<p> Adfest 2014 has announced the shortlists in eight categories for the 2014 <keyword id="71296" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lotus">Lotus</keyword> Awards as three days of <keyword id="6356234" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Speaker">Speaker</keyword> Sessions, Workshops and Award Presentations kicked off today at <keyword id="6357117" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="bangkok">Bangkok</keyword>. It concludes on Saturday, March 8.</p>
<p>
	Among the shortlists announced so far, Indian agencies have secured 16 shortlists, of which eight are for Press Lotus alone, followed by five shortlists for Film Craft Lotus, two for Media Lotus and one for Radio Lotus.</p>
<p>
	Among agencies, Grey Worldwide India bagged the most shortlists at six for its work for Duracell. McCann India has three shortlists - two for its campaign for Audiobooks and one for its campaign for Star Aids Awareness.</p>
<p>
	JWT India and Creativeland Asia secured two shortlists each while BBDO India, Linen and Unimagic Studios secured one shortlist each.</p>

Adfest 2014 Kicks Off: India Secures 16 Shortlists On Day 1

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Apple faces backlash over an ad that critics say portrays Thailand negatively.</li><li>The 10-minute comic short shows business partners rushing around the country.</li></ul><p>Apple is facing backlash over a recent ad set in Thailand, which critics say portrays the country as backward and shabby.</p><p>The 10-minute video, uploaded to YouTube in mid-July, is part of a series of comedy shorts called "The Underdogs," and showcases Apple features and products through the adventures of four hapless business partners.</p><p>In the latest episode, "The Underdogs: OOO (Out Of Office)," the characters head to Thailand to source a packaging company at the behest of a demanding and egotistical client back in the US, played by "Superbad" actor Christopher <span>Mintz-Plasse.</span></p><p>To adapt to his constantly changing requests, they dash around the country on aging trains, buses, and tuk-tuks, trying to find a key supplier. They encounter obliging locals, and a very dingy hotel — with all their problems ultimately smoothed over on the fly by Apple features.</p><p>In 2020, "The Underdogs" managed to snag a Directors' Guild of America nomination for achievement in directing commercials — but the latest episode has bombed on social media, and comments on YouTube have been turned off.</p><p>Numerous complaints from Thai-focused accounts have appeared on TikTok and X, racking up hundreds of thousands of views.</p><p>"The video portrays something that looks like Thailand in the 1960s," said TikToker <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@weetalkthailand/video/7396368205633080594?q=apple%20ad%20thailand&amp;t=1722501216967">That Thai Auntie</a>.</p><p>Many commentators noted how shabby a lot of the architecture and interiors looked despite much of the ad being set in Bangkok, a highly modernized city.</p><div type="image" title="A still from Apple's July 2024 advert The Underdogs: OOO (Out Of Office), showing a busy Bangkok street in sepia tones." height="542" width="1000" msid="112197846" hostid="261" sizebytes="63170"></div><p>Others remarked on the footage's sepia-toned color grading, which <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.media-diversity.org/yellow-filter-a-cinematic-technique-or-pushing-stereotypes/">media critics have said is often used to convey a less-affluent environment.</a></p><p><a target="_blank" class="" href="https://x.com/Rattapoom_K/status/1816749244906373626">One X user joked</a> that Thailand has become a "yellow filter" country, saying, "I like how Apple put a third-world filter on contemporary Bangkok in their ads. It's very classy."</p><p>Several social media users <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@numjourney/video/7396639624904412423">posted images of modern Thailand</a> in order to contrast with the run-down surroundings featured in much of the ad.</p><div type="image" title="A still from Apple's July 2024 advert The Underdogs: OOO (Out Of Office), showing a worried-looking woman in the foreground of a shabby hotel room." height="547" width="1000" msid="112197622" hostid="261" sizebytes="30848"></div><p>One TikTok user, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@shoaib_live_pro/video/7396574015260871944">in a post that has had almost 70,000 views</a>, contrasted it disapprovingly with a brightly-colored 2023 Google Pixel ad, which includes both modern and rustic aspects of Thai life.</p><p>It's "100% stereotyping," <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@singhsocial/video/7397766562792459538">said TikTok user Rohit Singh</a>, who said he has lived in the country for over a year.</p><p>He filmed his response — which was seen more than 18,000 times — in an airport, making the point that the interior was far more modern than that shown in the Apple ad.</p><div type="image" title="A still from Apple's July 2024 advert The Underdogs: OOO (Out Of Office) showing the four main characters rushing through a crowded and slightly dingy airport." height="539" width="1000" msid="112197841" hostid="261" sizebytes="42844"></div><p>The portrayal particularly stings for East Asians, he said, given the amount of manufacturing labor these countries provide for tech companies.</p><p>Indeed, last year, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Supply-Chain/Apple-in-talks-with-suppliers-to-make-MacBooks-in-Thailand">Nikkei Asia reported</a> that Apple was looking to expand its manufacturing base beyond China, with a view to making its Macbooks in Thailand.</p><p>Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has defended the advert, saying it could still benefit the country's "soft power," <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.bangkokpost.com/life/tech/2839626/apples-out-of-office-advertisement-faces-backlash-in-thailand">the Bangkok Post reported</a>.</p><p>It's the second time this year that Apple has faced criticism of its advertising. The latest "Underdogs" ad comes only weeks after <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apples-bad-ad-not-original-lg-electronics-15-years-ago-2024-5">the company pulled</a> a badly-received iPad ad.</p><p>That ad depicted a hydraulic press crushing musical instruments and other creative tools. </p><p>It was <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ipad-ad-crush-apple-backlash-overreaction-explanation-2024-5">meant to convey</a> how many features are crammed into an iPad but <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-ipad-pro-ad-crush-tim-cook-ratioed-2024-5">reminded many onlookers</a> of the potential threat that technology, particularly AI, poses to creative careers.</p><p>In that case, Apple's head of marketing and communications, Tor Myhren, said the company "missed the mark."</p><p>Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.</p>

