<ul class="summary-list"><li>A civil lawsuit alleges that <keyword id="10135687" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="catherine-mcbroom">Catherine McBroom</keyword> tried to stage a "coup" on a cosmetics company.</li><li>The complaint demands a jury trial and claims McBroom tried to dissolve the company.</li><li>McBroom is known for the "ACE Family" vlog channel on <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> with over 19 million subscribers.</li></ul><p>YouTuber Catherine McBroom of the "<keyword id="11599509" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-ace-family">The ACE Family</keyword>" attempted a "coup" of a company she launched with another business, according to allegations made in a civil complaint obtained by Insider. </p><p>The complaint, which demands a jury trial and compensation for damages, accuses McBroom of eight charges, including breach of contract and cybersquatting, in the Superior Court of California (Los Angeles). </p><p>McBroom, 30, runs the vlog-style YouTube channel "<a href="https://www.insider.com/austin-mcbroom-house-eviction-allegations-instagram-ace-family-2021-7">The ACE Family</a>," which has over 19 million subscribers, with her husband, the ex-professional basketball player <keyword id="10135688" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="austin-mcbroom">Austin McBroom</keyword>. The lawsuit was filed on April 12 by <keyword id="3395737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="TBL">TBL</keyword> Cosmetics, Inc. (TBL), a cosmetics company based in Delaware that "specializes in creating, building, and scaling cosmetics brands," according to the legal complaint.</p><p>The complaint alleges that on August 7, 2020, Catherine McBroom signed a contract with TBL to create 1212 Gateway, a "premium skin care line" with "ethically sourced" ingredients. The report claims the contract gave TBL the responsibility to perform day-to-day management, including running the online sales portals and accounts, while Catherine would be the "public face" who was "responsible for marketing the brand to her followers." </p><p>Under a section of the initial complaint titled "Catherine McBroom's Attempted Coup," TBL alleges that soon after 1212 Gateway began to grow and exceed its financial expectations, Catherine "conspired with her family, friends, and other under-utilized members or idle of her entourage to stage a takeover of 1212 Gateway's management."</p><p>Catherine, whose attorney did not immediately return a request for comment, denied "each and every allegation" in the complaint in a July 9 court filing reviewed by Insider. </p><p>Specifically, Catherine's attorney denied that TBL "sustained any injury, damage or harm" as a result of Catherine's actions and that TBL gave her consent for "all acts and occurrences alleged" in the complaint, which TBL denied in a subsequent response.</p><p>The existence of the complaint was first reported on by the drama account <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CRphLFMgNbu/">DefNoodles</a> in an Instagram post on Friday. </p><h2>The lawsuit accuses Catherine McBroom of changing account login information amid an alleged 'hostile takeover' </h2><p>The complaint says that on or around March 10, Catherine gained access to and changed the passwords of 1212 Gateway's primary email account, website, GoDaddy account, Shopify account, Instagram profile, and other social media accounts.</p><p>TBL had the "exclusive right and responsibility" to control these accounts because they were "among the 'tools and systems necessary to sell' Company products," the complaint says. According to the document, Catherine allegedly made "repeated assurances" that she would return the accounts to TBL, but never did.</p><p>The plaintiff claims that Catherine caused the company immediate damage when she allegedly took over the accounts. "After taking sole control over the Website, Ms. McBroom caused it to crash for two straight weeks," the complaint alleges.</p><div type="image" title="Austin and Catherine McBroom." height="504" width="672" msid="84695529" hostid="261"></div><p>The complaint also claims that 1212 Gateway experienced "volumes of negative customer feedback" since Catherine's alleged "hostile takeover."</p><p>The document also alleges that on April 7, Catherine threatened to unilaterally dissolve 1212 Gateway and "appoint herself to oversee the winding up of the Company's affairs and prohibit any person from engaging in any activity related to the business unless authorized by her," which TBL said "has no basis" in their agreement. </p><h2>Catherine threatened to dissolve the company, the lawsuit claims </h2><p>The complaint states that Catherine had specific demands for TBL, which they would need to follow within "a day and a half's time" or else the company would be dissolved.</p><p>The document alleges that she said via counsel that TBL must transfer the website to her, give her all the company's books and records, and replace the current CEO with a new one within five business days, among other demands.</p><p>Court records show that on April 12, TBL filed a request for a temporary restraining order against Catherine to prevent her from directing the dissolution of 1212 Gateway and inflicting "immediately and irreparable injury" to TBL.</p><p>On April 13, Catherine's attorneys filed an opposition document arguing that the application for a temporary restraining order was "moot" because 1212 Gateway had "already been dissolved" per McBroom's written consent within the required five days' notice.</p><p>In response, TBL filed a "notice in further support" of the restraining order. Austin and one of his companies were sued after a boxing event.</li></ul><p>The Ace Family is a vlog-style YouTube account with over 18 million subscribers. Launched in 2016, the channel revolves around the lives and antics of parents Austin and Catherine McBroom and their three young children. Individually, Austin and Catherine McBroom are successful social media influencers, with 6.5 and 7.3 million Instagram followers, respectively.