<keyword id="19923700" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Power" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Power" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Tata Power">Tata Power</keyword> on Tuesday said it has logged 31 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,189 crore, compared to the year-ago period, on back of operational efficiency. "At Rs 1,189 crore, growing 31 per cent YoY (year-on-year), the company reported its highest ever and 19th consecutive quarter of PAT growth on the back of strong operational performance and execution excellence across all its businesses of generation, transmission &amp; distribution, and renewables," Tata Power said in a statement. According to the statement, these businesses contributed 84 per cent of the PAT (net profit) in Q1FY25, compared to 72 per cent in the same period in FY24. The statement showed that the consolidated net profit before exceptional items was Rs 906 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2023. The company's revenue rose 12 per cent YoY to a record high of Rs 16,810 crore (from Rs 15,003 crore in Q1 FY24), and EBITDA grew 11 per cent to Rs 3,350 crore in the reported quarter (from Rs 3,005 crore in Q1 FY24). EBITDA refers to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. "All our businesses have grown profitably on the back of operational efficiency, execution excellence, and sustained business momentum," said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power. He informed that the planned capex for this financial year is Rs 20,000 crore and the company is committed to adopting and leading the new and emerging clean energy technologies, including pumped hydro projects, hydropower projects in Bhutan, and opportunities to develop small modular nuclear reactors as the government policy evolves. The company has recorded a capex investment of Rs 4,000 crore in Q1FY25. It has a clean and green installed capacity of 6.1 GW as of Q1FY25, accounting for 41 per cent of the capacity, with another 5.3 GW under execution. The combined order pipeline for utility-scale EPC and solar rooftop, including group captive, is Rs 15,500 crore. Tata Power is poised to garner 20 per cent market share in the residential rooftop segment on the back of its new solar manufacturing facility and strong pan-India channel partner network, it said. Tata Power net profit up 31% to ₹1,189 crore in June quarter

Mining conglomerate <keyword id="19919721" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vedanta" source="keywords">Vedanta</keyword> Ltd on Tuesday reported 36.5 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,606 crore for June quarter FY25 due to improved margins and robust cost reduction across all operations. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,640 crore in the year-ago period. Income rose to Rs 36,698 crore over Rs 34,279 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Vedanta said in a statement that the proposed demerger of its businesses is on track and it has already filed the demerger scheme with NCLT after getting a nod from secured creditors. The company said that its board has approved a capex investment of USD 270 million for its oil and gas business. "The strategic priority for the Cairn Oil &amp; Gas business is to augment reserves and increase near term volume through infill wells and enhanced oil recovery. In order to deliver this, the Board has approved capex investment (net) of USD 270 million across fields in the Rajasthan block for drilling wells and construction of surface facility for ASP ( Alkaline Surfactant Polymer) injection," the company said in a separate filing. Vedanta Executive Director Arun Misra said that the company has delivered a strong start to the year, with exceptional EBITDA improvement of 47 per cent and PAT improvement by 54 per cent year-over-year on the back of improved margins, and robust cost reduction across all operations. "Our aluminium and zinc divisions continue to outperform industry benchmarks, consistently ranking in the top quartiles and deciles of the global cost curve. These achievements are a direct result of our strategic focus on cost, as reflected in a 20 per cent year-over-year reduction in overall cost," he said. The company's growth projects are well on track and it remains committed to commission the majority of these projects in FY25. "Moving ahead, our focus on operational efficiency, sustained expansion, and ESG excellence will guide our journey. With this dedication, we are confident in our ability to create substantial shareholder value in the year ahead," he added. Last month, the mining conglomerate raised Rs 8,500 crore (over USD 1 billion) through Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of 19.31 crore equity shares at an issue price of Rs 440 per share. Company's CFO Ajay Goel said, "The overwhelming response to the Vedanta's... QIP...underscores investors' huge confidence. The proceeds from the QIP will be further instrumental in deleveraging the balance sheet and reduction of finance costs. We have received all the requisite approvals and have filed the demerger scheme with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) taking our demerger a step closer to reality." The company's gross debt stood at Rs 78,016 crore as on June 30, 2024. Vedanta Q1 profit surges 37% to ₹3,606 crore on improved margins

