While there was some initial reservation about how this changed format could impact advertising, as well as the overall experience, brands are pretty enthusiastic. “This IPL will be played behind closed doors and will not have any audience in the stadiums to begin with. Most people will watch the matches on TV from the comfort of their homes and on digital platforms. Hence, TV and digital will be our biggest bet. TV should help us with a wide reach amongst the audience and digital medium will help us in engaging with the customers by giving them an innovative and immersive experience,” shared Srivatsa. With no on-ground activations, will consumer engagement be challenging? Srivatsa didn’t seem to think so, considering the brand will still have a strong on-ground presence. “Apart from ensuring a strong on-ground presence during matches, we have also planned a lot of activities in the showrooms. Across India, Tata Motors showrooms will be decorated in the IPL theme. Our dealerships will be the place where customers can also soak in the IPL ambience. Additionally, we will also be organizing interesting contests for customers on social media platforms, which will be announced close to the start of IPL.”

"Yes, Tata group is coming in as <keyword id="6354312" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ipl" source="Orion">IPL</keyword> title sponsor," IPL chairman <keyword id="140901" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="brijesh-patel" source="Orion">Brijesh Patel</keyword> confirmed the development to PTI. The money associated with the deal is yet to be known and a Tata spokesperson, while confirming the development with a "yes", didn't divulge any further details. Vivo had a deal of Rs 2200 crore for title sponsorship rights from 2018-2022 but after the 2020 Galwan Valley military face-off between the Indian and Chinese Army soldiers, the brand took a break for a year with Dream11 replacing it in the IPL. However, Vivo was back as IPL tittle sponsor in 2021 even as speculation raged that the company was looking to transfer the rights to a suitable bidder and the <keyword id="6354756" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BCCI" source="Orion">BCCI</keyword> approved the move. "This was supposed to happen sooner or later as Vivo's presence was bringing bad publicity for both the league as well as the company. With negative sentiment around Chinese products, the company had to pull out of the sponsorship with one season left for the deal to be completed," said a BCCI source. The BCCI will not lose any money as it is still assured of an annual sponsorship sum of Rs 440 crore which will now be paid by the new sponsors. The economics of sponsorship is that BCCI keeps 50 per cent of the money and distributes the rest among the IPL franchises which are now 10 with the addition of two new teams this year. It is understood that the deal is only for this year as of now as the BCCI will have to invite fresh tenders for the next cycle starting 2023. IPL reschedules KKR-RCB match after two cricketers test positive for COVID-19

Since 2014, the DTH category has begun focusing on small towns and villages in India, and these are markets where the demand for bite-size consumption exists. <keyword id="94550" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sky">Tata Sky</keyword>, a DTH service provider in India has introduced the 'Daily Recharge,' voucher empowering subscribers to pay only for the days they watched TV. This concept allows a minimum recharge value starting at Rs.8/-, making it the smallest denomination of recharge voucher in the television viewing sector globally. 
 
Available as a scratch coupon, the recharge is also available in higher denominations of Rs. 10, 20, 50 and 100 and will be effective for a maximum of 24 hours, midnight-to-midnight. These cards will be available even at general stores and small kiosks, including grocery (kirana) stores, across the country. 
 
For such a unique product the campaign also had to be innovative. What the company had to achieve was a behavioral shift, hence they went beyond the 30 second format of TV advertising as it would have left the consumers with a new piece of information but would have failed at engaging them. The challenge here was to amplify the everyday usage of the brand and thus the benefits associated with it. 
 Tata Sky, along with its agency <keyword id="456680" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ogilvy-Mather-India">Ogilvy &amp; Mather India</keyword> launched this product with a unique love story that promotes everyday usage in an interesting manner. The promise: "Daily milenge toh pyaar to hoga hi" is a simple expression of the product benefit and the brand promise. 
To further reinforce daily usage, the campaign evolves over multiple episodes. Set in a small town in Kashmir, the multiple episodes slowly unravels how the product works and intelligently amplifies the benefits of Daily Recharge, through Mannu (Prit Kamani) and Neelu (Himani Sisodiya) the protagonists of the love story.

Daily Boost 
With the understanding that there is a demand in smaller towns and villages for bite sized consumption (much like shampoo sachets and small sized mobile recharges), the 'Daily Recharge' card enables Tata Sky to make inroads into these untapped markets. Moreover, with digitization phase III still a year away, this plan should help accelerate acceptance of DTH sector in India. 
 
