For this, McDonald's India - North and East has launched the community campaign 'McDonald's For Youth' - that aims to meaningfully contribute towards India's growth story by providing gainful employment prospects to the local communities, especially the less-privileged. So far, the brand has hired more than 500 young people over the last year, partnering with several reputed not-for-profit organisations such as Magic Bus, Tech Mahindra foundation, Quess Corp Foundation, and Tarraqi, amongst others. For most people hired through the 'McDonald's For Youth' initiative, it is their first job, is an important milestone in their walk of life. Besides being their first source of income, these young minds benefit from the McDonald's global training curriculum through which they acquire right skills and knowledge desired to succeed in their career path. This includes skills such as food safety and hygiene practices, safe food handling, customer service, communication, teamwork, among others. "Tragedies sometimes generate interest in other areas of extreme travel."There's been a "marked increase" in interest in the company's high-level memberships, some customers have started new discussions about terrestrial projects, and no one has canceled their upcoming extreme-travel trips, he added.OceanGate offered $250,000 trips for passengers to view the wreck of the Titanic. The Titan, its submersible, lost communication with its mothership less than two hours into its journey on June 18. The US Coast Guard says the submersible <a href="https://www.insider.com/titanic-sub-had-catastrophic-loss-of-pressure-chamber-coast-guard-2023-6">likely imploded</a>, <a href="https://www.insider.com/passengers-titan-submersible-dead-oceangate-titanic-2023-6">killing its five crew members</a> – OceanGate's CEO, three ultra-wealthy customers, and one of their sons.Brown and Hudson had offered Titanic dives with OceanGate. Brown said that the experiences OceanGate offered were a "little bit light" and that Brown and Hudson made them "broader and longer" with more training. He said that since 2017, three of the company's clients had committed to go on the Titan but all "pulled out at the last minute," largely due to scheduling issues.Brown and Hudson advisors meet with their clients to discuss their dream trips and map out vacations for the next few years. "For most of our clients, Titanic came into that," Brown said. Some wanted "bragging rights" or had always been fascinated by the ship, while others saw it as an investment and hoped to sell their spot in the future, he said."The kind of people who joined the waitlist for the Titanic are the same kind of people who would consider near-space flight," Brown said. "The investment required, is relatively speaking, is similar."Wanting to travel adventurously and take risks is "a perfectly normal thing and accidents will not stop it," Brown said."People still fly when planes go down. They'll take helicopters when there are helicopter accidents," Brown said. "Mankind just moves forward, hopefully in a slightly more educated way and more risk-aware in some cases."As well as paying for the trips, which can cost well over £100,000 ($127,400), Brown and Hudson's clients pay annual retainers of between £9,700 (about $12,350) and £100,000 ($127,400), plus taxes. The clients are mainly from North America, but many also come from Brazil, China, India, and the UK. A Frankenstein's monster that combines Amazon, Uber, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Venmo, and whatever banking app you currently use.These do-it-all apps exist outside the US: WeChat is the super app supreme in China, while Careem aspires to that status in the Middle East, Rappi in Latin America, and Grab in Southeast Asia.Tech CEOs want to replicate the model in the West, with the loudest voice on super apps in recent months being Twitter's new boss. Earlier this year, Musk spoke highly of WeChat as "Twitter, plus PayPal, plus a whole bunch of other things, all rolled into one."At Facebook's parent company Meta, "super app" is a taboo word precisely because it's too abstract, Insider's Kali Hays <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-whatsapp-matt-idema-meta-business-ambitions-2022-10?r=US&amp;IR=T">reported last month</a>. But it's clear CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants something like a super app. The firm's attempts to build out standalone payment capabilities through the Libra/Diem blockchain project failed, but other apps in its family such as Instagram and WhatsApp are bolting on payment and e-commerce functionality.