</p><p>While the couple has seen huge success with their YouTube platform, they have been mired in legal and financial troubles, which has affected their reputation as influencers. </p><p>Most notably, they lost ownership of their $10.1 mansion in Los Angeles in October 2021, months after the family received a notice of default, <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-home-mansion-eviction-10-million-mcbroom-auctioned-foreclosure-2021-10">as Insider previously reported</a>.  </p><p>Here is a timeline of all the controversies the couple have been involved in since their rise to fame as a family vlogging channel.</p><h2><strong>A cosmetics company sued Catherine, accusing her of staging a 'coup'</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Catherine McBroom." height="601" width="802" msid="87215431" hostid="261"></div><p>The family's legal trouble dates back to at least April when the cosmetics start-up TBL Cosmetics filed a lawsuit against Catherine who, according to TBL Cosmetics, had signed a contract with the company to jointly found 1212 Gateway, a "premium skin care line" with ethically sourced ingredients, <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbroom-catherine-law-attempted-company-coup-legal-complaint-2021-7">Insider reported</a>. </p><p>According to TBLs complaint, Catherine was supposed to be the face of the company and promote it on social media while TBL would perform managerial operations and other behind-the-scenes work, but TBL alleged the YouTuber "conspired with her family, friends, and other under-utilized members or idle of her entourage to stage a takeover of 1212 Gateway's management," or effectively enact a "coup" against TBL.</p><p>TBL accused Catherine in a court filing of threatening to unilaterally dissolve 1212 Gateway in April after she allegedly changed the passwords to all of 1212 Gateway's accounts (email, website, social media, Shopify) in March.</p><p>Catherine denied all the allegations in a court filing she submitted in July, Insider reported. </p><p>According to <a href="https://www.lacourt.org/casesummary/ui/index.aspx?#CAS">court records,</a> the case is scheduled for a hearing on August 18.</p><h2><strong>Austin's company was sued after the '<keyword id="12369454" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="social-gloves" source="Orion">Social Gloves</keyword>' boxing event</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Bryce Hall and Austin McBroom fight during LiveXLive’s &quot;Social Gloves: Battle Of The Platforms&quot;" height="2142" width="2857" msid="87215432" hostid="261"></div><p>Catherine's husband, Austin, has also faced litigation. He and one of his companies, Simply Greatest Productions (SGP), were sued by the media company LiveXLive after they said their <keyword id="6355064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="celebrity" source="Orion">celebrity</keyword> boxing event went awry. </p><p>Held on June 12, "Social Gloves: Battle of the Platforms" pitted TikTokers like Bryce Hall and Vinnie Hacker against YouTubers such as Tanner Fox and Austin himself. Investors expected the boxing extravaganza to reel in $200 to $500 million in profit, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/austin-mcbroom-james-harden-lawsuits-youtubers-tiktokers-boxing-event-2021-8">Insider reported</a>. But Jeffrey Katz, a senior partner at Watkins &amp; Letofsky, LLP, the lead attorney representing LiveXLive, told <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/austin-mcbroom-lawsuit-fight-boxing-social-gloves-attorney-influencer-legal-2021-7">Insider</a> that the losses on the event ended up being substantial.</p><p>An ongoing legal battle has ensued between SGP and LiveXLive, whom Austin hired to help produce the event. SGP sued LiveXLive on July 21, alleging breach of contract and fraud and accusing the company of spending money that would not be returned and selling endorsements without informing SGP, Insider reported. </p><p>That same day, LiveXLive filed a return suit against the McBrooms for $100 million in damages. </p><p>Katz previously told Insider that the McBrooms and SGP "sold people a bag of lies" with the boxing event.</p><h2><strong>The McBrooms' umbrella company is also dealing with legal issues</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Austin McBroom and Catherine Paiz in their deleted video" height="1080" width="1440" msid="87215434" hostid="261"></div><p>Ace Hat Collection Inc., an umbrella company for the family run by Austin, has petitioned two separate construction businesses in the Los Angeles County Supreme Court to try to release mechanic's liens, Insider reported, citing Los Angeles court documents.</p><p><a href="https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/what-is-a-mechanics-lien.html?awc=21102_1634919583_ad3e87d692e8b1ab1f093c651b1aebca">Mechanic's liens</a> are legal documents often filed by contract construction workers who have not received payment for projects they completed. A judge denied one of Ace Hat Collection's petitions while the other is still awaiting a decision, Insider reported.