Tata Sky Theatre was launched at a monthly subscription price of ₹75 and is still in its initial phases. "This is just the beginning. We are taking baby steps now. Tata Sky's latest offering may bring a new lease of life for local Indian theatre

Since 2014, the DTH category has begun focusing on small towns and villages in India, and these are markets where the demand for bite-size consumption exists. <keyword id="94550" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sky">Tata Sky</keyword>, a DTH service provider in India has introduced the 'Daily Recharge,' voucher empowering subscribers to pay only for the days they watched TV. This concept allows a minimum recharge value starting at Rs.8/-, making it the smallest denomination of recharge voucher in the television viewing sector globally. 
 
Available as a scratch coupon, the recharge is also available in higher denominations of Rs. 10, 20, 50 and 100 and will be effective for a maximum of 24 hours, midnight-to-midnight. These cards will be available even at general stores and small kiosks, including grocery (kirana) stores, across the country. 
 
For such a unique product the campaign also had to be innovative. What the company had to achieve was a behavioral shift, hence they went beyond the 30 second format of TV advertising as it would have left the consumers with a new piece of information but would have failed at engaging them. The challenge here was to amplify the everyday usage of the brand and thus the benefits associated with it.

Moreover, with digitization phase III still a year away, this plan should help accelerate acceptance of DTH sector in India. 
 
This innovation by Tata Sky puts the subscriber in control of his/her TV viewing expenses. There are a substantial number of subscribers who pay a monthly charge, but for some reason or another are unable to view TV on a daily basis. Tata Sky Tells A New Love Story, Which Unfolds Everyday!

The Tata co-owned DTH company has shelved plans for an initial public offering (<keyword id="6354763" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO">IPO</keyword>). Having run in to high debts it is now planning to raise Rs 1,800 crore ($300 million) from <keyword id="34499" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-equity">private equity</keyword> firms. 
 As per a news report in The Economic Times, Tata Sky had planned to list the venture and raise Rs 2,000 crore by selling 25% stake in 2013. It had even shortlisted investment banks <keyword id="44473" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Citigroup">Citigroup</keyword> Capital Markets, <keyword id="48670" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Morgan-Stanley">Morgan Stanley</keyword> India <keyword id="45369" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="equities">Equities</keyword> and <keyword id="196980" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kotak-Mahindra-Capital-Co">Kotak Mahindra Capital Co</keyword> to manage the issue. 
 From a reliable source, the ET has learnt, Citi and Morgan Stanley have been retained but now the mandate is to raise PE <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword>. The company has been bleeding under high debt and slower sales pick-up, and has revised its valuation expectations after the bankers didn't get initial demand from global institutional investors. 
ET could not independently verify these names. Confirming that the company has shelved its listing plans, Harit Nagpal, chief executive officer of Tata Sky in an SMS response said: "All our cash requirements have been and will continue to be met by existing shareholders." 
Data from Capitaline shows that in 2013-14, at a standalone basis, the company made a loss of Rs 280.4 crore on net sales of Rs 3,023.2 crore compared with a net loss of Rs 378.9 crore on sales of Rs 2,286 crore recorded in the previous fiscal. Finacials for FY15 were not available. 
 
In comparison, Dish TV, Asia's largest direct-to-home service operator, has a market capitalisation ofRs 10,319.56 crore. In FY14-15, it clocked Rs 2,781.64 crore of revenues and a Rs 796-crore EBITDA and aRs 1.01-crore net profit on a consolidated basis. 
 <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata Group</keyword> holds 60% stake in Tata Sky along with <keyword id="57162" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rupert-Murdoch">Rupert Murdoch</keyword>'s 21st Century Fox owning around 30% stake. PE firm <keyword id="6367519" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Temasek">Temasek</keyword>, through its arm <keyword id="1675260" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bay-Tree-Investments">Bay Tree Investments</keyword> and <keyword id="645978" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Opportunities-Fund">Tata Opportunities Fund</keyword> (TOF) holds the residual stake in the company.

There’s been a lot of talk about how the cable industry would survive the onslaught on online content but Nagpal believes that the cable television in India doesn’t face much competition from Over The Top (OTT) services. He hopes that the marriage between the two platforms will also help in that regard, especially since their hybrid device, the new set-top box, will provide more options than watching conventional TV channels. Not the first Tata Sky won’t be the first cable company to embark on such an endeavour. Speaking of basic Wi-Fi connectivity, <keyword id="124187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Videocon-D2H">Videocon D2H</keyword> has their own <a href="https://www.videocond2h.com/news-details.php?id=131">Wi-Fi SMART HD</a> set-top box that allows users to surf the internet while providing access to selected apps like Daily Motion and Twitter. Either way, the innovative edge of Tata Sky will be defined not by providing OTT services on their platform, but by how they go about achieving such a feat.

Nearly Rs 1,000-crore worth stock of <keyword id="6357585" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Consultancy-Services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (<keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword>) are owned by the fired chairman of <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword>, according to a report by software major's annual. Mistry also owns some percentage in the other companies of the group like <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>, Indian Hotels, Tata Global, <keyword id="6354310" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Chemicals">Tata Chemicals</keyword> and <keyword id="45008" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Power">Tata Power</keyword>, the report added. Regardless of him being fired as the chairman of Tata Sons, he still is the Chairman of these companies along with some others too. 
 
