At the same time, I had gotten into the best shape of my life. Both finances and fitness inspired the name of the account.I started talking about my past jobs on Stocks and Squats, including how much money I made in each role, what my experiences were, and how I broke into data analysis. Some of those videos went viral, and I heard from a lot of people telling me the transparency was really eye-opening for them.At one point, I asked my viewers what they thought of me going out on the street and asking people how much they make. Besides the account, we've made some free resources for our community, including a <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19w4j73GZYvHmkMUoh3KXTcjChy5vrszEipl4syAw4_s/edit#gid=1429310897">board</a> where people can anonymously share their jobs and salaries, and we've already received 1,000 responses so far.(In Salary Transparent Street's most-watched TikTok, which has more than 19 million views as of this writing and was filmed in Alexandria, Virginia, an attorney with nine years of experience says she makes $134,000, and a teacher with five years of experience reports making $53,000.) <h2>How I shoot videos</h2>We try to interview people at least three days a week, usually filming for one to two hours to get enough content to last a week.Two or three years ago, I wouldn't have had the guts to do this. I think what changed is I gained more courage and confidence in my career, realizing my worth through <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/questions-to-ask-in-interview-to-avoid-new-hire-regret-2022-3">changing jobs</a> and realizing I'm not at the bottom of the totem pole just because of my age or experience. That has influenced how I'm able to approach people on the street.Some viewers think we only profile people who make a certain amount, but that's not the case. Unfortunately, people with very high or very low pay don't want to speak to us as much as people with more average pay. This is exactly the thing I'm trying to combat. I want people to know your pay doesn't dictate who you are, your value, your intelligence, or your worth in society.Some people are hesitant to share their salaries, and we try to talk to them about why it's valuable to have these conversations. Not everyone changes their mind right away, but if we can get them to think about it, then I think I've achieved my goal.Salary Transparent Street is growing very fast; hopefully, we can grow to something that can be monetized.We're going on a tour this summer, planning to hit all 50 state capitals and surrounding areas to show the discrepancy of salaries in different areas. Workers will still have to grapple with a range of pandemic-related questions, such as how they will safely return to the workplace, if at all. This is where the role of transparent leadership comes into view. A <a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/hrm.20391">study</a> from the HR Science Forum showed that transparent organizations - that is, organizations that are open, honest, and informative with their employees - are more productive, innovative, and trustworthy. Calum Smeaton, founder and CEO of UK-based adtech company TVSquared, is one of many leaders who has decided to squarely center their paradigm on transparency. He's joining such leaders as Twitter's Jack Dorsey, who <a href="https://scroll.in/latest/988025/many-dont-trust-us-says-twitter-ceo-vows-to-make-content-moderation-practices-more-transparent">pledged in February</a> to make the platform's content moderation policies more transparent, and Zoom's Eric Yuan, who <a href="https://time.com/businessperson-of-the-year-2020-eric-yuan/">received praise</a> for his transparent response to a security breach on the platform this past year. TVSquared began as a small startup idea conceived in Smeaton's kitchen in 2012. Today, the company has over 100 employees and delivers analytics for advertisers in more than 75 countries. TVSquared has measured <a href="https://tvsquared.com/tvsquared-celebrates-1-million-tv-campaigns-measured/">over 1 million TV ad campaigns to date.</a> "Employees need to know both the good and the bad" about the company's status, Smeaton said. "If you're not transparent, that's where you create a breeding ground for insecurity." <h2>Transparency is hard when working remotely </h2>Even during non-crisis times, <a href="https://fortune.com/2013/04/30/note-to-executives-your-employees-are-in-the-dark/">84% of employees</a> think they don't get enough information from management. Leading with transparency becomes even more difficult when the only way you can collaborate with your team is through virtual means.Megan Clarken, CEO of online <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> company Criteo, has said that it's difficult to get a sense of how her employees are faring through digital conference calls. "The fact that you're never face-to-face with somebody except for on Zoom and this sense of not really knowing whether people are okay or at the edge, this becomes really challenging for me," <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/leadership-qualities-employees-want-from-their-boss-right-now-2020-9">Clarken told Insider in September.</a> "For me, personally, it's hard to not get a feel of whether the 2,700 people I'm leading are okay." Because you aren't physically with your coworkers every day, Clarken recommended that leaders consider setting up consistent times for meetings, creating open lines of communication with your employees, and bonding with your colleagues without a business agenda. <h2>Communicate often </h2>When the pandemic started, Smeaton decided to turn TVSquared's monthly town hall meetings into weekly updates in order to keep the team more regularly informed with developments. "It was really about keeping everyone up to date, and having three very clear goals as to what we had to focus on during that time," Smeaton said. "The team, the customers, and the cash." Regularly informing employees about company updates helped to keep uncertainty at bay throughout the team, according to Megan Garnett Coyle, TVSquared's vice president of communications. "Especially at the start of the pandemic, when everything was so up in the air, knowing more than expected has brought a level of calm," Coyle told Insider. Mercury Systems CEO Mark Aslett, who was rated Glassdoor's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/glassdoor-highest-rated-ceos-during-the-coronavirus-pandemic-2020-9">highest-rated CEO during the coronavirus pandemic,</a> gathers every manager in the company on a weekly video call to solicit feedback. He dedicates 40 minutes every week to answering every manager's questions directly. Aslett's strategy allows employees to get direct answers from executive leadership. That way, they're able to feel heard and get their answers from the top of the chain immediately.<h2>Maintaining transparency levels </h2>As TVSquared continues to grow, it has become more difficult to keep everyone in the loop. "In the startup world, you go through so many ups and downs, and at bigger companies, you don't really feel the bumps in the road," Smeaton said. "At a small company, everyone feels the little bumps." After nearly a decade in business, TVSquared is beginning to mature past its startup phase. That means Smeaton has had to be especially intentional about maintaining transparency across the company. "Transparency is really easy when you're 10 or 15 people all in the same office," Smeaton added. "As you grow and get spread across four or five, six different offices with people working from home, then you have to change the way you get those messages out, and you have to change the structures you have in place to do that."