<div type="image" title="phone with social apps" height="563" width="1000" msid="96234564" hostid="261" sizebytes="33758"></div>As Zuckerberg and his team seem to have noticed, payments are critical to any would-be super app.Fintech is "part of most super apps' operations or aspirations." Paying for things is central to WeChat's success, according to research published in October in the journal <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/01634437221127805">Media, Culture &amp; Society</a>.But payments are a tough nut for Silicon Valley to solve. It's still relatively uncommon to pay for things using your phone in the US, compared with Europe and other territories. Half of US smartphone users are expected to adopt mobile payments as late as 2025, according to <a href="https://www.insiderintelligence.com/newsroom/index.php/us-payment-users-will-surpass-100-million-this-year/">eMarketer research</a>. By contrast, 64% of China's population had made a payment on their phone by the end of 2021, according to a report from <a href="https://daxueconsulting.com/payment-methods-in-china/">China UnionPay</a>, the state-owned financial services firm.Well-developed payments apps exist in the form of Venmo or Cash App, but a reverse attempt to build non-payment services into those apps may be a lengthier process: competition to lead the market they're already in is fierce, and American users have become accustomed to a diverse choice of apps. Companies will struggle to generate the stickiness needed to make a super app work the way WeChat does, which has ratcheted up more than 1 billion users thanks to its mix of services and payments that ensures people don't have to look elsewhere. <h2>America isn't China, Africa, or India</h2><div type="image" title="China phone" height="2000" width="2667" msid="96234566" hostid="261" sizebytes="148982"></div>Super apps in Europe and North America are "expected to evolve differently" from places like Asia and Latin America, where there are "serious infrastructure gaps", according to a white paper published in 2020 by CPP Investments, a Canadian asset management firm.These gaps mean that "electronic payment penetration is minimal" in many developing economies. In India, for instance, almost a quarter of adults don't have bank accounts, making these markets ripe for a super app that meets those needs, the paper suggests. In China, smartphones were first entry point to the internet for large swathes of its population. But banking and e-commerce are already well-developed in the US and Europe, where consumers have plenty of choice. A newcomer super app has a tougher sell accessing this sophisticated, less trusting type of user.There's another clear reason why the most successful super app has emerged in China. The regulatory strong arm of Beijing has shut out foreign competitors from offering Chinese consumers any alternative.<h2>Silicon Valley's gatekeepers stand in the way of the super app dream</h2>US tech firms harboring super app ambitions will need to fend off their own regulators, overseas regulators, and Apple's App Store. Under Lina Khan, the FTC is becoming more sharply focused on competition and user privacy. Creating super apps would almost certainly require aggressive consolidation through acquisitions — a surefire way of attracting scrutiny. As it stands, American regulators are tending towards a more European approach to data privacy, which favors competition and fragmentation.Khan is likely to be a particularly painful thorn in the side of Amazon if it ever decided to join the super app race, with the FTC chair soaring to fame for her <a href="https://www.yalelawjournal.org/pdf/e.710.Khan.805_zuvfyyeh.pdf">research paper </a>on the way Amazon has wielded its power. There's also the challenge of Apple.With iOS <a href="https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/mobile/united-states-of-america">the most popular smartphone operating system in the US</a>, Apple's App Store can make or break an app's success. As the CPP Investments white paper notes, super apps "can be thought of as operating platforms for mobile devices." Apple simply doesn't permit most apps the kind of device-level access they would likely need to act as a super app.It is clear that the obstacles on the road to a Silicon Valley-made super app are many. But the opportunity a super app presents is so enticing – despite all the hurdles – that it's a dream many tech CEOs are going to find difficult to let die.