The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,496.04 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,19,986.31 crore, as compared to Rs 1,05,932.35 crore in the year-ago period. In <keyword id="20028449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q4" source="keywords">Q4</keyword> FY24, Tata Motors said all three auto businesses delivered strong performance. The company's British arm Jaguar Land Rover had "another record-breaking quarter in Q4 FY24. Revenue for the quarter was 7.9 billion pounds, up 11 per cent versus Q4 FY23", Tata Motors said. JLR's Profit After Tax (PAT) in Q4 was 1.4 billion pounds as against a profit of 259 million pounds in the same quarter a year ago, it added. The Board of Directors have recommended a final dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share and a special dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share subject to approval by the shareholders. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated net profit was at Rs 31,806.75 crore as compared to Rs 2,689.87 crore in the previous fiscal, the company said. In FY24, total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,37,927.77 crore as compared to Rs 3,45,966.97 crore in FY23. <keyword id="20430970" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors-group" source="keywords">Tata Motors Group</keyword> Chief Financial Officer, PB Balaji said in FY24 the Tata Motors Group delivered its highest-ever revenues, profits, and free cash flows. "The India business is now debt-free, and we are on track to become net automotive debt-free on a consolidated basis in FY25. The businesses are executing well on their distinct strategies and therefore, we are confident of sustaining this strong performance in the coming years," he added. JLR's revenues for FY24 were 29 billion pounds, its highest-ever full-year revenue and up 27 per cent compared to the prior year, while PAT for FY24 was 2.6 billion pounds. "We have delivered a record financial performance for the company, generating free cash flow of 2.3 billion pound, enabling us to reduce net debt to 0.7 billion pound," JLR Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mardell said. The foundation of this performance was the sustained global demand for JLR's modern luxury vehicles, led by Range Rover and Defender brands, underpinned by a consistent focus on operational improvement, he added. Tata Commercial Vehicles' Q4 FY24 revenue was at Rs 21,600 crore, while FY24 revenue was Rs 78,800 crore. In Q4 FY24, domestic wholesale commercial vehicles (CV) volumes were 1,04,600 units, lower 7 per cent year-on-year on account of increased pre-buy in Q4 FY23 due to BS6 Phase II transition, the company said. Tata Motors Ltd Executive Director Girish Wagh said the Indian CV industry grew by a modest 2 per cent in volumes during FY24, impacted by a high base effect of FY23, elections held across five states and the announcement of general elections. "Our sharp focus on profitable growth resulted in the CV business recording its highest-ever revenues of Rs 78,800 crore and profits of Rs 6,100 crore in FY24. Going forward, we will intensify our efforts to grow market share, profitably and consistently, in every business segment by delivering more value to customers with innovative products, smarter services and holistic mobility solutions," he added. Tata Passenger Vehicles clocked revenue of Rs 14,400 crore in Q4 while for the full year FY24 it was at Rs 52,400 crore. In Q4, Passenger Vehicle (PV) volumes were at 1,55,600 units, up 14.8 per cent from the year-ago period, supported by new SUV facelifts and multiple power trains, the company said. "Passenger vehicle sales in India set a record in FY24 with over 4.2 million units sold, driven by SUVs (50 per cent of overall sales) and emission-friendly powertrains. Tata Motors recorded its third consecutive year of highest sales volumes with 6 per cent growth in wholesales and 10 per cent in retail sales over FY23," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. The company sold 73,800 EVs during the year, marking a 48 per cent increase as compared to FY23 and crossed a milestone of 1.5 lakh cumulative EV production, he added. Tata Motors Q4 consolidated net profit jumps over 3-fold at ₹17,528.59 crore

