Two-time Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar had filed a petition in the <keyword id="6355014" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi-High-Court">Delhi High Court</keyword>, in which he had asked the court to direct <keyword id="110074" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wrestling-Federation-of-India">Wrestling Federation of India</keyword> to hold trials to select the wrestler who would represent India in the 74 Kg freestyle category at the Rio Olympics be decided. 
 
The plea, however, has been rejected by the court. 
 
Justice Manmohan said that even though Sushil Kumar is a "legendary" wrestler, that doesn’t make WFI's contention to select Narsingh Pancham Yadav "unreasonable" or "perverse." 
 
The court also said that Sushil Kumar never went through any selection trials when he himself was selected for previous Olympics. 
 
The court added that contesting selection trials at this point of time could mean that if players get injured, they would not have enough time to recover for the sporting event, which takes place this August.

WFI’s decision to send NP Yadav to Olympics not unreasonable, Delhi HC tells Sushil Kumar

Olympic medallist <keyword id="6356003" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sakshi-Malik">Sakshi Malik</keyword> received a heart warming reception in New Delhi and ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana thronged the IGI airport to receive the wrestler who won a bronze medal at Rio. 
 
23-year-old Malik will receive rousing welcome in her village Mokhra Khas in Rohtak district in Haryana. 
 
"It was my dream and hard work of years. Since long I had thought of going to the Olympics to win a medal for the country. It finally happened in Rio," said Sakshi. 
 She will be felicitated by Haryana Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword> during a felicitation ceremony and will be honoured with a cash award of Rs 2.5 crore. 
 Malik thanked wrestlers <keyword id="390394" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Geeta-Phogat">Geeta Phogat</keyword>, <keyword id="10633" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sushil-Kumar">Sushil Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="157783" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yogeshwar-Dutt">Yogeshwar Dutt</keyword> for their contribution to her success. 
 
"It was inspiring when Geeta Phogat qualified for wrestling as she was the first Indian woman to qualify for Olympics. It lit a hope that if one weight category can qualify, there can be more. She also has a hand in my victory. A lot of people including Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt have played big role in my victory," she said. 
 
Malik will also stop at few villages in Rohtak district including Ismaila village where she will meet her maternal uncle.

It is never too late to rise and shine. As if to salvage India’s image that was lost when the country hosted the <keyword id="6354367" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Commonwealth-Games">Commonwealth Games</keyword> in 2010 in New Delhi, Indian sportspersons continue to shine in the medal race at the C’wealth Games being held in <keyword id="69738" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Glasgow">Glasgow</keyword> this year. 
 Some of the media favourites like <keyword id="28211" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhinav-Bindra">Abhinav Bindra</keyword>, <keyword id="10633" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sushil-Kumar">Sushil Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="20664" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="gagan-narang">Gagan Narang</keyword> have had a great showing. But Indians are a tad disappointed as shuttler Saina Nehwal, the country’s biggest medal hope, pulled out of the Games owing to fitness issues. 
 
The 215-strong Indian contingent participating in the Commonwealth Games 2014 has staged some excellent performances this year. Incidentally, controversies marred the last edition of the Games hosted by India four years ago and clearly took some shine off the excellent showing of Indian sports stars at that time. 
 
But this time around, hopes were as strong as the performances put up by Indians. Among the 6,500 sports persons representing 71 nations across 17 sports, India is sitting snug at the sixth spot. Although this is a ‘fall’ of sorts from the earlier ranking, India may very well finish with third or fourth highest medal tally. 
 
Some of the finest stories of non-celebrities evolving into heroes, based on their dedication, focus, hard work and commitment (laced with the smallest share of luck), are being written here. For instance, there is weightlifter Satish Kumar Sivalingam whom we hardly know. He hails from a poor family in Tamil Nadu, but has now secured his place in the hearts of millions by making his country proud. Sivalingam, a humble Railways employee, won the gold in men’s weightlifting 77kg category. 
 