An Apple ad bombed in Thailand over complaints it makes the country look dated and shabby

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Apple is facing backlash for an iPad ad showing analog art tools getting crushed.</li><li>It apologized for the ad Thursday, and <a target="_blank" href="https://adage.com/article/digital-marketing-ad-tech-news/apple-apologizes-ipad-pro-crushed-ad-it-missed-mark/2559321">Ad Age reported</a> Apple wouldn't run the ad on TV as planned.</li></ul><p>Apple apologized Thursday for a widely panned <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/people-are-tearing-into-apple-for-its-latest-ipad-ad-2024-5">iPad ad</a> showing time-tested artistic tools — paint, a piano, camera lenses — getting crushed in a hydraulic press.</p><p>Cribbing a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-marketers-using-hydraulic-press-and-slime-videos-music-promotions-2021-10">viral trend</a>, the commercial was supposed to tout the creative promise of Apple's new <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/new-apple-ipad-pro-air-launch-2024-5">iPad Pro</a>. But many viewers were just plain pissed.</p><p>"Our goal is to always celebrate the myriad of ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through iPad," Tor Myhren, the company's vice president of marketing communications, <a target="_blank" href="https://adage.com/article/digital-marketing-ad-tech-news/apple-apologizes-ipad-pro-crushed-ad-it-missed-mark/2559321">told Ad Age</a> in a statement. "We missed the mark with this video, and we're sorry."</p><p>Apple no longer plans to run the spot on TV as previously planned, Ad Age reported — though it's still available on the hardware giant's YouTube channel (with the comments turned off).</p><p>Earlier this week on X, Apple CEO <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-ipad-pro-ad-crush-tim-cook-ratioed-2024-5">Tim Cook's post sharing the ad</a> was flooded with criticism.</p><p>One commenter said the ad ironically represented how tech giants were squashing human creativity with artificial intelligence. At the same time, the <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/paulg/status/1788281290510197191">Y Combinator cofounder Paul Graham</a> suggested Steve Jobs never would have OK'd the ad.</p><p>But it turns out, the ad wasn't even an original idea.</p><p>Fifteen years ago, the Korean electronics company LG used almost the same concept in a UK spot for its Renoir camera phone.</p><p>In that ad, musical instruments, computer monitors, studio lights, and paints are all crushed in a press — before the sleekly intact Renoir is revealed.</p><p>Of course, there's no evidence Apple — known for its unique marketing prowess — copied LG's creative. It's more likely that the concept of crushing a bunch of different devices down into one product is a bit basic.</p><p>It's also safe to say that back in 2008 — when technology felt more like a galvanizing opportunity than a looming threat — the ad probably didn't ignite nearly the same firestorm.</p><p>Some YouTube commenters of yesteryear even seemed to really like it.</p><p>"Love this advert for some relly wierd reason," one viewer wrote in 2008.</p><p>Another added at the time: "Anyone who has this phone, is really that good or just an excellent ad?</p><p>Neither LG nor Apple immediately responded to a request for comment.</p>

Apple pulls iPad ad that it says 'missed the mark'