But depending upon the subject you are trying to isolate, it can be laborious and time consuming. It all comes down to how much overlapping detail there is between the foreground and background. We'll look at two ways to make the background transparent: an automatic approach which only takes a few seconds, but might fail when used on complicated images, and a manual approach you can try if the first method doesn't work. <h2>How to make a background transparent in Photoshop using the Remove Background tool</h2>1. Open your photo in Photoshop. 2. Duplicate the image in a new layer. To do that, press Ctrl + A followed by Ctrl + C and then Ctrl + V. (That selects the entire image, then copies it, and finally pastes it as a new layer.) You should see a new layer appear in the Layers palette on the right side of the screen.3. In the Layers palette, find the Background layer and click the eye icon to the left to hide it from view. Nothing on the actual image canvas should change, because the duplicate Layer 1 is on top of the Background layer anyway. 4. There are several tools you can use for this, and which ones you use depends on the image you are working with and your personal preference. First, though, you need to unlock your background layer.1. Open the photo in Photoshop and, in the Layers palette, double-click "Layer 0." Also found in the same cubby, click the Magic Wand inside the subject and it will select a region that has a similar color. This is in the third position on the Tool palette (just above the previous three tools). These tools - found in the same place as the regular lasso - let you draw selections using straight lines. For complex subjects, you'll want to "build up" your selections in stages, because it's often impossible to properly select the entire subject all at once. To do that, you will want to vary the selection style, which you can find at the top of the window. <ul><li>New selection. Only use this mode when you're starting to select an object. Every time you use a tool with this mode selected, you'll start your selection over from scratch. </li><li>Add to selection. This is the mode to use when you are "building" your selection - each time you use the tool, the new selection will be added to your previous selections. </li><li>Subtract from selection. And despite rolling out tons of new features, the company runs an extremely tight ship, with relatively few leaks of privileged information to people outside the company
Yesterday, CEO Jeff Weiner <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-employees-jeff-weiner-ipad-mini-2013-2">rewarded every employee</a> with an iPad mini to celebrate the company's success. 
<a href="http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/02/14/linkedin-jeff-weiner/?section=magazines_fortune&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fmagazines_fortune+%28Fortune+Magazine%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">Fortune hosted Weiner</a> at a dinner last night, <a href="http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/02/14/linkedin-jeff-weiner/?section=magazines_fortune&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fmagazines_fortune+%28Fortune+Magazine%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">and reports</a> that he attributes the lack of leaks to <keyword id="6434802" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Transparency">transparency</keyword> and treating employees "like adults," he says. "I've come to learn there is a virtuous cycle to transparency and a very vicious cycle of obfuscation." 
This cycle begins when a company hides things from employees, they have to dig to satisfy their curiosity, resent having to dig, and end up leaking. Then management further restricts information and <a href="http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/02/14/linkedin-jeff-weiner/?section=magazines_fortune&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fmagazines_fortune+%28Fortune+Magazine%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">goes on a hunt for the leakers</a>, making the problem even worse. 
According to Weiner, LinkedIn makes a conscious effort to do the opposite, to be as transparent as possible. He hopes that creates a virtuous cycle, where he can trust his employees, and they trust the company in return. 
When companies try to hide things, whether it's work on a new product, impending layoffs, a struggling division, or internal tension, it doesn't just produce leaks. It makes people worse at their jobs. They feel less appreciated, less trusted, and less motivated. That's why more companies are taking a step even further and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/radical-transparency-in-small-business-2013-1">becoming radically transparent</a>, sharing even salary information across the entire company. The argument is that secrets eventually get out, and it's better to manage it well than have a cycle of retaliation.
The base message for managers couldn't be simpler. When people are treated like adults, they're more likely to act like adults.

