The stock of the company declined 4.09 per cent to trade at Rs 1,097.65 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). On the BSE, scrip of Tata Motors dropped 3.69 per cent to trade at Rs 1,102.40 per piece. The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 767.65 points or 0.94 per cent to trade at 81,099.90, while NSE Nifty fell 206.70 points to 24,804.20. On Thursday, Tata Motors reported an 11 per cent year-on-year dip in total sales at 71,996 units in July. The company had sold 80,633 units in July 2023. Its total domestic sales dipped 11 per cent and stood at 70,161 units last month as against 78,844 units in the year-ago period. The auto major said its consolidated net profit increased 74 per cent to Rs 5,566 crore in the June 2024 quarter, aided by robust performance by Jaguar Land Rover as well as domestic business. It had posted a net profit of Rs 3,203 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. The company's total income increased to Rs 1,09,623 crore for the period under review against Rs 1,03,597 crore in the June quarter in FY24. On a standalone basis, the automaker said its net profit stood at Rs 2,190 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 64 crore in the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 18,851 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal against Rs 16,132 crore in the corresponding period of FY24. Jaguar Land Rover reported a revenue of 7.3 billion pounds, the best first-quarter revenue on record, up 5 per cent versus the June quarter of FY24. The company also said its board has approved the Scheme of Demerger of Tata Motors Ltd (TML) into two separate listed companies. As part of the scheme, TML will demerge its commercial vehicle undertaking, involving the commercial vehicle business (all the assets, liabilities and employees relating to the commercial vehicle business) and all its related investments, into TMLCV. Further, pursuant to the scheme, the existing passenger vehicle business in TMPV, will be merged into TML, the existing listed entity. Upon the scheme becoming effective, both TMLCV and TML will be renamed, resulting in two separate listed entities. The company, which had two plants in the country had sold one to Indian automaker <keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Motors" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Tata Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> and planned a shutdown of the second plant. However, it could not wind down its vehicle and engine manufacturing in Chennai by the targeted timeline of the second quarter of 2022. The company on Friday submitted a letter of intent to the Tamil Nadu government, confirming its intention to utilise the Chennai plant for manufacturing for exports. "This step aims to underscore our ongoing commitment to India as we intend to leverage the manufacturing expertise available in Tamil Nadu to serve new global markets," Ford International Markets Group President Kay Hart said. “We are grateful for the ongoing support from the Tamil Nadu Government as we explored different options for the Chennai plant,” Hart added. The company said the strategic move will see the facility repurposed to focus on manufacturing for export to global markets, as part of the company's Ford+ growth plan. “Ford currently employs 12,000 individuals in Global Business Operations in Tamil Nadu, a number expected to grow by 2,500 to 3,000 jobs within the next three years”, it added. "Combined with the engine manufacturing operations in Sanand, India represents Ford's second-largest salaried workforce worldwide," the company said. The company said that further information about the type of manufacturing and other details will be disclosed later. Ford is returning to India, expresses intent to restart its Tamil Nadu plant for exports

As part of the MoU inked between the parties, 250 new fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles would be set up across the country. Strategically located in and around over 50 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi, among others, these new charging stations will significantly increase the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, Tata Motors said in a statement. Basis its understanding of the commercial EV movement, the commercial vehicle major will recommend optimal locations and nearest dealerships for setting up the fast-charging stations, the company said. While Delta Electronics will supply the necessary hardware, Thunderplus Solutions will install and operate them, it added. E-commerce companies, parcel and courier service providers, among other industries, are increasing the adoption of commercial EVs for last-mile deliveries. "Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles and improve vehicle uptime, resulting in higher revenues and better profitability, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener environment," Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Vice President and Business Head -- SCV &amp; PU -- Vinay Pathak said. Currently, Tata Motors sells Ace EVs to cater to various last-mile delivery requirements. The model is supported by over 150 electric vehicle service centres across the country. Tata Motors ties up with two firms to expand charging infra for electric CVs

