The online festive sale has been the biggest one the country has seen yet.

The sales that started on October 1 with Amazon are on throughout the week and gaining traction like never before. 
 Adding to the exclusive privileges and financial benefits being offered by portals like ShopClues, Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal the online marketplaces have also backed the entire sale by offering additional discounts through a partnership with banks like <keyword id="42456" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="ICICI">ICICI</keyword> Bank, Standard Chartered, American Express, <keyword id="45123" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HDFC">HDFC</keyword> etc.

 Online marketplaces <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> are ready for their annual festival sales starting the first week of October with Amazon. ShopClues and Paytm are also set to flag off their festive season sale around the same time. 
 
Flipkart's Big Billion Days 2016 and Amazon Great Indian Sale will be the most anticipated, just like every year but there are some things that have changed. 
 
• Flipkart has introduced ‘Your wish, our offer’ where products that have been ‘wish listed the most number of times will have bigger offers on them. After the 2014 technical glitches, we hope the sale-ing is smooth for this e-commerce player. 
 
• Amazon’s Great Indian Sale is scheduled for October 1- 5 and Amazon have announced Curtain Raiser Deals, where customers can choose between two groups of products - the most voted will go on sale at 12am on October 1. 
 • Snapdeal’s <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> sale is based on it’s rebranded tagline 'Unbox Zindagi' and starts from October 2nd till October 6th. Discounts up to 70 percent are promised as part of the <keyword id="3703614" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="snapdeal-unbox-sale">Snapdeal Unbox Sale</keyword> to the consumers. 
 
• What will be interesting to see is the amount of discounts and cashback that are offered this year compared to last year, since as reports suggest that the GMV in e-commerce has seen a decline of 20-25% in the first six months of 2016. 
 • We have also seen a trend of loyalty services offerings amongst the biggest players in the form of Flipkart First, <keyword id="758541" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Prime">Amazon Prime</keyword> and Snapdeal Gold. This ensures that the customer is given better service in terms of delivery or discounts, enabling the buyer to be loyal towards one player for all their shopping needs. 
 
• This also means that they are likely to spend big due to hooks in the form of extended offers of warranty, extra discounts after more spending and next-day deliveries. 
 • So far, so good. Amazon Prime is a leader in this category as the model has been tried and tested in the US. The crème-de-la-crème of the online shopper might enjoy these subscription services, but most <keyword id="25903" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indians">Indians</keyword> still like their products delivered for free. It’ll be interesting to see how Amazon adapts Amazon Prime for the Indian market. 
 
Bottom Line- This will be one heck of a season for the e-commerce giants to fight out since Indians remain discount-driven because they have been spoilt by the offers. The 2016 Festive Sales- What’s Hot And Happening.

The online market in India is buzzing with festive offers and electronics category has been one of the most popular categories across all major online shopping destinations. And Chinese smartphone maker, <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> managed to sell more than half a million smartphones in three days from 1st to 3rd October selling two phones per second. 
 Xiaomi products including <keyword id="2415488" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Redmi">Redmi</keyword> phones, Mi phones, wearables and power banks were made available across leading online shopping sites <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, Amazon and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, during their online festive sales. 
 Redmi 3S (along with Redmi 3S Prime) was the top-selling product on Flipkart during its Big Billion Days Sale while Redmi Note 3 was the best selling smartphone of Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sale. Xiaomi products like the recently launched Mi Band 2 and 10000mAh Power bank were also finding many takers making the products some of the most selling products within the electronics category on Amazon. Xiaomi made a major mark on Flipkart’s Big Billion Day Sale that began on 2 October, with smartphone sales starting on day two of the festival. Flipkart sold more than 800,000 smartphones in one day and Xiaomi contributed significantly to the overall sale numbers. Smartphones available included <keyword id="854541" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MI-4">Mi 4</keyword>, Mi Max, and Redmi 3S Prime. Xiaomi’s Redmi and Mi phones made it to the best-sellers lists of Snapdeal’s Unbox <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> Sale too. 
 
Manu Jain, India Head, Xiaomi said, “More than six months of rigorous planning and hard work has helped us set a new benchmark in the industry. Last year we sold more than half a million phones in 30 days during the month of October, and this year we were able to achieve a similar number within three days.” 
 Somewhat similar to <keyword id="6354427" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Apple">Apple</keyword>, Xiaomi too bank on their ‘Mi fans’ to cheer the company and lap up their products and this October Xiaomi has a lot more reasons to celebrate!

Further Google Trends shows that under related query search for online shopping sale has increased by 250 % with search for <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> standing tall at +300% in smaller cities. 
 <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>’s ‘Big Billion Day’, <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>’s ‘Great Indian Festival’ and ‘Unbox Diwali Sale’ from Snapdeal have found many takers in the smaller cities but if we were to draw clue from smaller cities there is hyper interest seen in these cities for ShopClues shopping portal. The shopping portal came fifth in the Google search in these cities. Shopclues had launched offers like 'Lowest Price Online Challenge' and ‘ItneKumMein’ which has helped the site increase sale by 80%. 
 
So brace yourself for the mad rush to get the best deal during the online festive sales all across the country and if you are a little too late to land that perfect deal maybe someone in a smaller city is a little faster than you!