The stocks that are owned by Mistry is in addition to the 18.5% stake that his family group- Shapoorji Pallonji (SP) Group- owns in Tata Sons. The worth of SP Group’s holding on 1st November was Rs 81,140 crore. 
 SP group also holds Rs 63,158 crore worth of stakes in TCS too and that is a little over three fourth of the total company. The family group of Mr. Mistry also hold a substantial stock like Rs 7,983 crore worth stakes in Tata Motors, RS 1,500 crore worth stakes in Tata Communication, Rs 2,279 worth stakes in <keyword id="237814" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Steels">Tata Steels</keyword>, 1,281 crore, Rs 1,281 crore worth stakes in Titan and Rs 1,234 crore worth stakes in Tata Power. 
 
Other than the direct holding in 15 listed companies, Tata Sons has an indirect control over many other companies in which it holds stakes through other companies.

Cyrus Mistry owns Rs 1,000 crore worth TCS shares

Targeting more sales in a span of two years, Chinese telecom gear maker <keyword id="110306" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Huawei-Technologies">Huawei Technologies</keyword> would manufactures its enterprise products at its Chennai plant. The company's India enterprise business revenue increased almost by 50% during the last financial year, thus it eyes a 10-fold jump in the revenue by March 2017. 
 
"We expect revenues to reach $300 million in the next two years. Once we hit the $100-million mark, we would start manufacturing enterprise products in India itself," Kent Tang Kai, sales director-north region, Enterprise Business Department, Huawei, told the Economic Times. 
 
Presently, the Chennai facility is being used to make telecom network equipment for the Indian market. 
 
Kai said the company's business revenue grew 48% during the last financial year to $30 million in India. Its overall revenue from the South Asian nation stood at $1 billion, and the company expects to double its overall revenue to $2 billion by 2016-17. 
 
Moreover, Huawei is targeting internet service providers/telcos, energy, transportation, media, BFSI, and education verticals for its enterprise solutions and services in India. 
 It has around 30 enterprise customers in India, including DEN Networks, Hathway, QTel, <keyword id="6377547" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Adidas">Adidas</keyword>, Taj Hotel, <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> and <keyword id="94550" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tata-Sky">Tata Sky</keyword>, and competes with the likes of Cisco, Juniper, EMC and <keyword id="6367983" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HP">HP</keyword>. 
 
Huawei, through its enterprise division, is also targeting the country's 100 Smart Cities and Digital India projects, and is currently in talks with state and central governments along with private companies for tie-ups.

Zee launches Zee Plex, its ‘Cinema2Home’ service

Finally! Not the re-runs but some new shows to watch on the telly, which will air right after they are relayed in the US. Star India network has brought to life a new channel that many youngsters and American TV watchers are appreciating in India. At the moment, the new TV channel is only available on the <keyword id="94550" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Tata-Sky">Tata Sky</keyword> network to their HD users. The viewers need to pay a premium of Rs 60 per month, along with the existing package and HD charges. Users can also pay an annual charge of Rs 500 for the channel. 
 New shows like Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The <keyword id="238148" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Michael-J-Fox">Michael J. Fox</keyword> Show, The Blacklist and The Goldbergs, along with new seasons of Homeland, Castle, Revenge, <keyword id="543198" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="white-collar">White Collar</keyword>, <keyword id="828465" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="Modern-Family">Modern Family</keyword> and <keyword id="6483447" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Simpsons">The Simpsons</keyword> will be aired on this channel. In total, 26 latest episodes of new and returning shows will be transmitted. A move like this from the Star Network shows the popularity and demand for new international content. Also, the younger generation wants to move away from the usual saas-bahu and rona-dhona soaps, and are maturing to the international content. 
 As more and more homes get access to DTH systems across India and the wave of cable digitisation sweeps the nation, additional channels like the <keyword id="148199" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="star-world">Star World</keyword> Premiere HD might just emerge. This shift spells a win-win for the viewers and the broadcaster. But until the broadcaster gets a big bunch of spectators, current audience might have to pay a larger sum to access channels like Star World Premiere HD.

New Delhi, Feb 19 () Tata group firm Nelco and Panasonic Avionics Corporation on Wednesday announced forging a partnership for offering in-flight broadband service in Indian skies, starting with Vistara airlines.Vistara is a joint venture of Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. The launch of this service will enable passengers to access broadband service during their flight in Indian airspace. "We are delighted that Nelco is spearheading in providing the long awaited Aero in-flight connectivity services in the country. Vistara is the first airline to sign up for this service," Nelco MD and CEO P J Nath said while launching the service. He further said that the company has partnered with subsidiary of Panasonic Avionics Corporation in this regard. PRS MKJ

A statement by the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow said that the reputed institute has achieved 100% final placement for its 30th batch of 446 students in just over three days. 
 
Sales and marketing (25%), Finance (22%), Consulting (21%) And Business Development were the top four segments in the recruitment drive, based on roles offered by the companies. 
 
Over 160 domestic and international recruiters attended the drive, said the release, with the highlight being esteemed firms like Alvarez &amp; Marsal, BlackRock, Advisors, MasterCard and o3 Capital. This has marked the rise of IIM-Lucknow as a preferred recruitment destination for the roles of marketing, finance and consulting. 
 
Companies like Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, Avendus, Flipkart, Hindustan Unilever, P&amp;G, TAS and The Boston Consulting Group were amongst the top recruiters, as per the release. 
 
Companies recruiting for the first time were Avalon Consulting, BMW Group, Kotak Investments and Tata Sky, while there were also some international profiles that were offered by Equirus Capital and Olam International.
