Nearly 80 hours of struggle to rescue a three-year-old boy stuck in a discarded borewell near here failed with the death of the child and retrieving of his decomposed body from a depth of 88-feet in the early hours of Tuesday. Commissioner of Revenue Administration J Radhakrishnan said those posted near the borewell noticed foul smell around 10.30 pm on Monday following which medical personnel and teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) assessed the situation. <keyword id="8261745" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sujith-wilson">Sujith Wilson</keyword> had fallen into the disused farm borewell while playing near his house in Nadukattupatti on Friday evening, and various central and state agencies were called in to rescue him. After Radhakrishnan declared that Wilson was dead, his body was pulled out and was sent to a government hospital at Manapparai, about 40 km from here for autopsy, and was later handed over to his parents. The exercise of pulling out the body was done in keeping with the national guidelines on "managing the dead" during such circumstances, he said in reply to a question. Tiruchirappalli district collector S Sivarasu told reporters at Nadukattupatti village that personnel of the national and state disaster response force personnel retrieved the body. Earlier on Monday, a heavy German-made drilling machine was deployed to dig a parallel shaft to reach the boy stuck at a depth of 88 feet, but rescue efforts were hampered by rocky soil and rain. Two Fire and Rescue Services personnel were lowered into the freshly drilled shaft, using a ladder and with all necessary support like oxygen, for initial assessment of the condition inside. The collector said, "Three loads of redimix concrete has been ordered and I will not leave this spot without closing the defunct borewell and as well as the parallel hole dug up for the rescue effort." As the boy's body arrived, a pall of gloom descended on the village and people lined up to pay their last respects. Police personnel have been deployed in adequate numbers to maintain law and order. Later, the body was buried in a local cemetery. Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and his Cabinet colleagues, including Vellamandi Natarajan, paid their last respects to the boy at the hospital. DMK chief M K Stalin, and leaders of political parties also condoled the death.

Gupta emphasised that the industry body will be working hand-in-hand with the universities and institutions in the area to build talent pipelines and garner support. And hiring from Tier-II cities is not just about tapping into new talent pools; it’s also improving employee retention, which has been a pain point for the industry in recent years. Tech Mahindra has tried to counter this by hiring for non-frontline roles from within the company, rather than hiring new talent. However, as Venkatesh Korla, the CEO of Americas at Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) pointed out, a cultural shift is still needed to rebrand BPM jobs. “It’s changing. It’s not 100 percent there yet… They’ve realised there’s a lot more stickiness and a lot more opportunity in the BPM space, and we see talent also want to take on these jobs,” Korla explained. <h2>Creating new markets</h2>Most AI processes are trained using large language models (LLMs). Many, GPT-Neo and BERT, are open-source, which means they’re free for anyone to use. However, enterprises are looking to build their own LLMs in-house to train their AI products primarily to maintain control over proprietary data – a move that opens up new opportunities for BPM firms. “Large SAS companies want to integrate their own LLM in their products and they require the same BPM services to actually train their models. That’s a huge opportunity,” Birendra Sen, the President of Business Process Services at Tech Mahindra, told Business Insider. <h2>The need for experimentation</h2>While the use of Gen-AI in the BPM industry is widespread, many initiatives are still in the Proof of Concept (POC) stage. This implies that while there is investment, both in terms of money and manpower, directed at creating more Gen-AI led solutions, they may not necessarily succeed. “If something fails, we just fail fast and move,” Gupta told Business Insider. Moreover, leaders like Venkatesh Korla view AI as a transformative tool that complements human expertise rather than replacing it. “AI is going to help in coaching, compliance, and in quality control. I call this the Iron Man's suit or the J.A.R.V.I.S. for Iron Man because it never replaces the human inside the suit. So, that's really how we need to look at it,” Korla remarked. New Delhi, State-owned <keyword id="19909029" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bhel" source="keywords">BHEL</keyword> on Wednesday said it has bagged an order to set up a 2,400 <keyword id="20225858" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mw-supercritical-thermal-power-project" source="keywords">MW supercritical thermal power project</keyword> (STPP) from coal <keyword id="20225857" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="psu-nlc" source="keywords">PSU NLC</keyword> India Ltd. This is the largest power sector order won by the company through competitive bidding, BHEL said in a statement. "BHEL bags an order for setting up a 2,400 MW Supercritical Thermal <keyword id="47379" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-project" source="Orion">Power Project</keyword>. BHEL has won the prestigious order under <keyword id="20225859" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="international-competitive-bidding" source="keywords">International Competitive Bidding</keyword> (ICB) for the greenfield project on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis at Jharsuguda in Odisha," the company said. The scope of the EPC contract includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of crucial equipment, such as boilers, turbines, generators, and other auxiliary systems, for the 3x800 MW thermal power project. The scope also includes boilers with biomass co-firing capability and highly efficient latest pollution control equipment. The project will be commissioned within 64 months. On commissioning, this plant will contribute to meeting the future base load requirement of electricity in the country. The major equipment will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Bengaluru, Ranipet, Bhopal, Rudrapur, and Varanasi plants while the company's power sector - southern region will be responsible for the civil works, and erection and commissioning of the equipment. BHEL has a long-standing partnership with <keyword id="20174233" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nlcil" source="keywords">NLCIL</keyword> and installed a significant 77 per cent of the coal/lignite-based power stations of the utility, totalling 3,590 MW. It is the largest manufacturer of power generation equipment in the country and has been a major partner in the country's vision to achieve self-reliance in energy.