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Apple</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Last December, <a href="http://adage.com/article/agency-news/grey-s-tor-myhren-head-marketing-apple/301845/">Apple hired Tor Myhren</a> from Grey Worldwide to be its VP of marketing communications.</p><p>It's a senior role, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook, and on Monday, Apple added <a href="http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/">Myhren</a> as a notable vice president on the senior leadership page on its website.</p><p>Myhren is generally in charge of Apple's <a href="http://9to5mac.com/2015/12/17/opinion-apple-promotions-executive-losses-apple-future/">visuals and brand</a>. He signs off on <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> like billboards, TV ads, web design, packaging, and other marketing communications. He replaced Hiroki Asai, an 18-year Apple veteran who retired last year and was known as one of the executives most in tune with what former CEO Steve Jobs liked and disliked.</p><p>From Apple's press release announcing his hire: </p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>Tor will be responsible for Apple's advertising efforts and will lead an award-winning team that spans a broad range of creative disciplines from video, motion graphics and interactive web design to packaging and retail store displays.</span></p><p>At Grey, Myhren tripled the size of its flagship New York office to 1,000 staff members and was the creative mastermind <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/who-is-tor-myhren-2015-12">behind the E*Trade talking baby</a>. </p><p>Apple is in the process of moving much of its advertising out of longtime partner Media Arts Lab into an internal "marcom" division. Recently, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/taylor-swift-in-apple-ads-in-the-future-2016-4">Apple produced a hit ad</a> starring Taylor Swift in-house, for example. </p><p>Myhren looks sharp in his official PR bio headshot wearing a subtle camouflage sweater over a shirt and tie. Apple adds its top advertiser to its executive leadership page

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Apple announced a sweep of management changes <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-new-coo-jeff-williams-2015-12">on Thursday</a>, which includes the appointment of Tor Myhren, who has become the company's vice president of marketing and communications.<p>43-year-old Myhren will join in early 2016&#xa0;from well-respected ad network&#xa0;Grey Group, where he was worldwide chief creative officer and president of its New York shop Grey New York.</p><p>Now he's moving client-side. At Apple he'll be responsible for all the brand's marketing efforts - everything from its big TV campaigns, to packaging, and retail store displays.</p><p>He clearly can't wait to get started.</p><p>Myhren&#xa0;sent Business Insider this statement: "My eight years at Grey aren't just the best years of my career, they've been the best years of my life.&#xa0;I have treasured every single minute of working side by side with my mentor and friend Jim Heekin. There are no words to express how proud I am of what we built together.&#xa0;Apple has had such a positive influence on my life, and has helped shape and inspire my creativity more than any other product on the planet. I am humbled to be joining Tim and the team."</p><h2>A string of awards to his name</h2><p>Myhren&#xa0;is a Mad Man with great pedigree. He was the creative mastermind behind the E*Trade talking baby, the DirectTV campaign with Rob Lowe, he made Ellen DeGeneres a CoverGirl model when she was 50-years-old, and most-recently the hard-hitting domestic violence PSA that run during this year's Super Bowl.</p><p><div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">In the six years he has been running Grey's flagship office, he's tripled its size to more than 1,000 staff and led it to being named trade magazine Adweek's global agency of the year in both 2013 and 2015.</p><p>As well as winning countless industry awards for his work (globally, Grey won 113 of the prestigious Lions awards at the annual Cannes Lions <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> festival this year,) he's also picked up gongs as an influential individual. He was named in Fortune's "40 under 40" list, Fast Company's "Most Creative People in Business" list, <a href="http://adage.com/article/creativity-50/creativity-50-2010-tor-myhren/142640/">AdAge's 2010 "Creativity 50</a>," and he's given two TED talks.</p><p><div></div></p><p>He'll be sorely missed at Grey. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://www.apple.com/pr/bios/jeff-williams.html">Apple</a></span></p><p class="caption">Apple's new COO Jeff Williams.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Apple <a href="https://www.apple.com/pr/library/2015/12/17Apple-Names-Jeff-Williams-Chief-Operating-Officer.html">announced on Thursday</a> that Jeff Williams has been promoted to COO.</p><p>Williams previously oversaw Apple's supply chain, the same job that current CEO Tim Cook used to do under Steve Jobs.</p><p>Apple mentions in its press release that Williams oversaw the development of the Apple Watch, the company's first wearable computing device that it launched earlier this year.</p><p>Williams was previously COO in everything but title. He worked as senior vice president, operations. Cook previously worked as COO before he took over as CEO in 2011.</p><p><a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-names-williams-new-coo-puts-schiller-in-charge-of-app-store-1450364838">The Wall Street Journal spoke to an anonymous senior executive </a>at Apple who said that Williams' promotion isn't a sign that he's in line to be the next CEO. Instead, they said it formalises the role that Williams has been carrying out for years.</p><p>That's not the only change that Apple announced today. Apple shuffled its executive team and has a new COO

