		The app has been developed to help parents figure out possible development disorders their child might have in just 45 seconds. It has a current user base of 7000+ parents from 100 countries.

		What difficulties you faced while making this app?
	 
	
		The biggest difficulty was to find out the right specialists. If you talk about development disorders, finding the correct specialist or the data is difficult especially in a country like India where there is never a record of the same.
	 
	
		Basically, the app asks parents questions in yes or no format, and based on that it tells the parents about the possible development disorder their child might be suffering from. It is 80 percent accurate now.
	 


	Then we tell them this is the type of specialist which they should visit.
 

	What are you working on right now?
 

	We are a team of around 10 people right now. We are trying to increase the efficiency. We are also trying to increase the usability and get more parents on the platform. 
 

	A few months ago, Facebook COO <keyword id="611995" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sheryl-Sandberg">Sheryl Sandberg</keyword> mentioned you in a post. How has life been after that? Did it change your life in any way?
 

	I would say that this changed my life. People got to know a lot more about me. I started getting invitations from places to speak. But rather than being taken away by pride, I am just capitalising on them and trying to build a better product.
 

	Your app detects possible <keyword id="494680" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="developmental-disorders">developmental disorders</keyword> in 45 seconds. But it took your parents nine years to detect your Dyspraxia. What were the difficulties you parents had to face?
 

	My parents had to face the social stigma. Instead of helping me try to figure out what is wrong with me, the society made fun of me. So that was hurting my parents a lot at that moment. The teachers were not that supportive too. This is the sad truth of the society.
 

	Besides, it was also difficult to find the right specialist for dyspraxia.
 

	So I built this app and I am what I am today.
 

	How were you treated by your teachers and classmates in school?
 

	My parents were told by one of my high school teacher that their child should go and study in a school of the disabled. My parents were quite upset.
 

	But last year I gave lecture in front of that teacher. No, it did not feel like revenge. I just felt happy.
 

	What should be done to increase awareness about developmental disorders in India?
 

	India does not have any data about developmental disorders anywhere, neither in paper or online. Parents should be made more aware about these issues right from the time they conceive the child.
 

	What was your most memorable moment in life?
 

	When I went to address Josh talks in Delhi University. It was really great experience to see hundreds of students getting inspired by what I have done. I felt proud of myself.
 

	What was the most disheartening moment?
 

	I haven’t seen any moment like that, yet.
 

	What is your dream company where you want to work after MyChild?
 

	I am working on my dream company right now. My dream is to have a mobile application that would be in the hands of every parent one day. 
 

	We are working towards getting the data, the insights and reducing the chances of delayed treatment. We will be launching our version soon in the coming months.
 

	What is your expected target for this app?
 

	We are trying 100,000-500,000 users till March.
 

	Now that you are going out and addressing talks like Josh and TED and people are talking about you, how do you handle the popularity?
 

	I am not popular. No one knows me. I am a normal kid. It’s just about the perception of how you are famous. I am honoured that Sheryl Sandberg mentioned me. But for me, I would consider myself famous when millions of parents would be using my app. That would be my Eureka moment.

Harsh Songra- A child prodigy who Sheryl Sandberg mentioned in her post has been a victim of stigma related to development disorder in India

<keyword id="2078811" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kshitij-Marwah">Kshitij Marwah</keyword> was at the bottom third of his class at IIT Delhi. During convocation, he told his father he stood towards the last as the queue was arranged alphabetically. But he was one of the very few in his class who managed to grab an opportunity to work with doctors at Harvard Medical School and managed an internship at the <keyword id="101399" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Stanford-University">Stanford University</keyword> during his four year course. Traditional method of education never really impressed him. He was always innovating and experimenting. 

	“If someone quits a comfortable well paying job to start something new, he/she is a risk taking personality. That makes one successful,” he said.
 After working at <keyword id="249476" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="MIT-Media-Labs">MIT media labs</keyword>, he started MIT Media labs in India, working closely with young talent. These workshops saw the inception of products like smart fabrics and smart sensors. Now he has his own start-up, <keyword id="1614333" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="tesseract">Tesseract</keyword> which was launched two months back. He is making it big with the first Tesseract product that can create <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/The-virtual-reality-wars-are-heating-up/articleshow/49896319.cms">Virtual Reality</a> images and videos.