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="13473" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="North-Korea">North Korea</keyword> has a cyber army of about 7,000, trained to find secrets, disrupt critical infrastructure, and steal money to circumvent sanctions.</li><li>These cyberattacks are often difficult to pin on North Korea because they originate in countries like China and Russia, and a counterattack is almost impossible because of North Korea's rudimentary internet.</li><li>North Korea's likely next targets are critical US infrastructure like power plants, dams, and electrical grids.</li></ul>North Korea's state-sponsored <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/15/world/asia/north-korea-hacking-cyber-sony.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hack of Sony Pictures</a> in 2014 over the movie "The Interview" was highly embarrassing for Sony. But it was just the tip of the iceberg, according to Daniel Russel, vice president for <keyword id="6356001" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="international">international</keyword> security and diplomacy at the Asia Society Policy Institute.Russel, a former assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, spoke with Insider recently about the threat of North Korea's hacker army, how it supports North Korea's nuclear program, and what the future holds if the US doesn't take this threat seriously.Insider: When did this cyber army start?<div type="image" title="north korea" height="893" width="1500" msid="76427506" hostid="261"></div>Daniel Russel: The North Korean cyber operation documented by a lot of cybersecurity firms lists this principal group as starting circa 2010. But that gives the impression that we know a lot more about North Korea's cyber activity than I think we really do.North Korea has been cultivating and has been investing in an elite cyber force under the control of its military, the Korean People's Army and the Reconnaissance General Bureau — <keyword id="182233" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Kim-Jong-Un">Kim Jong Un</keyword>'s clandestine security apparatus. It's estimated to comprise about 7,000 people who are trained pretty extensively, both in specialized domestic programs in North Korea, including in parts of their universities.In other cases, they then seem to receive training in China or in Russia. Quite a few of them are dispersed through China, Russia, and some in India. They use other countries as a platform and for conducting their various cyber activities because North Korea has pretty much air-gapped its own internal internet or intranet system, both to prevent North Koreans accessing information from the rest of the world, but more importantly to prevent the rest of the world from getting in.That makes it very hard to get a definitive attribution that the attack originated in North Korea and raises the risk that China or Russia will get the blame. It also makes it harder for services in countries like the US to retaliate because you're running the risk of retaliating against China or Russia for something that's actually masterminded and executed by the North Koreans.Insider: How do we figure out that these attacks are actually performed by North Korean actors?<div type="image" title="Wannacry cyberattack North Korea" height="1567" width="2500" msid="76427509" hostid="261"></div>Russel: You're digging into technical areas for which I'm spectacularly unqualified because I'm not a digital or a cyber expert. But the people who are real experts, Mandiant, FireEye, or CrowdStrike, or for that matter the CIA or the NIS, South Korea's intelligence service, have a very sophisticated ability to conduct forensic detective work in the cyber realm. In many cases, they can identify patterns, code, servers and the like to trace things back to North Korea.These companies issue an annual worldwide cyber-threat report. They track all of these various major hacking operations and rank them. They call them advanced persistent threats, APT. North Korea is the host of something they call <a href="https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2018/10/apt38-details-on-new-north-korean-regime-backed-threat-group.html">APT38</a> — or the Lazarus Group, Guardians of Peace, or Hidden Cobra. These are sort of code names. APT38 is number one on their list of worldwide cyber threats.In some cases North Korea directly claimed credit for a <keyword id="6361937" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="cyberattack">cyberattack</keyword>. Beyond that, Kim Jong Un and the Korean Workers' Party have been speaking increasingly in a very open and direct way about its cyber capability.They use the same vocabulary now for cyber as for their nuclear weapons. They call it "an all-purpose sword that guarantees our capability to strike relentlessly."Insider: You called the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/15/world/asia/north-korea-hacking-cyber-sony.html">Sony hack</a> "<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mercenaries-invade-venezuela/id1200016351?i=1000473738505">chickenshit</a>." Can you tell me what kinds of bigger projects are out there?