JEFF WEINER: LinkedIn Doesn't Leak Because We Treat Employees Like Adults

A look at the unique challenges leaders in the sports industry face and how they find success in this fast-paced, very public field Twenty years ago, <keyword id="852310" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="YPO">YPO</keyword> member David Shoemaker was working as a corporate lawyer in New York. “I was working for some of the best blue chip companies in the world but not feeling terribly passionate about what I was fighting for,” he says. So Shoemaker quit his job at his law firm and turned to his childhood passion — sports. After getting his foot in the door with the Women’s Tennis Association, he landed his dream job in 2011 as CEO of NBA China. “I’ve been able to marry this great passion for basketball that I’ve had since childhood with the skills that I’ve acquired professionally,” he says. “I get to come to work every day clicking my heels.” In the mid-1980s, then-NBA commissioner David Stern traveled to China with a backpack full of video tapes showcasing NBA games and convinced China Central Television to air those games on national television. Basketball caught on — and in the last few years, “the popularity of the game has really exploded,” Shoemaker says. “We have more than 110 million followers on social media in China. It dwarfs any other sport here in China or anywhere else in the world. It’s really quite remarkable.” The flipside of working in a sport you love and which has such tremendous growth opportunities is that you are placed under fairly unremitting scrutiny by the press. “What we do is in the public domain on a daily basis,” Shoemaker says. “Unlike some other businesses which — barring an incredibly positive or negative development — can go the entire year without the public paying attention to them, people are routinely reading about what we do, if not on the front page of the sports section, then sometimes on the front page of the newspaper itself.” In addition, your customers feel such a direct and visceral connection to your company that every armchair coach with a Twitter account is determined to give you their analysis of last night’s game. It’s a scenario that YPO member Dave Kaval knows all too well. As President of U.S. Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes, he’s used to life under the microscope. “It’s unusual to be conducting business in such a public forum. It’s a double-edged sword,” he says. “On one hand, it’s challenging to manage. But by the same token, the passion is what makes running the business so interesting. You have customers who care in a way that they wouldn’t if they were just, for example, buying a computer. That emotional connection brings with it unbelievable power and ways to use your brand for a lot of positive ends.” Kaval has had the sports industry bug since 2002 when, while attending business school at Stanford University, he launched and ran the Golden Baseball League, an independent minor league that ended up attracting star players like Rickey Henderson and Jose Canseco. Since Kaval joined the Earthquakes in 2010, the team’s fortunes on the field have increased, and the club has opened a new USD100 million stadium where, as Kaval puts it, he regularly hosts “18,000 of my closest friends.” Kaval runs an open-door policy whereby once a week any of “these friends” can drop by and give him a piece of their mind. “I had a guy who came in one time and he had a new formation he wanted us to do,” Shoemaker says. “He laid it all out. He had all of these little pieces and props, but there were 12 men. I was thinking, ‘If I’m allowed 12 men on the field, I think I am definitely going to do well.’” Despite whether the ideas are constructive or even doable, Kaval believes, “Transparency, openness and an open line of <keyword id="24346" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="communication">communication</keyword> is very important when you have passionate supporters and people who care for your product. At times when we were a little more cloistered it invited speculation. It allowed fans to get heated and riled up in ways that were usually not constructive.” An extreme openness to feedback is one of the hallmarks of the sports chief executive. “We exist or loss every weekend and where the loss is judged, torn apart and discussed for pretty much the entire week,” says YPO member Andrew Fagan, CEO of Adelaide Football Club. “Whether you succeeded or failed, you still need to review hard so you can quickly make adjustments. It’s an environment of improvement over much shorter lead times than most other businesses. The ability to both give and receive feedback is a really important part of a football club, and we use the word ‘accountability’ often because we need to get better every single day.” LOOKING AFTER THE FANS In China, Shoemaker has teams that are focused on collecting data from social media and surveys and on engaging fans through every means possible to help the organization stay responsive and to drive its innovations. For instance, when fans repeatedly brought up that while NBA games are played in prime time in the United States, they screen in the morning in China, Shoemaker responded by opening up new channels that resulted in encouraging results. Average viewership on digital and mobile platforms in the 2015-2016 season almost doubled, and the number of fans who watch NBA games via mobile devices was up more than 260 percent. “We’ve invested in our mobile distribution of live games, in our video on-demand content, and our chats and social media narratives so the fans can engage with the NBA in the way that they want to, and at the times that they want to,” he says. “Our mantra is to do our level best to be true to fans. Replace the word ‘fans’ with ‘consumers’ and I think this applies across most businesses.” YPO member Mark Weightman, President of the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes, says this focus on the needs of fans is part of a broader business strategy. “Everything is relationships,” he says. “Whether it’s fans, broadcasters, sponsors or the player’s association, you can never over-value the importance of building strong relationships that are based on trust.” Weightman’s own relationship with the Alouettes is a longstanding love affair. He started with them as an intern when they were the Baltimore Stallions and followed them to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he worked his way up to top management. “I guess you could say that I’ve definitely been very loyal to this organization,” he says with a chuckle. “Same franchise for 22 years, two countries, two cities, two names, I’ve worn many different hats and had many different titles.” Having a love for the game is vital, particularly when times are tough. “My staff doesn’t necessarily need to be diehard Alouettes fans, but they do need to be passionate about the sports industry,” Weightman says. “There are demands that are placed upon people in this organization that go far beyond what someone working for, say, a marketing agency, would ever have to live through and deal with. There is no such thing as being off the clock, but you also never run out of energy because you’re fueled by so many different passions within and around you.” The Alouettes had an extraordinary run between 2000 and 2010 in which they won the Grey Cup (the league championship) three times. But then a lot of the star players retired and moved on, leav-ing the team in a rebuilding phase. “We’re about halfway through our season and admittedly we are disappointed with our results so far, but we’re continuing that climb back, looking to create that next dynasty,” Weightman says. He’s determined to bring the fans along with him and engages with them at every opportunity. Once a week, he picks up the phone and calls season ticket holders to ask for their opinions and thank them for supporting the team. “I prefer not having a specific agenda for the call,” he says. “It feels more meaningful than calling for a predetermined purpose.” CONNECTING WITH THE COMMUNITY Over in Australia, meanwhile, Fagan has helped reinforce support for Adelaide Football Club by becoming a crucial part of the community. “We’ve got a vision of bringing people together to achieve great things,” he says. “When we look at our supporter base and the community in which we interact, we feel as though there’s a responsibility to spend time with them, to play a role in helping people achieve their own personal goals.” To that end, the club has a charity foundation, a mentoring plan for the indigenous community and a school program to help kids develop mental resilience. It makes sense for all chief executives, whether in the sports industry or not, to invest in their local communities. It also makes sense to put customers at the heart of everything and to collect as much data about their desires so innovations can be made around them. To solicit and accept customer feedback — no matter how harsh — and react to it swiftly. To find the passion in what you do and hire staff who share that passion. And finally, as Shoemaker says, always savor the very best parts of your job and remember why you love it. “I do my level best not to get overly excited when I spend a little time with Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant,” he says. “But there is still a fan inside of me that thinks that’s pretty cool.” (The article is authored By Rob Orchard, Co-founder and editorial director of the Slow Journalism Company. At Ann Arbor software company Menlo Innovations, for instance, employees democratically handle all hiring, firing, and promotion decisions.