</p><p>An attorney for Ace Hat Collection previously confirmed to Insider that he filed a notice of appeal on October 5 for a petition against a heavy-machinery business that currently has a mechanic's lien against the McBrooms' company. </p><h2><strong>The McBrooms lost ownership of their mansion</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="The McBrooms showed off their luxury vehicles outside their mega-mansion in September 2019." height="776" width="1038" msid="87215435" hostid="261"></div><p>The current saga with their house, dates back to May 2021, when a debt-collection company served them a <a href="https://datastore.netronline.com/preview/20210836630/1">notice of default</a> which stipulated that they had 90 days to pay back $8.7 million to a lender to whom the family owed money, Insider reported. </p><p>At that point, their house went into the legal state of <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/pre-foreclosure.asp#what-is-pre-foreclosure">"pre-foreclosure,"</a> which often comes when a homeowner hasn't made a certain amount of payments, according to the financial website Investopedia. Pre-foreclosure is the first stage in a process that can end with the house being taken away from the entity that's failing to make the payments. </p><p><a href="https://stox.quickbase.com/db/bk42uehek?a=dr&amp;rid=34630&amp;rl=e2y">An online sales listing</a> shows that the house was put on auction at a starting bid of just over $9 million on Tuesday, as Insider previously reported. After no one purchased the property at the sale, ownership was transferred to the beneficiary, 5 Arch Funding Corporation, property records show, Insider reported.</p><p>Although the house is currently now owned by that company, due to California's <a href="https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/foreclosure-book/chapter9-5.html?awc=21102_1634933730_92d002f1b630ba4aadba287283b7e3cc">nonjudicial foreclosure law</a>, 5 Arch Funding Corporation has to file and win an eviction lawsuit against the McBrooms if they want to force them to leave the property, Insider reported. The McBrooms can evade eviction by voluntarily leaving or resolving their debt to the company, Insider reported.</p><p>When Insider previously reached a lawyer for Ace Hat Collection by phone, they declined to comment on the status of the house or the foreclosure auction.</p><h2>Rumors about the foreclosure had swirled online previously</h2><p>Rumors about the McBrooms facing eviction and other financial trouble began to spread earlier this year after property records related to the foreclosure surfaced on the <a href="https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/the-ace-family.1148770/page-1193">gossip forum Lipstick Alley</a>, Insider reported.</p><p>Austin and Catherine have denied rumors circulating that they could be evicted from their house.</p><p>"Ain't nobody getting evicted, ain't nobody moving," Austin wrote on Instagram in July.</p><p>Catherine wrote on Snapchat later that month that the foreclosure rumors "made me appreciate how blessed I am."</p><p>The two have not commented on the situation since their house was auctioned on Tuesday. </p><p>They have continued to post YouTube videos on The ACE Family channel showing them playing with their pet dog, celebrating their three-year-old daughter's birthday, and driving upscale cars throughout the last few months of legal and financial tumult.</p><p>Representatives for the McBrooms have not responded to a request for comment. </p><h2><strong>Austin was sued by the city of Beverly Hills for hosting an unsanctioned parade </strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Screenshot of Austin and Catherine at the Parade." height="1553" width="2071" msid="92835754" hostid="261" sizebytes="115960"></div><p>On May 29, 2021, Austin and Catherine <a href="https://www.insider.com/austin-mcbroom-ace-family-lawsuits-beverly-hills-parade-sheeraz-2021-10">led a parade of fans down Rodeo Drive</a>. <keyword id="12361705" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="austin-mcbroom" source="Orion">Austin McBroom</keyword> and social media marketing executive Sheerez Hasan both posted a flyer on their social media accounts advertising the event, while the McBrooms were photographed leading the parade. The parade was also heavily documented on social media as what appeared to be hundreds of people showed up.</p><p><a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-05-30/fan-meetup-youtube-austin-mcbroom-shuts-rodeo-drive-no-arrests">The Los Angeles Times</a> reported that the event caused Rodeo Drive to shut down between 4:50 pm and 6:19 pm.</p><p>In October 2021, <a href="https://www.insider.com/austin-mcbroom-ace-family-lawsuits-beverly-hills-parade-sheeraz-2021-10">the city of Beverly Hills sued Austin McBroom</a> and Hasan, seeking $200,000 in monetary damages, alleging that the pair organized, promoted, and attended an unsanctioned event called the "YouTuber Takeover Parade." </p><p>The city also alleged that McBroom and Hasan failed to apply for a permit to host the parade within city limits. </p><p>The McBrooms have not shared an update on the case, and attorneys of record in the case did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.</p><h2><strong>The McBrooms moved into a new luxury mansion following the foreclosure of their previous home </strong></h2><p>On December 10, 2021, Austin and Catherine <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbrooms-new-house-tour-forclosure-2021-12#austin-demonstrated-the-houses-motion-sensor-lighting-when-walking-into-the-bathroom-12">revealed they were living in a new luxury home</a> in a YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsdGGeDWl_Q&amp;t=307s">video</a> titled, "OUR NEW HOUSE TOUR. *EXCLUSIVE*." </p><p>In the video, which has 4.4 million views, the McBrooms <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbrooms-new-house-tour-forclosure-2021-12#the-first-room-in-the-tour-was-the-childrens-playroom-2">tour</a> the new house, which had a home cinema with a popcorn machine, a pool, and a home gym. There was also a blue-lit waterfall display with real running water in the McBrooms' dining room. </p><p>According to the pair, the tour only showed approximately half the house because some areas were unfinished, and they wanted to keep some aspects of the house hidden from viewers. </p><p>"We are trying to keep this house as private as it can be," Austin said in the video. </p><h2><strong>The McBrooms announced plans to host a festival for fans — and that they would quit YouTube at the end of 2022 </strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="A picture of Austin and Catherine McBroom" height="1485" width="1980" msid="92835755" hostid="261" sizebytes="45780"></div><p>On March 19, the McBrooms posted a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJiY3Zlpm78">YouTube video</a> titled "THE END OF THE ACE FAMILY ON YOUTUBE," in which they revealed plans to quit YouTube at the end of 2022 to travel and spend time with family. </p><p>They also announced they'd be hosting an event called "The Ace Family Fest," where fans would be able to meet them and enjoy free rides and games. </p><p>The event website described the festival as "Disneyland meets Coachella," and said that two VIP ticket holders would be given an invite to Austin and Catherine's wedding, which was set to take place at the end of 2022. </p><p>Ticket packages for the event were announced at $299 for three people and $499 for a VIP package for five people, which included the opportunity to meet Austin and Catherine at a meet-and-greet, according to the event's <a href="https://theacefamilyfest.com/a/faq">website</a>. Initially, individual tickets weren't sold for the event, but one YouTuber who live streamed the event <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teyqcTdGC_I&amp;t=452s">said he bought a single ticket at the door for $121</a>. </p><p>For context, the price of a one-day pass to Disneyland starts at $104. </p><p>"Please don't miss out, this may be the last ace family event!" the festival website <a href="https://theacefamilyfest.com/">said</a>. </p><p>Representatives for Austin and Catherine McBroom did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment about the festival. </p><h2><strong>Concerns about 'The Ace Family Fest' began to swirl online </strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="A picture of Austin and Catherine in front of a ferris wheel." height="835" width="1670" msid="92835756" hostid="261" sizebytes="40610"></div><p>In the months leading up to the festival, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVL4B_0Y2IU">various</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM6HCq0Rt9E">YouTube</a> drama channels – who typically post updates and speculation about internet gossip – expressed concerns about the McBrooms' plans for their event. </p><p>Several worried that the Ace Family would not have enough time to plan and pull off the festival — which was originally slated to take place in August.</p><p>The fest was then moved up to July with no explanation. </p><p>In a YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov0OMhigk8U&amp;t=205s">video</a> posted on July 8, Austin and Cathering filmed themselves standing in front of a ferris wheel, announcing the festival would take place the following day. Austin addressed previous criticism of the event, saying, "For the people that said our festival was a scam or that it wasn't happening, you guys can suck a fat donut, OK, because it's happening." </p><h2><strong>Drama YouTubers who attended the festival said it was 'disappointing' </strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="A screenshot of an empty ride" height="1343" width="1791" msid="92835757" hostid="261" sizebytes="152392"></div><p>The "Ace Family Fest" took place on July 9 in Lancaster, California, and according to the McBrooms, who <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPmiRarJ2QI">filmed themselves</a> meeting fans at a meet and greet event, thousands of people were in attendance. </p><p>On Twitter, discussion around the event was overwhelmingly negative, as several high-profile drama YouTubers, such as <a href="https://twitter.com/defnoodles">Defnoodles</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/SwellEntertainment/videos">Swell Entertainment</a>, attended the event and posted pictures of what it was like from their perspective. Their reviews left many people on social media saying the festival <a href="https://twitter.com/Isle_of_Lesbos/status/1546147989575663618">looked</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/AhsokaisRare/status/1545955440013545478">"disappointing."</a> </p><p>Other social media users and drama YouTubers documented <a href="https://twitter.com/saltysaltysalts/status/1545865932786073600">"crazy" expensive</a> food items, and <a href="https://twitter.com/luvu2golka/status/1545826435411021824">long</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/valxreb/status/1545908844571664384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1545908844571664384%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.insider.com%2Face-family-festival-disappointing-photos-food-heat-queues-2022-7">outdoor</a> queues in the <a href="https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1545937626565267457">"blistering"</a> heat before the McBrooms <a href="https://twitter.com/luvu2golka/status/1545893963755794432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1545893963755794432%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.insider.com%2Face-family-festival-disappointing-photos-food-heat-queues-2022-7">moved their meet and greet inside</a>. </p><p>However, one drama YouTuber, <a href="https://twitter.com/spillseshYT">Spill Sesh</a> noted that she was impressed by how much time the McBrooms spent with their fans. </p><p>"I think that they were great in their meet and greet," Spill Sesh said in her review of the festival. Obviously, there's more eyes on us, so there's negativity that comes with it, and we're used to it," she said. </p><p>The couple also said they are considering hosting a similar event again in the future. </p><p>The McBrooms appeared to anticipate negative reviews of the festival in the weeks leading up to it. In a YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsd7aOZwmJo">video</a> posted on June 10, Austin and Catherine warned viewers that drama channels would likely post negative reviews of the event, as they had done after previous Ace Family events.</p><p>"Don't click these drama channels, don't click these news outlets, because they're just trying to get you to click," Austin said. Ace Family's year from hell: The controversial YouTube family channel faced foreclosure, lawsuits, and widespread criticism of their latest venture

