He said that the brand managed to sell over 50 properties in 2013. In fact, the first unit was off the block within 10 minutes of the festival going live. "This emboldened us and since then there was no looking back," Banerjee says. 
 <keyword id="6613497" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Housing">Tata Housing</keyword> sold more than 30 properties online, each with a price tag of over Rs 1 crore netting Rs 75-80 crore in 2014-15. In June 2015, it announced that it sold a villa worth Rs 5.5 crore via its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=eCommerce+">eCommerce</a> portal. "So far, we have sold over 1,500 properties online," he claims.

1. Transparency: The sheer convenience of buying quickly in the most transparent manner, without the involvement of any intermediaries, is driving people to try the online medium. 
 2. Internet effect: The fact that internet influences more than 50% real estate buying decisions, as suggested by a <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> study last year. It revealed that online influence on realty transaction value amounted to $43 billion, including $31 billion for residential properties. 
 
3. Trust factor: The most crucial element of online buying is the trust factor. "The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Group+">Tata</a> brand stands for trust. So the consumers know that the brand would deliver," said the MD and CEO of Tata Housing. 
 
4. Ample information available online: The company feeds such buyers with a lot of information about the property and tries to make up for their lack of physical presence. There are 3D walkthroughs for projects which helps buyers see every aspect of the property online.

Five reasons why Tata Housing took risks to make profits

Purchasing home online initially seemed to be a far-fetched idea, but off late this has gained great traction as buyers are now carrying out multi-crore transactions in <keyword id="2906603" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Internet-based-real-estate-industry">Internet-based real estate industry</keyword>. Recently, a Mumbai resident spent Rs 4.5 crore to book a 4 BHK apartment at The Promont, Bangalore with <keyword id="6613497" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Housing">Tata Housing</keyword> online. The <keyword id="6354553" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="real-estate">real estate</keyword> firm sold another luxury unit in its project called Myst in Kasauli to an NRI customer for Rs 5.5 crore online, making it India's largest transaction in the online space. 

	Even India’s major e-tailer Snapdeal sold a Tata Housing unit for Rs 1.1 crore early this month within hours of commencing the sale. Later, the Delhi-based online marketplace Snapdeal claimed that this was its highest online transaction and the company sees. It further asserted that the frequency of such transactions is moving beyond a crore on its site.
 "The Rs 5.5-crore transaction is the highest ever in the Indian online space. We have tied up with <keyword id="1143302" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Snapdeal-com">Snapdeal .com</keyword> and <keyword id="1960231" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Housing-com">Housing.com</keyword> to sell our premium and value housing units,” a senior Tata Housing official told TOI. 

	He further added that “Tata Housing has sold over 1,500 units online, accounting for 25% of Rs 1,100-crore sales and expects that online sales will account for over 40% of revenues in the coming years with the tremendous growth of e-commerce."
 

	Apart from Tata Housing, other realty players like DLF, Sobha Developers, Godrej Properties, Mantri Developers and Purvankara are following suit to tie up with online retailers to grab a slice of the $45-billion organised property market.

	According to a Tata Housing spokesperson, a virtual walk-through the property in order to check out the neighbourhood is helping home-seekers to make informed decisions. He further added, “We offer premium properties online that are not available offline to get the customer's attention."

New Delhi, May 6 () Leading realty firm Tata Housing on Wednesday launched an online campaign to sell completed housing units in its 17 projects, offering prospective buyers to book their flats by paying 10 per cent now and rest in January next year. Housing demand has been affected badly because of nationwide lockdown to control coronavirus disease. Real estate developers and brokers are adopting digital marketing tools to sell residential apartments to mitigate the impact and tide over this crisis.Tata Housing Development Company said in a statement that the company has launched the "Happy Place Called Home" campaign, aiming to provide homebuyers an opportunity to purchase their dream home even during this time of uncertainty caused by the coronavirus outbreak.The campaign is extended across 17 Tata Housing projects with ready- to-move-in properties."The scheme allows customers the flexibility to pay 10 per cent now on their preferred property and rest in January 2021," the statement said.The customer needs to pay an amount of 1/2/3 lakhs depending upon the type of unit before May 31. The customer has time till June 15 to visit the property and decide whether he/she wants to continue with the booking.In case of any uncertainty, the customer has the liberty to get a 100 per cent refund on the EOI (expression of interest).The scheme was launched through a webinar attended by over 2,000 property brokers.Sanjay Dutt, MD &amp; CEO, Tata Realty &amp; Infrastructure Ltd said, "In a dynamic country like India, changes in the housing trends are witnessed every few years. Tata Housing to sell ready flats in 17 projs online; buyers can pay 10% now, rest in Jan next yr

