<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=tinyowl&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">TinyOwl</a>, the online <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=food+ordering+apps&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">food ordering</a> firm, has halted its operations in all Indian cities besides Mumbai. In Mumbai also, it will be available in select areas. 
 <keyword id="3601251" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TinyOwl">TinyOwl</keyword>, in its official blog, stated that it was temporarily closed for service improvement. “We are committed to return with an even better product for you in the near future,” the blog stated. 
 
The Mumbai-based platform operates in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, Lucknow and Chandigarh. 
 
Recently, reportedly, TinyOwl was in news over its merger with hyperlocal logistics player Roadrunnr in an all-stock deal. 
 In the short term, TinyOwl will continue to operate its app in localities where order volumes are high, and phase out eventually to the new brand identity "<keyword id="3354183" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Runnr">Runnr</keyword>," a top executive had told ET. Runnr is expected to make its debut in coming weeks in Mumbai.

This is definitely fatal for your startup. If you are coming up with a product that’s already there in the market and have absolutely no or little innovation in it, you will fail. Consumers are always looking for new products or innovations in the existing ones. Hence, a product that is already available will be a waste of your resources. 
 
Not employee friendly

The food ordering startup handed a pink slip to many of its employees and what happened next was unimaginable. The employees, who were laid-off, held the co-founder of the company hostage for good two days. Do we need to say more about why you should be employee friendly? 
 
Taking shortcuts 
 
Lastly, remember there is no short cut to success. So, if you are adopting illicit ways of growing business or tweaking your way around the laws of the land, you may grow for a while but ultimately, you will end up paying a huge price.

5 Signs that your startup will fail

<keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword>, the online platform for restaurant discovery and food ordering, has finally achieved its operational break even in six countries. The company has achieved the success because of growth in core advertisement business and tighter financial controls. 
 
The countries in which break-even has been achieved are India, the UAE, Lebanon, Qatar, the Philippines and Indonesia. In totality, the Gurgaon-based company has operations in 23 countries. 
 "The biggest reason behind this is increase in revenues, which have doubled in the last four months," Zomato CEO <keyword id="476451" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepinder-Goyal">Deepinder Goyal</keyword> told ET. Another reason could be the significant decrease done by company in the burn rate, which was brought by tighter financial controls. 
 
Zomato, which also entered into the food delivery business in 2015, is doing 13,000 orders on an average a week of Rs 575 each. They are in direct competition with players like Rocket Internet's Foodpanda and local startups like Swiggy and TinyOwl.

Zomato achieves operational breakeven in six countries including India

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">Indian startups</a> have never seen better days. While some analysts argue the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">startup</a> bubble has burst with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=TinyOwl">TinyOwl</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Zomato">Zomato</a>, the truth is the country has attracted investors by the truckloads until very recently. Some of the world’s leading investors, the likes of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tiger+Global">Tiger Global</a> are increasingly interested in investing their billions into this ‘untapped’ economy. 
 
China is targeting a minimum growth rate of 6.5% per year until 2020. That’s the lowest it has seen since the late 1970s. 
 
A recent analysis by <a href="http://qz.com/538962/indian-startups-have-been-handed-an-incredible-opportunity-to-reach-new-investors/">Quartz</a> proves just that - India has been awarded an awesome opportunity. 
 
 
It would take a lot to close the gap between China and India. The former still takes the largest share of the VC money coming into Asia. However, the influx of Chinese e-commerce giant <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Alibaba">Alibaba</a>, Japan's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=SoftBank">SoftBank</a>, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Google+Capital">Google Capital</a> promises to give the Chinese a tough run for their money. 
 
 
However, the key point here is ‘long term’. With China’s economy showing signs of stagnancy, the trillion dollar question is if investors would turn their attention toward India in the long run. 
 
 
Mind, old habits die hard. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">Indian startups</a> surely need to dangle big carrots to keep investors hooked for long enough to gain preference over the Big Daddy of the Asian economy.

China’s loss maybe gain for Indian
Startups

India’s start up scene is gaining steam; all thanks to the some of the best think tanks of the country investing their money enthusiastically into start ups. Having funded a couple of start ups recently, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ratan+tata">Ratan Tata</a> is now investing in Holachef, a Mumbai-based food start up. 
 
Tata first invested in March 2014 in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Altaeros+Energies">Altaeros Energies</a>, a wind energy start-up founded by graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since then, he has funded quite a few start ups, including woman’s fashion portal, Kaaryah. 
 
Besides turning investor, Tata, is also an adviser to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kalaari+Capital+">Kalaari Capital</a> along with putting capital in some of its portfolio companies like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal">Snapdeal</a>, Urban Ladder, and BlueStone earlier. He typically invests small amounts - less than $1 million - in early-to-late stage ventures. 
 
A brain child of Saurabh Saxena, Holachef provides home cooked at affordable prices, all across Mumbai and Pune. Holachef had raised Series A funding of Rs 20 crore in a round led by Kalaari Capital in June this year. Holachef had raised a seed fund of Rs 2 crore from India Quotient in February 2015. 
 
Saurabh Saxena, Co-founder and CEO, confirmed about the funding and told Business Insider India, “With his(Ratan Tata) guidance, Holachef is sure to become a leader in the food-tech space, with customer delight at its core. By winning his trust, we have raised the bar of quality and excellence for ourselves.” 
 
Holachef has a couple of competitors in the market, including BiteClub, Eatlo and TinyOwl Homemade. Founded by Saurabh Saxena, Gelra and Ritu, this start up have both professional and amateur chefs in its platform.

