Meanwhile, Swiggy has been busy implementing several notable changes across its operations, probably to gear up for its IPO. From changing leadership to expanding Instamart’s reach, let us take a look some changes implemented by Swiggy in the last few months. <h2>Leadership overhaul </h2> One of the most significant shifts has been at <keyword id="19939135" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy-Instamart" source="keywords">Swiggy Instamart</keyword>, the company's quick commerce arm. Swiggy appointed <keyword id="22954620" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amitesh-Jha" source="keywords">Amitesh Jha</keyword>, a seasoned executive from Flipkart, as the new CEO of Instamart last month. This move marks the third leadership change for Instamart in just 18 months. As part of this transition, Phani Kishan, the outgoing head of Instamart, was announced to take on a broader role within Swiggy, overseeing the Central Growth unit and working closely with co-founder Sriharsha Majety on new initiatives. <h2>Expanding Instamart’s reach </h2> Swiggy Instamart has also been on an expansion spree, recently launching in 11 new cities across India, including Rajkot, Thrissur, and Kanpur. The platform, which offers delivery of daily essentials in just 10 minutes, also said in a press release that it has seen encouraging results in these new locations. Our expansion into these new locations marks a significant milestone, allowing even more people to experience the ease of having thousands of products—from everyday essentials to electronics and toys—delivered in just 10 minutes from both national and local brands." <h2>Changes in management </h2> Swiggy has also made notable changes in its management team recently. Himavant Srikrishna Kurnala, previously with Reliance Retail’s JioMart, was appointed as the head of product for Instamart earlier this year. His appointment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the team ahead of the IPO. Other key hires include Mayank Rajvaidya, who has been named vice president of fruits and vegetables, and Manu Sasidharan, who joined as associate vice president of the FMCG category. Swiggy is preparing for its IPO soon: A look at some recent changes in the company

A total of ₹52,759 crore has been raised by 61 companies through initial public offers till October this fiscal, higher than the funds mopped up through this route in the last financial year, the government told the Lok Sabha on Monday. Out of the 61 companies that hit the markets till October of the current fiscal, 34 entities were Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="Orion">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> said that a large number of manufacturing and service sector companies are coming up for listing. "IPOs (<keyword id="136443" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="initial-public-offerings" source="Orion">Initial Public Offerings</keyword>) are being brought by the companies regularly this year, and the amount raised in the current financial year till the month of October 2021, has surpassed the amount raised in the last financial year," she said. In the last fiscal, 56 companies garnered ₹31,060 crore from IPOs and out of them, 27 were SMEs, as per the <keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">Sebi</keyword> data cited by the minister. In a written reply, Sitharaman said that among the 61 IPOs, 35 were below ₹ 100 crore, while four were in the range of ₹100 crore and less than ₹500 crore. As many as 22 IPOs were either equal to ₹ 500 crore or more than ₹500 crore. Among others, 10 companies out of the 61 entities were from the healthcare sector and 6 from "cement/ constructions". To a supplementary question on whether the <keyword id="6357120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm" source="Orion">Paytm</keyword> IPO has caused problems for investors, the minister replied in the negative. First of all, there is an impression that the IPO of One97 Communications has caused problems for investors, but no problems have been caused for them, the minister said. "It (IPO) was subscribed more than what they (company) went for," she pointed out. The IPO of One97 Communications received bids for 9.14 crore equity shares against the offer size of 4.83 crore shares, according to information available with stock exchanges on November 10. The price band was fixed at ₹2,080-2,150 per share. The ₹18,300 crore IPO was oversubscribed 1.89 times on the last day of India's biggest share sale. However, the scrip made a weak debut on the stock exchanges on November 18 and had tumbled over 27 per cent during the day from the issue price of ₹2,150. Replying to a question related to strengthening the infrastructure of trading platforms from the point of view of the cyber domain, Sitharaman said many steps have been taken by all the concerned institutions. "There are very many checks and balances and plan B, which are in place as a result of which I feel that measures are taken (in a) timely (manner)... they are also taken by institutions with periodic trial and error kind of method. "I am assured by the Sebi, NSE and <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword> that they are taking all kinds of precautions... every time there is a periodic review and anything that has to be strengthened to make sure that it is digitally safeguarded is happening," she said. Companies raised ₹52,759 crore from IPOs till October this fiscal, says Nirmala Sitharaman