Emphasising that there will "definitely" be pruning of the Tata portfolio, <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran has said that the company will not exit a business "just to get a headline" but only when it is certain it is not getting returns from it, according to PTI. "Tata is already a $100 billion group. To get to the next level we need scale. We can't do it with multiple small companies. We need top companies. I am not saying specifically that all companies need to be No. 1 or 2 [in their sectors], but we need to have top companies," Chandrasekaran said in an interview to Fortune magazine. The magazine noted that Chandrasekaran, 54, is not ruling out selling off underperforming companies. "We won't exit a business just to get a headline. But we will exit if we aren't getting returns today and we don't think we'll get them tomorrow. I have thought a lot about this. We'll definitely prune the portfolio," the former Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) chief said. The report said Chandrasekaran's colleagues and investors hope he can transfer to the rest of the <keyword id="6355725" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Group">Tata group</keyword> some of the "digital magic" he brought to TCS, where he tripled sales and profits during his seven years as CEO. "One of my key messages is that we're going to look at performance for every operating company--growth rates, profitability, return on capital," he said. "You can't perform if you're not fit. If you want to run a six-minute mile, you have to bring your weight down." The report said much of the House of Tata is in "urgent need" of renovation, with some of its biggest businesses growing sluggish and vulnerable to smaller, nimbler rivals. "Chandra has vowed to reorganize the group to focus on growth and scale. Tata's corporate roster is rife with opportunities for consolidation, with multiple companies competing in the same segment. Chandrasekaran took over as chief of the holding company of the multinational conglomerate in February. He is the first non-Parsi chairman of the 150-year old Tata Group. The report said Chandrasekaran isn't pushing significant changes to the reporting relationship with the trusts. "I am not briefing [them] on what we're doing with every single company. But they are the primary shareholder for the group. I don't think there is a conflict in keeping them informed," he said. On the group's Nano car, Chandrasekaran stresses that <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> will have other priorities. "Passenger car sales are small, and within that the Nano is even smaller. I don't think shutting down the Nano plant is a decision the team will make. "You know the corporate world. If you are asking if I feel like I have as much power as any other CEO, the answer is yes. But it's a process. It's not like I can get up in the morning and say, 'Hey, I want to exit financial services.' There's a discussion. I have a long conversation with the board. Every decision has to be thought through, explained to the management?...I'm pretty happy with the amount of freedom I have," he said. On prospects for Tata Sons' relationship with the Mistry family, Chandrasekaran said he cannot talk about the issue given that the matter is in the courts. "It's in the courts. I can't talk about it? I don't know much about the history. We'll let the court case come to its conclusion," he added.

"Tata Value Homes will help lower and middle-income households and young professionals in urban and semi-urban areas access quality, <keyword id="136927" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="affordable-housing">affordable housing</keyword>," said Vipul Prakash, IFC's Director, Global Corporate Coverage. 

	He said the investment would be the first step towards a longer-term partnership to facilitate the development of affordable housing in India, where there is high demand for housing. 
 The demand is high due to <keyword id="68159" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Urbanization">urbanization</keyword>, rising trends of having <keyword id="168112" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nuclear-families">nuclear families</keyword>, and rising incomes. There is an estimated shortage of over 19 million housing units, as per an Economic Times report. 

	"Our partnership with IFC will help increase availability of affordable, value housing in India," said Brotin Banerjee, CEO and MD, Tata Housing.
 

	"Over the past few years, we have delivered over 5,000 apartments in the price range of $8,000 to $50,000 (Rs 500,000 to Rs 30 lakh) across various townships. This partnership with IFC will help us become India's largest home provider in the value and affordable housing segment by 2018-19," he said.

Gupta has rescued several steel plants and hundreds of jobs in the UK so far. 
 
"We can confirm that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Liberty+House&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Liberty</a> will submit a letter of intent to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Steel&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Tata Steel </a>on Tuesday and has put in place a strong internal transaction team and panel of leading external advisers to take the bid forward," a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Liberty+House&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Liberty House</a> spokesperson was quoted as saying by 'The Financial Times'. 
 
Gupta's interest in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Steel&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Tata Steel</a> however comes with a twist. He has a turnaround plan that may cost as much as £1 billion by shutting down the blast furnaces and instead produce steel from the scrap generated in domestic market. 
 
Gupta is currently being advised by several former <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Steel&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Tata Steel</a> executives including Jon Bolton.
