Trade bodies of <keyword id="2981720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana-State-Road-Transport-Corporation">Telangana State Road Transport Corporation</keyword> (TSRTC) will challenge the state government's decision to sack about 48,000 agitating employees, as and when they are served with dismissal or suspension notices, a union leader said here on Monday. <keyword id="68884" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword> Mazdoor Union president E Ashwathama Reddy, however, clarified that the agitating workers have not received any dismissal or suspension notice from the government or the management of RTC. ".. There are laws in this country. We have been appointed as per rules. They cannot remove us just like that," Reddy told PTI. "There are courts. We will approach courts if necessary," he said. His statement comes a day after the state government declared the indefinite strike as "illegal" and rejected their demands for a merger with it. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had on Sunday said employees who did not join duty before the deadline (6 pm on Saturday) set by the government would not be taken back. "As it is there are less than 1,200 employees in the RTC," he had said indicating that those who have not reported for duty before the deadline, would be losing their jobs. Different employees' and workers' unions of the TSRTC began an indefinite strike on Friday midnight across Telangana on a call given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the corporation, demanding merger of the RTC with the government and recruitment to various posts, among other things. The stir by nearly 50,000 staff entered the third day on Monday with TSRTC buses staying off the roads hampering travel plans of thousands of people during the festive season. The chief minister had directed concerned officials to hire 2,500 private buses to make up for the shortfall of public transport. He also ordered that normal RTC operations be restored in 15 days. New employees should be hired soon and they should give an undertaking that they would not join any trade unions, he added. The Telangana High Court had directed the state government to file a report on October 10 about the arrangements made. It also ordered to serve notices on two RTC unions.

Telangana transport authority fires 48,000 workers without any suspension notice

New Delhi, Jan 23 () Terming delays in highway projects as "unacceptable", Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday asked officials and developers to strictly adhere to project schedules.
 Gadkari also launched online web portal 'GATI' on the pattern of 'PRAGATI', the portal used by the Prime Ministers' Officer for monitoring projects.
 "Delays in projects are unacceptable. Adhere strictly to project schedules," Gadkari told officials and developers, while reviewing Rs 3-lakh crore projects, including delayed ones.
 Any inter-ministerial issue holding up a project may be brought to the notice of the ministry for intervention to expedite resolution, Gadkari said.
 Projects from southern and central zones, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, were on review on Thursday.
 A total of 500 highway projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore are being taken up for review on Thursday and Friday with a view to fast-track them.
 Gadkari, along with Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways V K Singh, launched online web portal 'GATI', which has been created by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on the lines of PRAGATI.
 An official said "Gadkari will also personally monitor the projects".
 The portal 'GATI' can be accessed from NHAI's website, and contractors and concessionaires can raise any project-related issues on the platform, according to a statement by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
 "The issue will immediately come to the notice of everyone...HQ NHAI including top management, and immediate action will be taken by the concerned officer duly updating on the portal," it said.
 The issues raised on 'GATI' will be daily monitored by a team of NHAI officers and will be constantly reviewed by the senior officers of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the statement said.
 This will bring transparency and speed up the decision making in highway construction, it added.
 All developers, contractors and officers of NHAI are linked to the portal and it will help sharing of all project-related information for speedy implementation.
 The projects from northeastern states, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Ladakh, Haryana, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh will be reviewed Friday.
 The issues related to projects in northeastern states and under National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd have already been reviewed in a separate meeting held on January 7. NAM HRS