Meanwhile, DMK ally Vaiko's MDMK is looking to bolster its vote share to ensure it gets a recognized symbol for the next elections. The ECI refused to allocate the 'Top' symbol to MDMK, saying the party is contesting only in one constituency. The MDMK was under pressure from alliance big-brother DMK to contest on the DMK Rising Sun symbol but Vaiko's party felt it would be better to strike out on an independent symbol. Vaiko's son Durai Vaiko had broken down in a public rally saying, "We are facing indirect pressure to contest the DMK symbol, but that would affect our party's image. Whatever it takes, he would contest their party's independent symbol." In Tamil Nadu's political history, the symbol for the election is a prestigious issue. When former CM and MDMK founder MG Ramachandran passed away, the AIADMK split. One faction was led by MGR's wife Janaki and the other by Jayalalitha. At that time, AIADMK two leaves symbol was frozen and Jayalalitha contest on an independent symbol of 'Two Pigeons' while Janaki's faction was given the Seval (Rooster) as its symbol. The findings, published in the scientific journal Nature Astronomy explains the mystery of how the Earth, which consisted almost entirely of molten magma in its initial formation, came to be covered in water, Kyodo News reported. A team of astronomers from Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency drew the analysis based on samples from the Ryugu asteroid collected by the Hayabusa2 space probe. "In a broad sense, it is possible that small celestial bodies brought things that led to water and life on Earth," Motoo Ito, a senior researcher of geomaterials science at the <keyword id="14731597" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="japan-agency" source="Orion">Japan Agency</keyword> for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, was quoted as saying. In December 2020, a capsule that had been carried on a six-year mission by Hayabusa2 delivered more than 5.4 grams of surface material to Earth from the Ryugu asteroid, located over 300 million km away. While Ryugu particles displayed a close compositional match to that of Earth's water, there were some slight differences, leading researchers to hypothesise that Earth may have also sourced its water from places other than asteroids, the report said. An analysis of eight particles, totalling approximately 59 milligrams, from the Ryugu asteroid found in almost all of them organic matter and water not in liquid form but a hydroxyl group consisting of one oxygen atom bonded to one hydrogen atom, with a composition similar to that of water contained in cosmic dust and comets. Protected by a "cradle" of phyllosilicates, they were believed to have endured harsh environmental changes after leaving the outer solar system, where water and organic matter are present. Organic areas comprising a matter known as aliphatic hydrocarbon were also found within the relatively coarse-grained phyllosilicates. The surrounding coarse grains, which are more resistant to heat, may have prevented water and the organic matter from being altered by the environment, the report said. Hayabusa2 left Earth in 2014 and reached its stationary position above Ryugu in June 2018 after travelling 3.2 billion km on an elliptical orbit around the Sun for more than three years. The probe touched down on the asteroid twice the following year, collecting the first-ever subsurface samples from an asteroid. Researchers have previously found that Ryugu, born from a parent body formed in the outer solar system, travelled to the inner solar system and that its particles contain amino acids -- organic compounds said to be the "source of life." The <keyword id="14624373" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital-Employment-Outlook" source="Orion">Digital Employment Outlook</keyword> Report by TeamLease suggests that tier 2 and 3 cities like Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Cochin, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Indore, Mysore, Vadodara, Madurai, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Mangalore, Lucknow, Nagpur, Goa, Salem, Durgapur, Vijayawada and Trichy are the 20 emerging destinations for IT in India. These cities are likely to contribute over 85% of the talent from emerging locations across India. “We estimate the digital skills population across emerging locations to be over 75,000,” the report suggests. “Opening centers in emerging locations would ensure taking jobs to people instead of taking people to jobs. The Covid-19 pandemic pushed the companies in almost all the sectors to offer work from home to employees. The workforce which shifted to their hometowns now are reluctant to come back. The companies are also willing to adopt permanent remote working and are also tapping into tier 2 and 3 cities to attract the talent pool in these locations. Keeping in mind that work from home will still persist, more than 61% of IT-BPM companies had contract employees working from remote locations. This helped the companies to reduce the burden of hiring full time employees at short notice and execute short-to-medium term projects at lower costs and minimal resources. It has also led to an increase in the number of contract jobs by at least 24,000 in the last two quarters, the report highlights. The