The world knows <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sunny+leone&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Sunny Leone</a> as a former adult entertainer, a recent <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sunny+leone&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Bollywood</a> import and the recipient of the ‘most searched star on the internet in India’ for four years in a row, but that’s not how the 35-year-old wants to be remembered. 
 
Having launched her recent perfume line ‘Lust,’ in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=dubai&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Dubai</a> barely a week back, the actress is keen to establish herself as an entrepreneur, as well. 
 
Her aim is to create a brand by tapping into various categories. 
 
At the moment, Leone’s recent line of investments includes a franchise for a box league cricket, web-based short stories, and an online game apart from fragrances. She is also keen to enter categories such as shoes, accessories, jewellery and apparels with her own line of products. 
Apart from focusing on Bollywood, the actress who was always interested in business from a young age is keen to expand her brand profile in India.

In fact, the star remembers how as a child she would put up lemonade stands during summers and shovelled snow in the winters to earn money. 
 
Her official foray into the big bad world of business started with her understanding of adult content as a business industry. But, she wanted more. “I wanted to own a website and run my company and build my brand” she said in an interview and what followed was her handling everything. 
 
In order to manage her website, she learnt HTML, video-editing, photography among others and in the process of doing everything from start to finish, Leone also learnt the harsh reality of website traffic. 
 
“In a digital world, traffic is the best thing you can have. So I learnt where to send this traffic and how to capitalise all of it,” she added. 
 
Over the years, that also included her move to India from Canada, Leone has started believing in slow and steady businesses. By her own admission, she doesn’t believe in fast-paced businesses. 
 
It was only after she decided to participate in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=bigg+boss&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Big Boss</a> did she realise the enormity of the reach her brand had in the Indian market, which ultimately led to her deciding to move to the country with her husband. 
 
Her goal right now is to start producing movies, but before she does that Business Insider decided to take a look at <keyword id="836886" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunny-Leone">Sunny Leone</keyword>’s various businesses- 
 
 
1. Lust perfume line

Inspired by the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kardashians&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kardashian</a> model, Leone’s perfume line is aimed at the mass market. For the same reason, the price has been kept highly competitive to attract the consuming class. 
 
While the Lust Deo is priced at Rs 249, the Eau De Toilet comes at Rs 999. 
 
The perfume line has been designed by the actress herself, and includes, women perfumes and men and women deos. 
 
The distribution of the products has already begun, both in the online and offline categories. 
 
 
2. Box-league cricket team Chennai Swaggers

In February, the actress also unveiled her celebrity box league cricket team Chennai Swaggers, as part of a reality show cricket tournament backed by Balaji’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ekta+kapoor&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ekta Kapoor </a>and featuring well known television stars as players. 
 
Justifying her decision of buying a cricket team, Leone said that though she loved several games, she fell in love with cricket after coming to India. 
 
Chennai Swaggers features a handful of known names from the Television industry that includes Shabbir Ahluwalia, Mouni Roy, Sangram Singh and Ritwick Dhanjani among others. 
 
 
3. <keyword id="465663" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sweet-Dreams">Sweet Dreams</keyword>

This year also saw Leone taking to the pen and churning out original mobile-first collection of erotic short stories under the title Sweet Dreamsin association with Chiki Sarkar’s publishing house, Juggernaut. 
 
Released in April this year, one had to sign in one the Juggernaut app on their mobile phones to buy Sweet Dreams. After purchasing the title, all one had to do is sit back, as one short story would be delivered to their phone daily at 10 pm. 
 
Reportedly, Leone finished writing the 12 erotic short stories in a span of three months.

The game combines two of India's popular hobbies -- Teen Patti and Bollywood. The game allows the players to play different variation of Teen Patti, create private tables for their own unique play sessions gatherings, as well as chat and trade unique gifts with other players. How do you shame someone who has no regrets in life? Tough nut to crack, isn’t it? That’s exactly how Sunny Leone comes across as. The most googled woman in India, who even surpasses the fanclub of our most popular Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is not in awe of her stardom or whatever it can be called. 
 