<div type="image" title="Interview Seth Rogin James Franco" height="1791" width="2500" msid="76427512" hostid="261"></div>Russel: You could break it down into three categories: spying; sanctions circumvention through cyber theft; and harassment, disruption, and retaliation — the Sony hack was an example of that.One important use of cyber for North Korea is to steal secrets. CrowdStrike has done a lot of documenting this, but it's the US government and foreign governments that are paying super-close attention to this.In 2016, APT38 stole about <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/10/world/asia/north-korea-hack-war-plans.html">40,000 defense documents</a> from South Korean contractors with information on F-16 fighters and drones. North Korea is also believed to have stolen a PowerPoint summary of the US military's top-secret operation plan, called Op Plan 5027, which is the war plan for the United States.Second is the cyber theft category. In March, the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/two-chinese-nationals-charged-laundering-over-100-million-cryptocurrency-exchange-hack">Department of Justice</a> unsealed indictments accusing some Chinese and North Korean nationals of laundering $100 million for North Korean nuclear activities. This indictment makes clear that the money these people laundered was part of a $250 million theft by North Korea in a cyberattack on a global cryptocurrency exchange. So this isn't just imaginary stuff.Cyber theft effectively neutralizes UN and US sanctions against North Korea. If North Korea is denied a billion dollars in the sale of coal and iron and mushrooms, but it can go out and steal a billion dollars, then sanctions are not going to have the intended effect.While the administration takes a lot of pride in its efforts to maintain sanctions against North Korea, this is an immense loophole, and it's not just going to buy those <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mercedes-limo-kim-jong-un-north-korea-2019-7">fancy Mercedes</a> that we saw Kim Jong Un driving around in when he was hobnobbing with Donald Trump in Singapore and in Hanoi. This money is going to fund North Korea's nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile program. We're paying for the threat against ourselves.<div type="image" title="north korea" height="1994" width="3000" msid="76427517" hostid="261"></div>At the high end, it's potentially a devastating destruction of critical infrastructure in the United States and Japan and South Korea.The <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cyber-northkorea-sony/u-s-charges-north-korean-hacker-in-sony-wannacry-cyberattacks-idUSKCN1LM20W">WannaCry virus</a>, on the one hand, was ransomware; you could argue that it's aimed at getting money, but it caused a huge disruption of hospitals in the UK and, potentially, in something like 100-plus other countries where they had disseminated the ransomware. This was software that brought the operation of critical facilities to a standstill.This is not hacking; this is cyber warfare.Cyber weapons kind of level the playing field for North Korea in a way that nukes can't. Not only do the United States, China, Russia, have vastly more nuclear weapons than North Korea, but a nuclear weapon is an all-or-nothing proposition.Cyber warfare has a very different risk-return calculation. it's a low-cost, asymmetric, relatively speaking, low-risk weapon system. And the US is the most vulnerable country on planet Earth to disruptive cyberattacks.Most American infrastructure facilities were built in the pre-digital era — energy grids and the Hoover Dam. They get retrofitted with makeshift, MacGyver-style internet linkages, as opposed to new infrastructure that has digital safeguards built into it. So you have somebody firing up their router, like with one of those old "you got mail" connections.The US has a lot of that stuff, number one. And <a href="https://www.fema.gov/pdf/about/programs/oppa/critical_infrastructure_paper.pdf">something like 80% </a>of America's critical infrastructure is privately owned. Who's going to pay to upgrade the power plant? Who's going to pay to upgrade the air traffic control systems? Who's going to pay to upgrade the rail systems, the cellphone network? Good luck getting these private companies to sell their shareholders on investing billions of dollars in upgrades.If it's bad now, just imagine what it's going to look like with 5G and the internet of things. New interconnectivity is going to provide new opportunities for malicious cyberattacks, and you're going to wake up one morning and find that your toaster oven is getting ready to kill you, thanks to Kim Jong Un.Insider: Are there other ways that this cyber army is innovating?<div type="image" title="north korea" height="2336" width="3500" msid="76427522" hostid="261"></div>Russel: I think the new threat for which we are woefully unprepared isn't so much a technical innovation as a strategic innovation. We can see that North Korea is practicing its ability to shut down and to hold at risk an entire American city or a facility in the US that is critical to our economy, our safety, and our national security.This cyber capability, the ability to hold not just a bank hostage but a nation hostage, is going to be North Korea's next generation weapon of mass destruction.There isn't a big bang. There's not a missile that can be taken out on the launchpad, and because North Korea's own internet or intranet system is so difficult to access, direct retaliation or preemptive cyber defense may not be possible. US, Japan, South Korea have programs. But I'm not all that current on where it is now and how well developed they are, and that's only one piece of it.I am strongly convinced that this is not a priority for the Trump administration.Donald Trump was prepared to accept the word of his best friend, Kim Jong Un, that North Korea had no intention of threatening the US. He's turned a blind eye when North Korea has violated UN sanctions by launching mid-range ballistic missiles into the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-50246065">Sea of Japan</a>.Because North Korea depends so heavily on China, not just for cyber, but in the case of cyber, for access to servers, its pipelines, and so on, it would be critical for the United States to develop some degree of cooperation with China to limit North Korea's offensive cyber threat.Obviously, there's much more on the diplomatic side that we would have to do to present North Korea with an international unified front that would make it difficult for it to find these cyber platforms to use against us.