This led to an awkward incident when the staff voted to fire the niece of Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder James Goebel, but despite his objections, she was let go.
In <a href="http://nymag.com/news/features/bossless-jobs-2013-6/">a feature on the company in New York Magazine</a>, Matthew Shaer describes a place where there are no cubicles and no real bosses. Employees' names and jobs are stuck on the wall, along with their pay grade.
Goebel and Rick Sheridan, his co-founder and CEO, mainly think about overall <keyword id="6363690" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="strategy">strategy</keyword>, represent the company at conferences, and deal with any accusations that an employee has done something illegal.
"On the days I spent at Menlo, I never once saw any worker pay Sheridan or Goebel any special deference. No one talked any differently in their presence." <a href="http://nymag.com/news/features/bossless-jobs-2013-6/">Shaer writes</a>. "They were there as team shrinks and advisers, and yet they were also not there — the rest of the office thrummed on around them, regardless of what either of them did."
The transparent <keyword id="24504" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="culture">culture</keyword> has worked well so far. The company has grown rapidly and gets a flood of applications for every open position.
Other companies have also embraced the idea, moving towards flatter, more open office cultures, although they're not quite in the same league as Menlo.
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sumall-ceo-interview-2013-3">New York-based SumAll</a>, for example, shares its employees' salaries, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hubspot-ceo-brian-halligan-on-company-culture-2013-6">Boston's HubSpot</a> publishes detailed financial information on its internal Wiki. <keyword id="249410" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="HubSpot">Hubspot</keyword>'s employees are even encouraged to call out the CEO there if they disagree.
<div>The concept is not flawless. Things can move slowly in the absence of someone with final decision-making power, and there's some question about how scalable it is. </div>
But that's not a reason to regard "radical <keyword id="6434802" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Transparency">transparency</keyword>" as a fluffy experiment that isn't workable in the long term, or worth considering for any but a few startups.
First, an increasingly large portion of every company's workforce is going to hail from gen-y. Not all of the stereotypes about millennials are true, but data <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeannemeister/2012/08/14/job-hopping-is-the-new-normal-for-millennials-three-ways-to-prevent-a-human-resource-nightmare/">shows they're more likely to job hop</a>. Often it's because millennials don't feel like they're learning something or don't feel any ownership of their jobs or decisions, and as a generation that's grown up on the Internet, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hubspot-ceo-brian-halligan-on-company-culture-2013-6">they expect more transparency.</a> Too many companies are still designed around the idea that you have to serve your time quietly before getting any decision-making power or agency. Cultures that offer autonomy and the potential to advance according to skill and effort are much more appealing to this generation.
Second is the massive tech talent crunch. People argue that the demand is overstated, and that companies want to open the way for immigration simply to push for lower salaries, but the reality is that companies can't find the tech talent they need and have even resorted to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hubspot-ceo-brian-halligan-on-company-culture-2013-6">offering $30,000 referral bonuses</a> for developers. 
For companies that can't match Google or Facebook on amenities or salary, culture and transparency are the differentiators.
 That's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sumall-ceo-interview-2013-3">what helped analytics provider SumAll</a> hire a top developer for a third of what he could have gotten elsewhere. The company's transparency, flat structure, and how every employee contributes part of his ownership stake to a charitable non-profit mattered more than the money. 
Some people get scared by autonomy and agency, and they'll still likely find work where they can get told want to do every day. But those aren't the kind of employees that most companies want.