However, India’s ace sharpshooters mostly called the shots in the medal hunt. Apart from Bindra winning the gold in men’s 10m air rifle and Narang settling for the silver medal in 50m rifle prone event, Jitu Rai bagged the gold medal in men’s 50m while Gurpal Singh followed him with the silver. 
 
Shooters and wrestlers came up with a stunning show at the Games, winning majority of the gold medals in India’s medal haul. Having won 41 medals in all, India has so far got 10 gold medals, 19 silvers and 12 bronzes. 
 
Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who carried the weight of India’s aspirations, will also return home to a hero’s welcome. He led the charge of Indian wrestlers who won three of the five gold medals up for grabs at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, the venue for wrestling competitions. 
 
Interestingly, the ongoing Commonwealth Games is his first major international event after his favourite 66kg category was removed and he had to pile up 9kg to qualify for the new weight category. In the Glasgow Games, four sports categories have been removed, reducing the mega event to only 17 categories. 
 
Prior to Sushil Kumar, Amit Kumar and Vinesh Phogat made India proud with excellent performance in their respective categories. Amit won gold in men’s freestyle 57kg by beating Nigerian Ebikweminomo Welson, teenager Vinesh held the country’s flag high by clinching an 11-8 victory against England’s Yana Rattigan in the women’s freestyle 48kg wrestling. 
 
The medal haul continued with marksmen Sanjeev Rajput and Narang winning medals (silver and bronze, respectively, in men’s 50m rifle 3 position) for the country. Lajja Goswami also won the bronze in women’s 50m rifle 3 position category.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, North West told IANS, "A Look our notice has been issued against Kumar." According to senior police officials, Kumar has been absconding after 23-year-old <keyword id="3410583" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sagar-rana">Sagar Rana</keyword>, was beaten to death during a brawl at Chhatrasal Stadium. On May 4, an incident of brawl among wrestlers was reported at Chhatrasal Stadium. The official said that some wrestlers were injured and they were admitted to a hospital, and one of them died during treatment. Police registered a case of murder and an investigation is underway, the official said. He said that several teams have been formed to trace out alleged persons including Kumar. He further said that police is probing the role of Kumar as allegations have been made against him. Delhi Police issues lookout notice against Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar following death of a 23-year old wrestler

Living up to the expectations, <keyword id="20430890" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aman-Sehrawat" source="keywords">Aman Sehrawat</keyword> on Friday bagged the men's 57kg free-style <keyword id="20257145" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bronze-medal" source="keywords">bronze medal</keyword> at the <keyword id="19933819" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Olympics" source="keywords">Olympics</keyword> with a commanding win over Darian Toi Cruz, bringing some cheers to the <keyword id="22736140" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-wrestling-contingent" source="keywords">Indian wrestling contingent</keyword> that has been rocked by controversies. The 21-year-old U-23 world champion was the lone Indian male wrestler to qualify for the Paris Games and he did not disappoint, winning 13-5 in the bronze play-off at Champ de Mars Arena. The sport of wrestling has not missed a medal at the Olympics since 2008 and Aman's effort ensured the streak remained unbroken. Sushil Kumar broke the glass ceiling by winning the bronze in Beijing (2008), and since then Yogeshwar Dutt (2012), Sakshi Malik (2016), Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia (2021) have kept the tradition intact. Aman's effort also helped India win its sixth medal and move closer to the Tokyo Games tally of seven. Antim Panghal (53kg), Anshu Malik (57kg), and Nisha Dahiya (68kg) could not reach the medal rounds in their respective categories. On the other hand, Vinesh Phogat (50kg) lost despite entering the final as she was disqualified from the gold-medal bout for being overweight. The hearing has concluded and a decision is expected by Sunday evening. Teenager Antim Pangal also landed herself in trouble for sending her sister to the Games Village on her accreditation card. She was deported along with her entourage. It was a fast-paced bout with quick moves from the two wrestlers. Once Aman got a measure of his rival, he did not give much of a chance to the Puetro Rican. He build a healthy 6-3 lead by the end of first period with consecutive takedown moves. As is usually the case, Aman, who thrives on a high-endurance game, first tried to wear down his opponent and then went for the kill. With dominating technical-superiority wins over Vladimir Egorov and Zelimkhan Abakarov, the Indian wrestler stormed into the semifinals without conceding a single point but was no match for Japan's Rei Higuchi in the semifinals. Having lost his parents at a tender age of 12, the famed Chhatrasal stadium -- where his father had enrolled him in 2013 -- became his second home. He comes from the centre that has given India four Olympic medallists -- Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya. Reetika Hooda (76kg) will be in action on Saturday, and if she wins a medal, India will match its Tokyo tally. Aman Sehrawat wins bronze, carries forward Chhatarsal's rich legacy