She has been cited as the reason for India’s falling moral standards, for ‘misleading’ the youth of the country with her porn star image. Sunny Leone has only one regret and that has nothing to do with her professional life. 
 In a recent television interview with senior journalist <keyword id="3212789" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhupendra-Chaubey">Bhupendra Chaubey</keyword>, Leone said she still has remorse over the fact that she couldn’t reach home any faster when her mother died. “Except for that, I have no other regrets,” she said confidently. 
 
In fact, Chaubey seemed to have come prepared to attack her on morality issues. 
 
Chiding her and complimenting her in turns, he tried his best to tell Leone she was not something the nation would be proud of. But Karenjit Kaur Vohra, aka Sunny Leone, took none of it. 
 
Her take was simple. I do, what I do, I enjoy whatever I am doing; if you feel offended by my being and choices, feel free to do so. “People’s negativity doesn’t affect me,” she said in a voice that exuded conviction and determination. 
 
Majority of social media seemed to be in support of her, and also stood against Chaubey for the tone of his interview, which had dark shades of very righteous and glorifying elements aplenty. 
 
The 34-year-old Canada born lass ain’t being apologetic about politicians commenting about her influence on India’s youth though there have been numerous instances in the past where she has been squarely and unfairly blamed for poor opinion against women in the country. 
 
“Am I going to be disturbed about this? No! Am I so important that politicians need to spend their time commenting about me, my life and my work,” she says on a serious note, before jocularly adding “I will wait for American politicians to mention me in their speeches!” 
 
Leone, ho made a foray into Hindi films few years ago, admitted to the chaos in film industry and it is the only thing that has frazzled her. 
 
“Looks like there is an order to the chaos in film industry. It’s like everyone knows things will work in some series. I am the only one who stresses out about things going wrong,” Leone said, indicating she still has some distance to go before getting used to the way things work in an unorganized sector called the entertainment industry. 
 
Apart from work, there is nothing else that seems to bother her at the outset. However, it is also pretty evident from that twinkle in her eyes that she is here for a good time. When that ends, she won’t waste even a moment before packing her bags for good. 
 
All the popularity whether good or bad, seems to be doing her simply good. Even in the past, Leone had admitted to the fact that her revenue driven website was receiving most of the traffic from India. “More than 60% of my visitors are from India” she had said, and this has only increased her stake as an actor. 
 
She knows her economy better than her public image. This is probably the reason why she even did an interview that was not positioned in her favour. She has very less to lose, especially to journalists, when it comes to reaching the category of men and women she caters to. 
 
A PETA activist, Leone is highly focused and sensitive to many issues and she crafts her opinions with some sort of ‘on-the-feet’ thinking that other stars can only dream about. She isn’t noisy, or isn’t crass in her approach towards what keeps her life ticking at the moment. When she says work is interesting, she means every word that she says. 
 
Whether it is Mahesh Bhatt’s Jism 2 or Ragini MMS, or Ek Paheli Leela or even the most recent Mastizaade, Leone is at home with her selection of scripts based on the image that she has carved for herself so far. 
 
“I like acting. I am an entertainer” she says, noting the big difference between the two words and what they mean in the film industry. Her small tinge of nervousness notwithstanding, Leone’s interview was something that revealed her sensitive and sensible side, without being loud and garish. No feminism, no sloganeering, no justification – just a clean, simple and to the point responses that were more of introspective comments than being reactionary. 
 
Sunny Leone has this warm disposition about her that places her well above the rest in the league. And, she is good at securing her place, wherever she chooses to stay.