Even The Co-Founder's Niece Isn't Safe At A Radically Transparent Company

So what united Republicans and Democrats? Of all possible things-including a failed resolution regarding <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/183" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&amp;q=https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/183&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1474659143957000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGyO8PuAOuRjFjRANmcocQvhP3sbQ">puppies for veterans</a>-it was fintech.HR 835 calls for the U.S. to "adopt a national policy for technology to promote consumers' access to financial tools and online commerce to promote economic growth and consumer empowerment."In plain English, this resolution (not yet a law) demands our government develop a policy to create tools to help consumers understand and manage financial assets. The language also encourages prioritizing the acceleration of development that supports transparency and security-"technology experts can play an important role in the future development of consumer-facing technology applications," it says.The creators of these tools would likely be private versus public-sector businesses, a.ka. fintech companies.Congressional support for fintech is long overdue for the industry, which right now faces huge consumer demand amid growing pains. It's also great for consumers, for whom this very industry was created. Take, for example, marketplace lending, which arose from consumer demand for easier and faster access to capital following the 2008 crash. Marketplace lending was a game-changer for consumers who had less-than-great FICO scores or credit histories.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image">Morgan Stanley</div></div></div>To help them, LendingClub, Prosper, and others offered a lifeline, superior in cost and speed than to what traditional banks were offering. Consumers, in turn, paid higher interest rates than prime borrowers did, which fueled positive returns for investors on the platform. This cyclical nature of the exchange benefited everyone.Now, just eight years after this industry was created, we're at an inflection point. Why? It's imperative that consumers understand what's available to them, what they're signing up for, and how they can access better rates and cheaper capital.But while tools that provide transparency for consumers are vital, tools that provide transparency for investors are perhaps even more important to our economy.Online lending's new reliance on capital markets means that the more investors are interested in backing the loans, the better the terms are for consumers. Conversely, it also means that if institutional investors pull back, loan availability shrinks while interest rates rise.So how do we make it easier for traditional institutional investors to participate in fintech?Much in the same way we can make it easier for consumers-by encouraging the development of tools that heighten transparency and empower investors to make smarter, faster decisions.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">Udemy</div></div></div>Tools that provide transparency for investors can take several different forms. What happened to transparency for investors?

Transparent LPG, or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=LPG+cylinders&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">cooking gas cylinders</a>, will soon make way to your home and the pilot projects have already begun in Pune and Ahmedabad. <o:p></o:p>
 These <keyword id="3098311" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Transparent-LPG-cylinders">transparent LPG cylinders</keyword> will come as a huge relief to consumers, who are routinely frustrated over less quantity of gas in steel cylinders. Despite instructions from the gas companies to carry weighing scales for checking weight of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cylinders&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">cylinders</a>, majority of the delivery vendors either get a rigged spring balance or no weighing scale at all.