An <keyword id="321107" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Allahabad-court">Allahabad court</keyword> has issued legal notice to global search engine company <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword>, its CEO and its India head for listing Indian PM Narendra Modi among the top 10 criminals in the world. 
 
Not only this, the court has also directed for registering a criminal complaint case against the search engine and its top officials. The case would have its next hearing on 31st August. 
 
As per <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Google-lists-PM-Modi-in-top-criminals-gets-court-notice/articleshow/53292860.cms?utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=TOI">TNN</a> reports, a complaint was filed by advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra on which this action was taken. The complainant said that when "top ten criminals of the world" is searched in Google, it comes up with the photograph of India’s Prime Minister Modi. As per Gupta, he had already written to Google asking it to remove Modi's name but was not given any response, because of which he filed an application before the chief judicial magistrate last year. However, even there his plea got dismissed, with the court calling it a civil case. 
 
Gupta then filed a revision application in court challenging this judgement, after which it was passed.

Indian court sends legal notice to Google for listing PM Modi in 'top criminals'

New Delhi, Mar 18 () An AAP member of Rajya Sabha on Wednesday requested the Centre to provide fiscal stimulus to micro and small traders in the national capital to prevent them from shutting as the coronavirus scare spreads. Raising the issue during a discussion on working of the MSME Ministry in the Upper House of Parliament, AAP leader Sushil Kumar Gupta said businessmen in Delhi were already affected due to ceiling and demonetisation, and the current outbreak of coronavirus has further impacted them. He urged Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Nitin Gadkari to instill confidence in businessmen and shopkeepers in the current situation. "I request Gadkari to support trade and industry players to ensure their units do not shut down due to coronavirus. Right now, the government should come forward and provide financial help to protect the industry," Gupta said. The government should be concerned about the businessmen in the current situation when the entire world is facing economic slowdown due to coronavirus, he said. Patna, Feb 25 () The Nitish Kumar government presented a Rs 2.11 lakh crore budget for 2020-21 on Tuesday, with a special emphasis on education, health and infrastructure. Presenting the budget with a revenue surplus of Rs 19,172.80 crore, state Finance Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the proposed allocations made for 2020-21 are Rs 11,260.48 crore more than the current fiscal's. Bihar's Budget has increased eight times and touched Rs 2,11,761.49 crore in 2020-21 from Rs 23,885 crore in 2004- 05, Modi said in his 11th Budget speech. The state government has made the highest allocation of Rs 35,191.05 crore to the education department. Besides, Rs 17,345 crore was allocated for road building and Rs 10,937.68 crore was earmarked for healthcare. Except for 2012-13, the state has been presenting a revenue surplus budget since 2008-09, said Modi who is also the deputy chief minister. AR SOM MRMR

Bengaluru, Social media giant Twitter has blocked the <keyword id="6365988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="karnataka-bjp">Karnataka BJP</keyword>'s account for tweeting on people with "liberal views", the party said on Wednesday. "It is unfortunate that our handle was locked out by Twitter for speaking the truth about liberals," tweeted BJP. BJP vowed that it will not step back in its efforts to bring out the truth in the public domain.
