I tried backing up several computers and laptops on a local network and noticed that the process was seamless. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> To test the Synology DS1621+, I employed two 8TB drives without M.2 NVMe cache, coupled with 4GB of RAM to begin with. The NAS was connected to a gigabit network during the testing, making it a breeze to upload and download large files. Synology DiskStation DS1621+ review – a compact NAS with power-packed performance

Heatwaves similar to those experienced in May in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword> are almost 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than the warmest <keyword id="20715549" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="heat-wave" source="keywords">heat wave</keyword>s previously observed in the country, according to a new rapid attribution study by an independent group of climate scientists and researchers. The analysts at ClimaMeter said the intense and prolonged heat wave India endured in May was a result of the naturally occurring El Nino phenomenon -- unusual warming of the ocean surface in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean -- and the rapidly increasing concentration of <keyword id="20649149" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="greenhouse-gases" source="keywords">greenhouse gases</keyword> -- primarily carbon dioxide and methane -- in the atmosphere. The researchers analyzed how events similar to the high <keyword id="19929810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="temperature" source="keywords">temperature</keyword> in India's May heatwave changed in the present (2001-2023) compared to what they would have looked like if they had occurred in the past (1979-2001). "The temperature changes show that similar events produce temperatures in the present climate at least 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than what they would have been in the past over a large area of the region analyzed. The precipitation changes do not show any significant variations," the analysis read. "ClimaMeter's findings underscore that heatwaves in India are reaching unbearable temperature thresholds because of fossil fuels burning," said Davide Faranda of French National Centre for Scientific Research. "There are no technological solutions for adapting Indian metropoles for temperatures approaching 50 degrees Celsius. We should all act now to reduce <keyword id="19909902" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CO2-emissions" source="keywords">CO2 emissions</keyword> and avoid exceeding vital temperature thresholds in large areas of the subtropics," he said. May 2024 was the warmest May ever and the last 12 consecutive months - June 2023 to May 2024 - have broken temperature records for each corresponding month, according to the European climate agency Copernicus. Northwest India and parts of the central region reeled under a punishing heatwave in May which tested India's disaster preparedness, with several states reporting heat-related deaths. There are concerns that heat waves in April and May have played a role in the lower-than-usual voter turnout during the seven-phase general elections in India that began on April 19 and ended on June 1, the second longest after the 1951-52 parliamentary elections. According to the Central Water Commission, water storage in 150 major reservoirs in India dropped to just 22 per cent of their live storage this week, exacerbating water shortages in many states and significantly affecting hydropower generation. The intense heat has already driven India's power demand to a record 246 gigawatts, with air conditioners and coolers in homes and offices running at full capacity. India recorded nearly 25,000 suspected heat stroke cases and 56 deaths due to heat-related illnesses from March to May, PTI reported earlier, citing data from the health ministry. According to data compiled by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 46 of these deaths were recorded in May alone (till May 30). Between May 1 and 30, 19,189 suspected heat stroke cases were reported in the country, it said. The data does not include deaths from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi, and the final numbers are expected to be higher, a source said. May heat wave in India 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than warmest heat wave

The Synology DiskStation DS220+ is an entry-level NAS that comes with enough storage and power for basic users, especially at home. It was launched in September 2020 in India. Synology is a Taiwan-based company and was founded in 2000. It specialises in network-attached storage devices. I have been using the DS220+ for a few weeks now and here is my detailed review. Let’s understand NAS Before I dive into the review, let’s first understand what NAS is. As the name suggests, it is storage that is attached to the network – in this case, your local network or the internet. <div type="image" title="Network-attached storage" msid="81202628" hostid="261"></div> Connecting storage to a network allows you to remotely access it. So, for example, if your NAS is at your home and you are on a vacation, you can transfer your photos to the NAS remotely and not worry about running out of storage on your phone. This also ensures your