	2016 has been declared as the ‘Year of LPG Consumers’ and various measures are being initiated by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=dharmendra+pradhan&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan</a> to provide clean fuel to the entire India.

	The idea behind transparent cylinders is to bring a sense of accountability and transparency into the system and provide value for money to the consumers.

	The minister had recently assured that the government is working on the modalities for launching composite transparent cylinder but assured it would be a reality in FY 2016-17. <o:p></o:p>

	“Efforts are being made to expedite launch of the pilot project, which is subject to successful supply of composite cylinders by the manufactures and getting statutory approvals,” Pradhan said.<o:p></o:p>

	However, these transparent cylinders will be double the cost of steel ones. <o:p></o:p>

	But, Indian consumers will be satisfied that they are getting full gas as it will be impossible for the distributors of LPG cylinders to deliver less quantity. <o:p></o:p>

	Sources said the composite transparent LPG cylinder will be made available in this fiscal only and the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will be procuring these cylinders through competitive bids by floating public tender.

	“We expect large number of bids from various cylinder manufacturers. This will help in price discovery through competitive bidding,” said a senior oil company official.<o:p></o:p>

	A feasibility study on marketing of LPG in Composite cylinders by Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) is underway and a public tender has been invited for procurement of composite cylinders by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).

	 “While the cost of procurement of composite transparent LPG cylinders is presently estimated at around Rs 2500-3000 (almost double the value of existing steel cylinders), the cost will go down subsequently as we move to bulk procurement of these cylinders…so for consumers it may initially mean slightly higher security deposit, which too may be shared by the oil companies. The details are being worked out in this respect,” the oil company official said.<o:p></o:p>

	“We conduct sudden surprise random checks at the godowns of distributors to prevent any pilferages…further all the distributors are under instructions to provide portable weighing scales to all their delivery boys for checking weight of the cylinder at the time of delivery. Whenever customers receive underweight cylinder, the distributors are under instructions to replace the same with correct weight cylinders,” said a senior oil company official. <o:p></o:p>

	Alongside, the distributors have also been instructed to ensure that the seals are verified &amp; shown to the customers at the time of delivery. Joint inspections/ raids are conducted along with State Civil Supplies Deptt to arrest the menace of pilferage of LPG and cases are filed by the District Administration against the culprits under various provisions of Essential Commodities Act and other relevant acts. <o:p></o:p>

	OMCs have also introduced Tamper Evident Seals on pan India basis from 01.04.2016 to prevent pilferage/supply of underweight cylinders. In all established cases of supply of underweight cylinders/ pilferage by distributors, action is initiated as per provisions of Marketing Discipline Guidelines/ Distributorship Agreement.

Bid goodbye to pilferages as transparent LPG cylinders are going to be a reality soon

With the federal funds rate pushed to its zero lower bound for years, "communication" has been the central bank's major, if not only, chip left to play.
That is, through "<keyword id="1785661" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Forward-Guidance">forward guidance</keyword>" the bank has endeavored to tell us what long-term interest rates will look like.
So it's ironic, writes Credit Suisse's Neal Soss, that markets were doubly surprised by the Fed's first hint of a taper of its asset purchasing program and then again by its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/september-fomc-statement-2013-9">no taper decision yesterday</a>.
"Ideas that seem reasonable in the long run become uncomfortably constraining the closer in time they come," Soss writes to clients. "We have seen this with the 6.5% unemployment rate threshold for low interest rates, the 7% unemployment rate marker for the end of QE3, and the mid-June pronouncement that tapering may begin later this year."
Simply put, transparency is hard stuff, according to Soss.

