The bike, which was earlier named T6X will finally make its debut in the country. Tork Motors, which is a Pune based electric vehicle manufacturer which had received <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/thelife/personalities/news/ratan-tata-investment-news-announcement/articleshow/71592210.cms">investment</a> from <keyword id="6360722" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ratan-tata" source="Orion">Ratan Tata</keyword> in 2019. The company will host a virtual launch in the last week of January. Tork Motors has claimed that the Kratos has been developed after six years of research and development. The bike will be powered by the company’s LIION battery pack and an axial flux motor. The Kratos will come with the company’s Tork Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS) that will offer detailed information to users about power consumption, technical analysis, ride information and range analysis. “It’s not only renamed as KRATOS but developed entirely as a brand-new motorcycle than T6X with notable redesigned frame and styling achieved by rigorous testing with internal and external teams,” said <keyword id="2154838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kapil-shelke" source="Orion">Kapil Shelke</keyword>, chief executive officer of Tork Motors. The bike will reportedly come with redesigned LED headlight, taillight and a new version of split seat for seating comfort to the city rides. In addition to this, the larger battery pack is claimed to offer better range and faster-charging ability. Customers will be able to book Kratos electric bike soon after the launch and the bikes will be delivered in the coming months. Tork Motors to launch its electric bike Kratos this month

<ul><li><keyword id="7801263" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tork-6x">Tork 6X</keyword> is likely to be ₹55,056 more expensive than Super Splendor, but will save ₹58,364 in running costs over 50,000 kms. </li><li>The users can breakeven on the higher initial costs of Tork 6X in 4 years. </li><li>Users can breakeven from the higher costs of electric scooter Ather S340 in 1.6 years, when compared to Honda Activa. </li><li>Electric scooters have become cheaper than petrol scooters as the life of lithium ion battery is 15 years while that of a petrol scooter is 10 years. </li></ul>Fewer Indians are open to the idea of hybrid or <keyword id="6354973" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles">electric vehicles</keyword>. Apart from trying the unknown, consumers are held back by fewer models along with prohibitive costs of electrical vehicles. The good news is that the costs are coming down. While the purchase price tag is high, the government eases this burden with incentives. In addition, the running costs of an electric vehicle, particularly two-wheelers, can provide enormous cost savings. Here is some math to support the theory. Tork 6X versus Super Splendor A report by Kotak Institutional Equities pegged the top most purchased motor bike Hero’s Super Splendor against a popular electric vehicle Tork 6X. Tork 6X is likely to be ₹55,056 more expensive than Super Splendor, even after adding in government incentives. But, it will also save running costs to the user by ₹58,364 in over 50,000 kms. Electric bike users can breakeven on the higher initial costs of Tork 6X in 4.7 years, on an average. If due to some reason the government decides to rescind the benefits, the breakeven time can move up to 6.6 years. There is something else that will weigh in favour of electric vehicles. The new BS-VI emission norms will kick in next year and make petrol bikes costlier by ₹7,000. It will truncate the time taken to breakeven to four years. However, the breakthrough in ownership of electric vehicles will be in 2030 when Kotak expects the electric battery costs to fall. “Currently the shift towards electric bikes is not significant because of lack of product availability in the market while the bigger players like Hero, Honda, Bajaj and <keyword id="87196" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS-Motors">TVS Motors</keyword> haven’t launched electric bikes. However most of these players are planning to launch electric bikes over the next 2-3 years,” the Kotak report said. Electric Scooters to be cheaper Scooter users might find it much easier to shift to electric vehicles as the total cost of ownership tilts heavily in favour of them. Considering increased price of normal scooters after new emission norms kick in, the breakeven between electric scooter Ather S340 and the most sold scooter, Honda Activa is pegged at 1.6 years. Also, the life of an electric scooter is much higher than a petrol scooter, making it a wiser option in the long run. “In terms of cost of ownership, electric scooters have become cheaper than petrol scooters as the life of lithium ion battery is 15 years while the life of a petrol scooter is 10 years,” the Kotak report says. Yet, electric bikes are yet to catch the fancy of the market. But, the shift to electric vehicles is inevitable. “The automobile industry is at the cusp of a revolution with adoption of cleaner vehicles (electric and <keyword id="935925" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="plug-in-hybrid">plug-in hybrid</keyword>) over petrol/diesel vehicles. We expect 28% of automobiles (except commercial vehicles) in India to shift to EVs by 2029-30 with scooters and three-wheelers adopting electric much faster than other segments,” the report said.

Priced at Rs 1.25 lakh, the T6X electric bike received over 1,000 pre-bookings within 24 hours of its launch last month. The deliveries will be commenced by next year only after the production picks up pace. 
 
The immense power of electric bike comes from a DC 6kW (8bhp) electric motor with a pack of lithium batteries which are imported. 
 
On a single charge, this motorcycle can run up to 100 km and offer a top speed of 100kmph which is a feat in itself.

The latest one is from the startup Okinawa Scooters, which has become the first electric two-wheeler company to get the Fame-II approval and incentivization. Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &amp;) Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme was announced by the Indian government in 2015 to push forward the production and use of electric vehicles. With their inclusion in the Fame scheme, consumers will get a subsidy in the purchase of Okinawa scooters, depending on the model battery kilowatt hour. The Okinawa scooters start at a price range of ₹45,000 and go upto ₹1,46,000. “For Okinawa Ridge+ &amp; i-Praise the subsidy would be between ₹17,000–₹26,000 based on kwh,” said Jeetender Sharma, Founder &amp; Managing Director, Okinawa Autotech Pvt. Ltd. India has seen growth of many EV startups who are manufacturing bikes in India. Okinawa also faces competition from other Indian startups like Ather Energy. Ather Energy’s bikes start at a price range of ₹1,13,000 and it has raised funding from the likes of Hero Motocorp. Pune-based Tork Motors which was one of the first in India to announce electric motorcycles is set to launch the motorbikes soon with an expected price range of ₹1.5 lakh. Another rising competition in the space comes from Revolt Motors, which has been founded by Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma. Revolt will be launching AI-powered electric bikes in India by June 2019. <a href="https://www.carblogindia.com/revolt-electric-motorcycle-riding-range/">Rumours</a> suggest that the bike, which will be initially launched in Delhi NCR, could be priced between ₹1-1.20 lakh. “With the thought process to provide the consumer with the ‘Make in India’ product we started working initially on localization of our electric two-wheeler components which helped us in getting the FAME-II approval,” said Sharma. The company’s official statement said that their products have met all the government parameters that help in availing subsidy – a speed of around 40 kilometres (km) per hour, a range of about 80 km/charge, sourcing 50% of the inputs from within India and using Lithium-ion battery.