Ola raises half a billion dollars in debt to fuel its food delivery and quick commerce dream

The family, which includes two daughters (ages 3 and 5) and a 1-year-old son, moved into a massive $10.1 million Los Angeles mansion in 2019 that's featured in most of their videos.</p><p>But property records obtained by Insider show their idyllic lifestyle could be in financial peril.</p><p>The McBrooms serve as CEO and secretary of Ace Hat Collection Inc., the umbrella company for <keyword id="12361704" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="the-ace-family" source="Orion">the ACE Family</keyword>. <a href="https://datastore.netronline.com/preview/20210836630/1">Public property records show</a> that Ace Hat Collection signed a deed of trust - a legal agreement between a lender, a borrower, and a trustee - for the Los Angeles property on July 19, 2019.</p><p>By May 2021, the property was at risk of <keyword id="12361707" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="foreclosure" source="Orion">foreclosure</keyword>, in a legal stage known as preforeclosure. On October 19, it was returned to the beneficiary - a legally designated entity that receives benefits from financial products - when it did not receive bids at a public foreclosure auction. In this case, the beneficiary is a financial lender called 5 Arch Funding Corporation.</p><p>The McBrooms no longer own the home, the records show. However, because of California's <a href="https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/foreclosure-book/chapter9-5.html">nonjudicial foreclosure law</a>, 5 Arch Funding Corporation would need to file and win an eviction lawsuit to make them leave the property - so they won't be evicted if they voluntarily leave or pay their remaining debt. Otherwise, a lengthy legal eviction process could take place.</p><div type="image" title="The McBrooms showed off their luxury vehicles outside their mega-mansion in September 2019." height="776" width="1834" msid="87195144" hostid="261"></div><p>When reached by phone, a lawyer representing Ace Hat Collection - the McBrooms' company - said he couldn't comment on the foreclosure auction or the status of the estate. Other representatives for the McBrooms didn't respond to requests for comment.</p><p>The property's trustee, the debt-collection company California TD Specialists, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>With their millions of YouTube subscribers, the McBrooms have been the subject of online chatter for years regarding their lavish lifestyle. The first online source to surface property records related to their foreclosure was a gossip forum <a href="https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/the-ace-family.1148770/page-1193">called Lipstick Alley</a> that speculated earlier in the year that the McBrooms were in financial trouble.</p><h2>A document suggesting their home was in trouble leaked in July 2021</h2><div type="image" title="Austin and Catherine McBroom at the boxing event." height="731" width="1024" msid="87195145" hostid="261"></div><p>According to a <a href="https://datastore.netronline.com/preview/20210836630/1">notice of default</a> issued by a debt-collection company and served to the McBroom residence on May 21, they had 90 days to pay back $8.7 million they owed their lender. Then, on August 30, a <a href="https://datastore.netronline.com/preview/20211341492/1">notice of trustee's sale</a> was sent to the McBrooms that stated their property would be up for sale at a public auction for an estimated $9.3 million.</p><p>The debt-collection company's notice leaked online in July, following revelations that Ace Hat Collection was approved for a $108,332 federal loan from the Paycheck Protection Program in May 2020, according to <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/loans/ace-hat-collection-8285837300">ProPublica's database</a> of beneficiaries of the program. Ace Hat Collection used $20,000 of the loan to pay off mortgage interest in 2020, the ProPublica database shows.</p><p>Both Austin and Catherine McBroom denied rumors they would be evicted.</p><p>"Ain't nobody getting evicted, ain't nobody moving," Austin <a href="https://www.insider.com/austin-mcbroom-house-eviction-allegations-instagram-ace-family-2021-7">wrote on Instagram</a> on July 8, the day after the notice of default leaked online. "Stop believing everything you see the haters say on the internet!"</p><p><a href="https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/catherine-paiz-hits-back-at-rumors-of-foreclosure-on-7-million-ace-family-home-1615763/">Catherine McBroom wrote</a> on Snapchat on July 19 that the chatter around her house's foreclosure was a "blessing."</p><p>"All the false narratives and untrue rumors have been a blessing in disguise," she wrote. "They made me appreciate how blessed I am and get closer to God. I feel so alive!"</p><h2>The McBrooms' $10 million mansion moved to foreclosure in 2021</h2><p>An <a href="https://stox.quickbase.com/db/bk42uehek?a=dr&amp;rid=34630&amp;rl=e2yp;rl=e2y">online listing</a> for the auction says the property was listed at a starting bid of $9.07 million on October 19 and was returned to the beneficiary after the auction. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74N2GfaP2dM">Video footage</a> of the auction was captured by a YouTuber called Static Jon.</p><p>No bids were entered in the auction, which requires bidders to put down the total sum of cash on the spot, according to California <a href="https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/timeline-nonjudicial-foreclosure.html">nonjudicial foreclosure law</a>.