Looking forward, all we can do is watch the factors FOMC policymakers cited in their unexpected decision not to taper today - economic data that support or cast doubt on their expectations for continued growth and improving labor market conditions, financial market conditions (especially mortgage rates), and the potential for continued restraint from fiscal policy. While we expected today's meeting would bring more short-run monetary policy visibility, the reality is that the FOMC has left the markets guessing.
To be sure, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/fomc-press-conference-september-2013-9">Bernanke stressed</a> that the decision came down to economic data and was not some bait-and-switch. He downplayed the claim that the "Septaper" was somehow a sure thing. "I don't recall stating that we would do any particular thing at this meeting," he told reporters. 
Still: "In the spirit of 'watch what they do, not what they say,' it's hard to know now what to make of the repeated and nearly universal references by Fed officials to taper," Soss writes. "When push came to shove, those words didn't carry the day."

CREDIT SUISSE: The Great Irony Of Ben Bernanke's 'Transparency'

<ul><li>On 26 September, a three-judge bench of <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> approved a plan to commence the <keyword id="1057009" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="live-streaming">live-streaming</keyword> of its proceedings to the <keyword id="207034" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="general-public">general public</keyword>. </li><li>Live-streaming will mainly extend to cases directly related to articles in the <keyword id="6363843" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="constitution">Constitution</keyword>, not personal matters. </li><li>There is, however, one condition that the Supreme Court laid down. There will have to be 10-minute lag in the broadcast so as to ensure that any information that should not be shown can be cut out. </li></ul> In response to a series of public interest litigations demanding that court proceedings be live-streamed, in July 2018 India’s Supreme Court started looking into the possibility of doing so. The court asked Attorney General K K Venugopal to submit a report on protocols for live-streaming. At the time, all parties expressed the benefits of such a move. These included greater <keyword id="6434802" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="transparency">transparency</keyword> and information for litigants and their clients, a reduction in crowds as well as an educational component for law students and legal interns. The rationale seemed clear: if India already had a system of open courts in place, why not evolve to a system of virtual open courts? With the live broadcast of Parliamentary sessions, a precedent was already in place. As a result, on 26 September, a three-judge bench of Supreme Court approved a plan to commence the live-streaming of its proceedings to the general public, mainly for cases directly related to articles in the Constitution - which have the most implications for the Indian citizenry. Speaking on the verdict, Justice Chandrachud likened greater transparency to “sunlight”, which he termed as “the best disinfectant”. The judicial authority has asked the central government to frame regulations for this. It is likely that cases involving personal matters such as matrimonial issues will be excluded from public broadcast. The move will reportedly be implemented gradually. In the initial phase, proceedings from either one court will be live-streamed or a select number of constitutionally important cases will streamed on a pilot basis. Thereafter, more and more courts in the apex court will open their doors to live-streaming. There is, however, one condition that the Supreme Court laid down, which slightly contradicts its “transparency-first” approach . There will have to be 10-minute lag in the broadcast so as to ensure that any information that should not be shown can be cut out of the footage. The court will also retain the copyright over the content that is broadcast.

I’ve experienced that firsthand — whatever your task or scope of work, you don’t know how that connects to your manager and your manager’s manager, and how that is all kind of interconnected."
Duggan says that in a large corporation with multiple departments it's easy to get your company's message lost in the shuffle. Being clear and concise about your company's mission requires you to communicate that vision across sectors. According to Duggan, the best way to go about that is to be transparent. If you publish your company's goals every month and circulate them throughout the office, your employees will not only feel that you are being open and honest with them, but they won't lose sight of where they're headed.
"So the biggest thing we focus on is this concept of “interlock.” It’s about how we get all the departments connected with their goals — from the C.E.O. to the front-line person — so that all of those goals and controls are transparent...To achieve that, we publish company wide goals and controls. We have six major goals this year, and there might be three or four metrics for each. We publish that every month for the company. It’s transparent. Then we talk every month with the company about whether we’re at green, yellow or red on any of those six things, and we are very transparent about that. We don’t hide the bad news."