The monster, played by Brad Garrett, decides to leave his solitary life behind.</p><p>"<span>An unexpected holiday visitor finally receives the warm welcome he's always yearned for," the ad's description on YouTube says.</span></p><p>After making a long journey through snow covered mountains, the monster makes a rather odd attempt to befriend a crowd of onlookers in a remote town: By screwing two light bulbs to his neck and singing along to a backing track played on his iPhone.</p><p>After failing to amuse the crowd, one young girl gives him a hand - and everyone eventually joins in.</p><p><div><p><a href="http://giphy.com/gifs/l0MYLZB3NrxxtNqzS">via GIPHY</a></p></div></p><p>The ad is called "Frankie's Holiday," and has the strapline "Open Your Heart to Everyone."</p><p>"It's a if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it type of thing. Apple released a weird and heart-warming Christmas ad starring Frankenstein's monster

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Amos Ben-Gershom, Israel Government Press Office.</span></p><p class="caption">Apple's Johny Srouji (left) with Israel President Reuven Rivlin.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Apple has given Johny Srouji, its new chief of hardware, around $9.6 million (£6.4 million) in stock that will vest over the next four years, <a href="http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000120919115087193/xslF345X02/doc3.xml">according to regulatory filings with the <span>U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission</span>s</a>.</p><p>Sruoji was awarded 90,270 restricted stock units on October 5 that will vest in 12.5% installments over the next four years.  </p><p>The offering brings Sruoji's total stake in Apple to around $34 million (£23 million) at today's stock price of $107, <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2015/12/29/johny-srouji-awarded-90k-stock-sec/">according to MacRumors</a>. He holds 217,305 units of restricted stock and 101,881 units of common stock. </p><p>Srouji was promoted in November as part of Apple's executive shakeup that saw Jeff Williams promoted to COO, Phil Schiller put in charge of the App Store, and Tor Myhren, from the Grey ad agency, join Apple as vice president of marketing and communications. </p><p>Srouji joined Apple in 2008 and worked on the iPhone's A4 processor, which was the first that Apple built in-house. Here's everything you need to know in the world of advertising today.</p><p><strong>1. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-q1-earnings-2017-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Facebook reported $8 billion in revenues for its most recent quarter</a>. </strong>The company blew past analyst expectations, and the bulk of revenue came from mobile advertising.</p><p><strong>2. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/criteo-q1-2017-earnings-2017-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ad tech's brightest star Criteo sees an opportunity in the closure of Twitter-owned rival TellApart</a>.</strong> CEO Eric Eichmann said the wind down was "good news" because it means Criteo could scoop up TellApart's clients, and perhaps partner with Twitter as a publisher.</p><p><strong>3. <a href="http://www.adweek.com/digital/storyful-and-ad-measurement-firm-moat-are-creating-a-database-to-track-fake-news-and-hate-websites/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Storyful and ad measurement company Moat have partnered to monitor fake news and hateful content online</a></strong>. Storyful is owned by News Corp, and the pair will compile a blacklist of sites which they will distribute to agencies and advertisers to help them decide on ad placement, according to Adweek.</p><p><strong>4. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-to-hire-3000-moderators-to-keep-suicides-from-being-streamed-2017-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Facebook is going to employ 3,000 moderators to help it keep live video clean</a></strong>. The moderators will prevent crimes, suicides, and other inappropriate content from going live after incidents like a Thai man <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-39706205" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">killing his child and then himself</a> on Facebook Live.</p><p><strong>5. <a href="http://www.thedrum.com/news/2017/05/04/appnexus-leads-adtech-consortium-enable-people-based-marketing-rivaling-facebook-and" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ad tech players including AppNexus, LiveRamp, and Media Math have launched a consortium to take on the advertising duopoly of Google and Facebook</a>.</strong> The move should make it easier for media buyers to target ads at people outside the 'walled gardens' of the two companies, according to The Drum.</p><p><strong>6. <a href="http://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/youtubes-barb-bid-rejected/1432247" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">YouTube was reportedly rejected in an attempt to get TV-style accreditation for its viewing figures from UK ratings organisation Barb</a></strong>. Microsoft's Bing Just Unveiled Its Giant, Full-Page Takeover Search Ads [THE BRIEF]