And in Uber’s long IPO filing document, India’s finds at least 24 mentions. Uber has always maintained that India is one of its biggest markets, since its entry in the market in 2013. Six years later, Uber runs 30 million cars in India, as mentioned in its IPO filing, with US being its biggest market. Uber also reported 2018 revenue of $11.27 billion and net income of $997 million. For its India business, competition takes centrestage and Uber has not missed out on talking about it. In the filing, mentioning its offering Uber Eats, the company said that it competes with <keyword id="6358977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy">Swiggy</keyword> and <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword>, who have a “substantial market-specific knowledge and established relationships with local restaurants, affording them significant product advantages.” The company also further stated that these “competitors may be able to respond more quickly and effectively than us in such markets to new or changing opportunities, technologies, consumer preferences, regulations, or standards, which may render our products or offerings less attractive”. Interestingly, it was reported that Swiggy was in talks with Uber Eats to acquire their India business. However, the deal came to a <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/startups/newsbuzz/swiggy-ubereats-cant-tally-numbers-for-a-deal/articleshow/68731884.cms">hold </a>as both companies didn’t agree on financial terms. Uber, which has been subject to many protests and dissatisfaction from its Indian drivers, also mentioned the same in the filing. A lot of the protests have been about Uber’s cancellation of initiatives that it had earlier offered drivers to bring them on board. In its filing, Uber says that in order to improve its financial performance (with its IPO the company also reported losses of $1.8 billion), it will have to reduce driver incentives which will then increase driver dissatisfaction. “Any decline in the number of Drivers, consumers, restaurants, shippers, or carriers using our platform would reduce the value of our network and would harm our future operating results,” the company stated in the filing. However, the company also stated that its business depends substantially on operations outside of the US, India being one of them. India was also the first country where Uber allowed consumers to pay in cash, and then followed it up with other countries. “In 2018, cash-paid trips accounted for nearly 13% of our global Gross Bookings,” the company said. And of course, the document also mentioned surge-pricing, one of the reasons why the company has often faced the wrath of its consumers. In India, after a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court in 2016, the company agreed to “not calculate consumer fares in excess of the maximum government-mandated fares in New Delhi, India”. User safety has reportedly been one of Uber’s biggest promises in India, which has also led the company to develop SOS features. The company mentioned the case where an Uber driver had raped an Indian female user in New Delhi in 2014. While it clarified that the company does carry out necessary background checks for drivers, it informed that such incidents “could have an adverse impact on our reputation, business, financial condition, and operating results.'' Speaking at IAMAI's 'India Digital Summit 2022', Sharma said, "We are a payments company and everyone understands it and payment has a derivative revenue line item in financial services and is driven by credit." "The success of Paytm will depend on what we do with monetisation, led by financial services. Payment is a revenue line item which is growing massively," he emphasised on Wednesday. Sharma said that globally, we probably went in at a time (for the public IPO) when QE, free money and many other parameters brought in a little bit of spookiness into the market, in terms of pricing. "Some South American companies are 70 per cent down. Well, that's not the reason for it completely, that's a macro reason," Sharma said. Globally, fintech players and emerging market players saw weak support from the markets as PayPal, Afterpay, Affirm, Square and many others were down almost 30 per cent on an average. Most recently, Grab, the Singapore-based company, made its market debut and is also a 'super app' saw its share price drop by over 20 per cent on listing day. Paytm made a big bang debut in the stock market. The company's $2.5 billion IPO was not just India's largest but also the largest APAC fintech IPO ever and also the second largest fintech IPO of 2021 globally. Overall, <keyword id="8069901" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm-ipo" source="Orion">Paytm IPO</keyword> is the fourth largest fintech stock debut. "Paytm, which opened at an offer price of Rs 2,150 braved the markets on a tough day and its share price was also impacted. But Paytm came out stronger than how most other fintech companies fared during the same time," said Dr Ravi Singh, Research Head, Share India. Analysts at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have assigned a 'BUY' rating to the Paytm stock with a target price of Rs Rs 1,630-Rs 1,875. The company during its second quarter earnings