<div type="image" title="North Korea Kim Jong Un cyberattack youtube" height="1789" width="2500" msid="76427529" hostid="261"></div>The United States needs to launch a crash campaign to up the level of our defense of critical infrastructure. This is not a secret. There's plenty of warnings out from the US intelligence community and from the cybersecurity companies. But the United States, as far as I know, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-s-decision-eliminate-role-cybersecurity-czar-rattles-experts-here-n874731">doesn't have a cyber czar</a>.Most importantly I think, is deterrence. Deterrence means convincing the other side that the consequences of an attack are sufficiently certain and the capability of the United States is so well demonstrated that it's too high a risk to take.And the fact is that North Korea is succeeding in so many of these cyberattacks, and it's getting a pass from the Trump administration, so it's continuing to build intercontinental ballistic missiles. It's continuing to develop other weapons.The US has <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2019/11/17/us-postpones-military-exercises-with-south-korea-in-nod-toward-north-korea-071301">stood down</a> on joint military exercises with South Korea. The US is in the middle of a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-southkorea-trump-defense-exclusiv/exclusive-inside-trumps-standoff-with-south-korea-over-defense-costs-idUSKCN21S1W7">grudge match</a> with South Korea over the cost of American troop deployment there. The US is in the middle of a demolition derby with China. When I was researching my book Everyday Superfoods, the first question that came to my mind is, how did this word come into being? And what I discovered was quite funny. The first-ever recorded usage of this word was in a Jamaican newspaper, and it was actually a reference to a wine brand — they just got creative. And the second known instance was in 1949, where another Canadian newspaper was advertising a muffin using the word superfood. So I think that the whole thing of using this term for marketing is definitely not a new thing because even before the term started being used in its true sense of the word, it was actually being used by brands. The definition of a superfood is pretty simple — it is any food that is nutrient-dense. Any food that has a high proportion of one or more of these nutrients — such as vitamins, minerals or antioxidants — qualifies to be known as a superfood, which is the well-accepted definition in the scientific community. Some believe it is just a marketing gimmick. Would you say otherwise? A true superfood will definitely have health benefits that are good for general health and boosting immunity. But to loosely use this term for processed goods, packaged foods, is definitely, I would say, a marketing gimmick. In the pre-Covid times, I used to love walking around supermarkets and see what new products were there. And invariably, there would be a whole bunch of new products that called themselves superfood, which is pretty misleading. It is the worst possible way to mislead people who may not be aware of nutrition and who may not be having a scientific bent of mind, so they may believe what is written on the packet. It is just a way to jack up the price of any product — if a regular food item costs X, by calling it a superfood, you can easily charge 5X. Considering the environmental cost, what are your thoughts on imported food items like avocados, <keyword id="573117" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Quinoa">quinoa</keyword> etc. In my book Everyday Superfoods, I have a whole chapter on sustainability. Anything that gets the label of a superfood does benefit the farmers who are growing that particular superfood. However, it also leads to a whole bunch of other unpleasant side effects. Instead of focusing on what is local, instead of focusing on what is in season, everybody starts rushing towards buying that one thing because it is in trend, it is popular, and it is getting a lot of attention and likes on Instagram, and that is not a good way to eat at all. If a lot of farmers start growing turmeric alone because it is the next big thing it will lead to monocropping - where farmers, instead of growing a variety of foods, grow one kind of food in one place. And that means the soil gets depleted, so they are adding extra fertilisers, further polluting groundwater. So it is like a vicious cycle. When it comes to quinoa, I think it started getting popular in the 1980s in the US because it began getting imported from Central America etc. Then the United Nations (UN) declared 2013 "The International Year of Quinoa." That just led to prices going up, and every farmer in South America was growing quinoa, and they did not even want to eat it themselves because they said, 'I could sell it for so much more so why should I eat into my own earnings, right?' The locals themselves stopped eating their ancient grains, something they were so used to, and they started eating wheat and other grains. It just destroys the balance of things in nature. This is why the emphasis is on - what is local, what is in season, and what have your ancestors been eating? Michael Pollan is someone I really consider a guru, and he says, "Don't eat anything your great-great-grandmother wouldn't recognise as food." And did my great, great grandmother know about quinoa? That said, this is a complex issue. Quinoa is now well grown in Karnataka. That is why the prices have fallen from what used to be like Rs 1500 or kilo to now it