The <keyword id="10737134" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="short-film-bittu">short film Bittu</keyword> has made it to the <keyword id="10737133" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="live-action-short-film-shortlist">Live Action Short Film shortlist</keyword>, and is still in contention for a nomination. Karishma Dev Dube's "Bittu" is part of the ten-movie list. The film has been presented by <keyword id="6354597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ekta-Kapoor">Ekta Kapoor</keyword>, <keyword id="197931" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Guneet-Monga">Guneet Monga</keyword> and <keyword id="1392805" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tahira-Kashyap">Tahira Kashyap</keyword> under their Indian Women Rising initiative. Now, members of the Short Films and Feature Animation Branch will vote to determine if the film makes the nomination cut. Based on a true story, Bittu follows the journey of a fierce little girl who refuses to be forgotten. It explores a heartwarming tale of friendship between two school friends. Other films in the short film shortlist are: Da Yie, Feeling Through, The Human Voice, The Kicksled Choir, The Letter Room, The Present, Two Distant Strangers, The Van and White Eye. Guneet, whose film Period. End Of Sentence had won an Oscar in 2019, was ecstatic about the news, and expressed it on her Instagram handle. Oscars 2021: India's 'Bittu' makes it to Live Action Short Film shortlist

In the spirit of keeping this conversation going and furthering the cause of equality within households, Ariel launched the 4th chapter of ShareTheLoad under which it undertook a survey that revealed that 71*% women in India sleep less than their husbands due of household chores. Uneven division of household chores like laundry is coming in the way of women getting enough sleep and rest. In fact, in many households, women are the first to wake up and last to sleep. This time, the conversation is about these unaccounted hours of early mornings and late nights, which are usually spent in wrapping up the chores she couldn’t complete during the day! When men don’t share the load, what ends up getting impacted is a basic and everyday phenomenon – sleep! Lack of sleep is thus almost an indicator, of the inequality within the household. The new film, launched across social media and digital platforms, seeks to highlight the impact of unequal division of chores on their wife’s well-being, and leverage this with men to drive an urgency to act. Over the last 5 years, Ariel has been able to impact the thought process for millions of men. From 79**% men in 2014 who thought laundry was only a woman’s job, the number has steadily declined, being 41*% in 2019. However, even today, only 35*% men contribute daily towards household chores. Ariel has taken the onus to set the bar higher in 2020. In a survey, most men agree that washing clothes in a machine are the easiest chore for them to start taking over. Thus, Ariel aims to make laundry the face of this movement against inequality within households by urging men to take the first step to #ShareTheLaundry and eventually, #ShareTheLoad for equal sleep. After all, with Ariel anyone can get an outstanding clean, no matter who does the laundry! The film, conceptualised by <keyword id="6583398" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BBDO">BBDO</keyword>, is depicted from the eyes of a little girl devoid of any conditioning, who notices her mom is missing at night while she is asleep and continues to notice her running around doing multiple things, tired and sleepy. The father’s moment of realization is also in a way, driven by the daughter missing her mom at night.

 This inequality within households manifests itself in many more ways for the woman. More than half* the women feel that their children miss out on them due to the burden of household chores these women must carry. 3 out of 5* women agree that they feel tired during the day. Interestingly, in the same survey, half the women agreed that if they had some free time during the day, they would wish to sleep instead of doing any other activity. Noted film-maker and author <keyword id="7057090" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="tahira-kashyap-khurrana">Tahira Kashyap Khurrana</keyword>, who watched the film, said, “The film has opened my eyes to a harsh reality. Sleep is a basic need, and if that starts to get impacted, it is a matter of time that health and well-being will take a hit too. When husbands don’t do their bit, it impacts their partner’s everyday life, which most men don’t even realise. Mumbai, May 13 () Filmmaker Farah Khan says her daughter Anya has raised over Rs 2.5 lakh by sketching pets, the proceeds of which will go towards feeding the homeless and stray animals affected by the coronavirus pandemic.Last month, the filmmaker took to social media to announce that Anya, 12, decided to sketch a pet and sell the artwork for Rs 1,000 to support such neglected animals.Farah on Wednesday gave an update on Anya's sketches, saying that her daughter had so far finished 100 sketches and is ready for the next set of orders. COVID-19: Farah Khan's daughter raises Rs 2.5 lakh to feed homeless stray animals

Mumbai, Apr 15 () Bollywood celebrities such as director Onir, actor Sunny Leone and author Tahira Kashyap are utilising their time at home during the national lockdown to keep the creativity flowing: from making short films, creating web shows to narrating fictional stories, all on the Internet.With cinema halls shut and all production suspended due to the coronavirus, there has been a boom in content for online platforms.Actors are going live on Facebook and Instagram to interact with fans, and musicians in the country are performing online gigs to ease the tension. Some, like Sunny, have also started a digital chat show.Tahira was one of the firsts to start a video series titled "The Lockdown Tales", where she narrates mini fictional stories - aided by sound effects - on Instagram. So far, the writer has uploaded four stories, chronicling the lives of people through fictional characters who have been affected by the lockdown.The idea to take to the digital storytelling was the "most natural" for her, she said. "It wasn't only because of the lockdown. I had to bring forth my most creative self. I was overwhelmed with the situation. I was oscillating between being hopeful and devastated, knowing what all is happening. Each one of us is living these moments and I wanted to put words, memories and stories to these moments," Tahira told .Actor Shreya Dhanwanthary of "The Family Man" fame, decided to make her directorial debut with the micro-series "A Viral Wedding: Made In Lockdown". "We are thinking about newer ways to entertain people," she said. Onir has started inviting budding filmmakers to utilise their time in the lockdown by making short film indoors, which he and frequent collaborator-actor Sanjay Suri will judge.Onir was surprised by the response - it grew in numbers every week - and said the whole idea was to engage people in something creative."For me it started with 'Lockdown Diaries' where everyday I was putting out videos of cooking and various things I'm doing. "I thought this is a good time to do something from home. This is a good way to look for talent also at the same time you're giving something for people to do, to engage themselves," Onir said. Perhaps the most touching stories in recent times will emerge from these feelings.