Tata Motors posts net profit of ₹3,203 cr in Q1 on improved JLR performance

Coal India Limited (<keyword id="19983407" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CIL" source="keywords">CIL</keyword>) achieved an 8 per cent <keyword id="19910261" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="growth" source="keywords">growth</keyword> in <keyword id="19922489" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coal-production" source="keywords">coal production</keyword>, reaching 189.3 million <keyword id="22246379" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tonnes" source="keywords">tonnes</keyword> in the first quarter of the current fiscal, surpassing its target of 189.2 million tonnes, the company said in a statement on Monday. The company's production increased by 13.8 million tonnes compared to the corresponding quarter of FY'24, with all seven producing subsidiaries registering positive growth, it said. CIL's supplies also rose by 6 per cent to 198.4 million tonnes during April-June 2024, with a significant increase in supplies to both power and non-power sectors, it added. The company's coal loading witnessed healthy growth, with an average of 367.2 rakes per day, a 10.3 per cent year-on-year increase, it said. Higher production and loading resulted in a substantial increase in coal inventory at CIL's pitheads, reaching 81.5 million tonnes, providing a sufficient buffer to meet any sudden surge in demand, it said. At a time when power demand in the country is surging, the miner stepped up its supplies to coal-fired plants, registering a 4 per cent growth to 160 million tonnes in <keyword id="20501879" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q1" source="keywords">Q1</keyword> FY'25, a year-on-year increase of 6 million tonnes. In the same period of FY 2024, CIL's off-take to thermal power plants stood at 154 million tonnes, the company said. Additionally, CIL's supplies to the non-power sector reached an all-time high of 38.4 million tonnes in Q1FY25, logging a 16 per cent growth. This sector had received 33 million tonnes in April-June 2023. The growth in June 2024 alone was 23 per cent at 13.4 million tonnes, the statement said. Coal India's Q1 production surges 8% to 189.3 million tonne in FY'25

In the fourth quarter the unitary cooling products business segment revenue grew by 44 per cent to Rs 2,955 crore as compared to Rs 2,049 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year on account of a better product mix enhancement approach, the company said. The engineering products and services division clocked revenue of Rs 156 crore as compared to Rs 142 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Voltas net profit declines 22% YoY to ₹110.64 crore in Q4 FY24

The stock went up 5.73 per cent to Rs 2,121.30 on the BSE. On the NSE, it climbed 6.32 per cent to Rs 2,123. TVS Motor Company on Wednesday said its net profit increased 15 per cent to Rs 387 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2024, riding on robust sales. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 336 crore in the January-March period of the previous fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 10,042 crore in the period under review compared with Rs 8,031 crore in the fourth quarter of FY23. In the fourth quarter, the company said its overall <keyword id="19948209" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler" source="keywords">two-wheeler</keyword> and three-wheeler sales, including exports, grew by 22 per cent to 10.63 lakh units compared to 8.68 lakh units in the same period of the 2022-23 fiscal. For the year ended on March 31, 2024, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,686 crore as against Rs 1,329 crore a year ago. TVS Motor shares climb over 6% after March quarter earnings

The demand for office spaces during the first quarter of 2024 has been strong, registering total leasing of 13.6 million square feet across the top six cities. It is a remarkable 35 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to professional services and investment management company Colliers. Although this is a significant drop from the record office space take-up in the last quarter of 2023, the remarkable annual increase is indicative of upbeat occupier sentiment, given the fact that the first quarter is typically slower, Colliers said in a report. Bengaluru and <keyword id="19900176" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="keywords">Hyderabad</keyword> emerged as frontrunners for demand of Grade A office space in the first quarter of 2024, cumulatively accounting for more than half of the <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> leasing activity. The office market of Hyderabad saw 2.2x space uptake in Q1 2024 as compared to the corresponding quarter last year. This demand was driven by healthcare and pharma and technology sectors. Amongst other major office markets, Mumbai too experienced a notable surge in leasing activity, an impressive 90 per cent yearly rise in Q1 2024. With demand outpacing supply, average rentals saw up to 8 per cent uptick on a yearly basis across most of the major markets. Office space leasing in India off to a strong start in Q1-2024

Its net profit was Rs 507 crore in the January-March period of the preceding 2022-23, the company said in an exchange filing. During the fourth quarter of FY24, the company's total income fell to Rs 2,806 crore from Rs 2,977 crore a year ago. The company's expenses surged to Rs 2,379 crore during the period under review, as against Rs 2,053 crore in the year-ago period. In a separate statement, the company said its operational capacity grew at 35 per cent year-on-year to 10,934 MW with greenfield addition of 2,848 MW renewable capacity, including 2,418 MW solar and 430 MW wind projects. With this, AGEL became the first company in India to cross the 10,000 MW <keyword id="19895602" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="renewable-energy" source="keywords">renewable energy</keyword> capacity. AGEL's 10,934 MW operational portfolio will power more than 5.8 million homes and avoid about 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The sale of energy increased 47 per cent year-on-year to 21,806 million units in FY24, primarily backed by strong capacity addition, consistent solar CUF (capacity utilisation factor) and improved wind and hybrid CUF. The revenue from power supply rose 23 per cent to Rs 1,575 crore from Rs 1,941 crore earlier. <keyword id="19919864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani-Green-Energy" source="keywords">Adani Green Energy</keyword> Ltd Chief Executive Officer Amit Singh said, "We have deployed the first 2 GW of the 30 GW of renewable capacity under construction at Khavda in just 12 months of breaking ground. "Our highest capacity addition of 2.8 GW in FY24 demonstrates our strong execution capabilities, and we are confident of continuing the momentum." The company aims to commission at least 5 GW of hydro-pumped storage projects by 2030, and set a higher target of 50 GW RE capacity by 2030, which will contribute towards India's non-fossil fuel capacity target of 500 GW, he said. AGEL further said it has commenced construction work on its first hydro pumped storage project (PSP) of 500 MW on the Chitravathi river. The project is located at Peddakotla in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh. The existing reservoir will act as the lower reservoir and the upper reservoir is to be developed. The generation capacity will be 500 MW with estimated 6.2 generation hours in a day. All necessary approvals, including the final DPR approval are in place and financial closure has been achieved for the project. Adani Green Energy Q4 net profit declines 39 pc to Rs 310 cr due to rising expenses