results showed how its revenue grew by 64 per cent on a yearly basis to Rs 10.9 billion. During the July-September quarter, Paytm saw its contribution profit grow to Rs 2.6 billion in Q2 FY 2022, year-on-year increase of 592 per cent. The contribution margin jumped to 24.0 per cent of revenue from 5.7 per cent the previous year. "Paytm has grown to be a financial services giant, which brings with it more monetizable opportunities. The share price of the company will correct itself as the company grows as has been seen in the market journey of US tech companies like Facebook and Tesla," said Singh. The company in a recent filing said that its lending business saw 4.4 million loan disbursals through the platform (y-o-y growth of 401 per cent), and value of Rs 21.8 billion (run-rate of $1.2 billion) (y-o-y growth of 365 per cent). The company's GMV for Q3 FY 2022 stood at Rs 2,501 billion ($33.6 billion). "Year-to-date GMV is already higher than all of FY 2021 , led by significant non-UPI GMV growth," said the company in its regulatory filing. New Delhi, The <keyword id="76562" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Confederation-of-All-India-Traders">Confederation of All India Traders</keyword> (CAIT) in a communication sent to Union Commerce Minister <keyword id="6355222" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="piyush-goyal">Piyush Goyal</keyword> demanded <keyword id="2465241" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="immediate-action">immediate action</keyword> against e-commerce entities including <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword>, <keyword id="6358977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy">Swiggy</keyword> and others. "It is a case of daylight robbery of e-commerce entities in India and therefore demand immediate action against the erring e-commerce portals and online mechanism providers," CAIT said. CAIT has accused Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy and various other e-commerce entities for violation of mandatory display of Country of Origin and Manufacturer, seller Details on products sold through their respective E-Commerce Portals as required under the Consumers Protection (E Commerce) Rules,2020, Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Act, 2011 and guidelines of Food Safety &amp; Standards Authority of India. CAIT has asked Goyal to take action against E-commerce entities including Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy and others. "It is a case of daylight robbery of e-commerce entities in India and, therefore demands immediate action against the erring e-commerce portals and online mechanism providers," CAIT said. CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal in a communication to Goyal said that e-commerce entities conducting business in India including Amazon, Flipkart and others are highly violating the mandatory conditions spelled out in above Acts. "It is a pity that particularly in e-commerce every guidelines, Rules &amp; Regulations, Laws and policies are being flouted openly and no department has so far taken any cognizance of compliance issues resulting in a highly vitiated and mess like e-commerce trade of India," CAIT said. Bhartia and Khandelwal said that Rule 10 of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 provide that e-commerce entities should have to display name and address of the manufacturer, name of the country of origin, common/generic name of the product, net quantity, best before/use by date (if applicable), maximum retail price, dimensions of the commodity, etc. This rule was introduced in June 2017 and provided a transition period of six months thereby its implementation from January 1,2018 but even after a lapse of three years, the above rules are not being complied by e-commerce companies prominently by Amazon, Flipkart, etc. Failure to make declarations as above will amount to selling non-standard packages and will invite penalty under the above said Act, including fine or imprisonment or both, CAIT said. Both trade leaders further said that similar obligations were imposed on e-commerce food business operators vide guidelines issued by the Food Safety &amp; Standards Authority (FSSAI) on February 2,2017. "But such FBOs like Zomato, Swiggy, etc. are not complying with the above rules," CAIT said. Bhartia and Khandelwal said that under Rule 4(2) of the Consumer Protection (E Commerce) Rules, 2020, it is provided that every e-commerce entity shall provide the following information in a clear and accessible manner on its platform, displayed prominently to its users, namely, legal name of the e-commerce entity, principal geographic address of its headquarters and all branches, name and details of its website, and contact details like email address, fax, landline and mobile numbers of customer care as well as of grievance office. Similar provisions are also spelled out in Press Note 2 of the FDI Policy, 2016. CAIT said no e-commerce entity has appointed a Nodal Officer as also complying with above provisions. Important rights of the consumers are being violated as they are not aware of the seller or description of the product at the time of purchase of products from e-commerce portals. Ahead of its $116 million IPO, Truecaller says India's upcoming data protection bill may affect future earnings

