After schooling, he took up various jobs and worked as a carpenter, coolie and finally a bus conductor in Bangalore. Though Rajinikanth did not change his opinion on Jayalalithaa, he supported the alliance thinking that the BJP will work for ‘linking all the rivers in the country’ to solve the drinking water crisis. His efforts against PMK was all in vain once again as the party won only 5 seats in the Lok Sabha election. Later in the same year, the BJP-AIADMK alliance was not able to win even a single seat in the state assembly election that followed. He visited the Himalayas for his movie ‘Baba’ which was released in the year 2002 and started to breathe spirituality back into his life and this was regarded as the reason he chose the ‘Baba symbol’ as the logo for the mandram. However, he has always mentioned that he will be into “spiritual politics”. U-turn happened Even after his announcement regarding the entry to politics, Rajinikanth decided not to take part in the 2019 general elections and also clearly said that his party, Rajini Makkal Mandram will not support any political party in the Lok Sabha elections. Rajnikanth finally ended the suspense and tweeted on 3 December, 2020 that he will bring back his political party in January 2021. The people were expecting the Rajini Makkal Mandram, to take part in the 2021 state election in Tamil Nadu. He also stated that the public wants transparent, honest, corruption-free, secular, caste-less, and spiritual politics. Chaos comes to an end Though he nodded yes to politics, the superstar of Tamil cinema, announced clearly on July 12, 2021 that he has no plans to enter politics, after a discussion with the ‘Rajini Makkal Mandram’. He also added that the Mandram has been dissolved. A separate meeting happened with the party authorities in the Raghavendra Mandapam (hall) in Kodambakkam on 12 July, after which the actor announced his decision in a press meet. Today, stress, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, and obesity are the real monsters we fight daily. The world needs to be reminded of the importance of mindfulness and holistic wellness and this is my way of contributing to that larger goal,” said Aishwaryaa R. Dhanush. By the next month, the startup aims to have 100 studios across Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Sarva currently organizes over 3,500 classes every week, with a capacity of over 18,000 members a day. “The partnership with OYO Townhouses has taken off on a high note, ensuring the initial target of 500 studios in the top 15 Indian cities by 2022 is on track as well,” said the company’s official statement. The notice said, "His charisma and nature as an actor and human being has earned him the title of 'Superstar' called by millions and millions of his fans across the world. The sheer proportion of his fan base and his respect across the film industry is unmatched and indisputable. Any damage to his reputation or personal life would entail a great loss to our client." Rajinikanth issues public notice on infringement of rights, warns legal action

Superstar Rajinikanth on Friday said the BJP has not invited him to join the party, but insisted efforts were being made to paint him with "saffron", the idealogical colour the national party is associated with. Attempts were being made to paint both himself and Thiruvalluvar with saffron, the veteran star said referring to the recent controversy surrounding the Tamil saint-poet. When asked about senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan's recent meeting with him and the former's repeated assertions that the actor should join the party, Rajinikanth said no such has invitation has been made to him. "No offer has been made (from BJP to join the party).. definitely not," he said. "Attempts are being made to paint me with BJP colour...trying to paint me with saffron like Thiruvalluvar was done with.. Neither Thiruvalluvar nor me will get trapped," he said with a big laugh. On November 1, the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit on its Twitter handle had written a couplet from Thiruvalluvar's classic "Thirukkural," questioning the use of education if the Almighty was not worshipped. And, it could bring in viewers en masse since it’s the only movie released during Pongal, the biggest festival in South India. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, sees Rajinikanth play a cop named Aaditya Arunasalam, who has no rules or mercy. Like most of the heroes in Murugadoss's films, Aaditya Arunasalam has to break the law to ensure justice is served. When he is sent to Mumbai on a special operation to handle the city's drug menace, he goes on a murderous rampage. He gets labelled 'a murderer' and 'a cop with no ethics' by the papers. As part of the operation, Aaditya crosses paths with dreaded gangster Hari Chopra (Suniel Shetty) and the ensuing face-off between them forms the crux of the story. Among the other stars are Nayanthara, Suniel Shetty, Nivetha Thomas, Prateik Babbar and Nawab Shah. It is also off to a good start in several foreign countries including Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. It is the number one debut in Singapore followed by 1917, Ip Man 4: The Finale and Ashfall. The film has earned $615 in the USA as well, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala.

 Twitter was flooded with positive reviews soon after the film was released. At some theatres in South India, people were seen showering flowers and coins to celebrate the movie.

 However, film critics are not very pleased with the movie. They believe the movie is strictly for Rajinikanth’s fans and delivers nothing new. “Despite A.R. But to India’s central government, the 67-year old actor and aspiring political leader might be more of a bugbear.