And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?"</li><li>This isn’t the first time that director Varma has gotten into trouble because of his big mouth.</li></ul>Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been at it yet again. Only this time, his sexist and derogatory comments against Droupadi Murmu, the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) presidential candidate, have landed him in legal trouble. In a tweet on June 22, Varma had said, “If Draupadi is the President, who are the Pandavas? And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?” This is not the first time that the director has stirred trouble by making sexist remarks against women. From Aishwarya Rai to Sunny Leone, his comments have put him in the limelight. Two days after commenting on the Presidential candidate, he said, “This was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way...Draupadi in Mahabharata is my favourite character but since the name is such a rarity I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone.” While Varma did try to save face with two subsequent tweets that said candidate Murmu is an ‘incredible icon,’ a Mumbai-based lawyer has filed a criminal defamation complaint against the director for his ‘offensive’ tweets. According to the lawsuit, Varma's tweets intended ‘to insult women's respect on social media and also amount to disrespect towards the scheduled caste (SC) community.’ Varma is no stranger to controversies, which are largely triggered by himself through his tweets. Varma kicked up a storm on Twitter in 2020 for his sexist comments about women buying liquor. Varma’s comments invited the wrath of singer Sona Mahapatra who said that the tweet ‘reeks of sexism’ and ‘misplaced morality.’ In 2019, on international women’s day, director and producer Varma <a href="https://twitter.com/RGVzoomin/status/839290164765732869">tweeted</a>, “Is there no Men’s Day because all days in the year belong to only men and the women were given just only one day. Women’s Day should be called Men’s Day because men celebrate women much more than women celebrate women.” “I don’t know what men should be doing to women that day but I wish one day in a year is celebrated as Men’s Women’s Day,” he added. Two years ago, again on international women’s day in 2017, Varma made a derogatory comment about film actor Sunny Leone. He said, “I wish all the women in the world give men as much happiness as Sunny Leone gives.” A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/bollywood-news/article/female-activist-files-police-complaint-against-ram-gopal-varma-over-sunny-leone-tweet-18059185">complaint </a>was later filed by a Goa-based activist under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. When the actor announced her pregnancy, Varma tweeted, “I worship beautiful women and I hate to see them ever become mothers. In case of Aishwarya, since she’s the most beautiful, I hate it even more!”

In October 2019, Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan were searched 2.74 and 1.83 million times respectively. The most searches for Priyanka Chopra were made in December 2018. She was searched 13.6 million times that month. Searches for Salman Khan in a single month never exceeded 2.74 million; he was searched this many times in December 2018. Excitingly, Priyanka Chopra is leading the race with a monthly search volume of more than 4.2 million, however, Salman Khan has over 2 million monthly searches. The study has two segments bifurcated into Indian actors and actresses. Considering segments individually, the top three most popular actors are Salman Khan, Amrish Puri and Shahrukh Khan. The latter two were searched an average of 1.7 million times respectively. On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra, Sunny Leone, and Deepika Padukone are the leading ladies on the list. Another fascinating fact revealed in this case study is that Madhubala is the 6th most eminent actress with 1.3 million monthly global searches wherein Leone and Padukone have been searched over 3 million and 1.8 million times respectively. Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Imran Khan, and Ranveer Singh are the other prominent names in the search list of international audiences. Amitabh Bachchan stands at the top 7th position with a monthly search average of 720K. Fernando Angulo, Head of Communications, SEMrush, said, “It is always exciting to know about the film industry and surprisingly India and all other countries slightly have similar preference as Salman Khan is equally popular all around. What added to my surprise is that audiences value that genuine talent and still remember veteran Indian actor Amrish Puri and actress Madhubala as much as they search the celebrities with an active career. Also, there is not much difference in the search volume of present celebrities in comparison to Amrish Puri and Madhubala.”

The women chosen this year are a mixture of female trailblazers – high-profile and influential women from all corners of the world, with more entrepreneurs, engineers, sportswomen, business women, fashion icons and artists than ever before. A third of nominees are aged 30 and below, while several of the inspiring women are over the age of 80, many of whom campaign for their causes whilst striving for a better world for themselves and their families.

