EV fires are much less frequent than ICE (internal combustion engine) fires," he said in a tweet, tagging Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India. Earlier this year, Aggarwal called a senior auto journalist "Petrol Media", and mockingly shared pictures of Burnol in response to the criticism he faced on Twitter. Meanwhile, <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ola-electric" source="Orion">Ola Electric</keyword> is also planning to launch its own electric car in a couple of years, and recently displayed a prototype. Ola Electric later voluntarily recalled 1,441 scooters as a pre-emptive measure to conduct a detailed health check of the concerned batch. Amid cases of electric scooters catching fire, a man in Tamil Nadu in April set his Ola e-scooter on fire after being fed up with its poor performance. G. Prithviraj, who is a physiotherapist, had bought Ola scooter in January this year, but he had been fed up with its mileage and poor service by the company. "I had set my Ola scooter on fire as it did not give the mileage as promised by the manufacturer, and the poor service," he had told IANS. EV fires will happen says Ola's Bhavish Agarwal after Tata Nexon EV fire reports

NEW DELHI: The Delhi transport department has issued a show-cause notice to <keyword id="42747" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>, seeking its reply in connection with a complaint that one of its electric car models failed to meet the specified range on a single charge, officials said. The complainant claimed that the model (Nexon EV) of the electric car purchased by him from a dealer at the <keyword id="6412146" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="safdarjung-enclave">Safdarjung Enclave</keyword> and registered on December 3, 2020 has failed to provide the specified 312-km range on a single charge, a <keyword id="1389125" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="senior-transport-department-officer">senior transport department officer</keyword> said."It has been informed that while the <keyword id="4215553" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="vehicle-model">vehicle model</keyword> is specified to provide a 312-km range on a single charge, the vehicle owned by the said customer has never provided a range of more than 200 km," the show-cause notice issued to Tata Motors read. The vehicle owner, a resident of Najafgarh, also claimed that he has "duly followed" various advices of the dealer but no improvement was noticed, despite best efforts."Therefore, a show-cause notice is issued as the vehicle has failed to provide an optimal range to the consumer as promised by the OEM (original equipment manufacturer," the notice said. The notice has directed the OEM to depute its representative to appear before a transport department officer at 12 noon on February 15.In case no representative of the OEM appears before the transport officer on the designated date and time, further action including "delisting" of the said model from the subsidy-eligible e-vehicles' list can be considered, the notice stated. According to the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, notified by the transport department on August 7, 2020, a purchase incentive of ₹10,000 per kWh of battery capacity is provided on buying an electric four-wheeler with a cap of ₹1,50,000 per vehicle.The owners of the first 1,000 e-cars to be registered in Delhi after the issuance of the policy will be eligible for the incentive, officials said. The electric car model under question was approved under the eligibility conditions of the Delhi EV Policy .A Tata Motors spokesperson said the notice was received and "all possible measures" are being taken to address the concern.The range specified on a single full charge (312 km) for Nexon EV is on the basis of the certification received from the <keyword id="131330" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Automotive-Research-Association-of-India">Automotive Research Association of India</keyword> (ARAI), which is the official body that independently tests all mass-produced vehicles under standard test conditions, before those can be offered to customers, he said.The actual range achieved in EVs is dependent on the usage of the air-conditioner, individual driving style and the actual conditions in which the vehicle is driven. Delhi Government issues notice to Tata Motors over complaint from Nexon EV owner

Tata Nexon becomes the first Indian car to score a 5-star rating in global crash test standards

