Head of <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>’ commercial vehicles division <keyword id="1110070" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ravindra-Pisharody">Ravindra Pisharody</keyword> quit due to personal reasons. Pisharody, who held Executive Director’s (Commercial Vehicles) post since 2012, had joined Tata Motors as Vice President Commercial Vehicles (Sales &amp; Marketing) in 2007. His resignation comes at a time when Tata Motors has witnessed sales of its commercial vehicles slowing down in the domestic market. The company's CV sales grew by just 0.45 per cent to 3,05,620 units in 2016-17. In May 2017, the company's overall commercial vehicles sales in the domestic market were at 23,606 units, down 13 per cent from the same month last year. Prior to joining Tata Motors, Pisharody was with Castrol Ltd, a subsidiary of BP. He had also worked with Philips India in various roles.

As part of the MoU inked between the parties, 250 new fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles would be set up across the country. Strategically located in and around over 50 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi, among others, these new charging stations will significantly increase the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, Tata Motors said in a statement. Basis its understanding of the commercial EV movement, the commercial vehicle major will recommend optimal locations and nearest dealerships for setting up the fast-charging stations, the company said. While Delta Electronics will supply the necessary hardware, Thunderplus Solutions will install and operate them, it added. E-commerce companies, parcel and courier service providers, among other industries, are increasing the adoption of commercial EVs for last-mile deliveries. "Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles and improve vehicle uptime, resulting in higher revenues and better profitability, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener environment," Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Vice President and Business Head -- SCV &amp; PU -- Vinay Pathak said. Currently, Tata Motors sells Ace EVs to cater to various last-mile delivery requirements. The model is supported by over 150 electric vehicle service centres across the country. Tata Motors ties up with two firms to expand charging infra for electric CVs

New Delhi, <keyword id="9550876" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-major-tata-motors-group">Automobile major Tata Motors Group</keyword>, including <keyword id="6354362" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaguar-Land-Rover">Jaguar Land Rover</keyword>, on Friday reported a plunge of 64 per cent in <keyword id="9550877" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-wholesales-q1fy21">global wholesales Q1FY21</keyword> on a year-on-year basis. According to the group, global wholesales of all <keyword id="42747" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword>' commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range in Q1 FY21 declined by 89 per cent to 11,598 units over Q1 FY20. "Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in Q1 FY21 were at 79,996, lower by 49 per cent compared with Q1 FY20," the company said in a statement on Friday. Furthermore, global wholesales for Jaguar <keyword id="44719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Land-Rover">Land Rover</keyword> stood at 65,425 vehicles. "Jaguar wholesales for the quarter were 17,971 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales for the quarter were 47,454 vehicles," the statement said. --IANS rv/sn/tsb

Tata Motors reports 64% decline in group global wholesales in the first-quarter

<keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has forayed in the South East Asian market by tying up with <keyword id="13486" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vietnam">Vietnam</keyword>'s <keyword id="2852777" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TMT-Joint-Stock-Company">TMT Joint Stock Company</keyword>. Tata Motors has confirmed about it’s collaboration with the Vietnamese company, which will facilitate its distribution, supply and technology licence agreements. 
As per a news report by The Economic Times, the agreements will enable TMT to become the distributor of selected Tata Motors commercial vehicles, as well as expand its vehicle assembly business and distribution network in Vietnam. 
 
As part of the pact, Tata Motors will supply completely knocked down (CKD) and completely built unit (CBU) vehicles to TMT in Vietnam, enabling TMT to further strengthen its position, in the local automotive industry.

Tata Motors has entered Vietnam market

Known for its heavy duty trucks, buses and passenger vehicles, Tata Motors is foraying into the arena of defence where it has smelt the opportunity of earning whopping revenues. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Shares-of-Tata-Motors-are-surging-Know-why/articleshow/48187327.cms">At a time when its shares are surging</a>, it is transitioning from just providing logistic support to supplying combat vehicles including front line combat vehicles, as per a news report by The Economic Times. Simultaneously, the company <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Tata-Motorsto-triple-its-commercial-vehicles-export/articleshow/48176534.cms">is planning to open up new overseas markets through the hub-and-spoke model</a> in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asean and Latin America. 
 
The company is building tie ups with the brands well recognized in the defence segment, including SUPACAT, a UK-based high mobility vehicle specialist. This will supposedly provide technical assistance for its Light Armoured Multi-role Vehicle (LAMV) project, a combat vehicle based on a defence ministry programme. The company also has collaborated with Malaysian-based DRB-HICOM for import, distribution and assembly of Tata Motors' commercial vehicles and defence range in Malaysia, a step towards expanding into the international market, confirms the ET report. 
 
Besides, the LAMV and its upgrade programmes include missiles carriers, mine protected vehicles, main battle tanks and infantry combat vehicles, Tata has also developed the WHAP (Wheeled Armoured Amphibious Platform). 
Defence business is expected to account for 15 % of its total revenues, a 5 times jump from 3 % at present, and exports volumes to increase to 150,000 units from about 50,000 in 2014-15. 
 
"The potential is very large...10 % is not a good number, our defence business can be much bigger than 15 per cent in the future," Ravindra Pisharody, executive director and head of commercial vehicle business at Tata Motors told the ET. Pisharody was referring to Rs 900 crore order that Tata Motors secured from the Indian Army for supplying 1,200 trucks for material handling cranes for loading, unloading and transportation of ammunition pallets, spares and other operational equipment. 
 
Not only India, the Indian multinational automaker has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Tata-Motors-has-entered-Vietnam-market/articleshow/47298143.cms">supplied defence vehicles in markets including the ASEAN, SAARC and Africa</a>. The company recently received an order from Myanmar for about 500 units and it completed deliveries for 520 defence vehicles to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali.