	Kshitij talks about his products and all that is wrong with the start-up spaces in India, in chat with Business Insider India.
 

	How is the <keyword id="3148801" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="360-VR-camera">360 VR camera</keyword> different from the other products that are there in the market?
 We don’t see the world as 2D images. We see the world in 360 degree view, in 3D. But our phones and Televisions give us a 2D view of the world. So we thought how we can build a camera which can record in 360 and in <keyword id="6369781" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Virtual-reality">Virtual Reality</keyword>. We started this product last October. At that time there weren’t such products in the market at all. In countries like India, Russia, <keyword id="12925" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Africa">Africa</keyword> outdoor maps don’t exist. <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> was not allowed to make 360 degree footage in India. So we thought of creating maps in 360 and in <keyword id="6380951" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="VR">VR</keyword>. 

	How was manufacturing in India done?
 

	First, we had to figure out the manufacturing hubs in India. It took us two months of cajoling the players to convince them to manufacture for us. The sensors used were Sony sensors which came from Japan. But the optics of the lenses was made in India. The whole circuitry, PCD and the electronics that power the whole algorithm for spacing, blending and VR compression were all made in India.
 

	What challenges did you face while making technology in India and promoting it in India?
 

	When we started off in India, everybody told us that India cannot produce a hardware product. So I made it with my own money. The next thing was to sell it. When we approached a major real estate portal, the first thing they said was have you sold it in the US market.
 

	It took a lot of effort to convince them about the uniqueness and the productivity of the product. 
 

	We launched it in August and in two and a half months we have sold 50 devices. 
 

	Selling it in the US market was ironically a bit easier than the Indian market. They are more accustomed to technology. People in India take time to understand technology first. 
 

	Where does India stand with respect to Virtual Reality?
 

	VR has two parts, content and capture. It is much more difficult to capture in VR than display in VR. 
 

	VR in India will catch probably one or two years later than the US. India will jump into the VR boat when the devices to capture and display will be cheaper and anybody can afford it.
 

	Hence we will not target the consumers in India first.
 

	So we are going to start with B2B route in India. Slowly cost will come down as it becomes popular. We are going to have more evolution in the western market and then maybe after two years you are going to see a big boom happen in India.
 

	India is experiencing a start-up boom. What are the main gaps in infrastructure and how can it be solved?
 

	For start-ups we need to set up economic zones in conjunction with industrial parks. We need to have a manufacturing facility right next to the innovation zone. 
 

	What about the manpower? Our educational system does not foster innovation. What is your say.
 

	It is true. During our MIT media lab workshops we received emails from IIT students stating that IIT has completely stifled innovation. We need to create role models and successful companies in this space.
 

	What is the first big challenge that an entrepreneur faces when he/she tries to come out of his/her comfort zone to do something new?
 

	There were two challenges that I faced. There was a dearth of capital and dearth of right mentors in the space.
 

	What will you talk about in the TEDxGateway in December in Mumbai?
 

	In TEDxGateway we are launching world’s first live streaming 360 VR camera. We are working on Vicam, the world’s first VR video camera with live streaming.
 

	What will be some of the daily life applications of Vicam?
 

	We see four major applications. 
 

	1. Application in home security-you can just put this camera in your homes and completely monitor your home sitting in your office. 
 

	2. Immersive video conferencing
 

	3. Movie making- You would be able to see not only the actors but the surrounding too.
 

	4. Gaming
 

	5. With this camera we can build self driving cars in India- We can map the roads accurately.
 

	Which section of the society do you target with your technologies?
 

	Right now the technologies are expensive. As we get more adoption, the cost will come down.
 

	We are targeting a cost mark of Rs. 30,000.
 

	We will start with businesses and bring it down to consumers.
 

	What is your opinion about the government’s Digital India and Make in India?
 

	It is a brilliant initiative. But we need a programme to focus towards early stage companies to ‘Make in India’.

