<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:480px"><div class="image"><p class="source">Getty Images</p></div></div><keyword id="1348949" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tampa-Bay-Rays">Tampa Bay Rays</keyword> owner <keyword id="1738355" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Stuart-Sternberg">Stuart Sternberg</keyword> was asked about the feasibility of putting another <keyword id="133010" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="MLB">MLB</keyword> team in <keyword id="82818" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Montreal">Montreal</keyword> and his answer suggested that the city's next baseball team is just a matter of time.</p>
<p><a href="http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/tampa-bay-rays-owner-stuart-sternberg-talks-future-of-franchise-possible-move-evan-longoria-david-price-062213">In a Q&amp;A with Jon Paul Morosi of <em>FoxSports.com</em>,</a> Sternberg was asked if <keyword id="6507856" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Major-League-Baseball">Major League Baseball</keyword> could work again in Montreal.</p>
<p>"Yes," said Sternberg. "I know it can."</p>
<p>Sternberg was then asked if Montreal will ever get another team. The former Goldman Sachs partner said it won't happen in the next five years, but "in the next 20 [years], yes."</p>
<p>The <keyword id="1738356" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Montreal-Expos">Montreal Expos</keyword> existed from 1969 through the 2004 season, when they relocated to Washington D.C. and became the Nationals. So it might seem like an odd move if MLB's next team's relocation were to move to Montreal.</p>
<p>While Montreal enjoyed strong attendance earlier in their existence, they drew less than 1.0 million fans in six of their last seven seasons north of the border. And in 2001, they averaged less than 8,000 fans per game.</p>
<p>Some have suggested that the <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/commentary/news/story?page=bryant-110622">owners sabotaged attendance</a> in order to move the team. If true, they were very good at it.</p>
<p>But as Strernberg mentioned, the most recent crop of stadiums will need to be replaced in the next 20 years. And as long as there is strong corporate support in Montreal, he believes a team could look north for a new stadium.</p>

Rays Owner Says Major League Baseball Will Return To Montreal

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div>Ten years after the Montreal Expos moved to Washington D.C. to become the Nationals, Major League Baseball may be getting closer to returning to Quebec and possibly reviving the Expos franchise.</p>
<p>In a recent <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/madden-rays-rocked-frustrated-joe-maddon-opts-walk-article-1.1986150">column for the New York Daily News</a>, Bill Madden reported that sources had told him that Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg "has had discussions with wealthy Wall Street associates about moving the Rays to Montreal."</p>
<p>In response to the report, the Rays issued a non-denial denial <a href="http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/rays-deny-any-interest-in-moving-to-montreal/2203980">to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times</a>, noting that the team "[has] not spoken to Montreal - or any other city, including Tampa - about relocation at any point."</p>

<p><span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 22.4027996063232px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; display: inline !important; float: none;">This comes just seven months after Montreal hosted a pair of exhibition games in front of huge crowds and just three months after <a href="http://www.thestar.com/sports/baseball/2014/07/15/montreals_mlb_hopes_get_surprising_boost_from_bud_selig_griffin.html">MLB commissioner Bud Selig called the exhibitions</a> "very impressive" and called the city "an excellent candidate [for a franchise] in the future, no question about it."<br /></span></p>

However, <a href="http://tbo.com/sports/rays/rays-sternberg-mlb-doesnt-believe-in-tampa-bay-anymore-615307">MLB has called the ballpark situation "not sustainable"</a> and the Rays have so far failed in their efforts to build a new stadium.<br /></span></p>

Also, if the Rays leave Florida's west coast, MLB would be abandoning a very good television market at a time when TV ratings are more important than ever. </span></p>