photos and files are safe in case you lose your phone. Simply put, it is your private cloud storage, so you have complete control over it. As an added bonus, you only have to pay for it, once. However, as is the case with everything that is connected to the internet, using a NAS also carries its own risks. It is worth noting that you should set a strong password for the admin account during the setup. There are additional options in the interface to further strengthen the security, but the defaults work fine with Synology. But the storage limit aside, neither of these options offer the smart features that Google Photos does. The first option is to backup your photos to your computer, or an external hard disk. While it can be done wirelessly via file sharing, remote backups are difficult. Synology NAS (network-attached storage) can be a good alternative, but the entry cost can be a little high. The upcoming DSM 7.0 update with Synology Photos is promising and comes with some basic features like grouping photos based on people, places and tags. The sharp rebound in stock markets follows Tuesday's mayhem which wiped out over ₹31 lakh crore of investors' wealth in a single day as markets crashed after poll results lagged its expectations. On Friday, the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 1,720.8 points or 2.29 per cent to hit a new record peak of 76,795.31 in day trade. The benchmark ended at 76,693.36, up 1,618.85 points or 2.16 per cent. The NSE <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> settled with a jump of 468.75 points or 2.05 per cent at 23,290.15. Following the remarkable recovery in equities, the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies went up by ₹28,65,742.36 crore to ₹4,23,49,447.63 crore (USD 5.08 trillion) in three days. "Domestic markets shrugged off weak global cues, as investors cheered the <keyword id="19899808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI" source="keywords">RBI</keyword>'s higher growth forecast for FY25 in its credit policy announcement which propelled Sensex to a fresh all-time high above the 76k-mark on massive broad-based buying support. "Also, the arrival of monsoon rains on time and expectations of its even spread across the country raised hopes of softening inflation going ahead. With the election uncertainty now over and the NDA party most likely to form the government, investors are hopeful that the action will now shift to reforms and the upcoming Union Budget," Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research) at Mehta Equities Ltd, said. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) left its key interest rates unchanged on Friday as expected, keeping the focus on inflation amid robust economic growth that is likely to provide the new Modi government headroom for manoeuvring reforms. The Monetary Policy Committee, consisting of three RBI and an equal number of external members, kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.50 per cent for an eighth straight policy meeting and stuck to its relatively hawkish stance of "withdrawal of accommodation", Governor Shaktikanta Das said in his statement. With the <keyword id="19948184" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-economy" source="keywords">Indian economy</keyword>, Asia's third-largest, growing faster than expected in the previous year, the RBI raised its <keyword id="19972825" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="GDP-growth" source="keywords">GDP growth</keyword> projection for the current fiscal through March 2025 to 7.2 per cent from 7 per cent while maintaining its inflation forecast at 4.5 per cent. "This week, the market experienced extreme volatility, with investor emotions on a roller-coaster ride. The RBI's decision to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent, along with an upward revision in the growth rate to 7.2 per cent from 7 per cent, boosted market sentiment. This indicates solid performance for the domestic economy," Vikram Kasat, Head of Advisory of Prabhudas Lilladher Pvt Ltd, said. In the broader market, the BSE smallcap gauge climbed 2.18 per cent and midcap index rallied 1.28 per cent. All indices ended in the positive territory. Telecommunication jumped 3.78 per cent, IT soared 3.38 per cent, teck (3.33 per cent), auto (2.53 per cent), utilities (2.18 per cent), metal (2.15 per cent), energy (1.99 per cent) and consumer discretionary (1.94 per cent). As many as 2,890 stocks advanced while 970 declined and 92 remained unchanged on the BSE. "The anticipation of stability within the coalition government at the centre, coupled with the RBI's upward revision of its growth forecast for FY25 to 7.2 per cent, fuelled a broad-based rally in the domestic market. The Indian market surpassed its previous record high set on exit-poll day and reached a fresh peak," Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services, said. In an eventful week, the BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 2,732.05 points or 3.69 per cent and the Nifty zoomed 759.45 points or 3.37 per cent. According to TechCrunch, the entrepreneur has shown off a prototype of the device in meetings with several key executives from the industry at this week's Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, as per a source close to the company.