EXCLUSIVE: Kshitij Marwah, the pioneer of hardware manufacturing spaces in India has more to offer to the country than just technology

The oceans are at peril and there is law enforcement void in the international waters. Someone needs to go down there and save the ecosystem. From illegal fishing of whales to dolphins to toothfish, the poachers are on its way to extinct these beautiful creation of nature in a bid to make money. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/EXCLUSIVE-Life-as-a-Captain-of-Sea-Shepherd-the-pirates-of-the-sea/articleshow/49768148.cms">Sea Shepherd</a>, a UN Chartered organisation has taken the noble task of saving the waters from the poachers, risking their lives even. Sometimes fighting the poachers and sometimes fighting the government, they go to any extend to save the aquatic wildlife. 
 They announced their next campaign on Monday, <keyword id="3135361" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Operation-Icefish">Operation Icefish</keyword> 2015-2016. While they are just back from their last campaign Operation Icefish 2014-2015 which was a huge success, they think there is still lot more to be done. 
 
TEDxGateway brings some of these inspiring personalities on one platform to raise awareness. 
 The captain of <keyword id="359327" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sea-Shepherd">Sea Shepherd</keyword>, Siddharth Chakravarty, reveals some of the intricate details about the last mission, tells us all that is wrong with the conservation laws and their ongoing fight against the Japanese Government, in an exclusive interview with Business Insider India. 
 The mission where they pursued an <keyword id="6355520" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Interpol">Interpol</keyword> listed, despite of warnings of their life being at risks 
 Operation Icefish was the first of its kind campaign to specifically target fishing in <keyword id="6354781" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Antarctica">Antarctica</keyword>. 
 
They were in 2 vessels with a crew of 70 and the aim was to head to Antarctica to fill an enforcement void in those waters and to deliver these vessels to justice while they were fishing in the ice in Antarctica. There are known six vessels which were returning to Antarctica in last 13-14 years and have remained outside traditional law enforcement. 
 On December 17, one of the vessels <keyword id="851314" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bob-Barker">Bob Barker</keyword>, found Thunder which was an Interpol listed and began a hot pursuit of the vessel through ice and pore Ocean. Ultimately 110 days later the Thunder was scuttled and intensely sunk in West <keyword id="12925" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Africa">Africa</keyword> by her captain to destroy evidence. The captain has been charged with three years of imprisonment and also charged the owner 15 million euros for pollution. 
 
“That was an extremely successful outcome because generally in the world of crimes against fisheries you do not see such strong and quick resolution,” said the captain. 
 
What also happened was it brought together a lot of changes to how a crime was tackled. Interpol along with governments of New Zealand and Australia, Nigeria, Germany, Canada, multiple parties came together and they began investigating the money side, the ownerships and false paperwork that goes into running these illegal operations from their side. And ultimately by May when the campaign concluded we had managed to shut down all six of those vessels. This was again an unprecedented sort of success that never happened before. Sea Shepherd announced Operation Icefish 2015-2016 as two of the poaching ships have managed to evade law and escape. 
 
This year we are going with one ship because there are 2 poachers left, with a crew of about 35 on the ship, said the captain who was onboard the vessel Sam Simon, the other vessel on the pursuit. 
 
What was the most difficult part of your last mission? 
 We had two sides to that campaign. One was the chase of 110 days, which was almost 5 times the last chase. It went across four oceans, Antarctica Ocean, <keyword id="12350" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Ocean">Indian Ocean</keyword> and round the Cape of Good Hope to South Atlantic. So for the crew on board, the biggest challenge was the uncertainty of everyday chasing a wanted poaching vessel. And not knowing when it would end. That uncertainty played very heavily on the crew. The other vessel went in and picked up 72 kms of illegal fishing from the waters of Antarctica. For four weeks there were crews who worked 24x7 with a couple of days break every four days. Picking up these gear and in that process returning back about 50,000 kilos of toothfish, storing git on board and delivering it to the police to launch an investigation was not an easy task. All these happened in sub-zero temperature. 
 
 
 
How was it to see Thunder go down to the bottom of the sea? 
 
It was a very surreal experience. We were the only ones in the sea who could even rescue the crew so I was actually speaking to the captain of the thunder about how I would be rescuing his crew when his ship went in the background. We never really expected there to be such a spectacular ending to the campaign. On one hand there was the jubilation that it had ended and driven the most notorious fishing vessel on this planet to the very edge when they decided to sink their own ship. On the other side there was the brave responsibility of picking up 40 people from that vessel, potentially knowing that they would be hostile and they would wrestle towards us. After that we still had the responsibility to deliver them to law enforcement agencies on shore because on the absence of that they would just disappear and the cycle would just continue. 
 