Wage revisions are too little, too late As many wonder about the state of their employment, others are annoyed with delayed wage revisions. As many as 20,000 workers and a few officers of Bangalore-headquartered Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) are protesting against low salary hikes. The company dismissed their demand for higher wage revision saying, "workmen cannot be at par with officers on salaries and perks.” “We hope this realization will percolate to the employees sooner to make them call off their indefinite strike," HAL Chief Financial Officer C B Ananthakrishnan told IANS. Employees of public sector banks — which employs nearly 800,000 people — also seem to be unhappy with the<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/salary-hikes-at-government-banks-ahead-of-diwali/articleshow/71473853.cms"> wage revision</a> as the bankers association decided to offer one month extra salary without reaching a consensus with the bank unions. They are expected to go on a strike on October 22. Interestingly, the wage revision was due since 2017 in both cases. State government employees lose jobs and hope The employees of state governments have their own set of problems. Over 49,000 <keyword id="2981720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana-State-Road-Transport-Corporation">Telangana State Road Transport Corporation</keyword> (TSRTC) employees have been on a 12-day long protest, demanding salaries for September. But, not just delayed payments, job loss is hurting the most vulnerable of employees. As many as 25,000 home guards in Uttar Pradesh police department <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/yogi-adityanath-govt-terminates-25000-up-police-home-guards-on-diwali-uttar-pradesh/story/384879.html">lost jobs</a> as the government could not afford to pay the salaries at par. And, the administration called it a ‘resource constraint.’ Abiding by the Supreme Court verdict, the department was liable to pay the increased salaries at ₹672 per day to the home guards — who are paid ₹500 as of now. But, it slashed the workforce to 65,000, in order to compensate for the hike. Over 2 million government employees are angry, anxious and dejected over salaries, hikes and job security

In the backdrop of less state transport buses and crumbling system, the road and transport ministry has sought a grant of Rs 2,500 crore in <keyword id="2783177" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2016">Budget 2016</keyword>. 
 
The ministry wants to double state transport buses and the issue might be taken up on a pari passu basis with an equal amount allocation from the respective states. 
 
It is worth mentioning that only 5 per cent of the country's population use state transport buses. 
 
The proposal also assumes significance in the wake of government mulling conversion of about 1.5 lakh diesel buses run by state transport corporations into electric buses. 
 
"We have 1.5 lakh buses of state road transport corporations. It is our effort to convert 1.5 lakh diesel buses into electric battery-operated buses which will reduce Rs 8 lakh crore bill on import of crude and petroleum and would also help in making India pollution free," said Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. 
 
Also, Gadkari wants an allocation for proposed Smart Mobility Through Intelligent and Legal Enforcement (SMILE) scheme. 
 
The ministry has sought Rs 800 crore allocation in Budget 2016. 
 
Under the proposal, the Centre is likely to include the commissionerates of police under its proposed SMILE scheme, which will help meet the infrastructural requirement of the states traffic police. 
 
The Ministry has proposed to include 10 cities of India under the SMILE project in first phase.

Road ministry wants Rs 2,500-crore annual grant in Budget 2016 for state road transport

New Delhi, Dec 3 () One97 Communications Ltd, which owns Paytm, on Tuesday said it has made a strategic investment in Rajkot-based bus ticketing solutions provider Infinity Transoft Solutions.
 While the company did not disclose investment details, sources close to the development said Paytm has pumped in upwards of Rs 10 crore.
Paytm entered the online bus ticketing space in 2015 and currently offers bus tickets across more than 62,000 routes through its integrations with more than 2,000 private bus operators. 
 It also offers online ticketing for state-run road transport corporations in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and others.
"We are excited to announce our strategic association with Infinity. This partnership will help us bolster our payments and ticketing technology solutions for bus operators and enable us to provide a more seamless booking and post booking experience to our growing base of online bus ticketing customers," Paytm Senior Vice President Abhishek Rajan said in a statement.
Founded in 2008 by Bhavesh Gadhethariya, Infinity provides fleet operations and inventory management software and technology solutions to bus operators, and cargo and logistics companies.
It also offers live vehicle tracking through GPS, travel booking platform for offline agents and in-bus entertainment system through its proprietary 'MagicBox' hardware and software solution. 
"With this investment, we will be able to rapidly develop travel-focussed tech products and expand our footprint pan-India. We aim to make bus operator profitable by using artificial intelligence, which will result into better operational efficiency and better facility will be provided to passengers," Infinity co-founder and Director Rajiv