This will be the first market outside South Kores where the country is listed. Hyundai, which entered the Indian market in 1996 is one of the top automakers in India, moving between the second and third spots. The company emerged as the second biggest automaker in Hyundai. Since it entered the Indian market, the company has sold over 80 lakh cars in the country. Hyundai intends to establish India as a global manufacturing and export hub for the company and this might be an initial step in this direction. KFin Technologies is the registrar for the public issue and advisors for the issue include Kotak Investment Banking, Citi, HSBC, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. <h2>India’s biggest IPO</h2>Hyundai India is looking to raise ₹27,870 crore from the IPO, significantly higher than the ₹21,008 crore raised by the state-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in 2022, making it the biggest IPO in India’s history. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="111690863" title="The biggest IPOs in India’s history – LIC to Paytm, companies that have raised the most funds" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> <h2>About the IPO</h2>The upcoming IPO from Hyundai is entirely an offer for sale (OFS), with the company looking to offload up to 17.5% of shares, which is 14.22 crore shares with a price band of ₹1865 to ₹1,960 per share. Bids can be made in a lot size of 7 shares or multiples of 7 shares. The IPO opens on October 15 and will close on October 18. While the allotment will be finalised on October 18, the shares will be listed on the stock exchange on October 22. At the upper end of the price band, Hyundai Motor India will be valued at $18 billion (approx. ₹1.6 lakh crore), which is around 40% of its parent company, Hyundai Global’s $45 billion valuation. As it is entirely an OFS, the company won’t receive any funds and all the funds raised will go to Hyundai Global. However, the company has said that part of the funds will be allocated towards research and development, especially in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid technologies. The company has reserved 7.78 lakh shares with a value of ₹131 to ₹138 crore for employees. Employees will get these shares at a discount of ₹186 per share. <h2>First carmaker in over two decades to go public</h2>In addition to being the biggest IPO in the country’s history, this will also make the company the first car maker to go public in India in over two decades. In essence, it is the premium above the issue price of a share. India’s biggest automakers, such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors have all reported a decline in <keyword id="47168" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="car-sales" source="Orion">car sales</keyword>. Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the Indian car market despite the decline in sales, with Hyundai and Tata Motors occupying the second and third spots respectively. <h2>Maruti Suzuki reports a nearly 10% decline</h2>Maruti Suzuki said its total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,37,463 units in July 2024, compared to 1,52,126 vehicles in July 2023, a decline of down 9.64%. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="112216733" title="Akums Drugs IPO allotment – How to check allotment, IPO GMP, listing date and more" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> The company's sales of mini-segment cars, such as the Alto and S-Presso, were higher at 9,960 vehicles in July 2024 compared to 9,590 vehicles in July 2023. Sales of compact cars consisting of Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR were lower at 58,682 vehicles last month compared to 67,102 vehicles in July 2023. Hyundai, which occupies the second spot this month sold 49,013 cars, down from 50,701 cars sold in July 2023, recording a 3% decline in sales. Tata Motors sold 44,725 vehicles in July 2024 as compared to 47,628 units sold in July 2023, recording a 6.1% decline in sales. Mahindra and Mahindra reported a 15% increase in passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market to 41,623 vehicles in July 2024 compared to 36,205 vehicles in July 2023. Kia reported a 2.5% increase in sales with 20,507 cars sold in July 2024, up from 20,002 units sold in July 2023. Honda Cars reported a 5% decline in sales, with 4,624 vehicles shipped in July 2024, down from 4,864 units shipped in July 2023. Several major automakers, such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahinda and others have announced discounts across a wide range of cars. The reason for the discount ranges from a slowdown in sales to massive inventory buildup, and more. <h2>Maruti Suzuki</h2>Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker has also announced a slew of discounts on cars such as the Jimny, Baleno, Grand Vitara and more. The Jimny, which has had poor sales has received the highest discount at up to ₹1.75 lakh for the Zeta variant and up to ₹1.8 lakh for the Alpha variant. The Grand Vitara SUV has received a discount of ₹55,000 for its hybrid variant, while its other variants have been discounted by up to ₹30,000. The company’s latest offering, the Fronx has also been discounted by up to ₹35,000. <h2>Tata Motors</h2>Tata Motors has announced that its popular EV, the Nexon EV will be available with a discount of up to ₹1.3 lakh. The Nexon EV Empowered+ has received the highest discount, while other variants of the car have been discounted by up to ₹60,000. The company’s affordable electric SUV, the Punch EV has also been discounted between ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 based on variants. The company’s premium SUVs, the Safari and Harrier are also available with discounts of up to ₹1.3 lakh. <h2>Hyundai</h2>Hyundai, one of the top automakers in the country has also announced discounts. The company’s popular hatchback i20 is available with a discount of up to ₹30,000 and an additional exchange bonus of ₹10,000. The Verna sedan is being sold with a discount of up to ₹20,000 and an exchange bonus of ₹15,000. The premium SUV from the company, Tucson is being offered with a discount of up to ₹2 lakh, which varies on the model. <h2>Mahindra</h2>Mahindra and Mahindra has officially announced a price cut for its premium XUV700’s AX7 range. It will now be available starting at ₹19.5 lakh (ex-showroom), after a price cut of ₹2 lakh. <h2>MG Motor</h2>MG Motor has announced a discount of up to ₹75,000 on the MG Hector, along with a bonus of ₹55,000. The MG ZS EV is available with a discount of up to ₹1.5 lakh while the premium Gloster SUV is being offered with a discount of up to ₹2 lakh.