The company had posted a consolidated profit of Rs 2,454 crore in the year-ago period, <keyword id="20129733" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindalco" source="keywords">Hindalco</keyword> Industries said in a regulatory filing. In a statement, the company said the consolidated PAT in the first quarter of FY'25 was Rs 3,074 crore, compared to Rs 2,454 crore in Q1 FY24, up by 25 % year-on-year (YoY)." Total income during the quarter under review rose to Rs 57,437 crore, over Rs 53,382 crore noted in the year-ago period. The consolidated revenue for the first quarter stood at Rs 57,013 crore, up 8% YoY, on account of better realisations and efficiencies in India operations. "Hindalco reported an <keyword id="19957744" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EBITDA" source="keywords">EBITDA</keyword> of Rs 7,992 crore (vs Rs 6,109 crore in Q1FY24) in Q1 FY25, up 31% YoY, driven by lower input costs and higher volumes," the statement said. "Our strong Q1 results ride on the back of consistent operational excellence and cost optimisation which allowed us to leverage the higher average metal prices. "The <keyword id="20076812" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="copper" source="keywords">copper</keyword> business achieved its highest quarterly EBITDA driven by high domestic sales (especially downstream products), healthy by-product credits and better operational efficiencies following a successful planned shutdown," Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries said. The <keyword id="20472150" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aluminium" source="keywords">Aluminium</keyword> India upstream business recorded an 81% growth in EBITDA over the previous year, he said. "Looking ahead, the major capital formation phase of the downstream business is near completion, and from here on, we will explore growth opportunities in the upstream business, given our strong cash position," he explained. The company said its copper business delivered a new record-breaking performance in the first quarter, with EBITDA at an all-time high of Rs 805 crore, up 52% YoY, backed by higher average copper prices and robust operations. Hindalco Q1 profit rises 25% Rs 3,074 crore on operational efficiencies, lower input costs

It had posted a net profit of ₹ 1.34 crore in the corresponding period of 2022-23, the company said in a regulatory filing. The total income also increased to ₹ 1,043 crore from ₹ 991.32 crore in the year-ago quarter. Expenses soared to ₹ 1,039.62 crore in the first quarter of FY24, as against ₹ 989.21 crore a year ago. In a separate statement, company's MD and CEO N Venu said: "We remain focused on balancing our operational complexity and efficiencies to preserve the growth momentum. "While persistent delays in chips and electronics led to lower revenue in the quarter, sustained operational excellence efforts provide visibility in the near-term." In the quarter ending June 30, 2023, the company received orders worth ₹ 1,147.5 crore, up 6 %year-on-year (y-o-y). Hitachi Energy India June quarter net profit jumps 80% on higher income