number of contract job opportunities is estimated to grow from 1.5 lakh in FY22 to 1.81 lakh in FY23. “As India’s IT employment is expected to double in the next five years, contract staffing share is expected to grow from the current 3% to 6%. Further, every job in the technology sector had a multiplier effect leading to the creation of about 3.2 million indirect jobs, the report says. The headcount in the IT BPM industry will grow from 5.1 million to around 5.45 million in FY-2023 which is about 7% growth when compared to the previous year. Out of 5.1 million people, the majority of the employees are working from home as companies have started looking for other ways to get back to normalcy. “IT-BPM industry continues to be a sunshine industry in India, being the largest employer in the private sector, employing about 3.9 million people, and contributing to over 8% of the GDP. Our industry here also amounts to 55% of the global outsourcing market,” Chemmankotil said. Chemmankotil of Teamlease further highlighted that the employment in the technology sector in India will further increase from 5 million to 10 million in the next few years. BHEL is looking for medical professionals across various states in India

<ul><li>There is a misconception that mostly people in the Tier 1 cities consume content on OTT platforms. </li><li>However, as per <keyword id="12247415" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gudsho" source="Orion">GudSho</keyword>’s data, it receives more traction from Tier 2 cities of South India than from the Tier 1 cities.</li></ul>A study undertaken by GudSho, a <keyword id="12247416" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="south-indian-ott" source="Orion">South Indian OTT</keyword> platform, has unveiled some interesting insights on viewership trends on their platform. This study is based on visits and searches by nearly 4,79,281 people across top 17 Indian cities that landed on GudSho between April – September 2021. Some of the key findings of the study: 1. Demand for OTT based on Geodemography There is a misconception that mostly people in the Tier 1 cities consume content on OTT platforms. However, as per GudSho’s data, it receives more traction from Tier 2 cities of South India than from the Tier 1 cities. Its content is mainly viewed by consumers from Tier 2 cities like Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Virudhunagar, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli Kozhikode, Thiruvanathpuram, Vijayawada, Warangal, Vishapatnam, Guntur, Hubli- Dharwad, Belgaum, and Bellary. 2. What do people search for on OTTs? The most popular search terms on GudSho include ‘Mani Ratnam’ and ‘Rajinikanth’ movies. Actor Vijay is also constantly trending on our platform (Thalaivaa, Thamizhan &amp; Kadhalukku Mariyaathai). Another trend we noticed was that if a film is telecasted on TV, people tend to search for that film on OTT. For instance, when Thalaivaa was telecasted on TV, we had over 5,000 users watching that film the day after. It was the same case with Telugu films like Aame and Shakti which found more audience after TV telecasts. 3. Repeat worthy watches Close to 50% of films on GudSho are regional language classics. No matter how old these films are, they still attract many repeat viewers. This shows that it is not just the new films that viewers are looking for; even catalogue contents help OTT platforms hold on to their viewer base. 4. Weekdays or Weekends? Though people prefer consuming OTT content during the weekends, it is seen that even on weekdays, people watch movies post work hours. We see a surge in views between 7.30 PM and 11.00 PM on weekdays. The preferred genre during these timings seems to be the classic movies on GudSho. On the other hand, weekends see more traction during the mornings since evenings are typically reserved for more social activities, unless if it is a movie night with family/friends. 5. Genre preferences based on age group Viewers between 30 and 40 seem to prefer the latest blockbuster films like The Great Indian Kitchen, Aame, and Shakthi and Indie films like Sennai, Pen Paadhi Aadai Paadhi and Dilemma. People between 40 and 55 are more interested in classics like Thalapathi, Kadhulukku Mariyathai, Amaidhi Padai, Mouna Ragam and Nayakan. The majority of audiences on OTTs prefer Adult films. On our platform, we have movies such as Trisha Illana Nayanthara and Chittakodu 2, which are most watched. 6. Genre preference &amp; duration of consumption In general, commercial films are where big bucks are; more people want to watch a good action film or a fun entertainer. Although, when you look at the average watch time for these films, people tend to watch only a section of the film or perhaps half of the overall duration. On the other hand, classics &amp; hard-hitting films get comparatively less traction, but watch time is on the higher side as most viewers watch 3/4th of the film. 7. Star power or Quality content? Many believe that only star power can get a good reception on OTTs, which is partially true. The top actors do help a new film reach a wider audience, but the quality of content always contribute in word of mouth recommendation for a movie, eventually reaching more audience. Lesser known, not so proven films have surprisingly worked well on GudSho.