There is a lot cooking in India’s online delivery sector. Recent months have seen a steady influx of newer players like Faasos and TinyOwl flocking in to grab a bite of India’s $15 billion food delivery market. The cherry on the top is that just 1% of the industry is online. 
 With segment leader <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> now delivering in Indian metros and varied opponents like Ola Café stepping in, the scuffle is far from over. “India is already amongst the top 5 markets for us globally. There is huge untapped potential in the market. We have just scratched the surface”, Saurabh Kochhar, Co-Founder and CEO (<keyword id="1666592" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Foodpanda">Foodpanda</keyword> India) and CBO (Global) says. 
 
Foodpanda is currently available in 40 countries across 5 continents. In India the service is present in over 200 cities. With huge clientele up for grabs, Kochhar believes Foodpanda sets itself apart. 
 
“It’s always stupid to close one’s eyes to competition. However, we’ve two things going for us – experience and DNA. We’ve painstakingly garnered these over the last few years. Our core business is food delivery. That’s what we do best”, he says. 
 
Answering questions about what separates chief rival Zomato from food delivery services Kochhar observes, “One’s preferences are very different when they dine out versus order at home. There it’s a mix of ambience, service and food. Here it’s just about the food. Therefore, while we have rankings, reviews and suggestions, they have very different dimensions from dining out. The core of our business is the delivery experience while that of Zomato’s is the restaurant experience.” 
 
Indian foodies have perpetually resorted to stacked up restaurant flyers and mobile phone directories to order food. When asked why they should change their old ways, only to be bogged down by minimum order amounts and delivery charges Kochhar maintains, “That’s the core advantage we bring to the table. While one may stack a few flyers, there are at least 50 complete with ratings on Foodpanda to choose from. We also offer so many deals, its more value for money than our customers can ask for.” 
 At present a mere 7-8% of India’s population on 3G. This means a further smaller number would be inclined to savvy enough to order food online. Kochhar however shrugs off the possible limiting factor. “This has been one of the biggest enablers for India’s <keyword id="35621" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="e-commerce">e-commerce</keyword> industry. We’ve the fastest growing internet population. The numbers are only increasing with the advent of 4G and improving data speeds. While some look at the remaining 80% as a problem, we see it as an opportunity. However, our biggest competition remains offline”, he says.

Why do some of us consider ourselves morning people (also known as larks) or night owls?The answer is simple: Everyone has a natural internal clock - a chronotype or circadian rhythm - that determines when they're most alert and most sleepy. That means that we're not all meant to be morning people. As chronobiologist Till Roenneberg explains in his book, "<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Internal-Time-Chronotypes-Social-Youre/dp/0674065859?tag=bisafetynet-20">Internal Time: Chronotypes, Social Jet Lag, and Why You're So Tired</a>," the internal factors determining when we like to wake up are primarily genetic. The biggest external factor is exposure to light, especially sunlight.Research into chronotypes helps explain why people have natural sleep patterns, how that changes throughout life, the differences in circadian rhythms between men and women, and what we can do to modify our schedules.<h2>What's my chronotype?</h2>Most of us think of ourselves as morning or night people, but those divisions aren't scientific - they're just ways of comparing ourselves to one another. "Where you define owl or lark is really arbitrary," says <a href="http://profiles.ucsd.edu/david.welsh">Dr. David Welsh</a>, an associate professor studying circadian clocks at UC San Diego. Welsh says that if you look at large surveys of populations, you get a normal distribution of chronotypes - most people have fairly "average" chronotypes, some prefer to get up a bit earlier or later, and small groups naturally rise extremely early or late. There's no line that distinguishes different chronotypes.Your chronotype is more than a feeling - it can be verified by measuring your body temperature and the levels of certain hormones in your blood at different times during the day, since those factors are regulated by our circadian clocks.According to most research on the topic, we have a genetic predisposition for a certain chronotype, but the genetic factors that cause some people to feel alert and productive earlier versus later are complex. A number of different genes are involved, many of which are <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27494321">still being discovered</a>. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>The broad range of human chronotypes also take several other variables into account. For most of their lives, men have slightly later chronotypes than women. And alongside preferences about when we go to bed, people also require different amounts of sleep. Most adults need between seven and nine hours, though some require slightly more or less, and a tiny number need far more or far less.Most of our internal clocks also don't match the 24-hour cycle of our planet. Instead, they tend to be a little longer than 24 hours (though some people's clocks are far longer or shorter). Those whose internal clocks run short tend to be early risers - sleep pressure builds up for them more quickly, pushing them to fall asleep earlier and rise with the sun.Roenneberg explains in his book that there might be an evolutionary explanation for why people have such varied body clocks. As humanity evolved, it was probably advantageous for some of us to be more alert at different times of day. That would have allowed members of groups to stay awake at night in order to watch for predators or hunt for food that was easier to catch in the dark. The changes our internal clocks undergo throughout our lifetimes could also be related to this evolutionary legacy. Chronotypes start early for young children, become later in adolescence, then get earlier again as we age. Roenneberg notes that the shift toward a later schedule among adolescents tends to coincide with the time of life at which humans peak in athletic ability - around 20. The most physically capable people are therefore also most comfortable staying awake through the night. (In general, night owls can keep working longer in tests that require staying awake for long periods of time.)Today, however, the observed chronotype changes that happen in teenagers have led many <a href="http://educationnext.org/do-schools-begin-too-early">sleep researchers to suggest</a> that high schools should simply start later. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div><h2>How do we reset the clock?</h2>Body clocks can be changed - when someone moves from Los Angeles to London, they eventually shift their schedule, after all - but only to a certain degree.