Many days and weeks later, it was finally a relief that the notorious vessel do not exist today. 
 
The Japanese government has agreed to stop its Whaling. Do you think the fight is over? 
 <keyword id="3135362" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Japanese-whaling">Japanese whaling</keyword> campaign was a huge success as we continued to gain support from across the world during the campaign. Whaling is a frowned down activity across the world now. We were able to gather a lot of public support and momentum and actually it became an election issue for the Australian and the New Zealand government. They promised the people that if they were voted to power they would take the Japanese whaling to international court of justice, which ultimately did happen. Japan has a vested interest in Antarctica and aims to resume its whaling operations. They made it clear last year that they would try and work around the international court of justice ruling. This year they have earlier said that they still intend to continue with their research vessels including the lethal component which means harpooling of whales. 
 
The verdict can be swayed aside because of lack of control over the oceans. We are looking at what the Japanese whalers are doing. If they go after it, then starting next year we would be focusing on that. 
 
Sea Sheperd is also helping an NGO in Australia with all the evidence to go up in the federal court against the Japanese government. 
 
There is a tourist surge in Antarctica. How do you think the ecosystem is hampered? 
 
Antarctica so far has not supported a big tourism industry. It does not support anything else than science and research, but as these places become more accessible and as people will have the means to stride into Antarctica, there will be a surge in tourists and that can only be controlled using a limit on the number of tourists and the tour operator being absolutely ethical about how the tourists interact with the wild life. 
 
What is your opinion about the present Conservation laws? 
 
Fisheries crimes are increasing for two reasons. One, the governments do not have the monetary capacity to enforce the laws in their waters. 
 
Second, there are those who are willing to exploit those illegal fishing or operators.

 “We need to know the fundamentals of <keyword id="6358165" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="terrorism">terrorism</keyword> first,” he said.

What are the challenges that Indian intelligence faces especially in the current trying conditions, given the emergence of organisations such as ISIS and constant threats coming in from Al Qaeda and LeT? 
 
If there should be a benchmark of how a terrorist attack should be dealt with, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Terror-Strikes-Iraq-tops-the-List-Srinagar-and-Imphal-at-extreme-risk/articleshow/47382745.cms">9/11</a> should be it. The US have defence budget of close to $700 bn. We do not even have a fraction of that budget with population six times that of US. Besides that, our society is struck by far greater internal problems, communal riots, religious differences, goons and rapes. When we are faced with this multitude of challenges it is difficult to follow this benchmark. The scale, type and complexity of the challenges faced by Indian Intelligence and <keyword id="112134" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Armed-Forces">Indian Armed Forces</keyword> are so widespread that drawing a simile with anything else is foolish. Unless we start facing the reality, we are basically going to kill ourselves. The change we need is in our thinking. If people take AK-47 and shoot their way into Taj, they will enter into Taj. The story of having <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Pakistan-on-hanging-spree-Terrorism-still-remains-unaddressed/articleshow/46675568.cms">zero terrorist incidents</a> is over now. 
 In the <keyword id="39746" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gaza">Gaza</keyword> strip, for <keyword id="66869" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hezbollah">Hezbollah</keyword> or <keyword id="39745" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hamas">Hamas</keyword>, suicide bombers have a waiting list of two years for being recruited. In that kind of scenario, hoping to prevent every attack is a cuckoo. 
 
Are you saying it is a lost cause then? 
 
I am not saying it’s a lost cause. I am saying that when there is a proliferation of any phenomenon, collateral damage comes with it. 
 For example, sometimes safety measures can have their own collateral damage too. After <keyword id="43510" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="9/11">9/11</keyword> more people died of road accidents as there was a sharp escalation of road travel. This was because people were terrified to fly. The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize. If you choose not to get terrorised, then terrorist attack has no value. 
 
But it is not easy. Human being human will be terrorised if people start killing and kill without logic? 
 
Yes. I agree. 
 