This innovation by Tata Sky puts the subscriber in control of his/her TV viewing expenses. There are a substantial number of subscribers who pay a monthly charge, but for some reason or another are unable to view TV on a daily basis. Tata Sky's Daily recharge now enables them to now choose when to pay for their TV viewing. 
 This consumer today in most regions still perceives the DTH category as premium and expensive, as compared to the local cable. Tata Sky's Daily recharge in this case tackles this barrier by providing an entry to the world of quality television viewing at a price lesser than any MSO or <keyword id="174153" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DTH-player">DTH player</keyword> in the world. The company announced this after 56 out of the 74 scheduled matches were played during IPL 2023. Viacom18 is the digital streaming partner of IPL after having bagged the digital rights for the 2023-27 cycle for $2.7 billion. The IPL 2023 season is streaming for free, giving users access to matches in several Indian languages as well as English. In addition to these, JioCinema also offers the ability to use different modes like 360-degree, spider cam, bowler point of view, among others. “JioCinema continues to grow from strength to strength every week and it is based on clear evidence of consumer’s outright preference of catching the Tata IPL on digital [platforms],” said Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj. This is cheaper than what other top players like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar are charging – while Netflix starts at ₹1,788 per year for its mobile plan, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar charge ₹1,499 per year. That said, JioCinema’s premium plans are not yet live on the platform and it’s not known when or if they will be launched. All eyes will be on the company for more details. IPL 2023 scores over 1,300 crore video views on JioCinema in the first five weeks