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>If "Mad Men" is anything to go by, working in the ad industry back in the 1960s looked like an awful lot of fun.</p><p>There's the drinking, the sex, the fashionable clothes, the fancy restaurants, the big creative ideas (that often look as though they were made up on the spot<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">), and the exciting inter-office dramas.</span></p><p>The <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> industry would probably like to portray that the darker side of its "Mad Men" history - the alcoholism, misogyny, and bitter rifts between co-workers and competitors - are just that: Legacy of a bygone era.</p><p>But what's it really like? Are there still the three Martini lunches, sex in the supply closet, big macho pitches? With the seventh and final season of "Mad Men" just around the corner, we decided to ask.</p><h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Better. But not well enough.</p><p>Leeanne Leahy, president of the VIA Agency, said the industry still has a long way to go: "Today the culture is more tolerant and accepting of women, but it isn't inviting enough. The industry talks about having women at the helm, and there are more women leading agencies. However, as an industry, we've created an environment that is accepting of women's success but doesn't actively invite it."</p><p>DDB Worldwide's Kassaei agrees. "I believe that we still have to work on gender equality in the industry. We need more women as creative leaders," Kassaei said.</p><p>The ads targeting women have taken a more realistic approach, however, according to Lou Aversano, CEO of Ogilvy &amp; Mather New York: "We've gone from ads that told women how they could be better wives if they used a certain product to creative work that inspires women to be confident in who they are. Ogilvy's 'Real Beauty' campaign for Dove is a great example of this."</p><h2>How have those big pitches changed?</h2><p></p><p>They're still as bombastic as ever. DDB Worldwide's Kassaei says you still have to "wow" the room.</p><p>Tor Myhren, worldwide chief creative officer at Grey, told us: "Pitches haven't really changed. They're like our version of the Olympics. You work day and night for weeks or months, all for the chance to get on that high-pressure stage for two hours and sell your idea. They're competitive as hell, and in my opinion, the best part of the job."</p><p>But Myhren says some of the antics Don Draper pulls in his presentations would be "laughed at" today: "We're past the whole 'dramatic delivery' thing. Just get to your idea, make it relevant, and make it crystal clear. Never mind the drama."</p><p>There's still an element of Draper, but there's more sophistication to pitches now, VIA Agency's Leahy told us. "'Mad Men' always showed Don Draper capturing the imagination of a client, which hasn't changed; our job is still to show them what's possible. That said, there are more rational components to pitches than there once were. We're more involved with non-emotional components, such as procurement and the competitive nature of the pitch. Instead of working in a vacuum, we prefer to work with clients when possible."</p><h2>And what about the day-to-day? Is it still as high-octane is it looks in "Mad Men?"</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>"There is no day to day," RTO+P's Red says. "It's more like day and night."</p><p>DDB Worldwide's Kassaei described his average day: "My day starts at 5am with conference calls to DDB's Australian and Asian markets. I arrive to the office at 7:30am, but I don't have time for 'Mad Men'-style 'lunch meetings' or breaks. If I am not in the office, I am flying. Last year, I was on a plane for 300 days out of the year. I am still smoking, but outside the building."</p><p>Not only have days got longer, but they're more intense, Ogilvy's Aversano told us: "You have to factor in digital, the use of data, media channels. There are more players and more ideas on the table. We have so many more channels and platforms to consider - so much more than Don Draper and his team had to think about."</p><h2>Advertising looked like it was revered as a career back in the 1960s. What are perceptions of the industry like now?</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Views here we split down the middle. </p><p>We'll start with the middle. Ogilvy's Aversano told us: "In some ways, the perception hasn't changed at all. it is still viewed as an art practiced by the experienced few but in many ways with the advent of digital and the rise of the Super Bowl as advertising's day in the sun it has become the sport of many. There is far more scrutiny, awareness and thought put into what we do and how we do it."</p><p>VIA Agency's Leahy said: "Back then, the industry was deemed much more glamorous, like it was covered in fairy dust. It was the rock and roll of the business world. Today, it's viewed as less sexy ... However, companies used to think of advertising as a sales tool; today, they regard advertising as a true strategic imperative for business development. Advertising is now seen as a component for driving business growth, not just communication."</p><p>But with a polar opposite view, Myhren said: "Oddly, despite its horribly depressing plot lines and despicable characters, Mad Men has made advertising sexy again. They companies hope to find out if an ad on a smartphone can lead to brick-and-mortar purchases. Data on the products someone purchases using the <keyword id="53542" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="coupon">coupon</keyword> (found on L'Oreal's Pretty in my Pocket app) is then collected so that the company can gain consumer insights. The coupon program is facilitated by <strong>Sparkfly.</strong></p>