New Delhi, Dec 2 () Music streaming platform Gaana on Monday said it expects 10 crore podcast streaming per month by March on its platform as it plans to build a portfolio of 3,000 shows in four months, a top company official said.
 Gaana has roped in celebrity Ranvijay Singh, Bollywood actress Sunny Leone, stand-up comedian Zakir Khan and a paranormal investigator Jay Alani for developing the shows, Gaana CEO Prashan Agarwal told .
 "The existing numbers (of podcast listeners) are very low. Our idea is to get the consumption up to about 1 to 1.5 per cent and then build from there," he said.
 "Just to give you a perspective, currently, we do about 3.2 billion streams. On the podcasts, we are looking at getting to about 100 million streams. That could be about 10 crore podcast play-outs per month by March," he added.
 The Times Internet Group firm expects to double the number of monthly active users on its platform to 20 crore in the next two years, representing around 50 per cent share of the overall market.
 Gaana has started expanding non-music content to enhance user engagement on its platform and attract new users.
 The company has started focusing on podcasts after getting traction in three genres -- comedy, storytelling and retro Hindi songs.
 "We have launched about 2,000 podcasts or shows. There the marquee shows are -- 'Life Ki Ranneeti' with Ranvijay Singh, Confessions with Sunny Leone, a show with the biggest stand-up comedian in India Zakir Khan, and a show around horror and paranormal activities with Jay Alani," Agarwal said.
 He said the company will focus extensively on the three genres and on building about 20 original shows with 3,000 podcasts under Gaana Originals over the next 4 months.
 "One of the biggest tractions that we see is going to be comedy, followed by shows targeting kids like Tenali Rama, Katha, Panchatantra, and deep stuff Devdutt Patnaik-type shows," he said.
 The podcasts will remain free for listeners and the company will monetise it through advertising supported model, he added. PRS RVK

A leading pornography website also revealed that traffic from India has increased by 95% as compared to the average traffic pre-COVID. As per another report submitted to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there were more than 25,000 cases of suspected child pornography. Speaking about why the brand decided to work on this campaign, Rajeev Juneja, CEO, Mankind Pharma, said, “Children are naive and vulnerable and they need to be monitored 24X7, it is the responsibility of the parents to keep their childhood intact. But sex is still a taboo in India and condoms brands can start a conversation to bring about change and erase the stigma around it. Airport Branding in the major metros have high traffic influx thus giving us required eyeballs. This media choice has worked positively for the brand.” “Over the time, we have changed our creative look and feel by using subtle and sober images but yet suggestive in terms of their message. A lot of tweaking has been done in terms of film production. We try to ensure there is less ‘skin show’ and more focus on the message. Thin line between lovemaking and vulgarity is very sensitive, we are really cautious and critical of the creatives that go out in the media. The key is to keep the portfolio strong and be relevant to your audiences in terms of the communication strategy. We have learned to operate well in the given restrictions,” added Juneja. Growth story of Manforce Condoms During the lockdown, e-commerce platform Snapdeal saw a 30% increase in the sale of condoms driven by demand from non-metros. More people started ordering condoms online. As a result, Manforce Condoms also saw an uptick in the initial period. “The sales of condoms did see a boom with everyone stocking up in advance. However, with the unanticipated nationwide lockdown that continued for the next two months, there was a drop in sales but not due to the decrease in demand, but mainly because of the temporary supply challenges,” shared Juneja. With life coming back to normal, and the government easing the lockdown, condoms are witnessing a steady sale. Adding on how the revival period has brought cheer for the brand, Juneja said, “The numbers have been fluctuating since the lockdown, however its temporary owing to basic restrictions and apprehensions that the pandemic has brought about amongst individuals. The nation had come to a standstill with the lockdown. Now each one of us is getting accustomed to the new normal and adapting ourselves back to routine and regular lifestyle, the brand is witnessing a steady growth in sales. In the month of August, unlike the category and rest of the brands, we have seen 2% positive growth and spike in Market Share going up to approximately 32%.” Mankind Pharma’s Manforce Condoms is the largest seller in the category. As per IQVIA Consumer Health Retail Audit Data – MAT, Manforce Condoms had a 32% market share in August 2020, followed by Kamasutra at 9%, Skore and Durex at 7%, along with the local brands. By closely engaging with its consumers and continuing to spread awareness around safe sex, Manforce Condoms intends to increase its market share. “We intend to increase our MS and reach the 50% mark by 2022-23, all our strategies are aligned in this direction,” said Juneja. Rural India contributes approximately 30% to the total Rs 1500 crore condom category and Manforce Condoms’ Pan, Banana, Jasmine flavors are a hit in rural areas. “There is indeed a wide scope of expansion in rural India. Manforce has worked on the bottom to top pyramid approach with the strongest distribution network of stockiest and wholesalers. Our brand endorser, Sunny Leone also gives us better connect due to her popularity amongst the masses,” said Juneja. However, with power comes responsibility and therefore, Manforce Condoms is trying to move towards becoming a more responsible brand everyday.