The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,496.04 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,19,986.31 crore, as compared to Rs 1,05,932.35 crore in the year-ago period. In <keyword id="20028449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q4" source="keywords">Q4</keyword> FY24, Tata Motors said all three auto businesses delivered strong performance. The company's British arm Jaguar Land Rover had "another record-breaking quarter in Q4 FY24. Revenue for the quarter was 7.9 billion pounds, up 11 per cent versus Q4 FY23", Tata Motors said. JLR's Profit After Tax (PAT) in Q4 was 1.4 billion pounds as against a profit of 259 million pounds in the same quarter a year ago, it added. The Board of Directors have recommended a final dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share and a special dividend of Rs 3 per ordinary share and Rs 3.10 per 'A' ordinary share subject to approval by the shareholders. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated net profit was at Rs 31,806.75 crore as compared to Rs 2,689.87 crore in the previous fiscal, the company said. In FY24, total consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,37,927.77 crore as compared to Rs 3,45,966.97 crore in FY23. <keyword id="20430970" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors-group" source="keywords">Tata Motors Group</keyword> Chief Financial Officer, PB Balaji said in FY24 the Tata Motors Group delivered its highest-ever revenues, profits, and free cash flows. "The India business is now debt-free, and we are on track to become net automotive debt-free on a consolidated basis in FY25. The businesses are executing well on their distinct strategies and therefore, we are confident of sustaining this strong performance in the coming years," he added. JLR's revenues for FY24 were 29 billion pounds, its highest-ever full-year revenue and up 27 per cent compared to the prior year, while PAT for FY24 was 2.6 billion pounds. "We have delivered a record financial performance for the company, generating free cash flow of 2.3 billion pound, enabling us to reduce net debt to 0.7 billion pound," JLR Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mardell said. The foundation of this performance was the sustained global demand for JLR's modern luxury vehicles, led by Range Rover and Defender brands, underpinned by a consistent focus on operational improvement, he added. Tata Commercial Vehicles' Q4 FY24 revenue was at Rs 21,600 crore, while FY24 revenue was Rs 78,800 crore. In Q4 FY24, domestic wholesale commercial vehicles (CV) volumes were 1,04,600 units, lower 7 per cent year-on-year on account of increased pre-buy in Q4 FY23 due to BS6 Phase II transition, the company said. Tata Motors Ltd Executive Director Girish Wagh said the Indian CV industry grew by a modest 2 per cent in volumes during FY24, impacted by a high base effect of FY23, elections held across five states and the announcement of general elections. "Our sharp focus on profitable growth resulted in the CV business recording its highest-ever revenues of Rs 78,800 crore and profits of Rs 6,100 crore in FY24. Going forward, we will intensify our efforts to grow market share, profitably and consistently, in every business segment by delivering more value to customers with innovative products, smarter services and holistic mobility solutions," he added. Tata Passenger Vehicles clocked revenue of Rs 14,400 crore in Q4 while for the full year FY24 it was at Rs 52,400 crore. In Q4, Passenger Vehicle (PV) volumes were at 1,55,600 units, up 14.8 per cent from the year-ago period, supported by new SUV facelifts and multiple power trains, the company said. "Passenger vehicle sales in India set a record in FY24 with over 4.2 million units sold, driven by SUVs (50 per cent of overall sales) and emission-friendly powertrains. Tata Motors recorded its third consecutive year of highest sales volumes with 6 per cent growth in wholesales and 10 per cent in retail sales over FY23," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. The company sold 73,800 EVs during the year, marking a 48 per cent increase as compared to FY23 and crossed a milestone of 1.5 lakh cumulative EV production, he added. Advertisements featuring the cricketers with new slogans for each time have already hit television screens across the country. The enormous popularity of the Indian Premier League – the 20-over cricket match with players from across country teams – is evident in the sold out stands seen at stadiums, high television ratings and recurring prime time slots, with nearly half of the audience being women. Yet, the majority of Indian commercials aired during IPL continue to target just men, a reflection of the typical gender stereotyping still common among advertisers. Even a cursory look at the latest numbers on viewership should make Indian brands sit up and evaluate why they need to switch their strategy – and do so urgently. According to a new report by BARC, IPL reaches to 77% more women than any primetime Hindi General Entertainment Channel (GEC). The report added that IPL reaches out to 262 million women in just 51 days as opposed to a top GEC channel which manages to garner 200 million in a year. Overall, women today hold a 47% television audience share during IPLs. It’s been 12 years since IPL launched and it still manages to be a big favourite of advertisers, attracting big spends. An <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/advertising/rs-2000-cr-ad-spends-set-aside-for-ipl/articleshow/67767108.cms">ET</a> report states that for <keyword id="6128971" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipl-2019">IPL 2019</keyword>, advertisers are expected to spend more than ₹2000 crore, which is a jump from Star India’s last year’s revenue of ₹1,750 crore from IPL ads. From shaving companies to fairness creams for men or ads presented as locker room scenes and even indirect advertising for liquor featuring male actors continue to take centre stage during the primetime spots or even as tickers during matches. While not all top brands that cater to both men and women have stereotyped advertisements during cricket matches to be only for men, the general notion has been to sell a product to men during matches. Brands that hit a six with advertisements in 2018 According to a report on <a href="http://www.adageindia.in/marketing/news/ipl-2018-are-brands-scoring-enough-in-terms-of-creativity-this-season/articleshow/63807101.cms">AdAge India</a>, the brands which made a mark during IPL ads in 2018 were Vivo, Reliance Jio, Colgate, Amul, Coca-Cola, MakeMyTrip, Dream11, Kent, Berger Paints, Asian Paints, Crompton, Blue Star, Voltas, Haier, Luminous, Dollar, Vimal Pan Masala, Ceat Tyres, Pidilite, Vanessa, Sleep Well, Parle Agro, Parle Products, Polycab, Vu TV, AMFI, Dollar, Domino’s, Ford, Elica, Onida, Linkedin, Tata Nexon, among others. Popular phone manufacturer Vivo Electronics Corp <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Opinion/ZBNS9iU91o4k7CN2b8826I/Why-IPL-continues-to-charm-audiences-advertisers.html">paid </a>₹2,199 crore for a five-year sponsorship of IPL, a big big jump from Pepsi’s ₹400 crore 5-year deal. Additionally, IPL has always been a great time to launch new advertising campaigns, and has already seen many success stories in India. One of the most successful ad campaigns that took off during IPL is Vodafone Zoozoo. The Zoozoos took off from the second season of the IPL and also went on to win <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/latest-headlines/story/vodafones-zoozoo-campaign-wins-award-71192-2010-04-07">awards</a> for successful marketing strategy. Even startups like Swiggy witnessed a <a href="https://www.exchange4media.com/ipl-news/swiggys-ipl-ad-campaign-yields-25growth-in-orders-during-ipl-90467.html">growth</a> of 25% thanks to their advertising during the IPL matches.
