Launched in 2017, the capital assist programme is a first-in-the-segment solution designed to bridge the financing gap and empower restaurant owners. Over 8,000 restaurants have availed loans so far, of which 3,000 availed loans in 2022 alone, the company said in a statement. Partnering with multiple lending partners, including Indifi, Incred, FT Cash, PayU Finance, and IIFL, Swiggy offers tailored financial solutions like term loans and credit lines. "The NBFCs will soon facilitate more exciting solutions like pre-approved loans to enable our partners to gain easier and quicker access to capital, driving even more growth for their businesses," said Swapnil Bajpai, VP-Supply, Swiggy. From quick sign-ups to even quicker approvals, through capital assist programme, the NBFCs take a fast, easy, and efficient approach to provide funds for restaurant partner's business needs. Under the collaboration, Gentari Green Mobility Business will procure and deploy electric vehicles for the company in the next three years besides providing comprehensive fleet management services to the delivery service partners (DSPs) to ensure the seamless operation and upkeep of the <keyword id="20475726" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EV-fleet" source="keywords">EV fleet</keyword>, Amazon India said. The partnership will provide Delivery Service Providers (DSPs) access to more electric three-wheelers for Amazon deliveries, it added. "We aim to empower our delivery service partners by providing them access to the right electric vehicles, end-to-end vehicle life cycle management services, as well as charging and parking facilities," said Abhinav Singh, VP (Operations) at Amazon India. The company deployed more than 7,200 EVs in India at the end of 2023, and it remains well on track to achieve its goal of deploying 10,000 EVs in the domestic market by 2025, he said. Amazon India has operations across 400 cities in the country. Amazon India partners with Gentari for 10,000 EV fleet by 2025

There is often a dispute between tax officers and food delivery apps regarding the delivery fee, which involves nearly Rs 1000 crore, according to the reports. When reached for a comment, <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> refused. <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> did not comment either. As per Zomato and Swiggy, 'delivery charge' is nothing but the cost borne by the delivery partners who go to deliver food from door to door. Companies simply collect that cost from customers and pass it on to delivery partners. But, tax officials do not agree with this, as per the reports. Last month, Swiggy increased the platform fee from Rs 2 to Rs 3 for food orders. A Swiggy spokesperson told IANS, that "there has been no significant change on platform fee, which is applied by most service players and is a common practice across industries". In April, the company introduced a platform fee of Rs 2 per order, irrespective of the cart value. In August, Zomato also increased its platform fee to Rs 3 per order from an initial Rs 2. Zomato started charging the platform fee from Zomato Gold users, who were previously exempted.

Food delivery app Swiggy partners with Khan Academy to give free learning courses to gig workers

Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> has started charging all users a "platform fee" of Rs 2 per food order, irrespective of the cart value. The company told IANS that the additional charges are being levied only on food orders on the main platform and does not apply on Instamart users. "The platform fee is a nominal flat fee charged on food orders. This fee helps us operate and improve our platform and enhance app features to deliver a seamless app experience," a Swiggy spokesperson said in a statement. The platform fee is over and above the convenience and handling fees for food delivery. As last reported, Swiggy claimed to have processed over 1.5-2 million orders through the day. People in Hyderabad ordered a whopping 10 lakh biryanis and 4 lakh plates of haleem on leading food-delivery platform Swiggy during the holy month of Ramzan. In March, the online food delivery platform said it delivered 33 million plates of idlis in the last 12 months, indicating the immense popularity of this dish among customers. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai were the top three cities where idlis were ordered the most. The company, on average, has over 2.5 lakh restaurant partners enabled on its platform, and typically onboards about 10,000 restaurants every month.