</p><p>In his video, Jon asked an auction attendee whether it was normal for homes like the McBrooms' to go on sale.</p><p>"Nine million?" she responded. "No, that's not normal for these guys."</p><h2>The McBrooms are involved in a slew of other lawsuits</h2><div type="image" title="Austin McBroom and Catherine Paiz in their deleted video" height="1080" width="1920" msid="87195146" hostid="261"></div><p>The foreclosure on their megamansion is just the latest scandal that's plagued the ACE Family.</p><p><keyword id="12361705" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="austin-mcbroom" source="Orion">Austin McBroom</keyword>'s company Simply Greatest Productions was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/austin-mcbroom-james-harden-lawsuits-youtubers-tiktokers-boxing-event-2021-8">sued</a> by the media company LiveXLive. A lawyer for LiveXLive <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/austin-mcbroom-james-harden-lawsuits-youtubers-tiktokers-boxing-event-2021-8">told Insider</a> that McBroom's boxing event was built on a "stack of lies." LiveXLive asked for $100 million in its suit, alleging a failure to fulfill contracts.</p><p>Catherine McBroom <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbroom-catherine-law-attempted-company-coup-legal-complaint-2021-7">was sued</a> by TBL Cosmetics Inc., a manufacturing company that created and distributed 1212 Gateway. The civil complaint against her, viewed by Insider, alleged that McBroom staged a "coup" of the skincare brand in an effort to stop TBL Cosmetics from profiting from 1212 Gateway.</p><p>Ace Hat Collection has also petitioned two separate construction companies this year in the Los Angeles County Superior Court system to try to release mechanic's liens, which are <a href="https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/what-is-a-mechanics-lien.html">typically filed by contractors</a> who never received payment for a completed project or supplies they provided. One petition was denied by a judge; the other is awaiting judgment.</p><p>A lawyer representing Ace Hat Collection confirmed to Insider that on October 5 he filed a notice of appeal on behalf of the <a href="http://www.lacourt.org/casesummary/ui/casesummary.aspx?casetype=familylaw">company's civil petition</a> against a heavy-machinery company that holds a mechanical lien over Ace Hat Collection.</p><p>The McBrooms have not yet addressed foreclosure discussions publicly. Austin McBroom hasn't posted to Instagram since June 20, while Catherine McBroom most recently posted an ad for her Poshmark page, where she sells her used clothes.</p>

The ACE Family lost ownership of their $10 million mansion and could face eviction

<ul><li> <keyword id="2808667" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO">OYO</keyword> has announced that it received commitments of close to $1 billion from leading investors.</li><li>Fidelity, Citadel Capital Management and Varde Partners have reportedly participated in the round.</li><li><keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword>’s Rajeev Misra has announced that OYO was nearing a breakeven point last year as its revenue and expenses dropped.</li></ul>Hotels and hospitality company OYO has raised $660 million in debt from undisclosed institutional investors as the Gurugram-based startup continues to grapple with the pandemic. <br /><br />The funding has been raised through the Term Loan B (TLB) route, the firm said in a statement.<br /><br />TBL is a term loan made by institutional investors whose primary goals are maximising the long-term total returns on their investments. <br /><br />The company, in its press note, highlighted that its debt financing offer was oversubscribed by 1.7 times and it has received commitments of close to $1 billion from leading investors.<br /><br />The company did not disclose the investors. However, an ET <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/startups/eye-on-revival-oyo-secures-660-million-debt/articleshow/84459901.cms">report</a> citing sources has highlighted that Fidelity, Citadel Capital Management and Varde Partners have participated in the round.<br /><br />JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and Mizuho Securities have served as the lead arranger for this financing.<br /><br />The financing will help OYO to repay past debts, strengthen balance sheets and boost the product technology. "Oyo is well capitalised and on the path of achieving profitability. Our two largest markets have demonstrated profitability at the slightest signs of industry recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic," the company’s chief financial officer Abhishek Gupta has said.<br /><br />The year 2020 has been pretty bad for the entire hotel and hospitality industry, as the world stepped into a lockdown with COVID-cases on the rise. This year was expected to be somewhat better, but the destruction caused by the second wave of the pandemic made matters worse.<br /><br />OYO’s founder Ritesh Agarwal had come on record in April 2020, confirming that the company recorded a 50 to 60% drop in OYO’s occupancy rate and revenues. However, chief executive of <keyword id="11654262" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="softbank-investment-advisers-rajeev-misra">SoftBank Investment Advisers Rajeev Misra</keyword>, in September 2020, <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/startups/newsbuzz/clampdown-on-chinese-investments-indian-startups-will-miss-the-know-how-says-softbanks-rajeev-misra/articleshow/78280038.cms">highlighted</a> that OYO’s revenue was at about 30% of its pre-Covid levels.<br /><br />Misra, during ET Global Business Summit held in September 2020, also noted that was nearing a breakeven point as its monthly expenses and revenue dropped down to around $30 million. OYO raised $660 million in debt funding to repay past debts