is literally Rs 200 a kilo. The good thing is that the crop does not consume as much water as rice because it is a pseudo-grain and grows in slightly harsher conditions. So it is okay for me to buy quinoa, which is locally-grown and it has not travelled 10,000 miles to reach me. So there is no binary in this aspect, which is why this whole subject is so complex and so tough for people to decide what to eat, what not to eat. It takes a few extra seconds to see the back of the pack and see where it is grown because it will definitely be mentioned. <div type="image" title="Amla" msid="81241745" hostid="261"></div> Can you give us a bit of a primer on Indian superfoods? Since we talked about how it is not really a label that matters, the questions we need to ask are, is this a nutrient-dense food? Is this locally available? Is it readily available? Because anything you label as a superfood is usually costly, it is not available round the year and is often imported from far away. These will be very difficult to include in your daily diet, and like we already discussed, no superfood is a miracle pill that you eat once a year, and your life will be sorted. So, whatever it is, it needs to be consumed in a fairly regular way. It needs to be part of your lifestyle, and for that purpose, these can only be readily available and affordable foods. If you look at Indian superfoods, something like amla clearly tops the list because if blueberries are topping every international listicle on superfoods, amla has fifty times the antioxidant capacity of blueberries. And it is so cheap, local, and though it is seasonal, the beauty in Indian food and Indian cuisine is that there are at least five different ways in which amla is preserved - it is dried, it is made into a supari, it is preserved in honey, it is preserved as a sharbat, and of course, pickled. So while amla is available possibly for three months in a year, we can actually eat it round the year by just using our traditional preservation techniques. We do not need any factory or industry to be preserving it, these are all home-based preservation techniques. Fermented drinks like kombucha seem to be all the rage. What are the Indian alternatives to the same? So, we have our chaach, and there is a kaanji made in the North using mustard seeds and carrots fermented over two to three days. In the South, you have kanji, which is nothing but rice that is overcooked and soft and some buttermilk is added to that, and it is actually kept overnight to ferment. Sometimes it is also hard because when there was rice leftover the previous night and there was no refrigeration in the earlier days, so people would just add water to the rice and leave it outside on the counter. Next morning, it will be slightly fermented, and they will have it with some chopped onion or pickle. In Odisha, you have the pakhala bhata, which is again a similar thing where it is an overnight fermented rice gruel. This is a double dose of probiotics from fermenting the rice itself, and you are adding buttermilk, which is also a fermented drink. Do you believe that those who are not buying into this trend are destined for doom? I definitely think they are not doomed. But the superfoods I have mentioned in my book are so every day that invariably, people living in India are eating many of them in their standard diet. Like dark green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, lobia (black-eyed peas), green moong, these are all everyday ingredients but poor things — they do not come with this crown or this fancy label, but they are superfoods. Whether you buy into the trend or not, if you are eating Indian cuisine, you are already eating many of these things. We eat turmeric every single day, and black pepper is there in our masalas, plus our chai masala has so many ingredients. So Indian cuisine is so rich in superfoods by itself that even if someone is a non-believer in this trend, they are already eating it. I am sorry to disappoint them. However, it is definitely not true that they are doomed if they do not buy into the trend because, anything that we adapt, it has to be a gradual change in lifestyle itself, and that is what we need to believe and invest in it rather than just flipping from trend to trend because a trend is very temporary and a lifestyle is forever. In life, health and nutrition, there are absolutely no binaries. People want binary answers because it saves them from analysing their own life and health problems. They need to think for themselves and find out, 'Am I able to do this? Is this sustainable for me?' This is why I get quite frustrated when I see a YouTube video saying, 'drink this pink tea and you will lose 20 kilos'. Which is one of the reasons I wrote this book. It is not fancy, it is not clickbait, and it is not anything shocking. It is pretty much everyday knowledge, but definitely, that common knowledge and moderation seem to be somewhere lurking in the background. It is not convincing enough for people to follow a more moderate path. Also, our health is heavily dependent on our genetic lottery. I may abuse my health in every possible way, and I may still live to 100 with absolutely no problems. And someone who is so careful about their health does everything right and suffers a cardiac problem in their 40s. I am not saying follow the trend and go after every superfood you see, but try to take some baby steps towards a good lifestyle that you sustain for life. Not something you do because it is in the news today. The <keyword id="1910227" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Super-League">Indian Super League</keyword>, India’s very own football league is going to start from October 12th, and as the nation gears up for the first football league, here is what you should know about it. 
