The <keyword id="68884" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="telangana" source="Orion">Telangana</keyword> government has increased the <keyword id="6356212" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="liquor" source="Orion">liquor</keyword> prices by 20 to 25 per cent to mop up revenues. Prices of all brands of liquor were hiked and this is expected to help the government generate additional revenues of Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 7,000 crore annually. The state had earned Rs 30,000 crore from liquor sales in 2021-22 with the tax income reported at Rs 12,000 crore The authorities have increased the price of 1,000 ml liquor by Rs 120. The price has gone up to Rs 615 from Rs 495 earlier. The price of a quarter bottle has been hiked by Rs 20. On all types of beer, there was a minimum hike of Rs 10 per bottle. The new prices will come into effect from Thursday. The excise officials checked the liquor stocks at wine shops, bars and pubs on Wednesday night after the day's sales came to an end. The available stocks will be sold at new rates from Thursday. The liquor prices have been hiked for the first time since liquor policy 2021-23 came into effect. Liquor prices were last hiked in the state in May 2020 soon after the first phase of Covid-19 lockdown. This has come at a time when the state is facing a fund crunch to continue its welfare schemes as the Centre has tightened norms on loans and market borrowings. This is the latest in a series of measures taken by the state government to mop its revenues. It recently hiked market value of lands, property registration charges, bus fares and electricity charges. Telangana hikes liquor prices by 20-25% to increase state revenues

<ul><li>Skye Air Mobility has partnered with BlueDart Express to start <keyword id="6354474" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone" source="Orion">drone</keyword> delivery trials of healthcare items in <keyword id="68884" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="telangana" source="Orion">Telangana</keyword>.</li><li>The drone delivery trials will start tomorrow and continue until October 17.</li><li>These drones will carry and deliver medicines in boxes that weigh 2-3 kg.</li></ul>The Telangana government is scheduled to kick off drone delivery trials of medicines and Covid-19 vaccines from tomorrow onwards. The trial run will continue until October 17 and it will take place in Vikarabad. The project will be headed by drone delivery startup Skye Air Mobility in partnership with BlueDart Express for the deliveries. The project titled ‘Medicine From The Sky’ will mark the debut of trials for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/india-is-making-it-easier-to-buy-fly-and-sell-drones-with-these-16-policy-changes/articleshow/85649984.cms">drones</a> making Telangana the first state to do so. Its main purpose is to deliver vaccines and medicines in semi-urban and rural areas where road connectivity is difficult. The trials will take place in three phases, and continue for a little over a month until October 17. The first two days of the trial which is on September 9 and 10 will have the drones flying in the visual line of sight. This means that the drones will fly between 500 to 700 meters from the base, and they will be visible to the naked eye. Then from September 11 onwards, delivery trials for the BVLOS drone flights will take place. These drones will fly for 9-10 kms and will carry consignments of vaccines, medical samples and other health care items. In the initial stage of the trials, the drones will not carry Covid-19 vaccines but others, according to a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/trial-runs-for-delivering-vaccines-by-drones-kicks-off-tomorrow/articleshow/86032811.cms">report</a> by Times of India. The drones will take off from the Vikarabad District hospital carrying boxes that weigh 2-3 kg, the report added. The medicines will be delivered to health care centres that are located 500 metres away from the hospital. The drones will also fly at an altitude of up to 400 feet. Telangana to be the first Indian state to begin drone delivery trials for COVID-19 vaccines, medicines starting tomorrow

Concerned over the spike in Covid-19 cases, the <keyword id="541763" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana-Government">Telangana government</keyword> on Tuesday announced that it is temporarily shutting down the schools from Wednesday. Education Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy made the announcement in the <keyword id="6354702" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="assembly">Assembly</keyword>. She said the government decided to shut down the schools in the interest of the health of students and teachers and also keeping in view the requests from the parents. The minister said the decision was taken as a measure to prevent the spread of Covid. The orders will apply to all government and private educational institutions, hostels and <keyword id="1103013" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="residential-schools">residential schools</keyword>. Indra Reddy said the online classes will be conducted for students. She noted that Covid cases are on the rise across the country and there is a surge in cases in <keyword id="68884" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>'s neighbouring states. Covid cases were detected in some schools in the state. She pointed out that states like <keyword id="413944" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar">Uttar</keyword> Pradesh, <keyword id="6355554" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword>, <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and <keyword id="43945" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> have already closed the schools. Parents of students in Telangana were also worried over the situation and the government received the requests to shut the schools. More than 200 students, teachers and other staff of various residential schools in Telangana tested positive for Covid over last one week. Schools for classes 6 and above reopened in the last week of February while classes 9 and above reopened on February 1.