New Delhi, Feb 17 () Design and technology services firm Tata Elxsi on Monday announced partnership with group firm Tata Motors for developing a unified connected vehicle platform. The partnership will aid Tata Motors, which is in the process of offering connected vehicle feature as a key differentiator to most of its BS-VI range of passenger and commercial vehicles, the company said in a statement. Through a collaboration, Tata Motors and Tata Elxsi developed a cloud-based internet of things (IoT) platform that provides the automobile major with a common standard technology stack that delivers the scalability and high performance required to support the entire range of electric, commercial and passenger vehicles, it added. This unified cloud native approach will enable data and analytics synergies for Tata Motors, across product development, customer use cases, dealerships, allied businesses and service networks, enabling innovations in customer experience, offerings, services and business models, the statement said. Tata Motors' Nexon EV is the first application-enabled vehicle, with a number of connected vehicle features, it added. Commenting on the partnership, Tata Elxsi Managing Director and CEO Manoj Raghavan said the connected vehicle programme will help unify and synergise data through a common digital services platform enabling completely new services, innovative business models and enhanced customer experience. Tata Motors President and Chief Technology Officer Rajendra Petkar said, "Tata Elxsi brings strong automotive electronics experience, coupled with an excellent understanding of cloud-based applications, data governance and world-class user experience capabilities. The collaboration between the two teams has been outstanding and will continue to ensure a wonderful customer experience." Tata Elxsi partners Tata Motors for unified connected vehicle platform development

New Delhi, Jan 26 () Tata Motors aims to establish itself as the leader in the electric vehicle (EV) market in the country as it looks to roll out new products for both private and fleet segments, a senior company official said.
 The company, which sells its Tigor EV primarily to fleet customers, is now gearing up to cater to the personal segment with the introduction of the electric version of compact SUV Nexon which comes with a range of over 300 kms.
 "As far as Tata Motors is concerned, we want to establish ourselves as leaders in the EV space. We have taken up the mission that we should be ahead in terms of EV technology," Tata Motors President Electric Mobility Buisness Shailesh Chandra told in an interview.
 The auto major aims to build complete in-house capabilities in terms of design, supply chain and even full local manufacturing in the EV space as part of its plans to be a complete player in the segment, he added.
 "As an India OEM (original equipment manufacturer), we should be seen as very strong brand in the EV space. Here we are not dealing with 70 years old ICE (internal combustion engine) world. We are not catching up. Here, let others catch up with us, that is the thinking," Chandra said.
 He added that the company aims to have two clear types of customers -- fleet and private buyers and accordingly it needs to come with different solutions for both segments.
 Besides Nexon, which Chandra said would be priced between Rs 15-17 lakh, the company would also consider all the future products coming on its Alfa architecture as potential candidates for electrification.
 Tata Motors has just introduced premium hatchback Altroz, which is the first product to be based on the Alfa architecture. It has also introduced Ziptron powertrain for EVs under which the company plans to provide a range of over 250 kms for all its upcoming models.
 "Alfa architecture is protected for electrification. Every product on this platform will be a target for electrification. Altroz is the next target for us, that is the next project we are working on," Chandra said.
 The company would also keep working on updating its products meant for fleet segment, he added.
 The company in the first phase would look at seven major cities for EV deployment and later expand operations in other parts of the country.
 While lauding government's efforts in terms of introducing a comprehensive FAME-II scheme, Chandra said the authorities could further push adoption of EVs by making private segment four-wheelers also eligible for incentives.
 "In case government extends the FAME incentive to the private segment to those cars which qualify the criteria, it will unleash a different kind of potential for electrification. This is the only missing piece," Chandra noted.
 The company has requested the government to consider giving incentives to private segment vehicles as well to create demand.
 "We have requested the government to consider that because they have taken a target of 35,000 electric cars in the next three years. In the first year, there will be around 3,000 cars...so why not open it up for the private (segment) also to make the programme successful," Chandra said.
 He, however, agreed that challenges in terms of charging infrastructure remained in the country.
 "This is again one piece which is going to be addressed over next two years and the story is going to be different," Chandra said.
 He also emphasised on the need to bring in EVs in the entry segment in order to make them more appealing to the prospective customers in terms of pricing.
 Chandra said that in all around 300 EVs were sold by various OEMs in the first quarter of the current fiscal. In the second quarter, the volume rose to 500 units and to 800 units in the third quarter.
 "We expect fourth quarter to be double of third quarter due to the recent product launches...the perception that it (EV) space is only going to be limited to the fleet segment will not be the case with many launches expected in the personal space," he noted.
 The EV space is going to be a fair mix of fleet and personal segment cars, Chandra said.
 Around 15-20 launches in the EV space have already been announced, he added. Besides Tata Motors, companies like Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Hyundai and MG Motor have introduced electric models in the country. MSS ABM