 
Bringing Indian football out of hibernation 
The Indian Super league was founded in 2013 after seeing that many Indians are crazy about football craze, but sadly, have no national football league to follow. The Indian Super League aims to turn the table. 
 
It would function like Twenty20 cricket IPL and will comprise eight franchise teams, owned from people and companies across the country. The league will commence in October and end in December. 
 
Slugging it out 
Eight teams that will compete in this league are as follows: 
 
· Atlético de Kolkata, coached by Antonio López Habas, with Spain as the foreign draft. 
· Chennai Titans, coached by Marco Materazzi with Italy as the foreign draft. 
· Delhi Dynamos FC, coached by Harm van Veldhoven with Netherlands as the foreign draft. 
· FC Goa, coached by Fatorda Stadium Zico with Brazil as the foreign draft. 
· Kerala Blasters FC, coached by David James with England as the foreign draft. 
· Mumbai City FC, coached by Peter Reid with England as the foreign draft. 
· North East United FC, coached by Ricki Herbert with New Zealand as the foreign draft. 
· FC Pune City, coached by Franco Colomba with Italy as the foreign draft. 
 
Who’s who in the <keyword id="244888" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Isl">ISL</keyword> The league is owned by Reliance Industries Ltd, Star India Pvt. Ltd. and IMG Worldwide Inc. It would be broadcast exclusively on STAR Sports and will have Hero MotoCorp as the title sponsor; thus the name <keyword id="2430942" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hero-Indian-Super-League">Hero Indian Super League</keyword>. From Bollywood, we have John Abraham who co-owns the team North East United FC, Ranbir Kapoor who co-owns the team Mumbai City FC, Abhishek Bachchan who co-owns Chennai Titans, Salman Khan who co-owns FC Pune City, and Varun Dhawan who is the brand ambassador of FC Goa. From the field of Indian Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar is the co-owner of Kerala Blasters FC and Sourav Ganguly is the co-owner of Atletico de Kolkata. 
 
Rules of the game 
Every year, the league would be played between October and December. Each team will play against all other teams twice on a home-and-away basis, almost like the Pro Kabaddi League. The top four teams will qualify for the finals. 
 
While building their teams, each team will have to sign: 
· At least seven foreigners, out of which two will be from the club and five will be from the foreign player draft; 
· One marquee player, which in the words of AIFF is "A foreign recruit who has represented his country in any of the continental championships like the European Championship, Copa America, African Nations Cup, Asian Cup, or FIFA World Cup will be called a marquee player;" and 
· 14 Indian domestic players, four of which have to be local players from the city the team belongs to.

Team owners’ investments in the ISL are worth having a look. Different teams have shelled out crores to buy foreign players—the date is given below: 
 
Goa: Rs 2.46 crore 
Chennai Titans: Rs 2.34 crore 
Atletico de Kolkata: Rs 2.17 crore 
Mumbai City: Rs 2.10 crore 
Kerala Blasters: Rs 1.98 crore 
Pune City: Rs 1.75 crore 
Delhi Dynamos: Rs 1.62 crore 
North East United: Rs 1.62 crore