There Are Signs MLB Is Getting Closer To Moving A Team Back To Montreal

Messerschmidt/Getty Images</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>The Chicago Cubs are back in the World Series for the first time since 1945, and a lot of credit is being given to Joe Maddon for both his ability to manage a game and his even better ability to manage the culture of a team.</p><p>But while it is hard to imagine the Cubs without Maddon now, it might have never have happened if the Tampa Bay Rays didn't concede to a "ballsy" demand by Maddon when he interviewed for their managerial vacancy in 2005.</p><p>In November, 2005, the then-Devil Rays had just finished their eighth straight season of at least 90 losses, had parted ways with manager Lou Piniella, and Stuart Sternberg had just taken over as the principal owner. One of the finalists for the vacany managerial position was Los Angeles Angels bench coach Joe Maddon.</p><p>Maddon had lost out on the Boston Red Sox managerial opening after the 2002 season, a job that was coincidentally given to now-Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona. So you'd forgive Maddon if he would be hesitant to make any bold demands of the Devil Rays. </p><p>But that is not Maddon's style.</p><p>You see, Maddon already had an important appointment during the 2006 season - his girlfriend's law school graduation <span>- and Maddon was not going to miss it.</span></p><p><span>Here is how Maddon described the demand a few years later for "ESPN the Magazine":</span></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"One of my favorite Rays memories is my first one. When Matt Silverman and Andrew Friedman interviewed me in 2005, I made a special request. 'If I get the job, can I have two days off next May to attend my girlfriend's law school graduation?' Jaye and I weren't married yet.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">I know, it was pretty ballsy of me. But they smiled and assured me it would not be a problem. So when I did get the job, I knew I was going to the right place."</p><p><span>Curiously, the Devil Rays won both of those games as bench coach Bill Evers filled in against the then-Florida Marlins.</span></p><p><span>But it is amazing how history can turn on simple things. Many teams would not have agreed to the demand. If Maddon had not been hired by the Devil Rays, maybe he gets another job elsewhere, or maybe not. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Go ahead and throw on a tie.</p><p>Feel the difference?</p><p>It's a small thing, but small things are the point.</p><p>When you're sporting a tie, you can pretty much stroll in anywhere you want; it's like an Admirals Club card that you wear on the outside.</p><p>Whether you're suiting up for the office or laying out a look for the evening, a tie allows you to pull together the disparate elements of your wardrobe with a touch of texture or complementary color.</p><p>If you learn to do it correctly-balance the width of the tie against your lapels and shirt collar, find a knot that fits your face-you'll have dressing right all tied up.</p><h3>A tie is the first thing people notice</h3><p>"Nice tie!" <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">That's always what people say. Their eyes can't help but go there.</span></p><p>So while you do want a tie that looks great all on its own, remember, it shouldn't be a novelty piece.</p><p>It's meant to speak to the rest of your outfit, not stand apart from or clash with it.</p><h3>Length matters...</h3><p>Whether you're six feet four or five feet six, the tip of the tie should hit right at your beltline- not three inches below it, not two inches above it. That is, unless you're doing the whole short-suit thing. And then, yes, let the tie hang tight above the navel.<br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div></br></p><h3>...And so does width</h3><p>At GQ, we like a narrow- but not superskinny-tie, about two and a quarter to two and three-quarter inches at its widest point.</p><p>Much wider than that and you start to look like a congressman.</p><p>This thinner width works both at the office and on the town, syncing up with any modern-cut suit.</p><h3>Your knot shouldn't resemble a giant dorito</h3><p>Do you want a knot the size of a P'Zone, like Stuart Scott on ESPN? No, you don't. So go ahead and ignore the half Windsor, the Prince Albert, the Super-duper Double Elliott, and all those other knots you find in sartorial guidebooks.</p><p>You really need to know only one knot-the four-in-hand. It's neither too big nor too small nor too perfectly triangular. It's natural and elegant, and it works with every collar, from a spread to a point. Learn it, never forget it, always use it.</p><h3><strong>Love your dimple: the secret tie weapon</strong></h3><p>"Yes, a snugly knotted tie will look perfectly fine without one," says GQ senior fashion editor Lisa Cohen. "But the dimple's the finishing touch that pulls it all together. We consider it essential." Here's how to take your look from passable to polished.</p><p>1. When you're almost done tying your tie, press your thumb against your index finger just beneath the knot, so the fabric forms a crease.</p><p>2. Pull down the narrow end of the tie to tighten the dimple, and slide up the knot.</p><p>3. Finesse either side of the dimple to accentuate the fold and set it in place.</p><h3>Want some solid advice? Once just for the Ivy League set, now for anyone with serious style.</p><p><strong>Repp</strong></p><p>Still a Capitol Hill staple, but now cut skinny for the cool kids, too.</p><h3>Timeless style: why loose and easy always looks sharp</h3><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Seems like half the covers we shoot, our guy has his tie undone. It's one of those not-trying-at-all looks that actually take some trying.</p><p>  You don't want to resemble some broker who just lost a million bucks in the last twenty minutes. So stick with a slim, cool-guy tie-not a honking power tie.</p><p>  A little scruff always helps. It's the grooming equivalent of a loosened knot.</p><p>  And get the shirt right. A washed and worn oxford is your easiest option. But if you do go with a pressed shirt, keep it understated. Avoid those Euro ones with the stiff oversize collars; there's nothing easy and relaxed about them.</p><h3>No more big, fat, wide ties!</h3><p>The man who rebirthed the skinny tie makes his case</p><p>"A skinnier tie just feels of-the-moment right now. It's not too mainstream and not too traditional. And there's less material, so there's less potential for a color or pattern to feel garish or offensive. Plus, the way people dress is cyclical. What's rebellion and what's conformity flip-flop back and forth. For a long time, rebellion was a T-shirt and a trucker hat. Then, suddenly, that mess became conformity, and dressing up a little bit became a way to differentiate yourself. Take the Mad Men era: Back then, looking really fantastic was the way to conform, and rebellion was the beatnik in the T-shirt. And then it just flips. So right now, a well-tailored suit and skinny tie is cool.