Is enough being done by the Indian Intelligence and the Government to prevent a repeat of <keyword id="6426476" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="26/11">26/11</keyword> in 2015? 
 
It is a wrong question. Just 10 months before<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Is-India-better-prepared-for-an-ISIS-led-Mumbai-like-attack-The-answer-is-a-resounding-No/articleshow/49805008.cms"> 26/11</a>, France faced one of the most brutal terrorist attacks in its history. But that doesn’t mean we are to sack the entire France intelligence. 
 
If you want a guarantee, you buy a toaster. The Indian Intelligence is putting in best efforts. Out of 10 attempts, they will trap maybe nine. One will get through and that one will be a much more subdued version than the ones they have stopped. The government can take steps only up to a certain limit. As a democracy we should have certain checks and balances which would allow dissidents to express their dissent in private. But protecting one’s privacy would limit the access of data by the intelligence. These are prices we pay for being a democracy or for not being a police state. 
 
When you demand that we need better intelligence, you forget that better intelligence means access to more data. They are basically going to extend their tentacles into places where radicalisation is being done. 
 
They are doing more than they can do with the resources that they have. Every lakh rupee you take and put in combating terrorism, you are taking that rupee from healthcare, education, employment etc. A balance has to be made and in that balance terrorist attacks will happen and will kill every 100 people in a year. 
 
The Indian Armed Forces is often accused of being hypocrite, especially as it supports military junta in Myanmar. What is your say on this? 
 
In Myanmar, the Indian Government wants to support Aung-San-Suu-Kyi as her democratic values are like our democratic values. The Indian Armed Forces believes in democracy and yet they are supporting military junta. One fails to see the reason here. If they do not support Myanmar, she will seek help from China. Most of our neighbours have come under the influence of China and we cannot let Myanmar become another China. 
 
Personal opinion is often shaped by very shallow knowledge. What people do not understand is if you have an environment surrounded by hostile entities that is far bigger trouble. 
 
In the wake of the increasing Chinese incursions along our borders, the Indian Armed Forces is blamed. Where has the Indian army failed? 
 
It has not failed. It has areas, resource crunches and moral issues. They are doing their best. 
 
But for the Indian Armed Forces mistakes are permanent. How do they work in such an environment? 
 
No plan survives the first contact with enemy. Your plan is a general line of direction. Hence, plans have to be flexible enough and that is why the Indian Armed Forces need junior leadership who can make decisions and changes to the plans on the fly as per the situation changes. 
 
In such circumstances, sometimes the decisions fail and cost them their lives. 
 
The Indian Armed Forces faces death. From where do you get your courage? 
 
It is a mixture of many things. A sense of belonging to a regiment and rigorous training instil that within the people. There is a sense of nobility that pushes people to go beyond what their limits are. 
 
What made you join the army? 
 
You would find it funny but my story is quite similar to the movie ‘Lakshya’. I was in Delhi and I was in a fairly protected area. The first time world came crashing around us was 1984 riots. It was the first time we were exposed to an extreme kind of violence and mayhem. I had direct exposure and it racked me quite a bit. After three days of mayhem, the army brought order into the area. While I was still in that daze, I found that the army was the only institution that can bring order in complete chaos. I decided this is an organisation I want to join. 
 
It may sound like a corny Bollywood movie but I was actually standing in the crowd as a young boy and waiting for the army to bring some order to the chaos and to relieve the people who are so scared at that point of time. Just the sight of an olive green uniform was making people calm. 
 
Aren’t you scared of death at all? 
 
I think anybody who says that they are not afraid of death is a fool. It’s one thing to say I am not scared of death and it is another thing to see death coming. When you see deaths around you, there is no doubt that you are scared. 
 
Yes, the honest answer is, I am scared. And, I think any soldier is scared. But more than that, soldiers are scared of being handicapped. 
 
What are the things that you want to change within the Indian Armed Forces? 
 
More than the change within the Indian armed forces, I want a change in the fundamental thinking of the citizens. I want the Indian citizens to know more about their Indian Armed Forces. 
 
How accurate is the portrait of Indian Security Forces in Indian cinemas? 
 
I won’t say it is not in good light. It is not in an accurate light. Although ‘Prahaar’ was a good example.