New Delhi, <keyword id="7636498" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Consumer-Products" source="Orion">Tata Consumer Products</keyword> Ltd (TCPL) on Wednesday reported a 29.67 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 358.57 crore in the first quarter ended June 30 on the back of a strong growth in its domestic business. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 276.51 crore in the April-June quarter a year ago, TCPL, earlier known as Tata Global Beverages Ltd, said in a BSE filing. Its revenue from operations was up 12.45 per cent to Rs 3,741.21 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 3,326.83 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal. "Revenue from operations increased by 12 per cent as compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, mainly driven by strong growth of 16 per cent in India business, 3 per cent in international business and 5 per cent in non-branded business," TCPL said in an earnings statement. The "profit before exceptional items and tax at Rs 495 crore is higher by 23 per cent reflecting strong growth in the India branded business and improved performance in international and non-branded business," it said. Total expenses of the Tata Group FMCG arm stood at Rs 3,304.36 crore, up 11.68 per cent in the first quarter of the current fiscal compared to the year-ago period. TCPL's total income in the June quarter was at Rs 3,798.96 crore, up 12.99 per cent. In the June quarter, TCPL's overall branded business was up 13.11 per cent to Rs 3,372.75 crore. It was at Rs 2,981.82 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. TCPL's branded businesses include tea, coffee, water and other various value-added business. Its revenue from the Indian market in the branded business was at Rs 2,477.93 crore, up 15.51 per cent. In the coffee segment, it continued the strong performance with a revenue growth of 21 per cent in the domestic market. "For the quarter, the India foods business delivered 24 per cent revenue growth and 6 per cent volume growth," the company said. Revenue from its non-branded business, which includes plantation and extraction business for tea and coffee, was at Rs 377.05 crore, up 7.2 per cent in the June quarter. Tata Starbucks -- a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Consumer Products Ltd and Starbucks Corporation -- also recorded "strong revenue growth" of 21 per cent in the June quarter. TCPL Managing Director &amp; CEO Sunil D'Souza said that during the June quarter, it saw positive results from the interventions put in place for the branded tea business, which grew volumes for the second consecutive quarter. "We continue to maintain volume growth momentum in Salt, despite the pricing actions taken earlier to manage inflation," he added. Cooling raw material prices will help. </li><li>Demand for staples have been stable, but the beauty and personal care category has not yet recovered fully. </li><li>The summer has seen a decline or low growth in ice creams and juices due to unseasonal rains. </li></ul>With cooling raw material costs, the FMCG sector is expected to kick in the first quarter of FY24 with ‘good quality’ profits, backed by improvement in margins. Input costs have been cooling over the last few quarters and have either remained stable or seen mild moderation, and companies have not been passing them off very generously in the form of price cuts. “We expect most of the companies to register stronger sequential gross profit margin (GPM) improvement in 1Q24F with input cost inflation cooling down further, high-priced inventory getting consumed and the full effect of earlier-taken price hikes playing out,” said a research report by Nomura. Certain categories such as hair oils, edible oils and soaps had witnessed price cuts in earlier quarters, which will flow through in the first quarter, as per BNP Paribas. Also, new price cuts and promotions were seen in laundry, edible oils and other home care categories during the quarter but no major price cuts were seen in biscuits and salts. Double digit revenue growth expected Price cuts and volume growth for the sector are directly proportional for the sector, and as of now most of growth seen in the sector was pricing-led. But that’s changing, analysts say. Demand from urban areas has been stable, with slight sequential improvement in rural demand as well. Also, the demand for staples have been stable, but the beauty and personal care category has not yet recovered though improving due to the price cuts. All in all, the sector should be able to present a good revenue growth for the quarter – notwithstanding the cooler summer this April-June with unseasonal rains that affected sales of juices and ice creams. “We estimate staples/discretionary (ex-ITC) pack to register 10.2%/8.8% revenue growth. We expect a good quarter from Nestle, Godrej Consumers and ITC and a weak print from Marico,” says a report by Kotak. Antique Stock Broking also expects the FMCG sector (not including ITC) to report early double digit revenue growth with moderation in pricing led growth. ITC is expected to see a fall in revenue as its agri business is expected to see a drop due to high-base effects. Nomura expects Nestle, Tata Consumers and Dabur to report the highest revenue growth YoY, and with ITC and Marico to post lower value growth. as analysts believe that the sector is poised for a good show in the first half of FY24 with a raw material cost tailwind. “However, in the second half of FY24 we expect revenue growth to moderate as pricing benefits should fade and growth would have to be volume-led,” said a report by BNP Paribas. There has been no aggressive price war as of now in the sector as of now, but if price cuts are not taken by large players in the segment, it might lead to unorganized players gaining market share. In the last one year, many consumers have ‘downtraded’ to unbranded products or local brands during periods of high inflation. “Prices of most stock keeping units (SKUs) have increased sharply over the last two years. Soap and detergent prices have risen 40-50% over that period. So far the price cuts have been limited and largely confined to the value segment. We believe price cuts might be needed to drive volumes,” said BNP Paribas. Without pricing strategies laid out, most FMCG players might see revenue growth challenges re-emerge this year, especially in the second half.
