

"At Rs 1,189 crore, growing 31 per cent YoY (year-on-year), the company reported its highest ever and 19th consecutive quarter of PAT growth on the back of strong operational performance and execution excellence across all its businesses of generation, transmission &amp; distribution, and renewables," Tata Power said in a statement. According to the statement, these businesses contributed 84 per cent of the PAT (net profit) in Q1FY25, compared to 72 per cent in the same period in FY24. The statement showed that the consolidated net profit before exceptional items was Rs 906 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2023. The company's revenue rose 12 per cent YoY to a record high of Rs 16,810 crore (from Rs 15,003 crore in Q1 FY24), and EBITDA grew 11 per cent to Rs 3,350 crore in the reported quarter (from Rs 3,005 crore in Q1 FY24). EBITDA refers to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. "All our businesses have grown profitably on the back of operational efficiency, execution excellence, and sustained business momentum," said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power. He informed that the planned capex for this financial year is Rs 20,000 crore and the company is committed to adopting and leading the new and emerging clean energy technologies, including pumped hydro projects, hydropower projects in Bhutan, and opportunities to develop small modular nuclear reactors as the government policy evolves. The company has recorded a capex investment of Rs 4,000 crore in Q1FY25. It has a clean and green installed capacity of 6.1 GW as of Q1FY25, accounting for 41 per cent of the capacity, with another 5.3 GW under execution. The combined order pipeline for utility-scale EPC and solar rooftop, including group captive, is Rs 15,500 crore. Tata Power is poised to garner 20 per cent market share in the residential rooftop segment on the back of its new solar manufacturing facility and strong pan-India channel partner network, it said. Tata Power net profit up 31% to ₹1,189 crore in June quarter

<keyword id="19963112" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Electric-vehicle-sales" source="keywords">Electric vehicle sales</keyword> registered a 55.2 per cent on-year growth at 1,79,038 units in July driven by a massive 96 per cent jump in e-two-wheeler sales, automobile dealers' body <keyword id="20108734" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FADA" source="keywords">FADA</keyword> said on Tuesday. The total <keyword id="6354973" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles" source="Orion">electric vehicles</keyword> sales for July 2023 were at 1,16,221 units, according to the monthly sales data from Federation of Automobile Dealers' Association (FADA). The electric two-wheelers sales during the previous month stood at 1,07,016 units, up 95.94 per cent, from 54,616 units sold in July last year, while the electric three-wheeler sales grew 18.18 per cent at 63,667 units, from 58,873 units year earlier, as per FADA. The commercial vehicle sales during the reporting month was also on an upward trajectory, growing two-fold on a year-on-year basis to 816 units, from 364 commercial vehicles sold in July 2023, it stated. Passenger vehicles, however, declined 2.92 per cent at 7,541 units in July, as against 7,768 units in the same month of last year, as per data. "The rising market share in the 2W and 3W <keyword id="22689146" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EV-segments" source="keywords">EV segments</keyword> for July 2024, with YoY growth rates of 95.94 per cent and 18.18 per cent respectively, and a market share of 7.4 per cent and 57.6 per cent, respectively for the month, is a clear indication of the growing acceptance and demand for electric vehicles in India," FADA President Manish Raj Singhania said. The PV segment, while showing a marginal year-on-year decline of 2.92 per cent, maintains a market share of 2.4 per cent, Singhania said, adding that the CV segment has shown remarkable growth with a year-on-year increase of 124.2 per cent and a current (July) market share of 1.02 per cent. The combination of attractive discounts and the anticipation of the discontinuation of the EMPS (Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme), despite its extension, has significantly boosted sales, he said. Announced by the Ministry of Heavy Industries in March, for a four months period-April 1,2024 to July 31,2024 to boost the adoption of EVs across the country with a total outlay of Rs 500 crore, the EMP scheme has now been extended by September 30, while the scheme's outlay has also been increased to Rs 778 crore.
