New Delhi, Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword> on Tuesday said it has facilitated over Rs 450 crore in loan disbursal to more than 8,000 restaurant owners as part of its capital assist programme. Launched in 2017, the capital assist programme is a first-in-the-segment solution designed to bridge the financing gap and empower restaurant owners. Over 8,000 restaurants have availed loans so far, of which 3,000 availed loans in 2022 alone, the company said in a statement. Partnering with multiple lending partners, including Indifi, Incred, FT Cash, PayU Finance, and IIFL, Swiggy offers tailored financial solutions like term loans and credit lines. "The NBFCs will soon facilitate more exciting solutions like pre-approved loans to enable our partners to gain easier and quicker access to capital, driving even more growth for their businesses," said Swapnil Bajpai, VP-Supply, Swiggy. From quick sign-ups to even quicker approvals, through capital assist programme, the NBFCs take a fast, easy, and efficient approach to provide funds for restaurant partner's business needs. "We have done three rounds of financing so far and have used these funds for our working capital requirements. Swiggy disburses over Rs 450 cr in loans to 8000 restaurant owners

Briefing media after the announcement of bi-monthly monetary policy review, Das said, "regulatory requirements in top-up housing loans are not being followed by certain entities and it is not a system-level problem." Such cases are being dealt at the supervisory level bilaterally, he said. Banks and <keyword id="19938300" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NBFCs" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="NBFCs" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="NBFCs">NBFCs</keyword> have also been offering top-ups on other collateralised loans like gold loans. "Such practices may lead to loaned funds being deployed in unproductive segments or for speculative purposes. Banks and NBFCs would, therefore, be well-advised to review such practices and take remedial action," he said. Therefore, he said, banks should adhere to regulatory prescriptions relating to loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, risk weights and monitoring of end use of funds with regard to top-ups. Das further said that the divergence between loan and deposit growth may create asset liability mismatch or <keyword id="22712997" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="liquidity-management-issue" source="keywords">liquidity management issue</keyword>. It may potentially expose the banking system to structural liquidity issues, he said. He urged banks to mobilise deposits through innovative products and services by leveraging their vast branch network. On inflation, Das said, it is moderating but the pace of disinflation is uneven and slow. Pinning hopes on monsoon, which is 7 per cent higher than long-term average so far, the Governor said, it will have a good impact on Kharif output as well as Rabi because of improvement in moisture content in the soil. Surge in top-up housing loans not system-wide issue, says RBI Governor

The season’s data reflects how the Indian economy is getting back on track,” said Manas Singh, chief business officer, Apna. The report further said that there was a massive increase in the number of employers looking out for the right talent pool across job roles like telecalling, <keyword id="6380915" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bpo" source="Orion">BPO</keyword>, telesales, receptionist, front office, help desk admin and office assistants between September 1 to October 27 this year. In fact, during the festive season, on an average, 4,000 jobs were posted everyday, said the report. The programme, named "<keyword id="13699950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Step-Ahead" source="Orion">Step-Ahead</keyword>" is aimed at giving an opportunity to those executives who want to move from their current flexible engagement with Swiggy to a dedicated, managerial role, the company said. "Swiggy has consistently maintained that our delivery executives are the backbone of our operations; and we are proud to enable an income opportunity for over 2.7 lakh women and men across the country," said Mihir Rajesh Shah, VP, Operations, Swiggy, in a statement. "While most may consider their association with the platform as a stop gap between jobs or an education, or even an additional source of income, we realise that there are some who want more. With aStep Ahead', Swiggy is creating a unique opportunity for those interested to flip their collar from blue to white and take on a managerial role," he added. To be eligible for the role of a Fleet Manager, a Swiggy delivery executive must hold a college degree, possess communication skills and basic computer knowledge and should have been delivering with Swiggy for a few years. Managing a fleet of delivery executives, the fleet managers, will be responsible for different roles like maintaining metrics like login hours, cancellations, resolving queries, and working on special projects for delivery executives. Over the years, numerous Swiggy delivery executives have joined the platform as fleet managers. With 'Step Ahead', Swiggy is formalising this process and intends to reserve at least 20 per cent of all Fleet Manager hires for its delivery executives. Swiggy to upskill delivery boys to become company employees

In addition to Chinese apps, the ban included Indian ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ (BNPL) apps such as LazyPay and Kissht. Out of the 232 apps banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information &amp; Technology (MeitY), 138 are betting and gambling apps and 94 are quick-loan-providing apps. According to a<a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/govt-blocks-232-foreign-apps-including-chinese-for-gambling-money-laundering/articleshow/97620408.cms"> report</a> by Economic Times, the government has said that the apps have been banned as they contain materials “prejudicial” to the sovereignty and integrity of India. “These apps contained material which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India,” an official familiar with the matter said. While some of the apps banned have Chinese links, the list also includes Indian applications such as LazyPay and Kissht. Currently, there is no information from the government why apps such as PayU’s LazyPay and Kissht were banned in the country. After Chinese apps, the Indian government cracks down on Indian betting and quick loan apps—here’s why

In a bid to improve business communication, Truecaller is now looking to introduce a set of features that will allow users to rate such calls and respond to them without really picking them up. Priyam Bose, the Global Head for Go to Market at Truecaller for Business, noted several businesses keep on blindly calling the customers and such feedback could help them optimise their communication in a much more efficient manner. The upcoming feature would allow the customers to let such businesses know whether they are interested in their offering through automated messages like ‘please don’t call me back’ or ‘call me back later’. This feature will make it much simpler for users to let businesses know whether they are the right target audience for them. Such a feature does exist on Truecaller and phones for peer-to-peer calls. However, the customer service numbers of companies are usually one-way and do not allow customers to send messages or call back. Truecaller’s latest feature would be targeted for those customer services only. Secondly, the feature would be enabled for verified businesses that are represented by the green popup on the Truecaller app. Companies pay for this verification to let the customer know that they are a verified business and gain their trust. The feature is a part of Truecaller’s plans to enable reverse communication, which will reduce spam and allow both businesses and their customers to communicate with each other in an optimized manner. The company had also launched the ‘reason for call’ feature for businesses last year, where businesses could cite their reason for calling the customer. Bose told Business Insider, “today we are solving for the first leap of it, where business is making that communication by calling. Then tomorrow the tools will further enable the users to communicate back to those businesses.” The company is still working on the feature and has not decided on a timeline to launch it. Notably, India is the biggest market for Truecaller. About 73% — or 205 million — of its 278.1 million monthly active users are from India. It also counts companies like Uber India, Swiggy, Airtel, Flipkart, Byju’s, Urban Company, HDFC Bank, and Unacademy, among others, as its key customers. The country contributes about 69% to its overall revenue. Meta-owned messaging platform <keyword id="790242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="whatsapp" source="Orion">WhatsApp</keyword> is reportedly working on a new feature which will allow users to schedule calls within their group chats. Users will be able to select a title, date and time for their call, making sure that everyone in the group is aware of when it will take place, reports WABetaInfo. It is useful when the group is organising an event, by allowing members to schedule a call to discuss the details and confirm that everyone is available. The ability to schedule a call within the group chats is currently under development and is expected to be released in a future update of the application, the report said. Meanwhile, last week, it was reported that the messaging platform was working on a new feature which will allow users to create calling shortcuts. With the new feature, it will be possible to create a calling shortcut by just tapping the contact cell within the list of contacts. This feature will be helpful for users who frequently make calls to the same person and do not want to go through the same process again-and-again, that is, opening the application and searching for the contact every time.
