It was not the first time that he was arrested by the Telangana police. An emotional Revanth Reddy once said that he would never forget the fact that he was in jail when his daughter was getting married. Call him the product of a political witch-hunt if you will, but this win is the best vindication Revanth Reddy could have looked for. Sunday’s victory should heal some of Revanth Reddy’s hurt, who is now all set to be the next Chief Minister of the southern state. KCR, who contested from two seats this time round, was trailing Revanth Reddy in Kamareddy seat by more than a few thousand votes. Big celebrations were seen at the residence of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy's residence and party headquarters in Gandhi Bhavan, after the Election Commission data showed that Congress had won in India’s youngest state. Congress supporters were dancing amid drumbeats outside the residence of Reddy, a front-runner for the post of chief minister. He is currently serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Malkajgiri constituency in the 17th Lok Sabha. Early political career Born on November 8, 1967, in Kondareddy Palli, Mahbubnagar district, Telangana, Reddy's political journey began during his student days. His active involvement in student politics nurtured his passion for serving the community and advocating for the rights of the marginalised. His early political forays include contesting local body elections in 2006 and emerging victorious as a ZPTC member from Midjil mandal as an independent candidate. Reddy's political career gained momentum in 2007 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from the Hyderabad seat as an independent candidate. His independent spirit and ability to connect with the masses caught the attention of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu, leading to Reddy's induction into the TDP in 2008. His association with the TDP proved to be a turning point in his political trajectory. In 2009, he contested from Kodangal assembly constituency and won the election as a TDP candidate. His electoral success continued in 2014 when he retained his Kodangal assembly seat, cementing his position as a prominent political figure in Telangana. A shift in allegiance In 2017, a significant shift occurred in Reddy's political allegiance. Along with 12 other MLAs, he resigned from the TDP and joined the Indian National Congress (INC). This move was driven by ideological differences and a belief that the INC could better serve the interests of the people of Telangana. Reddy's decision to join the INC marked a new chapter in his political career. He contested the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Telangana_Legislative_Assembly_election">2018 Telangana Assembly elections</a> from Kodangal as a Congress candidate and lost to TRS candidate Patnam Narender Reddy. He contested from the same constituency in the 2019 general elections and emerged victorious, securing his place in the 17th Lok Sabha. In June 2021, Reddy was appointed as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), the party's state unit in Telangana. This responsibility entrusted him with spearheading the party's campaign in the 2023 Telangana <keyword id="6372146" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="assembly-elections" source="Orion">Assembly elections</keyword>. Beyond his political accomplishments, Reddy is also known for his active family life. He is married to Geetha, niece of former union minister Jaipal Reddy. The couple has a daughter, Nymisha. <keyword id="6354552" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyderabad">Hyderabad</keyword>, The health and police employees in Telangana will not only be paid full salary for March but will also get cash incentive in recognition for their efforts to check the spread of coronavirus. The decision to pay full salary and incentive to employees of the medical and health department and police personnel was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. <keyword id="199243" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrashekhar-Rao">Chandrashekhar Rao</keyword> late Wednesday night. The Chief Minister will announce the incentive in a day or two. The government has already announced salary cut for all its employees in the wake of the crisis triggered by spread of COVID-19 and resultant lockdown. The cut has been imposed according to grade and service cadres. The highest cut of 75 per cent was imposed on salaries of the Chief Minister, State cabinet, MLCs, MLAs, <keyword id="8983024" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-corporation-chairpersons">State Corporation Chairpersons</keyword>, and Representatives of Local Bodies representatives. <keyword id="625922" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="All-India-Services">All India Services</keyword> cadre employees such as IAS, IPS, IFS and other such Central services Officers stand to face the second highest cut of 60 per cent, while all other category of employees will see their salaries cut by 50 per cent. Salaries of Class IV, outsourced and contract employees will be cut by 10 per cent as per the government. Telangana will pay police in full with extra cash incentives even as civil servants pay is slashed

<ul><li>Millions of government employees across multiple state-owned companies are either anxious, ready to protest and have even taken to roads — to make sure they get their due. </li><li>Thousands of employees have taken to roads, protesting over delays. </li><li>As many as 25,000 home guards in Uttar Pradesh police department lost their jobs overnight. </li><li><keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword> (HAL) also dismissed the employees' demand for higher wage revision saying that "workmen cannot be at par with officers on salaries and perks.”</li></ul>During bad times, there is nothing like a secure job — even when you are employed with the government. As many as two millions government employees across multiple state-owned companies are either anxious, ready to protest and have even taken to roads — to make sure they get their due. This is extra pain on the Indian economy as millions of blue collar jobs have already been lost in the last few months — across auto, textile and diamond polishing sectors. Delayed salaries and job cuts The worst-affected of all government employees are the 176,000 at telecom operator BSNL. In the last few months, the debt-ridden company has been paying salaries two weeks late. While the government is still mulling a bailout package, the employees are left in doldrums. Another 20,000 employees of <keyword id="2573" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> are just as angry and anxious about their future. And, the government has already decided their fate — which is a sell-off. The pilots union has already told the government that they will go for mass resignations if the national carrier lands in the hands of a private entity — which is sure to downsize. Wage revisions are too little, too late As many wonder about the state of their employment, others are annoyed with delayed wage revisions. As many as 20,000 workers and a few officers of Bangalore-headquartered Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) are protesting against low salary hikes. The company dismissed their demand for higher wage revision saying, "workmen cannot be at par with officers on salaries and perks.” “We hope this realization will percolate to the employees sooner to make them call off their indefinite strike," HAL Chief Financial Officer C B Ananthakrishnan told IANS. Employees of public sector banks — which employs nearly 800,000 people — also seem to be unhappy with the<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/salary-hikes-at-government-banks-ahead-of-diwali/articleshow/71473853.cms"> wage revision</a> as the bankers association decided to offer one month extra salary without reaching a consensus with the bank unions. They are expected to go on a strike on October 22. Interestingly, the wage revision was due since 2017 in both cases. State government employees lose jobs and hope The employees of state governments have their own set of problems. Over 49,000 <keyword id="2981720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana-State-Road-Transport-Corporation">Telangana State Road Transport Corporation</keyword> (TSRTC) employees have been on a 12-day long protest, demanding salaries for September. But, not just delayed payments, job loss is hurting the most vulnerable of employees. As many as 25,000 home guards in Uttar Pradesh police department <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/yogi-adityanath-govt-terminates-25000-up-police-home-guards-on-diwali-uttar-pradesh/story/384879.html">lost jobs</a> as the government could not afford to pay the salaries at par. And, the administration called it a ‘resource constraint.’ Abiding by the Supreme Court verdict, the department was liable to pay the increased salaries at ₹672 per day to the home guards — who are paid ₹500 as of now. But, it slashed the workforce to 65,000, in order to compensate for the hike.