<ul><li><keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword> has made a whopping ₹9,000 crore on its shareholdings in <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword></li><li>Uber’s stake in Zomato was a result of the $350 million acquisition of Uber Eats.</li><li>Info Edge’s stake in the company has surged to ₹15,000 crore.</li></ul>The market value of Uber’s stake in the newly-listed company Zomato has surged to a whopping ₹9,000 crore ($1.2 billion) without investing a single penny in the food aggregator business. Uber has never made any investment in Zomato. It’s 9.19% shareholding was a result of Zomato’s <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/zomato-acquires-uber-eats-business-in-india/articleshow/73464966.cms">$350 million acquisition </a>of UberEats India business back in 2020. Hands down, Uber was the top gainer with Zomato’s listing due to these factors. In addition, it also got rid of a liability (Uber Eats India). Overall, the Uber Eats sell-off has made Uber over a billion dollars easily. The market value of shares held by Info Edge, which is the largest stakeholder in the company, also surged to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/info-edges-remaining-stake-in-zomato-is-worth-15000-crore/articleshow/84668883.cms">₹15,000 crore</a>. Meanwhile, Deepinder Goyal’s holdings have surged to more than ₹5,500 crore. Zomato made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Friday, July 23. The company’s shares opened at ₹116 on the national stock exchange (NSE), representing more than a 51% premium over the issue price of ₹76. The company’s market cap breached ₹1 lakh crore at 10.16 a.m, only 16 minutes after listing. Uber made a billion dollars from Zomato’s listing, without spending a single penny

<ul><li>Shares of <keyword id="95677" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jubilant-FoodWorks">Jubilant Foodworks</keyword>, Domino’s India franchisee, surged more than 10% on July 22 on better than expected June quarter results.</li><li>Pandemic has helped Domino’s mobile app downloads grow faster and closer to the market leader in delivery platforms like Swiggy.</li><li>While it is still short of <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> and Swiggy, staying with changing times seems to have helped Jubilant.</li><li>On the other hand, the company continues to build physical stores. 20 new Domino's stores were opened in June quarter and another 150-175 stores are likely in FY22.</li></ul>The 10% plus rally in shares of Jubilant Foodworks on June 22 reflects a surprisingly good set of earnings in the April-June quarter, also the period in which the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic peaked. While people stayed away from dining out during the lockdown, online orders for pizzas and burgers through its own apps kept Jubilant’s business buzzing. Typically, one would compare Jubilant Foodworks with another food chain operator like <keyword id="33542" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Burger-King">Burger King</keyword>. However, recent data suggests the Domino’s franchisee in India is fast catching up with food delivery apps like Zomato and Swiggy. Domino’s app has seen maximum downloads (24 million additional downloads) in FY21. The management attributed 73% on year increase in downloads to doubling of performance marketing spends, availability of the best in class consumer offers on the app, improved consumer experience and promotions of <keyword id="278022" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NPD">NPD</keyword> (Pasta pizza), said a report by <keyword id="328060" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Phillip-Capital">Phillip Capital</keyword>. Interestingly, the introduction of the app in Hindi has increased the number of downloads, and management anticipates this trend to continue after the software is released in other vernacular/regional languages, added the report. From January 2021, Domino’s pizza app in India has seen over 7 million downloads getting closer to delivery platform Swiggy’s over 11 million downloads and Zomato’s 21 million downloads. In June alone, Domino’ Pizza saw 1.3 million mobile downloads. While it is still short of Zomato and Swiggy, staying with changing times seems to have helped Jubilant. The India online food delivery market reached a value of $ 4.35 billion in 2020. It is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30.1% during 2021-2026, said a <a href="https://www.imarcgroup.com/india-online-food-delivery-market">report </a>by <keyword id="5880596" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IMARC-Group">IMARC Group</keyword>, a market research company. The total income for June quarter grew over 120% year-on-year to ₹901 crore taking the profit to ₹69 crore as compared to a ₹74 crore loss last year. “Domino’s sales almost recovered to pre-covid levels towards the end of 1QFY22 [first quarter of this financial year] backed by continued strong growth in the delivery channel growing 123%,” said a report by Phillip Capital. <div type="image" title="Jubilant foodworks profit" height="900" width="1200" msid="84644786" hostid="261"></div> The 25-year old Jubilant has not given up on its physical stores. The company has also beaten market expectations on opening new stores. Despite the challenging scenario, it opened 20 stores of Domino’s in June quarter and has guided for 150-175 stores in FY22.