The mother of three made the announcement in a cryptic Snapchat story on Wednesday but has yet to post about the announcement on another platform. </p><p>In a graphic shared on Snapchat, McBroom said topics in her videos would include spiritual subjects like God, religion, manifestation, and spirit guides. She also included more traditional vlog topics like skin care, pregnancy, clothing hauls, makeup tutorials, and "Storytime" videos.</p><p>Also included in the graphic were more surprising subjects like "Ayahuasca," a <a href="https://www.vox.com/first-person/2018/2/19/16739386/ayahuasca-retreat-psychedelic-hallucination-meditation">psychoactive brew</a> originating from Amazonian cultures that can cause an altered state of consciousness, hallucinations, and vomiting.</p><p>McBroom is known as one of YouTube's biggest "mommy vloggers," starring alongside her husband, ex-NCAA basketball player Austin, and their children, Elle, Alaia, and Steel. Their family channel has over 19 million subscribers.</p><p>Catherine and Austin, who is 29, have been uploading to YouTube since 2016. Since then, their vlogs have been viewed more than 4 billion times.</p><div type="image" title="Catherine McBroom announced she would launch a solo YouTube channel." height="1348" width="2332" msid="85112773" hostid="261"></div><p>While the McBrooms make content aimed at children and families, they have also promoted <a href="https://www.intheknow.com/post/ace-family/">a slew of failed businesses and sketchy charities</a>, including an ACE Family app whose developers Austin said "scammed" him and his fans and a $100,000 charity fund that turned out to be one $75,000 donation.</p><p>Catherine, 30, even launched her own skincare line, 1212 Gateway, off the family's social media fame. But <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbroom-catherine-law-attempted-company-coup-legal-complaint-2021-7">a civil complaint</a> obtained by Insider, filed on April 12 by TBL Cosmetics, Inc., alleges that Catherine attempted "a coup" of the cosmetics company that violated the terms of her contract. She prefaced it by saying, "I'm just going to spit it out."</p><p>"I wish I could just sit here and talk to you guys about life," Catherine said in the video. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Footage of the <keyword id="12118777" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ace-family" source="Orion">Ace Family</keyword> has been circulating online, and it appears to be an unedited vlog clip.</li><li>It shows Austin McBroom coaching his wife, Catherine Paiz, on what to say. </li><li>The couple have been embroiled in legal disputes over the past year. </li></ul><p>The <keyword id="11894124" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="youtube" source="Orion">YouTube</keyword> family vloggers the Ace Family are facing backlash after footage of what appears to be an unedited vlog circulated online.</p><p>The footage was first reuploaded at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XA5zNUZNP0">multiple</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXA_E75WGbo">channels</a>. Insider was unable to confirm when or if the footage was first posted by the Ace Family. </p><p>Austin McBroom, Catherine Paiz, and their three children have been the stars of vlogs on YouTube since the channel was created in 2016. The family, which has 19 million subscribers, posts vlogs of themselves living their daily lives in a supermansion in California.</p><p>"So what do you want to say," Paiz says to McBroom, who then instructs her to end the vlog, saying their 1-year-old son, Steel, "is now up." Paiz responds, "I know, I get it."</p><p>Paiz then goes on to talk about how their new dog Ace had "nibbled" on Steel while the family was outside. </p><p>"No, we don't show his face. Just say we will show them a picture of what it looks like," McBroom says after Paiz tries to show Steel on camera. Steel has no obvious marks or blemishes in the video. </p><p>A video was uploaded to their channel on Thursday afternoon with the title "OUR NEW DOG BIT OUR BABY!   **SCARY MOMENT**," which includes 20 seconds of the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJMyBTkZZdg">leaked footage</a>. There was no reference or footage of McBroom coaching Paiz on what to say in the new video, but the pair were wearing the same clothing.  </p><p>On Twitter, a clip of McBroom responding to their new dog when it started to lightly bite on his hand prompted users to suggest he had been "hitting" the puppy.</p><p>This isn't the first time the Ace Family has appeared to upload an unedited vlog. <a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-video-austin-mcbroom-yell-catherine-leaked-clip-2020-10">In October</a>, the channel posted a "day in the life" video. In it, McBroom appeared to rehearse his introduction before yelling at Paiz that his hair looks messed up. "I'm not feeling it like this, so just go," he said. </p><p>At the time, Paiz addressed the clip on Twitter, writing: "Austin and I get frustrated with each other sometimes it's called marriage."</p><p>The pair are also dealing with legal troubles. In June, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/austin-mcbroom-lawsuit-fight-boxing-social-gloves-attorney-influencer-legal-2021-7">McBroom headlined</a> and produced a boxing event with his company Simply Greatness Productions and LiveXLive, which are now suing each other after the event failed to live up to financial expectations. </p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/ace-family-mcbroom-catherine-law-attempted-company-coup-legal-complaint-2021-7">In July</a>, Paiz was accused in a legal complaint of staging a "coup" on the company TBL Cosmetics, which she had partnered with to create a skin-care line. That same month, <a href="https://www.dirt.com/gallery/entertainers/influencers/ace-family-house-los-angeles-foreclosure-1203390425/">Dirt</a> reported that the pair faced foreclosure on their $15 million Los Angeles mansion after failing to make mortgage payments. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sam Greenwood/Getty</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Though it's unclear when we'll next see him on a golf course, Tiger Woods has nevertheless managed to capture all the golf headlines this week.</p><p>First, reports suggested that Woods' recovery from his latest back surgery were not going well, and that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tiger-woods-condition-has-worsened-no-return-in-sight-2016-2">he could barely walk </a>without feeling pain. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tiger-woods-practicing-swing-video-2016-2">Two days later</a>, Woods posted a 13-second video to Instagram of himself swinging a 9-iron on an indoor golf simulator with the caption: "Progressing nicely."</p><p>Whether the 40 year-old, 14-time Major winner will return in time for the Masters is still very much up in the air. And given his recent form, even if Woods were to return, it would be highly unlikely that he provided much of a challenge for Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and the rest of the new generation of golfers that has taken the game by storm.</p><p>According to Phil Mickelson, however, none of these young superstars are anywhere near the level of play Woods reached during the peak of his career.</p><p><span>"There is nobody in the game that I have seen that is remotely close to the level of performance Tiger was in his prime," Mickelson said in an interview with <a href="http://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/exclusive-qa-phil-mickelson-reflects-his-new-swing-big-four-and-what-sets-tiger-apart">Golf.com</a>. </span><span>"Mentally, short game, or ball striking, I don't think anybody matches him in any of those areas. And Tiger put them all together in one to create a career that is mind-boggling in the game of golf."</span></p><p><span>The total package bit is key. </span><span>Even considering the vast amounts of talent currently on tour, no one player seems to quite have it <em>all</em> in the same way Woods did. Which is why it's so hard to believe anyone can match the Tiger Slam, or put together an extended run as historically great as Woods' in the early 2000s. </span></p><p><span>But so what?</span></p><p>As <a href="http://thebiglead.com/2016/02/24/phil-mickelson-says-nobody-in-golf-is-remotely-close-to-the-level-of-tiger-woods/">Michael Shamburger writes in TBL</a>, there are still plenty of terrific golfers on tour these days. One could argue there are more great golfers than when Woods put together his run. From Shamburger:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>Will they ever reach Tiger's level? Here's why.&#xa0;</p><h2>Workers have been asking for change</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>As of Wednesday, when Business Insider first reported about the sharps boxes, more than 3,700 people had signed a petition on Coworker.org, calling for Starbucks to place needle-disposal boxes in high-risk bathrooms.</p><p>"My coworkers and I had all experienced needles left behind in the bathroom, store, and even in our drive-thru," said one person who signed the petition after working at a Starbucks location in Lynnwood, Washington, for three years.&#xa0;</p><p>"My primary fear when I worked there would be taking out the bathroom garbages," the former employee, who quit in 2018, told Business Insider. "I was terrified that if I went to take the bag out, I would get poked by a needle I didn't know was there."</p><p>On social media, workers shared similar experiences in which a lack of sharps boxes contributed to a dangerous work environment.&#xa0;</p><p>Store workers are often the most in-touch with what needs to change at massive restaurant-industry giants. In this case, many baristas were calling for Starbucks to install sharps boxes.&#xa0;</p><p>For Starbucks to ignore workers' demands would be to ignore a massive problem that could endanger employees. Employees said what needed to be done, and the company listened.&#xa0;</p><h2>It isn't just for people injecting illegal drugs&#xa0;</h2><p>While the opioid epidemic has certainly contributed to the rise of improperly disposed-of needles, some of the people celebrating the change are those who inject drugs for medical reasons.&#xa0;</p><p>Diabetics often have to carry used syringes, which are used to inject insulin, and lancets, which test their blood glucose, around until they return home or find a place to properly dispose of the sharps.&#xa0;</p><h2>A lack of sharps boxes hasn't stopped people from doing drugs in Starbucks' bathrooms</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>Concerns about installing sharps boxes ignore an actual, existing problem: People already are using drugs in the bathrooms and not disposing of needles in a safe manner.&#xa0;</p><p><span>In a study led by Brett Wolfson-Stofko for New York University's Center for Drug Use and HIV Research,&#xa0;</span><a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27768996">58% of the 86 New York City business managers surveyed</a><span>&#xa0;said they had encountered drug use in their businesses' bathrooms. Another Center for Drug Use and HIV Research study of 15 service-industry workers found that a significant majority had encountered drug use, syringes, or both in bathrooms while on the job.</span></p><p>According to Wolfson-Stofko, there has been minimal research into how Starbucks' policy to allow people to use bathrooms without paying for food or drinks may have impacted safety. More generally, he said that most bathroom policies - such as keeping doors locked or providing unlock codes on receipts - simply give workers an "illusion of control."</p><p>"Even before Starbucks said anyone could use the bathroom, that was not deterring people who would inject drugs," Wolfson-Stofko said.</p><p>Starbucks could have chosen to ignore workers' demands and try to avoid controversy.
